Senator Claire McCaskill -- who grilled Dr. Oz like a cheeseburger during Tuesday's hearing -- was incredulous over the Doc's "miracle pill" because she's walked the walk ... sources connected to the Senate Subcommittee on Consumer Protection tell TMZ.

McCaskill lost a ton of weight in 2011 ... actually more like 50 pounds. She did it the old fashion way -- diet and exercise -- and she was proud of it. We're told she thinks diet shortcuts are ineffective and often fraudulent.

So when Oz came to The Hill ... we're told McCaskill was locked and loaded for a showdown over Oz touting green coffee beans as a miracle drug. One of McCaskill's staffers tells TMZ ... this was not a vendetta against Oz, and others have told us the same -- that she just thinks these quick fixes are harmful, especially when they're endorsed by credible people.

For Oz's part ... we're told he and his staff privately acknowledged he went too far on the air, and pulled back on the hyperbole several years ago.

Filthy rich Charlie Sheen just treated his best bud to an unlikely birthday present -- an all expenses paid meal ... at a famous L.A. greasy spoon.

Charlie and Tony Todd hit up NORMS -- which has been slinging hash since 1949 -- to celebrate Tony's 50th birthday on Tuesday. If you go, try the steak and eggs.

Diner fare might seem like a downscale party for Charlie -- who regularly fires up the private jet for impromptu adventures around the world -- but he tells us, "The MaSheen promised his bestie a meal out on the town, so what better spot than their old breakfast haunt, NORMS!!"

Tony -- a baseball coach at Santa Monica H.S. -- and Charlie go way back. They grew up together and have remained best friends through the years.

Charlize Theron had a Pinkberry worker thinking she got screwed -- the Oscar winner promised to come back to pay her bill, and even though it seemed touch and go for a while ... Charlize eventually came through with a HUGE tip.

Here's what went down -- an employee at Pinkberry in Hollywood says Charlize came in Tuesday afternoon, but when it came time to pay her $3.75 tab ... she plead poverty, saying she didn't have money on her.

The employee, Keila, says Charlize promised to come back, but more than an hour passed before Charlize returned (with Sean Penn, no less).

George Jung arrived in San Francisco on Monday night to move into a halfway house ... but tells us the Massachusetts native dined on a hometown favorite before his flight.

As TMZ first reported, Jung -- the prolific cocaine smuggler portrayed by Johnny Depp in the movie "Blow" -- was released from prison yesterday after serving nearly 20 years behind bars.

"Boston George" -- who looks good for having spent two decades behind bars -- told a photog at the airport he partook in a New England mainstay before heading west.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's big wedding dinner at Versailles had two big holes in it -- Beyonce and Jay Z -- but we're told everything else went off without a hitch ... including fancy French food, Lana Del Rey songs, and even DAVID BLAINE.

Sources inside the party tell TMZ, everyone was talking about how Bey and Jay failed to show ... but they could still make the wedding ceremony tomorrow in Florence.

Other than that, we're told the wedding dinner was magical -- starting with the food ... one source tells us, "It was all French stuff. Pretty much everything was truffled." But the best part ... we're told the jars of caviar with blini were other-worldly.

We're told the party was cocktail style ... lots of mingling ... and of course, there was a roving magician ... but not just any roving magician ... Kimye hired David Blaine.

And if that wasn't awesome enough ... we're told Lana Del Rey actually performed THREE songs.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis from "Dancing with the Stars" are huge losers ... 'cause even though they won the disco ball thingy ... they missed out on a ridiculously over-the-top feast at the wrap party.

After the finale, 'DWTS' threw the bash featuring a $70K menu designed by a bunch of TV chefs -- from "MasterChef" and "Top Chef." Some of the gut-busting highlights included:

TMZ has obtained video of reality star Jonathan Cheban's bodyguard socking an aggressive stranger in the face.

Cheban ... a fixture on "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" ... was grabbing a late dinner with his bodyguard and 3 friends at Sushi Couture in Brooklyn Sunday night when a random stranger started heckling Jonathan.

We're told Jonathan Instagrammed he was at the restaurant ... then a preppy-looking dude with a knife hanging off his belt approached his table, but was blocked by bodyguard "Sal the Contractor." The guy even followed Jonathan to the bathroom.

Sources in the restaurant tell us the instigator waited until the end of the night, to lunge at Jonathan as his entourage got up to leave. That's when Sal slammed a punch into the dude's face, as our video shows.

We're told the guy backed down and left after the punch. Smart.

Rapper Pitbull doesn't want his fans getting drunk on the wrong vodka recipe ... so he's suing to stop a booze company from slapping his name on their product.

Pitbull filed a federal lawsuit against E. & J. Winery & New Amsterdam Spirits Company over a vodka recipe they're pushing called "The Pit Bull."

The recipe -- 2 parts New Amsterdam vodka, 1/2 part lime juice, 1/2 part grapefruit juice, 2 parts lemon/lime soda -- might sound delicious ... but in the lawsuit Pitbull claims it's just piggybacking off his name.

The other problem -- the Miami rapper endorses other liquor brands including Voli vodka which also promotes a Pitbull drink.

According to the suit, New Amsterdam's recipe is confusing the marketplace -- plus, Pitbull's name has been trademarked since 2000.

Pitbull is suing for all profits New Amsterdam makes off his name. He also wants "Pit Bull" removed from the company's website.

Kim flashed her engagement ring for photogs ... and then she gave 'em the same rearview wedding guests will see walking down the aisle -- and it's glorious.

Jermaine Jackson doesn't need a hot bikini model to promote his new water company -- 'cause the Jackson 5 singer has his 84-year old mother to do the job.

Jermaine's company, Vita Water had a media event yesterday at Whole Foods in Tarzana ... and for some reason he brought Katherine Jackson along to help shill the drinks.

Greentree Packing claims in a new lawsuit -- obtained by TMZ -- English agreed to buy $73K worth of unprepared food items ... for his famed Olives Restaurant in NYC (which is delicious).

The rounded off breakdown includes:

-$1,500 whole, frozen rabbits
-$11K sushi grade tuna
-$10K chicken
-$4K salmon
-$4K beef tenderloins

Greentree claims English stiffed it to the tune of $73K. And it wants another $18K in lawyer's fees.
