Canadian Woman Snaps Selfie On Sinking Car!!! Moments From Going Under

Published

Doin' it for the 'gram never looked cooler, or stupider ... is what comes to mind at the sight of a woman taking photos atop her car as it sinks into a mostly frozen Canadian river.

This all went down on Sunday in Ottawa, and the woman -- whose car had cracked through the ice -- seemed totally unfazed as she posed for selfies ... and worried neighbors rushed to her rescue.

As you can see, the car was going deeper and deeper into the river and the car was almost fully under -- yet, Selfie Sally persisted.

The heroic neighbors eventually used a kayak to save the woman. One man yelled, "Don’t go towards the car, please come closer in.”

It's ironic, the folks recording the video and trying to help appeared to be more concerned than the sinking woman herself. Thanks to them, she made it safely to shore.

She had no reported injuries and didn't need any treatment once paramedics and police arrived.

ICY RESCUE

Some residents who witnessed the incident say the car had been driving fast over the frozen river. Appropriately, police say she was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Officially, there's no criminal charge for stupidly daring selfies. Not yet, anyway.

Hey, at least she got some content for the gram. 🥴

NBA's Shawn Bradley I've Battled Suicidal Thoughts ... In Wake Of Tragic Bike Accident

Published

Life has changed so much for Shawn Bradley since he was paralyzed in a tragic bike accident last year, the former NBA star admitted he battles suicidal thoughts regularly.

The 7-foot-6, ex-Dallas Mavericks fan favorite made the revelation during recent interviews with Sports Illustrated -- explaining things have not been easy since he suffered a serious spine injury in a Jan. 20, 2021 bicycle crash.

"Maybe it'd be better if this was just all over," Bradley says he sometimes thinks to himself in the wake of the tragedy.

"Yes, those thoughts creep in -- and they're real. I can't ever imagine myself acting on those thoughts, but I definitely have them."

Bradley revealed that when a minivan bumped into the back of his bike in the accident last year, he landed on a parked car and damaged vertebrae in his neck so badly, he was paralyzed from the chest down.

Because of the injury, the once towering basketball player has been relegated to a wheelchair -- which he and his wife, Carrie, said have made even the simplest tasks, like going out on dates or even getting around his home, nearly impossible.

Bradley now needs help eating and bathing ... and he says when friends and former teammates have seen him in his new state, it can get overwhelming.

"People that I'm very close with, the first time they see me, it's emotional," Bradley said. "It's extremely draining."

Bradley, though, says he has realistic goals of improving his ability to move around his big frame in the near future. He said the family is also hoping to move into a more wheelchair-friendly home soon.

And, in the meantime, he says he's seeking to educate people on the importance of bike safety.

The pilot made an emergency landing Sunday in the valley, which of course triggered a police and fire response. Thankfully for the pilot, officers were on the scene just in time to save his life.

You can see in the body cam video, the pilot was stunned, and almost totally out of it ... but officers were able to pull him out just seconds before the collision between the plane and commuter train.

The 4 officers being hailed as heroes are Damien Castro, Christopher Aboyte, Robert Sherock and Sgt. Joseph Cavestany.

LAPD tweeted, "Foothill Division Officers displayed heroism and quick action by saving the life of a pilot who made an emergency landing on the railroad tracks at San Fernando Rd. and Osborne St., just before an oncoming train collided with the aircraft."

WFT's Deshazor Everett Frantic 911 Call ... 'The Car Is Trapped In The Trees!!!'

Published | Updated

A bystander frantically urged 911 dispatch to get help to the Deshazor Everett car crash immediately ... telling an operator, "The car is trapped. It's trapped in the trees!"

In the audio, obtained by TMZ Sports, an initial caller can be heard on Dec. 23 saying he "just saw a car clip over" in Loudoun County, Virginia.

The caller said the car -- which was later identified to be a 2010 Nissan GT-R driven by the Washington Football Team safety -- had gone "into thick woods."

Later in the call, another man took the phone and tried to explain the seriousness of the situation -- repeatedly telling the woman they needed help ASAP.

"Please hurry," the man said over and over again.

The man told dispatch he wasn't sure what had caused the crash -- but said he believed one passenger in the car was trapped.

Medical personnel eventually arrived on the scene ... and, as we previously reported, they found Everett and his 29-year-old passenger, Olivia S. Peters, at the crash site.

Authorities said Peters tragically passed away due to injuries suffered in the crash ... and said Everett sustained serious but not life-threatening wounds in the wreck as well.

