Warrant's Jani Lane Ex-Managers Sue Estate We Want Our Cut of That 'Cherry Pie!'

Published | Updated

Jani Lane's estate is screwing Jani Lane's ex-managers out of the dough they earned by selling off his catalog for a shockingly high price ... according to the lawsuit they just filed.

The late Warrant frontman's managers -- Just Having Fun Productions -- filed the suit, claiming Jani's estate has yet to pay them some hefty commissions. According to the suit, the managers engineered a deal to sell a chunk of Jani's music to a publishing company.

The deal was worth $3.75 million, and in the suit the managers say they're entitled to 15% of that amount ... which is $562k. However, they say they offered the estate a discount ... a mere 12.5% ... but still haven't gotten paid.

Jani died in 2011 from alcohol poisoning.

Just Having Fun is suing for fraud and breach of contract, and they're no longer offering that discount. They want the full $562k.

By the way ... gotta give 'em props for getting nearly $4 mil for the catalog. How many times can ya play "Heaven" and "Cherry Pie?"

Tupac Murder Weapon Should Be in L.A. ... Det. Says Vegas Rejected It

Published | Updated

The handgun cops say was used to kill Tupac Shakur -- which mysteriously disappeared 11 years ago -- should be in the hands of the L.A. Sheriff's Dept. ... according to the detective who was on the case.

TMZ broke the story -- the .40 caliber Glock was found in a Compton backyard in 1998, and according to docs, LASD Detective Timothy Brennan was the guy who ordered the ballistic testing which revealed it was used in Tupac's murder.

Brennan, who's now retired, tells TMZ ... there should be NO mystery about where the gun is now ... IF everyone followed protocol. As Brennan recalls ... he gave the gun to ATF agents who conducted the testing. Once it came up a match, in a federal law enforcement database, he says ATF sent it to Las Vegas cops.

Now here's the rub. Brennan says law enforcement in Vegas didn't believe it was a match. He says he was never told why they reached that conclusion, but they rejected the weapon. Brennan says what should have happened next is the ATF to send it back to L.A.

As we reported ... the document dug up by producers of A&E's "Who Killed Tupac?" says a federal prosecutor recommended the gun NOT be turned over to Vegas -- but Brennan insists it was.

He thinks the handgun is still in the custody of L.A. authorities, but if it's not ... someone may be pulling something shady.

Carrie Fisher Traumatic 'Last Jedi' Scene Hard for Family to Watch

Carrie Fisher's final 'Star Wars' scenes hit too close to home for the Fisher family ... TMZ has learned.

Carrie's brother, Todd Fisher, tells us the family recently saw 'Last Jedi' and struggled watching General Leia in one particular scene ... which was extremely traumatic for the character. We don't want to say anything more than that with the movie just being released Thursday night.

We're told the family had actually seen an early cut of the film while Carrie was still alive. They saw the scene in question back then, and say it wasn't nearly as gut-wrenching. Again we'll avoid spoilers and leave it at that.

The family did enjoy the tribute to Carrie at the end of the flick. Although Lucasfilm has already announced Carrie won't be in 'Episode IX' ... we're told the family hopes Leia will continue to live on in the 'Star Wars' world in some spirit.

They're also not opposed to a CGI Leia like we saw in 'Rogue One.'

Tupac Murder Weapon Was Found!!! Current Location a Mystery

Published | Updated

The handgun used to shoot and kill Tupac Shakur turned up in a Compton backyard -- 19 years ago -- but, mysteriously, no one in law enforcement seems to know where it is today.

That bombshell information comes from a police document dug up by producers of the A&E docu-series, "Who Killed Tupac?" According to the document, here's how it unfolded.

A .40 caliber Glock was found by a citizen in his backyard in 1998 ... which he reported to police. Compton PD records show it was booked as found property on May 30, 1998.

In 2000, L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. took over law enforcement of Compton, and 3,800 confiscated firearms -- including that Glock -- were transferred to the LASD.

Fast forward to 2006, when Deputy T. Brennan -- who'd been working the Notorious B.I.G. murder -- was sifting through records. According to the doc, he recognized the address where the gun was found as the home of the girlfriend of a prominent Crip member ... known to have beef with Pac.

The deputy immediately ordered ballistic testing, and bam -- the results were a match for the firearm used to kill Tupac.

You'd think the weapon would be immediately sent to Vegas, where Pac's murder was still unsolved. Instead, a federal prosecutor assigned to the case cited concerns the discovery might alert potential conspirators -- and recommended the gun NOT be turned over to LVPD.

It's not spelled out in the document, but it seems the concern might have been about renewed gang violence if it came out a Crip was tied to Tupac's murder.

Tupac's brother was floored by the information when he met with Benjamin Crump, the civil rights attorney producing the A&E series.

A&E says it contacted LVPD, and some officers said the gun definitely never got to them, while others said they were unsure. Bottom line ... if anyone knows where it is now, they're not copping to it.

The final episode of "Who Killed Tupac?" airs Tuesday night.

Lil Peep's Death DEA to Investigate Fentanyl Overdose

Published | Updated

Lil Peep's fatal overdose is prompting the Drug Enforcement Administration to jump on the case, and we're told it has everything to do with one specific drug ... Fentanyl.

Sources close to the investigation tell TMZ ... the DEA will assist local authorities in Tucson where the rapper overdosed on Fentanyl and Xanax. More specifically, the DEA's main objective is finding out who provided the powerful opioid.

We broke the story ... cops are interested in texts allegedly sent from a woman named Mariah Bons ... who we're told went to the rapper's tour bus to see him before he died.

She allegedly sent a text to a friend that reads, "Gbc [Lil Peep] high af because of me and my friend lol."

Terry Glenn Cops Release Crash Pics from Fatal Wreck

Ex-NFL star Terry Glenn crashed his truck into a concrete divider on a Texas highway after apparently tailgating at the Dallas Cowboys game ... according to the police report obtained by TMZ Sports.

The Irving Police Dept. has now released crash photos and incident reports from the Nov. 20 crash that killed the former WR and left his fiancee severely injured.

Cops say Glenn was driving his Ford F250 around 12:18 AM when he hit the entrance to the toll lane and flipped. Neither Glenn nor his fiancee were wearing seatbelts.

When cops arrived, they found Glenn unconscious on the ground, barely breathing with a slight pulse. He had a massive wound on the back of his head.

Glenn's fiancee suffered injuries to her face and a possible broken collarbone.

Cops say Glenn was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead short time later.

Glenn's fiancee admitted she had been drinking earlier in the day -- but "was not clear" if Glenn had consumed alcohol, too.

Officials conducted toxicology tests on Glenn's body -- so far, no word on the results.

Cops say no alcohol was recovered at the crash scene, however investigators did find a "marijuana grinder and bottle."

Glenn's clothing was taken as evidence.
