Charles Barkley says he confronted Johnny Manziel about his drinking and drug use during a chance encounter in Vegas -- but despite his best efforts, he just couldn't get through to the QB.

Barkley appeared on 97.5 "The Fanatic" and said he ran into Johnny in Sin City back in May.

"I said, 'Johnny, man you're screwing up your life, man. I'm not your dad, I'm not gonna try to lecture you. I'm just telling you I had a brother who passed away at a young age. Drugs and alcohol got him. It's gonna end like a bad movie.'"

"He said, 'Man I just like to have fun,' and I said, 'Johnny we all like to have fun, at some point it's out of control.'"

"I said, 'Man, don't screw up your career, and I'm worried about your life ... My mom, when my brother passed away, I thought she quit living after that happened. I felt bad for her, and I don't wanna feel bad for your mom and dad if something happens to you man, stop being selfish.'"

"He said, 'You know what, I'm gonna try and do better.'"

But the next day, Barkley quickly learned the message didn't get through after TMZ Sports reported he was involved in a fight in a nightclub hours after their heart-to-heart chat.

"My friends, they were riding me, 'Yeah, you're a good mentor, the guy gets arrested three hours after talking to you.'"

FYI, Manziel wasn't arrested -- but he was kicked out of the club.

N.W.A's former manager Jerry Heller just got most of his lawsuit over "Straight Outta Compton" shot down in court -- but the case is still going forward because of one implication.

Heller sued the film's producers, feeling it was filled with defamatory lies about his dealings with the group. A federal judge didn't see it that way, ruling most of the movie did NOT defame Heller ... so he dismissed the suit.

However, the judge did rule Heller might have a point when it comes to 2 scenes. The first shows Heller (played by Paul Giamatti) telling Ice Cube, lawyers "are paid to make trouble" and "create problems where none exists." He was discouraging Cube from getting a lawyer to look over a contract.

The second scene shows Ice Cube telling a reporter about the incident with Heller.

That part of the case will go forward, but Heller still must prove the interaction with Cube didn't happen and that it was written into the script with malice.

The eye in the sky don't lie ... so says Iggy Azalea who claims Nick Young cheated on her in THEIR HOUSE ... and she caught the whole thing on video.

Iggy went on social media -- claiming she has no idea if reports that Nick impregnated his other lady (said to be his previous baby mama) are true -- but says her NBA ex-fiance was definitely messin' around.

"I have never even been told by nick that his baby mother is pregnant," Iggy wrote before dropping the hammer.

"I broke up with Nick because I found out he had brought other women into our home while I was away and caught them on the security footage."

"This is just like a second shot to the chest. And I feel like I don't even know who the hell it is I've been loving all this time."

Earlier this week, Nick was joking about the situation ... telling TMZ Sports he "lost" the engagement ring so he could collect the insurance money.

Johnny Manziel is thumbing his nose at his father's death warning -- telling his dad he ain't gonna stop partying ... just days after Paul Manziel called him a "druggie" whose life is in danger.

Ex-NFL coach Buddy Ryan -- one of the great defensive masterminds of all time -- has died after a long battle with cancer ... his agent confirmed. He was 82.

Buddy was a key part of the '85 Bears coaching staff -- and was carried off the field when Chicago won the Super Bowl. He was also a coach on the '68 Jets -- the team that won Super Bowl III.

His sons followed in dad's footsteps -- Rex Ryan is the head coach of the Buffalo Bills and his twin brother, Rob Ryan, is one of Rex's asst. coaches.

Mike Ditka -- head coach of the '85 Bears -- issued a statement saying, "We lost a good one. There will never be another guy like Buddy, believe me."

FYI, Buddy is an Army veteran and served during the Korean war.

64-year-old Pat Summitt, who coached the University of Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team to 8 national titles, is dead.

Summitt, who coached the team from 1974-2012, won 8 NCAA championships and more than 1,000 games ... more than any female basketball coach in NCAA history.

She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012.

Pat had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's in August 2011 and her conditioned worsened in the last few days.

Suge Knight thinks Chris Brown's crappy security is the reason he got shot 7 times ... so now he's suing Brown.

According to the docs, Knight says Brown and 1 OAK Nightclub should have had better security in August 2014 when Suge was shot multiple times inside the club. He was hit in the abdomen, chest, and left forearm.

Suge, who's currently in jail awaiting trial for murder, calls out Brown in the suit ... for being a "known gang associate" with a history of hosting events where violent incidents happened.

He's also suing singer Pia Mia, who was co-hosting the party.

Knight claims since the shooting he's had major health complications ... including a blood clot.

Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Dan Skuta allegedly shoved a woman in the face -- sending her into a glass window -- after she refused to give him her number ... this according to the police report.

Skuta -- 6'3", 250 lbs -- was arrested in Orlando on June 19th around 2 AM for misdemeanor battery.

Now, we've learned the alleged victim is a woman who claims all she did was turn down his advances.

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ Sports ... Skuta allegedly approached the woman and began flirting with her.

"When Skuta asked for [victim's] phone number where she told him no, a verbal altercation ensued between the two."

"The altercation turned physical when Skuta pushed victim's face with an open hand which caused the back of her head to hit a glass window."

The victim refused medical treatment.

Cops say they believe Skuta was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

NFL quarterback Tarvaris Jackson -- who played for the Seahawks last season -- was arrested in Florida after allegedly PULLING A LOADED GUN on his wife and threatening to kill her.

TMZ Sports has confirmed ... the 33-year-old was arrested around 2 AM Friday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill.

According to the police report, Jackson pointed a loaded gun at his wife while intoxicated -- threatening to kill her -- all while their children slept in the same house.

