The LAPD has a Hollywood mystery on its hands ... but while the list of central characters reads like a movie cast, the investigation into Tom Arnold's fight with Mark Burnett is 100 percent real.

Celebs who saw the pre-Emmy altercation between Tom and mega-producer Mark can expect a call from the police ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

Kevin Bacon, Billy Eichner, Patton Oswalt, Alyson Hannigan, Jeff Probst and Bryan Fogel are among those who allegedly saw Tom and Mark get physical.

Alyson tweeted about walking into the party behind Tom and Mark and witnessing the whole thing, which she initially thought was a joke ... and she claims Probst tried to break it up!

Apparently, Jeff was speaking for the tribe.

Patton and Billy were definitely there ... 'cause they posed for pics with Tom after the fight.

Tom was Bryan's plus-1 ... and Arnold claims the Oscar-winning filmmaker has vid of the whole thing. And, here's what's revealing. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Arnold did not give cops the video. An eyewitness says it was weird Bryan was shooting the whole time, and it may be the video was for Tom's show and he doesn't want to get scooped by the police if they release it.

2:38 PM PT -- Another eyewitness just walked us through what he saw ... he says Mark and Roma were walking up the stairs and stopped at the top to talk to someone. Within seconds, the eyewitness said, "Tom came charging up the steps and it was on." The eyewitness says it was clear Tom was there to confront Mark and, in a flash, Mark had his hands on Tom's throat, and Tom was tearing at Mark's shirt and ripping off his crucifix.

The eyewitness says it was all over in 15 seconds because "Survivor" host Jeff Probst separated them. The eyewitness also says Bryan Fogel was there filming the whole thing and it looked planned because the altercation was quick and without warning.

The eyewitness also says Tom was at the party for several hours telling people about the confrontation.

Tom has a show that premieres Tuesday, and the way the eyewitness put it, "Tom got the reaction he wanted. He got even more than he bargained for."

11:34 AM PT -- Tom just left the police station and provided more detail from the scuffle. He says Burnett choked him so violently he needs a doctor and he truly believed Mark wanted to kill him.

10:50 AM PT -- An eyewitness tells TMZ he saw the altercation this way ... Burnett and his wife, Roma Downey, had just arrived at the party and walked up the staircase to get inside. We're told just as they got to the top stair, Arnold came charging at them and pushed Burnett. The eyewitness says Burnett pushed Arnold back and then Arnold ripped Burnett's crucifix off his neck, breaking it. Arnold said it was a gold chain but in fact, it was a crucifix.

The altercation lasted no more than 30 seconds and they all stayed at the party.

Earlier in the day, Arnold told Salon.com he wanted to confront Burnett at the Emmys ceremony. Arnold also called Burnett a "p***y."

10:15 AM PT -- Tom is currently filing a police report with the LAPD.

Tom Arnold claims mega-producer Mark Burnett attacked him at a pre-Emmy party, but Burnett's wife claims it was the opposite ... Arnold ambushed Mark.

It went down Sunday night ... Arnold tweeted, "Mark Burnett just went apeshit & choked me at this huge Emmy party then he ran away with his torn pink shirt & missing gold chain. I'm waiting for LAPD."

Burnett's wife, Roma Downey, says Arnold "tried to ambush" her and Mark. She says Arnold hurt her and she posted a pic of a bruise on her hand, claiming Arnold was the culprit.

Arnold, who said he was waiting for the LAPD, fired back, "Bullshit. You lie your crazy husband attacked me you psycho. I'm filing a police report & suing you for defamation."

We checked with LAPD ... so far no report.

Right after the fight, Tom posed for pics with other people in the party, including Patton Oswalt and Billy Eichner ... who cheekily said, "Everyone in LA is shaken. Hold your loved ones tight."

Arnold has been working on a show for Vice ... a show about so-called "hidden Trump tapes." One of the things Arnold is after ... the outtakes from "The Apprentice," which Burnett created and produces. Arnold believes the tapes reveal Trump using the n-word and other epithets. Burnett has said he has no access to the tapes because they're owned by MGM.

