Jon Stewart Obliterates GOP for Blocking Vet Bill ... 'Sen. Toomey Is a F***ing Coward'

DISGRACE TO THE COUNTRY

Jon Stewart is putting the Republican party on blast after voting "no" on a bill to expand healthcare coverage for veterans ... and he's calling one Senator out specifically, saying the guy's nothing short of spineless.

Jon joined House Speaker Pelosi and a group of veterans for a powerful press conference on the PACT Act Thursday ... and he lays it down hard on the GOP Senators who blocked the bill with a 55 to 42 vote.

The House already passed it, and if it got the necessary 60 votes in the Senate the bill would help those exposed to toxic burn pits and Vietnam-era veterans exposed to the deadly herbicide Agent Orange.

He begins to list the ways the PACT Act could help, before a veteran seated next to him mentions it'll prevent people like him from going down dark paths, including suicide. The man was holding a sign reading, "Veterans blood is on Republicans hands."

Jon then points his frustration toward PA Senator Toomey, saying he "isn’t going to hear that because he won’t sit down with this man, because he’s a f**king coward."

Toomey showed his lack of support for the bill directly on the Senate floor, claiming it would create $400 billion in unrelated spending, which he called a “budgetary gimmick.”

Jon says the GOP Senators aren't supporting the troops, but they will support the war machine ... referring to the massive Pentagon budgets they happily pass.

DO YOUR JOB

He also got a laugh from the crowd, talking about them working on "Senate time" -- calling them tortoises that live to be 200.

He says they don't get how badly vets need this bill because they're living in their own world.

Marlins' Daniel Castano Drilled In Head By 104 MPH Line Drive ... Diagnosed W/ Concussion

Published | Updated
UPDATE

11:53 AM PT -- Castano has been diagnosed with a forehead contusion and a mild concussion, the Marlins announced.

UPDATE

"He will be evaluated further," the team added.

Horrifying moment in the Marlins vs. Reds game Thursday afternoon ... Miami pitcher Daniel Castano was drilled in the head by a 104 MPH line drive, but somehow, he appears to be OK.

The terrifying scene just happened in the bottom of the first inning at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati ... when Castano threw a slider to Donovan Solano.

The Reds third baseman smacked the ball violently ... and it made a beeline straight for Castano's face.

Thankfully, Castano was able to turn away enough to avoid getting hit near the eye area -- and the ball popped off his head and his teammate was able to record the out.

The 27-year-old lefty stayed down on the mound for several moments as trainers raced to his aid, but he was able to walk off under his own power.

In between innings, Marlins manager Don Mattingly appeared to tell an umpire that Castano had avoided serious injury, explaining the ball appeared to mostly hit the brim of the pitcher's cap.

Miami, though, has yet to officially release an update on his status.

Dua Lipa Fans Light Fireworks Inside Arena ... Cops Investigating

Published | Updated

Dua Lipa's concert in Toronto featured some unplanned effects, thanks to some fans who somehow snuck fireworks inside the venue, lighting them, and injuring a few fans.

The singer took the stage at Scotiabank Arena Wednesday night when a series of fireworks were set off from the floor seats. In video from the show, you see multiple explosions of different colors as Dua and dancers perform.

A rep for Toronto Police Service tells TMZ they got a call to the arena just before midnight for fireworks at the end of the show.

We're told at least three people suffered minor injuries, but fortunately, no one needed to be hospitalized ... the specifics on the injuries was not clear. There was also no damage to the arena, a lucky fact given the possibility of fires.

At this time, cops are working with the security staff at Scotiabank Arena to review surveillance footage to determine how the fireworks were brought inside and who is responsible for setting them off.

Dua has not yet commented on the incident.

SLOW AND STEADY

Mike Tyson wasn't moving so well this week while out in New York City -- he needed a cane to get around -- but TMZ Sports has learned the boxing legend is uninjured, and is just dealing with a bit of normal, wear-and-tear problems.

Iron Mike raised some eyebrows on Tuesday -- when fans and photogs caught him moving gingerly as he made his way from a car to his hotel room.

The 56-year-old appeared to be limping heavily, and was using a walking stick for support.

But, sources close to Mike tell us he hasn't suffered any new injuries -- and is just working through a little bit of an old back issue.

"He’s dealing with a sciatica flare-up," our sources tell us. "Nothing serious. Just an occupational hazard for an athlete like Mike."