"Jackson stated 'I'll kill you bitch, I'll kill you.'"

According to the report, cops arrived to the home -- and Jackson denied having a gun, however an officer observed a black ruger SR9C 9MM caliber handgun on the kitchen counter.

Jackson eventually fessed up to having a gun in his bag -- but insists he never pulled it out.

He also claims his wife had a knife -- and had insulted his football career.

"Upon arresting Jackson his story changed. Jackson stated that he did grab his book bag that contained his firearm because [wife] had a knife in her hand.

Tarvaris stated that he never withdrew his firearm from the bag, but that he did say that he should shoot her to which [wife] replied, 'You better be accurate because you ain't accurate on the field.'"

Jackson's wife told police ... "When Jackson drinks he can become violent and has hit her in the past."

Jackson was transported to the Osceola County jail. He's since been released on bail.

Johnny Manziel's attorney accidentally texted an AP reporter about Johnny's domestic violence case, alleged drug use and more ... in one of the most epic screwups of all time.

The AP reporter had reached out to Bob Hinton seeking a comment on Johnny's hit-and-run case. What the reporter got back was a lengthy message he wasn't supposed to see ... a message intended for another attorney.

The highlights ...

-- Hinton said his team are seeking a plea deal in the Colleen Crowley domestic violence case ... and that the D.A. is "very interested in working with us to arrive at some agreement."

-- Hinton suggested Manziel would be in trouble if one of the terms of the plea deal included drug testing ... saying, "Heaven help us if one of the conditions is to pee in a bottle."

-- In the text, Hinton also refers to a receipt from a Dallas head shop called The Gas Pipe -- suggesting Johnny spent $1,018.77 at the shop, which sells everything from pipes to bongs and other stoner stuff.

-- Hinton also said there was "conflict" as to whether Johnny actually went to police after his alleged hit-and-run crash Monday night.

As TMZ Sports reported, the Dallas PD initially said they had no report of an accident involving Manziel ... but hours later said they did. It was weird.

The AP says Manziel's lawyer threatened to sue them if they published the info from the accidental texts.

Biebs went down hard during a pick-up game Friday in Cincinnati ... and came out of it with a severely swollen ankle.

He says it's sprained, which means 18,000 or so Beliebers are collectively holding their breath since Justin's supposed to perform tonight at U.S. Bank Arena.

They can all suck air again. Justin says he's going to have to take it easy onstage, but promises he's "still gonna crush."

Sherri Shepherd just rolled out the red carpet for any enterprising thieves on the Internet ... by posting a bunch of checks from fans without blurring their accounts.

Shepherd says she was doing some cleaning when she came across the old uncashed checks from fans who had purchased CDs at her stand-up comedy gigs. Sherri decided to post 'em on IG and was nice enough to scratch out the fans' addresses, but left the account numbers visible (sorry crooks, we didn't).

The pic was bombarded by comments telling her to take it down, which she did after 45 long minutes. HUGE oops!

Wiz Khalifa's blood feud with Kanye West is far from over even though Kanye apologized.

Wiz was on "The Breakfast Club" Friday morning when he revealed he and 'Ye aren't exactly on speaking terms after war erupted in January. If you forgot, during one of his Twitter rants, West went in on Amber Rose, Wiz and even mentioned their son.

As we reported ... Yeezus actually called Wiz and apologized, but check out why Wiz isn't convinced Kanye meant what he said on the phone.

Disney has lifted the ban on its beaches 8 days after the deadly alligator attack ... and is employing a new security protocol to avoid another death.

We're told in addition to the fences and warning signs ... Disney is now going to staff employees at their resort beaches to watch over guests and make sure they stay out of the water.

Furthermore ... the beaches will only be accessible during the day and must be cleared an hour before sunset.

As we previously reported ... Disney closed beach access after 2-year-old Lane Graves was attacked and killed.

Paige VanZant's blockbuster movie debut has just been put on hold -- she's officially pulled out of the upcoming 'Kickboxer' movie ... so she can focus on fighting.

As we previously reported, PVZ had signed on for "Kickboxer Retaliation" ... joining stars like Mike Tyson and the guy who plays The Mountain on "Game of Thrones."

A bunch of people thought it could be the role that launched VanZant's acting career.

But Paige just put the kibosh on the project -- claiming the filming schedule interfered with training for her next fight with Bec Rawlings at "UFC on FOX" in August.

"I’ve recently declined to be in the Kickboxer movie because I want to be 100% for this fight and train 100%," Paige told ESPN.

"That movie filming was kinda gonna get in the way. We couldn’t get a date set that worked with my schedule.”

Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and Robert Plant didn't jack the rock classic "Stairway to Heaven" ... according to the jury in their song theft trial.

The verdict came in Thursday morning -- after less than a day of deliberation -- and the jury ruled in favor of Zeppelin.

The trustee for songwriter Randy Wolfe, from the group Spirit, had sued claiming the iconic 'Stairway' guitar riff was lifted from Spirit's song, "Taurus." The jury didn't hear that and said there was no substantial similarity.

During the trial ... Spirit bassist Mark Andes recalled the band played "Taurus" at a Denver show where Led Zeppelin opened. Zepp's attorney claimed the bands were never onstage together and never toured together.

But a 1968 concert review in the Rocky Mountain News -- found on LZ's own website -- puts the bands together at the Denver concert. It was Zeppelin's U.S. debut.

In court ... guitar and piano renditions were played by musicians from both sides. Defense experts argued the songs only share a descending chord sequence that's common -- and clearly, the jury agreed.

"If you listen very hard ... the tune will come to you at last."