Gabriel "G-Rod" Rodriguez, the actor who stepped in the middle of Machine Gun Kelly's beef with Eminem ... is absolutely dying to step into the Octagon for a one-on-one fight with MGK.

G-Rod was already training in the gym Monday morning when he reiterated there's no need for lawyers to seek retribution for Kelly's crew beating the crap out of him ... he just wants to settle the score with his fists!

G-Rod explains his reasons for confronting MGK Friday at an Atlanta restaurant ... and why Kelly's diss track pissed him off in the first place.

G-Rod clearly knows his way around a punching bag ... and says he's even willing to drop weight classes to get on Kelly's level. So far, Kelly's not responding.

Forget GGG-Canelo and Conor-Khabib ... the fight EVERYBODY wants to see just took a real step towards happening -- 'cause Greg Hardy is ALL IN on a fight with Shawne Merriman!!

Remember ... the ex-Chargers superstar told TMZ Sports he's down for a fight with Hardy if he wins his first tilt in the World Bare Knuckle Fighting Federation in November.

Well ... Greg just got word of the challenge -- and says he's DEFINITELY in for the match.

"All I’m saying is if you like entertainment as much as I do, you would deff enjoy this one," Greg says.

"Pro-Bowl battle royal. #iamthestorm let’s make it happen baby lol."

Of course -- Greg's been running through dudes in his transition from the NFL to the Octagon and has already earned a development contract with the UFC.

But, Merriman's legit serious about his fighting career as well ... having trained in the ring even during his NFL playing days.

11:38 AM PT -- Wanda just addressed the incident on Monday's show but would neither confirm nor deny whether her husband pulled out a gun and pointed it at Katt, citing legal reasons.

Wanda said Katt saw her outside the theater Saturday night and beelined it to her and started dissing her again. That's when Wanda says Lamorris told Katt to kick rocks, prompting Katt to respond, "I'll jump on your big ass too."

Katt Williams says he came face-to-face with an armed man looking for revenge -- the husband of a radio DJ he totally roasted on the air -- but the husband is calling BS on Katt's version of events.

You'll recall Katt joined V-103's 'Frank and Wanda' Friday and went OFF on a bunch of comedians, including Tiffany Haddish. During that same interview, Katt also roasted one of the hosts, Wanda Smith ... mocking her weight, wig and cooking skills.

Fast-forward to Saturday night ... Katt hit up the Atlanta Comedy Theater where Wanda regularly hosts. Wanda's husband, Lamorris Sellers, was also there and, according to a police report, had a verbal altercation with Katt. According to an off-duty police officer working security at the theater, he says Katt told him he ran to a grocery store next door after Lamorris pulled a gun on him and pointed it in his face.

Cops say they talked to Lamorris, who admitted to having a gun but denied ever pulling out the piece on Katt. Lamorris claimed the gun fell from his waistband while chasing Katt. Cops say surveillance video from the store shows Lamorris chasing Katt into the store, but does not show Lamorris holding a gun.

Cops say there were no independent witnesses and surveillance footage from the Atlanta Comedy Theater could not be accessed at the time. Katt said he did not want to press charges.

After his 12-round war with Gennady Golovkin, Canelo Alvarez still had enough energy to hit the club Saturday night ... partying in Vegas past 2 AM!!

The boxer showed up to XS Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas ... where bikini-clad women were waiting for him with signs, glow sticks and champagne!

Canelo arrived with a beautiful lady on his arm -- and sources inside the club say they were making out like his life depended on it.

The fighter didn't seem too banged up -- though he did have a bandage over his left eye.

Greg Hardy vs. Shawne Merriman ... in a fist fight?!

Yeah, this could actually happen.

Shawne -- the former NFL superstar -- is about to compete in his first bare knuckle boxing match ... and if he wins, "Lights Out" says he'd LOVE to get in the ring against Hardy.

Of course, Hardy has been crushing everybody since transitioning from the NFL to MMA -- and has already earned a development contract with the UFC.

Now, Merriman is following Hardy's lead ... sorta.