It's great news -- especially considering just a few days ago, Mike said on his "Hotboxin'" podcast that "my expiration date is coming close, really soon."

Hopefully not anytime remotely close to the near future -- 'cause the world needs ya, Mike!!!

Seahawks' Chris Carson Retiring Due To Neck Injury ... At 27 Years Old

Published

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson is walking away from the NFL -- the 27-year-old is reportedly retiring due to a neck injury.

Carson suffered the injury during Week 4 of the 2021 season ... and has been unable to suit up for a game since.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport says Carson was working out in hopes of getting better ... but at this point, there hasn't been enough progress.

The report states Carson will not officially file his paperwork ... just in case he "dramatically" improves at some point.

The Seahawks will release Carson with a failed physical designation, which will help him to receive millions in injury protection benefits, Rap says.

If this is really the end, Carson finishes his career with more than 3,500 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns ... and 804 yards and 7 TDs through the air.

The former Oklahoma State star raked in roughly $9.4 million over the course of his career.

He played all 5 seasons with the Seahawks, who will now look to Rashaad Penny and rookie Kenneth Walker in the backfield.

Joe Burrow Undergoing Surgery ... To Have Appendix Removed

Published

The Cincinnati Bengals will be without superstar quarterback Joe Burrow as training camp kicks off -- the signal-caller is going under the knife to have his appendix removed.

The news broke just minutes ago ... with Ian Rapoport saying #9 will miss a bit of time due to the procedure.

Burrow showed up at the Bengals facility over the weekend to work out alongside rookies and injured players ... and Tuesday marks the first official day of camp.

The news comes amid contract talks for the 25-year-old ... with team president Mike Brown saying the focus is to give him an extension before his deal runs out.

While it's a slight bummer for Bengals fans, Rap says the decision was made based on the understanding it would be better to get the appendectomy out of the way sooner than later.

Makes sense -- the Bengals are coming off their most successful season in forever ... and are hoping to make another run at the Super Bowl this season.

Can't let a pesky appendix get in the way!!

California Soccer Player Dies Following In-Game Brawl ... Involving Players & Fans

Published

A soccer player tragically died weeks after he was brutally attacked by multiple people on the pitch during a soccer match in Oxnard, California earlier this month.

The man was only 29.

According to the NY Post, the brawl happened around 11 AM on July 10th at Oxnard High School -- about 90 minutes west of downtown Los Angeles -- when Misael Sanchez was allegedly beaten by opposing players and spectators after a dispute over a referee's call.

The assault left Sanchez severely injured and unresponsive on the field. EMT took him to a local hospital, the Ventura County Medical Center.

Sadly, 15 days later the family announced Sanchez died. The cause of death will be determined during an autopsy.

"My family is heartbroken and still in disbelief, as we expected a bright future for him," the family said on Monday via GoFundMe.

"Misael was assaulted by multiple assailants on July 10, 2022, and left in critical condition. We were not ready for this type of goodbye."

The family is now asking for prayers and for any donations to cover Sanchez's funeral.

"Thank you for the love, support and prayers."

Taco Bell Employee Allegedly Throws Boiling Hot Water at Customers

Published | Updated

A rep for Taco Bell tells TMZ ... "Everyone deserves to feel safe in Taco Bell restaurants. We take this very seriously and are working with our local franchisee to investigate. Due to pending litigation, we are unable to comment further on the specifics of the incident.”

A Taco Bell manager poured scalding water on two customers who complained that the restaurant got their order wrong, sending them to the hospital with serious burns, this according to a recently filed lawsuit.

In their $1 million suit, Plaintiffs Brittany Davis and her niece, a minor identified only as C.T., claim they pulled up to a drive-thru at a Taco Bell in Dallas and placed a $31 order, but they didn't get what they wanted.

So they circled through the drive-thru 2 more times to rectify the situation, but the employee was having none of it.

The pair then allegedly parked their vehicle and tried to walk inside the fast-food joint, but it was already closed. An employee unlocked the door, allowing them to enter.

After the two asked for their order to be corrected, one of the workers allegedly challenged C.T. to a fight before the manager appeared, holding a bucket of piping hot water.

The manager then doused C.T.'s face with the boiling water, which splashed the chests of both plaintiffs, according to the suit filed July 13 by prominent civil rights attorney Ben Crump.

