Playboy Playmate Cassandra Lynn was found dead in her friend's L.A. home Wednesday ... and police are investigating the death as a possible overdose, law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

We're told Lynn's friend found her floating in a bath tub. The friend then called police, reporting a possible OD. When paramedics arrived they could not revive her. Foul play is not suspected.

Lynn -- Miss February 2006 -- was 34.

Cassandra was pretty active on Twitter ... her last real tweet was three days ago.

Her Twitter updated automatically with her horoscope ... her latest reads: "Unspoken obligations prevent you from doing what you wish today ... No matter what you do now, you might not feel completely fulfilled. Working harder isn't the answer, but neither is escape." Eerie.

Hugh Hefner's gonna be pissed ... 'cause "Zero Dark Thirty" star Jessica Chastain tells TMZ she's totally down to get naked in front of a camera ... but it will NEVER be for Playboy.

We broke the story ... Shannon was arrested in Aug. 2012 for trying to sneak her boyfriend, Robert Skojo, across the Canadian border. She was charged with transporting an alien.

Shannon, who was Playboy's 50th anniversary centerfold, must pay a $5,000 fine ... in addition to the prison stint.

Salling was sued by a woman who claims on one occasion when she was dating the "Glee" star ... she insisted that he wear a condom during sex but he refused and forcibly had unprotected sex. The woman -- a former Playboy model -- claims she went to his house later that month to demand proof that he was STD-free, and he responded by pushing her to the ground.

Salling claims in his lawsuit the State Farm homeowner's policy requires the company to foot his legal and other bills connected with his defense, but State Farm has repeatedly refused.

Although there's no mention as to why State Farm won't cover Salling, we're guessing the insurance company is hanging its hat on a provision that excludes criminal acts from its coverage.

We broke the story ... Mendes claims a famous German rapper named Xatar got all drunk and unruly at the shindig and popped her right in the kisser ... breaking her nose.

Mendes sued everybody under the sun ... but eventually struck a settlement with Playboy and The Privilege Agency, which apparently had a role in throwing the event.

Playboy kicked in $31,250 ... explaining they just wanted to "buy its peace" and make the case go away. Privilege kicked another $31,250 ... totaling a fat $62,500 settlement.

We reached out to Alessandra -- but got no response ... so we typed her name into Google images and found some pretty hot lingerie pics of a person who might be her. At least we hope it's her. If so, her nose healed quite nicely.

Playboy Radio offered Amanda a guest hosting gig yesterday -- but now, a rep for the station tells TMZ, execs want her around FULL-TIME ... and have officially submitted an offer for Amanda to host her OWN hour-long daily radio show.

The offer is for a one-week trial ... but if all goes well, we're told Amanda can extend the deal to a full year.

Playboy's pulling out all the stops to make her feel welcome too -- we're told the org. is willing to provide Bynes with a driver to take her to work ... as well as her very own producer to handle the show's logistics.

FYI -- Bynes became a breakout star on "All That" back in the day thanks to the popularity of her "Ask Ashley" sketches ... when she would give crazy advice to fans.

Sidenote: Amanda says she's an aspiring rap star.

The legal battle has raged for more than a decade ... but Anna Nicole Smith's estate may finally see a piece of the Playboy legend's millionaire dead husband ... possibly as much as $49 MILLION.

The Supreme Court ruled years ago that Anna's estate was NOT entitled to any of J. Howard Marshall's fortune -- estimated between $500 million and $1 billion -- but yesterday, a California judge said Anna's 6-year-old daughter Dannielynn is entitled to sanctions against Marshall's family.

The judge hasn't specified the amount of the sanctions yet ... but previously suggested they could run as high as $49 million.

The judge awarded the sanctions based on allegations that attorneys for Marshall's estate used unsavory tactics throughout litigation ... such as concealing crucial legal docs from Anna's estate lawyers.