Everett was later placed on Washington's reserve/non-football injury list, concluding his season, and he tweeted on Thursday, "Thank you for all of your prayers, continue to pray for Olivia's family and me. Thank you all #Live4Liv."

An investigation into what caused the crash is still ongoing. Everett's attorney, Kaveh Noorishad, said Wednesday the football player is cooperating with law enforcement as the probe continues.

"At this time we ask that you respect the privacy of the individuals and families involved," Noorishad said, "and reserve judgment until all of the facts are gathered."

Tinsley the German Shepherd Saves Owner by Flagging Down Cop After Highway Crash

Published

Lassie lives!!! Or at least the spirit of Lassie lives on in a German shepherd named Tinsley -- the pup not only survived a car accident but helped flag down first responders to rescue his hooman!

Cops in New Hampshire say they got a call around 10 PM Tuesday for a loose German shepherd on a highway near the NH/VT border. When officers responded, the dog refused to come close to them, and it ran away. Cops followed the dog, who led them to the scene of a nasty crash.

It turns out Tinsley and his owner had been in a terrible truck accident. Tinsley was able to escape, but police realized 2 other people had been ejected from the truck and were seriously injured.

Cops called for an ambulance, and all involved were taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Tinsley was miraculously uninjured. Not-so-miraculously, the pooch is being hailed as a hero. Good boy, Tinsley!

Hilary Duff's Daughter 3-Yr-Old Banks Cruising, No Car Seat ... With 'Younger' Costar

Published | Updated

Hilary Duff's daughter looked fairly insecure while rolling in the back of a car with her mom's old costar -- which is fueling a lot of anger over what many perceive as an unsafe ride.

Three-year-old Banks Bair was featured in a video posted by actress Molly Bernard, who once starred opposite HD in the show "Younger" a few years back ... and who apparently had Hilary's kid for the day for some sorta playdate.

Right off the bat, fans noticed an apparent problem -- Banks sitting in the back of a car, without any visible car seat or restraint on her. The 3-point harness is behind her in the video, but that, of course, is only intended for older kids and adults.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

The law in California for car seats is pretty simple ... any child under 2 has to be in a car seat -- a rear-facing one at that -- until they're either 40 lbs. or more, or 40 inches or taller. Banks is 3, so the rear-facing part wouldn't apply here.

However, she's still under 8 and not tall enough yet -- so, Banks would have to be in a belt-positioning booster seat or car seat ... and there's no such restraint in the video. Hilary is catching flak as a result. Molly too -- but it's mostly folks mom-shaming Hilary for allowing such an unsafe practice with her own daughter.

Thankfully, everything seems to have turned out just fine -- as Molly posted other photos of Banks from their time together. Still, definitely a wake-up call for next time.

I-70 Truck Driver Sentence Reduced from 110 to 10 Years Guv. Grants Clemency

Published | Updated
UPDATE

4:52 PM PT -- Kim just thanked Governor Polis, writing, "Thank you @GovofCO for taking action to reduce Mr. Aguilera-Mederos sentence! While his new sentence is ten years, he will now have an opportunity to come home in five years and be with his son and wife."

UPDATE

She continues, "This case was a clear example of why mandatory minimums don't work and need to be abolished. I'm grateful to Governor Polis for his empathy and leadership on this case."

The truck driver who caused the crash that killed 4 and whose sentence of 110 years behind bars motivated more than 5 million people, including Kim Kardashian, to get behind his cause has been granted clemency by Colorado's Governor ... and his sentence has been reduced to 10 years.

Rogel Aguilera-Mederos was driving an 18-wheeler in 2019 when the truck's brakes failed, causing the horrific pileup crash. His 110 year sentence was mandatory, but caused public outcry from those who felt it was harsh and unfair given the whole thing was an accident.

In his clemency letter Thursday, Colorado Governor Jared Polis said, "The crimes you were convicted of are serious. Four individuals lost their lives and others were seriously injured because of your bad decisions.”

He continued, "Though your actions have caused immense pain, I am encouraged by your personal reflection and the commercial vehicle safety changes that were made in the wake of this tragedy to ensure this type of event never happens again.”

As we reported, Kim Kardashian was made aware of the case after Rogel's sentencing, and urged the Gov. to get involved to reduce his sentence.

Rogel will be eligible for parole in 2026.

Jubilee Sharpe won't end up having a DUI blemish on her criminal record -- but she sure is being treated like someone who got convicted for it ... this as her case comes to an end.