Luckily, the two were able to escape before they could be attacked again by Taco Bell staff, who laughed and clapped as they drove away, the suit claims.

Davis says she suffered deep burns to her chest and stomach along with brain injuries, which have caused at least 10 seizures. C.T. says she sustained discoloring and scarring burns to her face, chest, legs, arms and stomach.

Dallas PD is investigating the incident, which occurred on June 17.

Crump tells TMZ ... "Not only did Brittany and C.T. Suffer physical trauma because of the burns but they will now live with the psychological trauma that comes with an attack like this. Corporations have a duty to employ quality and stable employees who hold safety as the highest priority.”

We reached out to Taco Bell ... so far no word back.

ROUGH ROBITICS

Chess is supposed to be a non-contact game, but a boy in Russia find out differently when a competing robot crushed his finger during a tournament.

The boy was matched up against a bionic arm in the Moscow Chess Open when he moved one of his pieces, but didn't wait for the robot to respond. As he tried to make another move, the contraption simultaneously reacted and grabbed the boy's finger, squeezing it until the bone shattered.

Surveillance video captured the scary moment as people rushed to the boy's aid, managing to release him from the machine's grip and escorting him away.

Moscow Chess Federation President Sergey Lazarev told Tass media the boy's finger was broken and put in a cast, but he got back in the game the next day!

Lazarev added, “The robot was rented by us, it has been exhibited in many places by specialists for a long time. Apparently, the operators overlooked some flaws."

Lazarev also promised to find out what went wrong, strengthen the robot's protections and assist the family.

Jason Momoa Crash with Motorcycle ... Video of the Aftermath

Published | Updated
UPDATE

5:03 PM PT -- TMZ has obtained video of the crash scene after the fact ... and sure enough, you can see Jason walking back to his car as paramedics tend to the motorcyclist behind him.

UPDATE

Check out the footage -- taken from a camera mounted to someone's bike who happened to be cruising by -- and you'll see it was a fairly serious scene ... or at the very least, treated like one by the amount of man power that showed up.

UPDATE
UPDATE

Jason, of course, looks like he's fine -- which jibes with what we were told happened here. No sign of the injured rider themselves, but you can see their bike and gear on the side of the road. And for good measure ... there's a front and rear shot showing the whole thing.

Jason Momoa was involved in a scary car wreck with a motorcycle this weekend -- but luckily, everyone's okay and no one's being blamed ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the 'Aquaman' star was traveling on Old Topanga Canyon Road Sunday out near the Calabasas area -- when at one point during his drive, a biker traveling in the opposite direction made contact with him coming around a curve.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

We're told the motorcycle rider crossed over into Jason's lane during this bend, and then hit the left front end of his Oldsmobile muscle car ... and kinda went flying, albeit only briefly.

The rider, fortunately, was able to land on his feet -- this according to our sources -- but not before bouncing off of JM's windshield and clearing the hood of his car to end up on the other side. Like we said, the rider was apparently left standing up after the collision.

The motorcycle rider was transported to the hospital with minor injuries -- including bruising to their leg and an injury to their thumb -- but beyond that ... they seemed alright. Jason's fine too ... cops were on the scene and took reports, but nothing else came of the accident.

Rage Against the Machine Tom Morello Tackled by Security ... Oops!!!

SMASHED BY STAFF

Rage Against the Machine has bodyguards that actually may be TOO on the ball, because an eagle-eyed hired muscle tackled a fan who rushed the stage and one of the band members got nailed as well.

It all went down Saturday night in Toronto, when Rage was playing its final song -- "Killing in the Name" -- and a fan (in a red shirt) sprinted toward the front of the stage, only to be blocked by security and hurled off into the crowd.

Thing is ... guitarist Tom Morello was collateral damage. Security made contact with him, knocking him to the ground close enough to the lip of the stage that he fell off.

It was a tense moment, as everyone waited to see if Tom was ok ... after a dramatic pause, he got up and waved to the crowd, which roared its approval!

Fact is ... security did its job and did it well. It happened really fast, so there was no time for precision. It's kind of funny ... Saturday night at Madison Square Garden, Dave Chappelle clowned his security at the Hollywood Bowl when he was tackled, saying they musta been wearing street shoes.

It's been a rough tour so far. On the second stop, singer Zack de la Rocha injured his leg, and ever since mostly sits down during sets.