The ex-Chargers Pro Bowl linebacker signed a deal with the World Bare Knuckle Fighting Federation to brawl on Nov. 9 against Mike Bourke -- a dude who once knocked out Ken Shamrock.

If Merriman wins, he tells TMZ Sports ... a superfight with Hardy would be awesome.

"I'll definitely be open to see what Greg Hardy got to offer."

By the way, this isn't some fun experiment for Merriman -- he's been seriously training for years and believes, since he's only 34, he can have a real future in combat sports.

It all starts with Mike Bourke -- and Shawne says he's already putting together his fight plan.

Machine Gun Kelly's bodyguards beat the bloody hell out of an actor who called out the rapper over the blood feud with Eminem ... TMZ has learned.

The violence started late Friday night in Atlanta ... cops say MGK and his crew were in a restaurant bar when the actor named Gabriel "G-Rod" Rodriguez walked up to him with his phone out and started recording. In the video, obtained by TMZ, you see G-Rod point at MGK and say, "I'm gonna say it because it has to be said, you're a pussy for going for family!" G-Rod tells us he was especially upset because he's a husband and father of 3 kids.

G-Rod was pissed at Kelly for his beef with Eminem -- which started when Kelly said Em's then-teenaged daughter, Hailie, is hot.

In the video, MGK appears to shove G-Rod and turn the phone away. The video stops there, but G-Rod says that's when 5 of MGK's bodyguards swooped in and, as he puts it, MGK suddenly got tough and started challenging him. G-Rod claims Kelly shoved him. He says the bar manager immediately sided with the celebrity ... and kicked out G-Rod.

G-Rod says 2 hours later he was walking toward a Hampton Inn -- across the street from the bar -- when he noticed MGK and his crew hanging outside their tour bus. When they started barking at each other an Atlanta PD officer stepped in to cool things down, but G-Rod says MGK went off ... calling the cop a "pussy" and "pig."

G-Rod says the officer did nothing in response -- which pissed of G-Rod. He told us if a black or Latino person had said that to a cop ... they'd immediately be tased or worse.

G-Rod says he went into the hotel lobby and MGK continued jawing at him ... with all his bodyguards standing around him. G-Rod, who's a pretty big dude, says he told them he'd fight each of them -- one at a time -- if they wanted a fight. Instead, he says the bodyguards all jumped him at once.

According to cops, who've seen surveillance video, one guard body slammed G-Rod and then 3 others started punching and kicking him in the face. G-Rod -- who's had roles in "Ozark," "Power" and "NCIS: New Orleans" -- says MGK wasn't involved at that point, he just let his bodyguards get physical.

G-Rod tells TMZ he's already hired a lawyer and intends to file a lawsuit against MGK, however, he adds, "I will drop the lawsuit if we both sign waivers and meet in an octagon and go man-to-man without goons or weapons."

Police are investigating, and G-Rod is at an ER getting treatment for severe facial injuries.

Nipsey Hussle's L.A. clothing store was the backdrop for fighting and gunfire Friday.

Eyewitnesses tell TMZ 2 customers got into an all-out brawl in the parking lot. One of them was getting beaten up pretty badly, and that guy decided to even the playing field he'd pull out his gun and fire shots in the air ... which he did.

The beater got the message and fled.

Cops were called to the Crenshaw-area store and found blood in the parking lot. When they went inside the 3 employees refused to talk.

Nipsey was not at the store, which has become quite the thing in the area ... super popular.

Nipsey was in NYC at the Diamond Ball.

Cops want to review surveillance video, but it's unclear if the people who own the cam are willing to fork it over.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have decided to put in another night's work ... a night that will produce a 9-figure payday.

Floyd says he and Manny will have a rematch later this year, saying, "I'm coming back to fight Manny Pacquiao this year another 9 figure pay day on the way."

It's not like Floyd needs the cash ... he made around $220 mil from his 2015 fight against Manny. Money Mayweather added to his 401k to the tune of $275 mil with his Conor McGregor fight last year.

Floyd's 50-0 and it sure seemed like the stat was right for hanging up the gloves, but $$$ is $$$.

