HE CALLS THE SHOTS

Shaq's kid might now belong to Arizona, but it's clear the Diesel's heart could still belong to LSU, 'cause he refused to answer who he'd root for if the two school's happen to play each other.

We got the big man out in NYC and talked to him about Shareef finally picking a school ... University of Arizona ... and how much Shaq had to do with it.

O'Neal answered ... saying he had nothing to do with that call ... what he DIDN'T answer is who he'd be yelling for if the Wildcats play the Tigers, where of course Shaq is a legend.

It's alright, Shaq ... the teams are in different conferences, and we don't see 'Reef being in Tucson long.

NO HARD FEELINGS

Phil Simms says reports he was blindsided by the news he was being replaced by Tony Romo is completely false ... and it's awkward since it was his own son who reported that in the first place.

Here's the deal ... right after CBS made the move to swap out Simms for the Cowboys QB, Phil's son, Chris Simms, went on Bleacher Report’s Simms & Lefkoe Podcast and said he was disappointed in the way things went down.

"I had to tell my dad first, before CBS or anybody, because I found out from an NFL insider," Chris said.

But Phil tells TMZ Sports it just ain't true -- "Of course I knew. I didn't tell him so it was probably my fault."

The good news ... Phil says he's excited for the next phase of his career as an analyst on CBS' "The NFL Today."

We also asked if he had any advice for Romo -- and it's clear he thinks Tony will do great.

Quincy Combs Mends Fences with Biological Dad, Al B. Sure

Published | Updated

Quincy Combs' relationship with his estranged biological father, singer Al B. Sure, has gone from pretty much non-existent to the two of them doing a music video together.

Quincy just dropped the vid for his new song, “I Can Tell You (Nite and Day 2.0).” The track is a remix of Al's huge '80s hit "Nite & Day," and it sure feels like a handing down of the torch.

It's a big step in their relationship. If you recall ... Quincy penned an open letter years ago praising Diddy -- who raised him with his mom, Kim Porter -- for always being there when Al wasn't. At the time, Quincy said he always wondered about Al -- "Where he was? What was he doing? and most importantly, Was he even thinking about me?"

We're told things have slowly gotten better since then. Al and Quincy have been going out to dinners and their relationship is the best it's ever been.

Jimmy Kimmel Breaks Down on Show Describing Newborn's Heart Surgery

Published | Updated

Jimmy Kimmel was on the verge of tears during his opening monologue Monday as he described the terrifying experience immediately after the birth of his son ... who needed life-saving heart surgery.

Jimmy's son, Billy, was born a little over a week ago and seemed fine at first ... but hours later was diagnosed with a heart condition that required open heart surgery.

The comedian says Billy's pulmonary valve was completely blocked, and he also had a hole in the wall between the left and right sides of his heart. His first open heart surgery was apparently a success ... but Jimmy says he'll have to have more operations in the future.

It's a pretty emotional clip ... grab the tissues.

Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds Tombstone Installed ... Instant Hollywood Landmark

Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds' deep mother/daughter bond is now memorialized with their massive combined headstone ... which was unveiled over the weekend.

It's minimal on text -- etched only with their names and lifespans underneath a statue of 2 people embracing. Debbie and Carrie were laid to rest alongside one another in January at Hollywood's Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Carrie was cremated but some of her ashes were placed in an urn shaped like a giant Prozac pill next to her mother.

Prince Estate We're Holding Back New Music For Our Reality Show!

Published | Updated

Prince's estate wants to get into the reality show biz, and that's why it went to war to shut down the release of a new album on the anniversary of his death.

Sources close to Prince's heirs tell us the reality show, featuring family members, is in the works right now, and will focus on how their lives have changed since he died.

We're told the family's fighting George Ian Boxill, the producer of the "Deliverance" EP, to keep the music under wraps ... so they can debut it on the show. So, the good news is ... there's still hope the music will see the light of day. The question is when?

We're told the reality show is still in early development. They have a production company on board, but no deal to air yet.

Meanwhile, the court has ordered Boxill to turn over the music to the estate, but he's still fighting that.

GETTING BACK TO NORMAL

Jamie Lynn Spears is happy to give an update on her daughter's health after an almost fatal incident on an ATV earlier this year -- but don't ask if she'll ride again.

We got Jamie leaving L.A. Sunday after joining Britney at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards Saturday night. She told us her 8-year-old daughter, Maddie, is 100% after having to be put on a ventilator in February from an ATV accident.

But watch how she reacts to being asked if Maddie will get back on one of the vehicles that nearly killed her ... not nearly as chatty.

We broke the story ... Maddie's ATV flipped into a pond where she was trapped and submerged for several minutes. She was on a ventilator for at least a day.

