Dr. Conrad Murray: Something's Rotten

Published | Updated

Dr. Conrad Murray's legal team believes the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is "suspiciously slow" in turning over documents from the Michael Jackson involuntary manslaughter investigation ... sources close to the defense tell TMZ.

As one source puts it, "The prosecution had eight months to accumulate their evidence and we still haven't received it. Something here isn't right."

Dr. Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter and the defense has not ruled out a plea bargain. But as one source connected to Murray tells TMZ -- because the defense team hasn't received the docs, "We don't have enough to know if we're going to deal."

A spokesperson for the District Attorney's Office calls any suggestion of impropriety "ridiculous," saying, "There are hundreds of documents that are being stamped and when the process is completed, they will be turned over."

NFL Star Beats the Rap -- 5 Times Over!

After further review, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is officially off the hook for five traffic tickets he got late last year ... which means cops in AZ will be charged five time-outs.

As we first reported, Larry's speeding Cadillac Escalade was repeatedly captured by police cameras in Arizona -- four times in August '09 and once in November of '09... but the only ticket that could theoretically stick was the one written in November ... because that's the only one with a black guy behind the wheel.

Maricopa County court officials tell TMZ all five tickets have been dismissed -- which means Larry even dodged the November bullet.

Charlie Sheen's Wife In New Rehab, Plans Suit

Published | Updated

Brooke Mueller, Charlie Sheen's wife, is in a new rehab facility and she plans to sue the one she just left for allegedly violating her privacy ... TMZ has learned.

Brooke's lawyer, Yale Galanter, tells TMZ, "Brooke was forced to leave The Canyon rehab facility because of the security breach." As TMZ first reported, someone from the facility leaked Brooke's admission form to the media, which contained very personal information about her substance abuse.

Galanter says he will file a lawsuit on behalf of Brooke against The Canyon and plans "to have the individual responsible for leaking the information arrested."

Galanter tells TMZ that Brooke is continuing her rehabilitation "in a private, more secure, confidential environment" and that "Brooke no longer feels she can go into a public facility because of the breach of confidentiality The Canyon committed."

Galanter says the new facility is a private home in the L.A. area "which specializes in the type of treatment that Brooke needs so she can be the best mom she can be."

We're told Brooke entered the new facility early this AM.

And in a related story, Galanter confirmed TMZ's earlier story that L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services visited Brooke and Charlie's kids last night and that it was a "routine" visit and requested by the Pitkin County Department of Social Services after the Christmas day incident in Aspen.

Michael Jackson Estate -- Claim for $300 Mil

Published | Updated

The company that sued Michael Jackson for allegedly torpedoing a family concert has just filed a $300,000,000 creditor's claim against MJ's estate.

AllGood Entertainment
claims it had a deal with Jackson to put on a Jackson family concert and alleges the deal was broken when Jackson committed to the London series of concerts. In the $300,000,000 federal lawsuit filed in October 2009, AllGood was asking for profits from "This Is It" along with revenues from the Sony catalog.

AllGood claims Michael Jackson and his agent, Frank Dileo, "secretly teamed up with AEG [Live] to produce a concert or series of concerts in London."

AllGood Entertainment filed the claim Friday.

UPDATE: Howard Weitzman, lawyer for the Michael Jackson estate, tells TMZ, "AllGood's creditor's claim and its underlying lawsuit are frivolous and wholly without merit."

Judge Joe Brown Sued in 'Nookie' Case

Published | Updated

TV's Judge Joe Brown is being sued by a man who was once a plaintiff on the show -- a man who claims Joe falsely accused him on the show of trying to pay a woman for sex.

The plaintiff, Mark Schweninger, sued a woman on "Judge Joe Brown" for $7,500, claiming he loaned her money but she didn't pay him back. According to Schweninger's lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Brown said on the show, "You were just trying to get nookie."

The suit goes on to define "nookie" as "an indecent sexual term for a woman's private parts and for sexual intercourse."

Schweninger also says Brown called him a "sucker," which he claims drew catcalls from the peanut gallery.

In addition, Schweninger alleges he was defrauded because he was led to believe Brown was a real California judge ... but he is not.

So far, no comment from His Honor or CBS But we know it's SOP in court shows to have litigants sign a binding arbitration agreement in which litigants on the show give up legal recourse once the gavel goes down.

Child Protective Services at Charlie Sheen's

Published | Updated

The L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) paid a visit to the home of Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller last night ... sources tell TMZ.

Our sources tell us the visit was triggered by Pitkin County Department of Social Services -- which has an active investigation following the Christmas Day incident between Charlie and Brooke.

We're told Pitkin -- which services Aspen -- wanted to observe the children but they were in Los Angeles. After some squabbling over whether the kids should come back to Aspen, Pitkin officials contacted DCFS in L.A. and asked them to pay a visit.

Last night's visit was not an emergency -- we're told it's just when DCFS was able to get out and see the kids.

We're also told DCFS will take over the case because the kids are now living in L.A.