Oscar De La Hoya says some people were so PISSED at him after the first Canelo/GGG fight ended in a draw that they THREATENED HIS LIFE because they thought ODLH rigged the outcome.

The first fight was hotly contested, but most ringside observers thought GGG pulled it out. Couple that with a historically bad scorecard from judge Adalaide Byrd, and rumors of chicanery were afoot.

Oscar says he's hoping for a Canelo KO this time ... because it would be best for boxing -- AND HIS PERSONAL SAFETY -- for there to be no doubt about the outcome.

"You have no idea how many threats that I received because it was a draw ... People thought that I fixed it, as the promoter."

GGG and Canelo run it back Saturday night on HBO PPV ... and for his part, Oscar says he's as nervous for the fight as he's ever been for any of the times he stepped in the ring himself.

Hulk Hogan is weighing in on the Gennady Golvkin vs. Canelo Alvarez fight -- telling TMZ Sports his guy GGG is gonna beat on Canelo so badly, he'll turn him into "Canary" Alvarez.

"His feathers are gonna be flyin' and he's gonna be looking for some bird seed to try to get back on his feet, brother!"

We played the clip for Gennady -- and he loved it ... calling Hulk a legend and hoping he can turn Hogan's prediction into a reality.

The two finally get in the ring on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Gennady's camp is adamant Canelo is a cheater who purposely took a performance-enhancing drug.

In fact, GGG's trainer, Abel Sanchez, says Canelo's excuse that he unknowingly consumed tainted Mexican beef (and that's why he tested positive for Clenbuterol) is complete B.S.

Abel told us ... Canelo's nickname should be CCC -- "Canelo Con Carne."

Former boxing champ Ray Mancini says Canelo Alvarez ain't like Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and Ben Johnson ... cause unlike those guys, PED's won't hurt Alvarez's legacy.

Canelo is set to take on GGG Saturday in the biggest fight of the year ... but there are some people who think that an Alvarez win would be tainted by his positive drug tests from earlier this year.

You might remember, the fight was postponed because the Mexican champ twice tested dirty for Clenbuterol in his bloodstream ... blaming meat from his home country for the positive results.

We got Mancini out in NYC ... and asked the boxing Hall of Famer if Canelo's good name is ruined forever and Ray couldn't have been more clear ... NO.

"Either you can fight or you can't fight, you can punch or you can't, take a shot or you can't."

Canelo Alvarez says he doesn't want his rematch with Gennady Golovkin to go to the judges -- he wants to take matters into his own hands and knock the dude out in the 1ST ROUND.

TMZ Sports spoke with Canelo (via translator) about his upcoming fight with GGG -- and he made it clear, he wants to stop the killer from Kazakhstan by putting him on the canvas.

"Without a doubt, I’ll be going in there to knock him out, that’s what I’ve worked for," Canelo says ... "I’m gonna work from the first round to complete my objective which is to knock him out."

Canelo also responded to GGG's trainer Abel Sanchez -- who labeled the boxer a liar and a cheater for blaming tainted Mexican cow beef for that positive PED test.

"What he says brings me more desire to win," Canelo says ... "At this point, I don’t know whether to laugh or get mad at what he’s saying. But, at the end of the day, he’s not gonna be the one getting in the ring."

"I’m gonna demonstrate my victory with facts and by getting in the ring with his fighter on Saturday."

Boxing star Gervonta Davis -- the reigning WBA super featherweight champ -- was arrested in Washington D.C. early Friday morning after fighting in the street ... TMZ Sports has learned.

We're told the incident began at Rosebar Lounge ... where sources say Davis spent more than $10,000 turning up.

One source tells us there was a dispute over the bill that escalated -- and Davis and another man took the beef into the street.

According to the police report, the two guys started to fist fight -- "punching each other with a closed fist about the upper body."

Several people tried to break it up but the two guys tried to flee -- until cops swooped in and picked them both up.

Both men -- including Davis -- were arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to a nearby station where they were booked and processed.

In the video, you can see Davis in handcuffs being walked to a squad car.