Apparently, some things are off limits for Jamie when it comes to her kid.

Jesse Williams Moving Out and Moving On But Still There for the Kids

Published | Updated

Jesse Williams and his estranged wife are carrying on the recent tradition of civilized divorces, for the sake of their kids.

Sources close to Williams tell us ... he and Aryn Drake-Lee have been co-parenting their young son and daughter for months since officially separating. Jesse moved out of the family house several weeks ago but he's maintained regular contact with their children.

There was a lapse when Jesse recently completed a video game in Paris but that aside, he's been in L.A. filming "Grey's Anatomy." He sees his kids a few times every week. Most important ... we're told Aryn has been more than accommodating.

Sources close to Aryn tell us Jesse still has a lot of his belongings at their house ... and has come and gone as he pleases, so in a way he's moved but he hasn't.

As we reported ... Jesse is seeking joint custody of their 3-year-old and 1-year-old. Aryn has not filed a response to the divorce.

Kathy Hilton Amy Adams is a Real Piece of Work ... Or Was That Isla Fisher?

Published | Updated

Kathy Hilton does NOT appreciate A-list actresses allegedly snubbing her or fans --- even if it is Amy Adams ... or Isla Fisher ... or whoever just walked by.

We got the Hilton family Saturday night at Craig's where they were talking about a possible wedding between Paris Hilton and BF Chris Zylka ... when all of a sudden a female star walked by and hijacked the moment with paps.

Our camera guy wrongly ID'd the celeb -- it was actually Amy, not Isla. Either way ... Kathy isn't a fan. As far as we can tell, Kathy says the star wouldn't take a pic inside the restaurant with a fan, and on top of that didn't thank Ms. Hilton for a compliment about her dress.

WE ALL KNOW IT

Hope ex-MLB pitcher Tim Hudson doesn't have dreams of watching his son strike out major leaguers like he used to, cause his wife made it clear to TMZ Sports, SHE AIN'T HAVING IT.

Tim and the fam were out at The Ivy when we asked the brood if there were any future baseball players in the bunch ... to which Tim said yes, and pointed to his son, 12-year-old Kade.

Hudson told us Kade was a catcher for now and wasn't pitching "yet," and that's when wife Kim jumped in and said "yet" is a day that will NEVER come, 'cause she can't go through loving another hurler.

Very clear who wears the baseball pants in the family now.

Megyn Kelly Kicks Off New Show With Kardashian Fam

Published | Updated

Megyn Kelly will debut her new show with a sit-down with the entire Kardashian family ... minus 2.

Sources involved in the interview tell TMZ ... the reason Megyn was on the set of 'KUWTK' Thursday was to tape a very long interview with Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie, Kendall, and Kris ... everyone but Rob and Cailtyn. Ryan Seacrest, the producer and brainchild of the show, was also interviewed.

You don't see Kim in the pics, but we're told she was there.

Our sources say they were told the interview would consume Kelly's premiere Sunday night show in June on NBC.

The entire family rarely does interviews together ... nonetheless it's unclear whether Kelly walked away with a headline.

Kim discussed her Paris robbery this week on 'Ellen.'

As we reported, the NBC Prez went to Russia recently and the buzz is he was trying to score an interview with Putin. Contenders to interview the Russian Prez were Lester Holt, Matt Lauer and Megyn. If the Kardashians are the premiere show, it's safe to say Megyn's not sittin' with Putin.

Bill Cosby's Daughter Eat Crow, Media ... My Dad's No Rapist!

Published | Updated

Evin Cosby insists her father is not violent, respects women and absolutely is NOT a rapist -- and she thinks it's time for the media to admit it, now that Bill Cosby's scored a few legal victories.

Cosby's daughter feels there's been a national witch hunt, saying ... "When people are so quick to cast hate and make accusations of horrific violence against my dad, they are callous in their carelessness about the harm they are causing to others."

In a letter to The Hollywood Reporter, Evin continued ... "We are told that we have fundamental rights to be innocent until proven guilty. But, if enough people think you are a bad person, you are branded a bad person and the media just reinforces that."

She feels the justice system is beginning to prove her right. In recent months, 3 accusers' lawsuits for emotional distress were dismissed, and so was a defamation case against him for saying another accuser was lying.

Cosby is still facing the criminal trial for allegedly sexually assaulting Andrea Constand. Still, Evin believes, "He loves and respects women. He is not abusive, violent or a rapist."

She's also supremely confident, adding ... "I am pleased that finally we are seeing the whole picture and seeing cases and claims dismissed from court. I just hope that those who pre-judged my dad are now willing to admit that they were wrong."
