3:56 PM PT -- O'Reilly is apologizing to Eric, and says "The message I tried to send was that allegations harm kids. Nothing more."

Ex-Fox News Channel anchor Eric Bolling is firing a warning shot to his old co-worker Bill O'Reilly for bringing up his son's death to the New York Times -- the message ... back off.

Bolling released a statement Monday in response to an interview O'Reilly did with the Times over the weekend -- in which the fired FNC host suggested Bolling's son, Eric Jr., was dead because of stories the paper ran about his dad. Eric Sr. doesn't mince words, even for Bill.

Bolling says, "I believe it is beyond inappropriate for anyone to bring in the tragic death of my son Eric Chase Bolling Jr. Just as Bill O'Reilly had wanted to shield his children from the allegations against him, I hope he will honor my request and avoid any future mentions of my son. My parting from Fox News was in no way connected to ... my son's passing."

He goes on to say that the coroner has indicated to him that Eric Jr.'s death was an accident ... and to also take a shot at Bill directly by saying ... "Unlike others who left Fox News amid public allegations and extensive investigations, I parted ways with Fox News in an amicable way and any reference to a firing is flatly wrong."

As we reported ... Eric Jr. died in bed after suffering emotional torture. The coroner has not announced cause of death.

The lawyer representing Harvey Weinstein's rape accuser got before microphones today ... the question is why.

David Ring says his client had a "thorough interview" with the LAPD Thursday, and the #1 priority for her is the criminal investigation.

He says she's 38 years old, from Italy where she was an actress. Ring says she had met Weinstein in Rome prior to the alleged 2013 rape, but that was it. He repeated what she told the L.A. Times ... that Weinstein "bullied" his way into her hotel room and raped her.

Jason Aldean's using his "Saturday Night Live" opener after the deadly Las Vegas shooting -- a powerful cover of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" -- to raise money for the victims ... TMZ has learned.

The track's available Friday across many digital retailers and streaming services, and will continue to be released on more channels the next few days. Jason also has released "We Won't Back Down" t-shirts for $35. All proceeds will go toward the Direct Impact Fund to benefit victims of the massacre.

A woman filed a police report with LAPD Thursday claiming Harvey Weinstein raped her in 2013, and the Department has launched a criminal investigation.

The woman is an Italian model/actress who claims she attended the Italia Film, Fashion and Art Festival in February, 2013.

She claims she had met Weinstein before, and in fact she says at the time he asked her up to his room but she declined. On this occasion, she says Weinstein showed up at her hotel lobby at Mr. C Beverly Hills and asked if he could join her in her room. She says she declined, but a short time later Weinstein was at her hotel door.

The woman, who was 34 at the time, tells the L.A. Times Weinstein forced his way into her room, saying, "I'm not going to f*** you. I just want to talk." She says he repeatedly asked to see her naked, then grabbed her by the hair, yanked her into the bathroom and forcibly raped her.

She says she begged him to stop, showing him pictures of her kids. It apparently went on for 45 minutes, and Weinstein allegedly left.

She says she was afraid to report him, but told her priest, a friend and a nanny.

Nicki Minaj will take the stand during her brother's child rape trial ... and is expected to tell jurors the mother of the alleged victim attempted to extort her for millions.

Nicki will be the star witness during Jelani Maraj's court case in NYC, where he stands accused of raping his then 11-year-old stepdaughter in 2015.

During opening arguments Thursday, Maraj's defense attorney, David Schwartz, told jurors his client's then-wife, Jacqueline Robinson, forced her children to lie to authorities in an attempt to squeeze $25 million out of Nicki.

He said Robinson told Nicki, "I can make the charges go away for $25 million." Schwartz went on to say Robinson hatched a plan to get Maraj to marry her only for the opportunity to extort Nicki.

Staffers at The Harvey Weinstein Co. claim they had no clue their boss was a "serial sexual predator" ... and want to be cleared from any contracts forcing them to keep quiet about what happened in their workplace.

In a statement to The New Yorker on Thursday, a group of staffers went in on the former TWC honcho, saying, "He created a toxic ecosystem where his abuse could flourish unchecked for decades."

The staffers also claim they never knowingly acted as so-called "honeypots" -- or assistants -- in Harvey Weinstein's abuse.

McKayla Maroney's mother says the Olympic gymnast is still reeling after going public with allegations she was molested and drugged by the team doctor ... but the family is proud of her.

"She's doing as expected," Erin Maroney said Thursday ... "She's not great, not fine. She's just low-key doing okay."
