Artie Lange Gets Big Break in Weird Drug Case
Artie Lange will not be charged with drug possession, despite a police report which says he had several bags of suspected heroin and coke.
TMZ reported Artie was arrested at his New Jersey apartment building last month after cops found heroin in his parked car. At the time, cops say they also found drugs on his person.
Artie was booked on 2 counts drug possession, but now prosecutors have nixed that offense. He's been charged with 3 counts of "disorderly persons" -- it's still a drug offense, but way less serious than possession. They're the equivalent of misdemeanors.
It's interesting ... Artie was not charged with drug possession because he wasn't in the car when cops arrived, and therefore it's difficult to prove the drugs were his. It's unclear why he was not charged with drug possession for the heroin police said they found on his person.
The maximum penalty in this case for disorderly persons is 6 months in county jail. If he were charged with possession the maximum sentence would be 5 years in prison.

Young Thug Skates on Felony Drug Charge ... Saved by Technicality
Young Thug's off the hook for a felony drug charge, thanks to his lawyers arguing cops overstepped boundaries with an illegal search warrant.
You'll recall the rapper's crib was raided by cops in Sandy Springs, GA in July 2015 ... turning up weapons and drugs. Thug was charged with felony cocaine possession, felony marijuana possession and 3 counts of felony gun possession.
Since then, the D.A. had dropped all but the marijuana charges. YT's lawyers argued that should be kicked out too, because cops conducted the search without a proper warrant. The judge agreed ... giving YT total victory.
We reached out to the D.A. for comment, but so far no word back.

'Zoey 101' Star I Thought Baby's Parents Were Dead ... No Idea It Was Heroin
Matthew Underwood thought he was looking at a couple of dead bodies -- not heroin users -- when he rescued a baby from a car crash police say was triggered by drug abuse.
The former "Zoey 101" star walked us through the scene he came upon after a woman passed out from heroin and crashed into a tree. The baby was in the back seat along with the father ... who was also high as a kite.
Matt says he didn't have time to think with the kid's safety on the line, but still managed to play the hero until the cavalry arrived.

Alabama's Ryan Anderson I Didn't Throw Deshaun Watson Out of a Bar ... I Was Helping Him
Ex-Alabama football star Ryan Anderson says he did not threaten Deshaun Watson and force him out of a Tuscaloosa bar this weekend ... claiming he only got involved to HELP the QB.
Anderson -- a projected NFL Draft pick -- was seen on video along with Tide alum Wallace Gilberry talking to the ex-Clemson QB right before he was escorted out of the Innisfree Irish Pub on Friday night.
Multiple reports say Anderson and Gilberry told Watson to leave -- but Anderson's rep tells TMZ Sports that's NOT the whole story.
We spoke with Anderson's publicist, Bob Broderick, who says Ryan and Wallace only approached Watson because some patrons were getting hostile toward him.
Broderick says Anderson suggested Watson leave before the patrons escalated the situation -- and Anderson even offered to pick up Watson's tab as a friendly gesture.
"Bottom Line, Ryan didn’t ask Deshaun to leave," Broderick says ... "and they have since talked after the incident."

'Zoey 101' Star Saves Baby From Heroin-Fueled Car Crash
Former "Zoey 101" star Matthew Underwood rescued a 4-month-old baby after the infant's parents passed out on drugs and crashed their car ... TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us Matthew was one of the first people on the scene of a car wreck last Thursday in Port St. Lucie, FL ... where a female driver cut across 6 lanes of traffic on a busy street and crashed into a tree.
We're told she passed out at the wheel with a syringe full of heroin in her arm, with her baby daddy passed out in the back seat. Their baby was in an unsecured car seat next to the father.
According to the police report ... Matt saw the parents passed out, removed the infant -- who was not injured -- and had his brother call 911.
Matt also shot video of the scene before cops arrived. The mother later told cops she'd just bought heroin to try for the first time. The dad had a pill bottle full of Alprazolam (generic Xanax), a smoking pipe and a 2nd syringe laying next to him.
Matt tells us he decided to record the scene once he saw the parents passed out. He wanted to document the scene before he intervened in case things went south. He says he couldn't have just driven by without helping.
Both parents were booked for child neglect and drug possession. The baby was turned over to a family member.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope DUI Arrest Video 'I Only Had 2 Drinks'
Detroit Pistons star Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was surprisingly calm for a guy suspected of DUI ... at least, it seemed that way in the video of his arrest, obtained by TMZ Sports.
Kentavious was arrested in the early hours of March 29 -- after the Pistons had lost to the Miami Heat.
KCP was initially pulled over for speeding -- but during the stop, the officer explains to the NBA star that he smelled booze and his eyes were glossy.
Caldwell-Pope explained that he only had 2 drinks that night -- two glasses of Hennessy -- but says he specifically kept his drinking in check because he knew he had to drive.
At one point, it sounds like Kentavious calls himself a "lightweight."
Eventually, the officer administered a breathalyzer (he allegedly blew a .08) and arrested Kentavious for DUI. The officer described him as "very cooperative" in the police report and you can see why in the video.