The ex-'Bachelor' star pled guilty last week to 2 counts -- willfully refusing to sign and accept a summons or citation, and reckless driving causing injury to property or person. Her actual DUI charge was dropped by prosecutors in Palm Beach ... and only the reckless driving charge will show up on any future background check, per the State Attorney's Office.

As a result of her plea deal ... Jubilee's facing 12 months of probation. As part of the deal  -- according to court docs, obtained by TMZ -- she'll have to complete a DUI education course, attend a victim impact session, do 75 hours of community service ... and pay hundreds in fines.

Jubilee will also be without her car for over a week, and when she does get it back ... it'll have an ignition interlock device, to make sure she isn't boozing and driving.

As we reported ... Jubilee was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving 2 years ago after a cop found she'd crashed her car. He described her as looking smashed -- noting she failed all the field sobriety tests ... then refusing to blow for a breathalyzer.

All things considered, she's lucky she walked away from this the way she did.

Tesla Drivers Play Video Games While in Motion!! Feds Launch Investigation

Published | Updated

Tesla is under fire and under federal investigation for a feature that allows riders to play video games while driving.

On Wednesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shared docs that say the video games that appear on the dashboard touchscreen are supposed to be for passengers -- hence its name "Passenger Play" -- but there is nothing stopping drivers from playing while the car's moving.

According to the investigation docs, this feature became available to drivers back in December of 2020 ... but before it only worked if the car was in park.

Well-known YouTuber AndrewSchrock made a video sharing this unique feature and playing all the video games in his Tesla ... you can see that he did have to wear his seatbelt, in order to play the video games. But ... despite precautions like this one, Tesla has gotten a lot of backlash over the safety concerns of its cars.

The high-tech vehicles known as "self-driving" cars have gotten criticism for features that allow drivers to slow down, speed up and switch lanes without even touching the wheel ... basically, without even having to be in the car!

Tesla insists that it intends for drivers to stay safe and keep their hands on the wheel, even when these features are on ... but their track record hasn't been all clean.

In fact, the NHTSA is now investigating the car company for at least 11 accidents that lead to a crash while using the "autopilot" or self-driving feature.

Kim Kardashian CO Truck Driver Thankful for Support ... Victim's Wife Calls Her Uninformed 'Loudest Mouth'

Published | Updated

Kim Kardashian is getting very opposite emotional reactions after lending her support to a man sentenced to 110 years behind bars for an accident that killed 4 ... getting praise from the driver himself and blasted as an uninformed loudmouth from the victim's family.

Kim recently posted about Rogel Aguilera-Mederos, a 26-year-old Colorado truck driver, who in 2019 caused a pile-up crash that killed 4 when his brakes went out. Rogel was given a mandatory minimum sentence of 110 years for the accident.

Rogel's attorney, Leonard Martinez, says while he hasn't spoken to Kim directly, they're aware she's spoken in support of reducing Rogel's sentence. Martinez says the legal team is very thankful Kim has lent her voice to the cause and understands how important it is to get the word out.

On the other hand, we spoke to Kathleen Harrison, whose husband, Doyle, was killed in the crash. Kathleen certainly didn't mince words ... she thinks Kim is just a loudmouth who has no clue about the case. Kathleen says the accident was avoidable, but Rogel just threw caution to the wind.

For instance, the trial laid out Rogel lied about his experience in getting the trucking job, noticed earlier in his trip that his brakes were smoking -- yet proceeded -- and failed to yield onto a truck ramp and avoid a collision.

Kathleen thinks 100 years is harsh, suggesting 20, but says this of Kim -- "I don't think that we want our local proceedings in any state taken over by who has the loudest mouth out there, because people don't know all the details, they are running on emotion."

Kim's not alone in her advocacy ... millions have signed a petition asking Rogel's sentence be reduced ... and the local D.A. has also asked the judge to reconsider.

David Diamante Boxing Announcer Seriously Injured ... In Motorcycle Crash

Published

Famous boxing announcer David Diamante was reportedly critically injured in a serious motorcycle accident this week ... but thankfully, he's alert and in good spirits.

Diamante -- who's worked for ESPN, DAZN, Showtime, HBO, the Brooklyn Nets and more -- was riding on a street beneath the Brooklyn Queens Expressway when the accident took place, according to Boxing Scene.

The 50-year-old was rushed to a local hospital, where he was treated for multiple broken ribs and fractures to his spine, as well as "serious" damage to his knee, the outlet reports.

Diamante underwent a 5-hour procedure on Tuesday ... where screws, rods, and cadaver parts were placed in his spine.

But, the good news?? Diamante is already talking about kickstarting his recovery and getting back on his feet.

"It's going to be a tough road," he told the outlet. "It's a bad injury and getting better will take some time. This will be a struggle. I'll have to learn to walk again, and right now there's a risk of complications."

"But, I have a positive attitude and will be back as soon as possible."

Michael Buffer also says he spoke with Diamante ... saying his fellow announcer is "very optimistic."

"David’s a fighter and has met big challenges in his life-this will be another one!"

Diamante is a legend in combat sports ... and is known for his trademark phrase, "The fight is on." He most recently worked the Joseph Parker vs. Derek Chisora fight on Dec. 18.

Colorado D.A. Asks Court to Review Driver's 110-Yr. Sentence ... Kim K, Millions Show Support

Published | Updated

A Colorado district attorney wants a judge to review the 110-year sentence of the truck driver who killed 4 people in a massive freeway wreck ... after millions of people -- including Kim Kardashian -- signed a petition opposing the stiff punishment.

Alexis King, D.A. for Colorado's First Judicial District, filed the motion Tuesday for a hearing to reconsider the sentencing. She mentioned that it was the "desire" of both living victims and families of those who died in the crash.

In April 2019, 26-year-old Rogel Aguilera-Mederos was driving a semi-truck in Lakewood, CO when the brakes went out and he slammed into traffic, killing 4 people.

He was found guilty of 27 criminal charges in October -- and earlier this month he was sentenced to the minimum under Colorado law ... 110 years.

You read that right, it's the minimum, because Aguilera-Mederos must serve multiple sentences -- for the 4 deaths and 16 other injured victims -- consecutively and not concurrently.

Aguilera-Mederos says the tragedy was a terrible accident ... and he has gotten the support of millions in a petition -- making this case very controversial. Kim chimed in, recently posting about the 26-year-old and calling on the Colorado governor to "do the right thing".

Earlier this month, Aguilera-Mederos gave an emotional statement ... saying "my life has been very difficult, sad, depressing, terrible since April 25, 2019." He continued, "I know it has been hard and heartbreaking for everyone involved."

D.A. King wants a district court judge to reconsider the sentence, and says she'll present the living victims' wishes during the hearing, which has been scheduled for Monday.

William Shatner Beam Me Up, Scotty ... 'Cause This Driving Thing Ain't Workin'

CAPTAIN'S CRASH

William Shatner seems to have a safer trip flying in a humongous spaceship than he does driving a car on planet Earth -- evidenced in the fact he got into a wreck cruising the streets of L.A.

Captain Kirk was involved in an accident Tuesday in Studio City, which actually looked pretty bad ... from the damage done, anyway. WS was driving his black Mercedes SUV, while the other driver was in an Acura sedan.

Unclear exactly how the two vehicles ended up as crumpled as they were -- but as you can see ... the woman's front end is pretty smashed up, with her left wheel at a weird angle.

Luckily, neither Bill nor the woman appeared to be injured ... and the 90-year-old actor was quickly on his feet and over with the woman making sure she was okay, while he made some calls and kicked debris off the side of the road.

Cops were called to the scene, made sure both drivers swapped info ... and thankfully no one was taken to the hospital.

John Daly Confident Tiger Will Break Jack's Records ... After Seeing Return To Course

Published

John Daly says after watching Tiger Woods' return to the course this weekend ... he's as confident as ever that the legend will break Jack Nicklaus' records after all.

The Big Cat has been hunting Jack's mark of 18 major victories for years ... but after his February car crash, most believed Woods wouldn't get the four more wins he needs to hold the title.

But, Daly says Woods' effort at the PNC Championship just 10 months after mangling his leg in a car wreck showed the dude will still likely get the victories required for the coveted record.

"Tiger's going to be fine," Daly said on "Fox & Friends" two days after he and his son held off Tiger and Charlie Woods for the PNC title.

"He looked good. He looked a little tired, but he still looked great. And, he'll be back. I can see it in his eyes. He's probably going to beat Jack Nicklaus' records and be the greatest of all time."

Daly and Tiger are pals ... but JD ain't blowing smoke -- Tiger did look outstanding in his golf comeback.

Even though he needed a cart to finish all 36 holes of the tourney, he and Charlie tore up the course, finishing the event in second place, just two strokes behind the Dalys.

It's unclear what Tiger's next tourney will be -- but at least participating in a major event in 2022 doesn't seem out of the question.

And, after seeing him on Saturday and Sunday, a win in one doesn't seem farfetched either.