El Chapo Drug Lords Need Jesus Too!
El Chapo -- the notorious drug lord who reigned over the world's most dangerous cartel -- is PISSED he can't properly pray in prison.
Chapo's lawyers fired off a letter to the judge outlining "draconian conditions" in Manhattan's Metropolitan Correctional Center ... including the fact the kingpin hasn't seen a Spanish-speaking priest.
In the letter, obtained by TMZ, Chapo's legal team is pretty clear ... "any interaction he has with 'religious personnel' has either been through pantomime or with the assistance of a prison guard who speaks Spanish."
His lawyers say this is a clear violation of his constitutional rights. They're also adamant the U.S. government is spying on Chapo every time he meets with his legal team -- and they've requested Amnesty International USA to inspect Chapo's cell.
As we've reported ... Chapo's lawyers say he's being held under the worst, most restrictive conditions of any prisoner currently detained by the U.S. government.

Coachella 2017 What's That Smell? VIP Ganja Party
Coachella won't be the only high-profile event in the desert next month -- a fully legal "Oasis" for marijuana lovers will be right down the road.
Weedmaps and Talent Resources are building a compound 6 miles from the music fest to offer VIP guests a spot to chill with Cali's finest bud. Our ganja sources tell us the spot will feature 2 grow houses, a greenhouse, and 5 geodesic domes to test different strains from GenX, Brass Knuckle and West Coast Cure.
Of course, "Budologists" will be on hand to help make recommendations.
It's now legal to carry up to an ounce of weed in CA, so clearly organizers are trying to entice some Coachella-goers to in-house shop, although all weed products are being given away, not sold.
BTW, those groovy looking domes will each offer different pot experiences -- vaping, edibles, traditional smoking, etc. -- but all will get you high.

Artie Lange clearly holds no grudges ... because just days after he was busted for drugs he was onstage making hundreds of cops laugh their asses off.
Talk about irony -- the comedian had been booked to perform at the Blue Lives Matter Gala over the weekend ... even before his arrest. We're told there were fears he might not show up due to the heroin and cocaine possession arrest.
But the event went as planned -- with Artie cracking jokes during a 10 minute set for more than 300 NYPD honchos. We're also told Artie, a huge cop supporter, got a lot of support there.
One detective said, "(He's) a real good guy because he owns up to what he does and doesn't blame the system. He's a gentleman."

El Chapo Feds Want to Root Out Moles On Legal Team
El Chapo could compromise hundreds, possibly thousands of federal drug investigations with a well-placed mole on his legal team ... that's the fear of federal officials.
We've learned Chapo's legal team will become privy to thousands of sensitive DEA documents that chronicle his activities in the international drug trade. The worry ... that the lawyers Chapo hires will use the info to warn other drug kingpins of the DEA's moves, compromising the investigations.
Prosecutors went to court and asked the federal judge in Brooklyn who is presiding over Chapo's drug trafficking case to allow them to screen every potential foreign lawyer on Chapo's legal team to make sure they're on the up-and-up.
The judge issued an order, obtained by TMZ, in which he allowed them to appoint a specific lawyer to do the screening.
Turns out, there's even a special name for this type of lawyer -- a "firewall attorney." It's someone who works in the U.S. Attorney's Office but is not involved in the Chapo case. It does raise questions ... they're all in the same office, after all. Nonetheless, the judge approved it.
If the firewall attorney thinks one or more of Chapo's lawyers are shady, a recommendation will go to the judge who could prevent the lawyer from joining the defense team.

Paul Wall & Baby Bash Off the Hook in Drug Case
Paul Wall and Baby Bash just caught a huge break in their drug case -- a grand jury cut 'em loose.
The panel declined to indict the Houston rappers Tuesday, citing insufficient evidence to convict them in the December drug bust. Paul celebrated his victory with a cigar (weed-free, we think), and told us why he was always confident his attorney would save his ass.
We broke the story ... Paul and Baby were arrested in an undercover raid while attending a weed party in Houston. They'd been booked for possession of marijuana and intent to sell, both felonies in Texas. It appeared the case was moving forward a few months ago when the artists told a judge they would test positive for THC.
Like Baby told us, they were just dabbling in dabs and pot at the shindig -- and for the grand jury that wasn't enough to warrant a trial.
