Trevor Lawrence Jaguars Take QB With First Pick ... In 2021 NFL Draft

UPDATE

9:30 AM PT -- The man of the hour has officially touched down in Jacksonville ... and he's got a HUGE smile on his face.

UPDATE

6:02 PM PT -- The first five picks have been announced ... with BYU QB Zach Wilson going #2 to the N.Y. Jets, NDSU QB Trey Lance to the San Francisco 49ers at #3, Florida TB Kyle Pitts to the Atlanta Falcons at #4 ... and LSU WR Ja'Marr Chase rounding out the top 5 to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The pick is in ... and the Jacksonville Jaguars have officially taken Clemson superstar QB Trevor Lawrence first overall in the 2021 NFL Draft!!

The selection should surprise literally no one -- the 21-year-old has been at the top of the draft boards ever since he declared for the draft in January.

Lawrence -- who decided to spend his big moment with his fam in South Carolina -- was visibly pleased to hear his name called Thursday night ... hugging his new wife, Marissa Mowry as Roger Goodell announced the pick.

Lawrence was as good as it gets for the Tigers -- winning a national title as a true freshman in 2018.

He also led Clemson to the championship game in 2020, but fell to Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers ... marking his first collegiate loss. In fact, dating back to his high school football days, Lawrence has yet to lose a regular-season game.

Lawrence finished his college career with an insane 34-2 record -- the most wins in school history.

Unfortunately, that winning streak is most likely coming to an end during his rookie season -- the Jags were pretty bad in 2020 with a 1-15 record.

But, now, JAX has college football coaching legend Urban Meyer on board ... and he's teaming up with the Heisman finalist to change the culture within the organization.

Now that the first domino has fallen, the next question is -- where the heck are the rest of the QBs in the draft going??

NASCAR's Jimmie Johnson Invites NFL's Jamin Davis To Race After Draft Night Shoutout

Published | Updated

NFL rookie Jamin Davis had TWO dreams come true this week -- not only did the Kentucky star get drafted to the Washington Football Team ... but his childhood idol, Jimmie Johnson, invited him to a NASCAR race!!

The awesome moment went down on Twitter early Friday morning ... when the 7-time NASCAR Cup champ noticed one of Davis' fun tidbits from Thursday's draft broadcast.

The slide read, "Wanted to race in NASCAR as a child, hoping to meet Jimmie Johnson one day."

And, guess what, Davis -- your wish is about to come true ... 'cause JJ responded by personally inviting the linebacker to a race in the future!!

"I want to wish you the best of luck chasing your dream @jamindavis25 and let’s get you to a race ASAP," Johnson tweeted.

So cool!!!

It doesn't get much better for the 22-year-old, whose name was called with the 19th overall pick Thursday night.

Davis has yet to respond to the racing legend's offer ... but we're sure he'll hit him back with a resounding "HELL YES" soon.

Congrats on the new friendship, Davis ... and welcome to the league!!!

Stefon Diggs Abandoned G-Wagon Police Video ... 'That's At Least A $160K Car!!!'

Published | Updated

Police officers were perplexed to find Stefon Diggs' Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon abandoned by Miami train tracks this month, with one cop even noting, "That's at least a $160,000 car!"

It's all captured on new police video obtained by TMZ Sports ... which shows Miami-Dade Police Dept. officers in the seconds after they were dispatched on April 18 to look at an abandoned vehicle near the Miami airport.

In the footage, you can see officers and other authorities discussing the ride ... and wondering out loud what it was doing there and how it got there.

They noted it had tire damage, they saw it was locked, and they made it clear nobody was in it or around it.

Eventually, one cop told another on the scene, "Nobody's inside the car, man. But, that's at least a $160,000 car!"

The officers then tried to piece together how the vehicle could have ended up abandoned there ... with one cop saying, "He was just coming southbound and then he lost a piece of his tire and came all the way down."

An official on the scene then joked, "Unless a helicopter dropped him there."

Ultimately, cops ran a search on the car and found out it was Diggs' ... and you can see in the clip, the cop recognized the name right away.

"He's a wide receiver," the officer said. "He's a wide receiver for the Bills, boo."

In an incident report, officers noted the car was "stuck in gravel, off the driving road" and had "scratches - dents" on it. They also noted they towed it shortly after discovering it.

It does NOT seem cops are investigating the incident further ... the report lists the case as "closed."

A rep for Diggs tells us there was NO wrongdoing involved in the incident ... saying the car was NOT stolen and adding that Diggs wasn't even in town at the time of its abandonment.

The rep tells us Diggs had lent the ride to a friend, who left it abandoned after it had gotten a flat tire.

"[Stefon] was not driving the car," Diggs' rep says. "He allowed a friend to use the car while he was gone. Unfortunately, the friend had got a flat tire with the car."

The rep says Diggs has since taken it to a Mercedes-Benz dealership to have its damage repaired.

2021 NFL Draft Fashion The Good, The Bad And The Gaudy!!!

The NFL draft festivities have made a return to normalcy ... which means one thing -- EXPENSIVE SUITS ARE BACK, BABY!!!

Twelve of college football's best players have arrived in Cleveland for the big night ... and so far, most of the dudes are looking dapper as hell!

Check out this incredible look -- Michigan pass-rusher Kwity Paye paid tribute to the late, great Chadwick Boseman with a "Black Panther" inspired fit.

Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith crushed it in a bowtie and a pin with his initials on it!

Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons CRUSHED it in a navy blue suit with a black turtle neck ... while Florida tight end Kyle Pitts killed it in a green suit and bow tie.

LSU's Ja'Marr Chase and Alabama's Jaylen Waddle opted for the no-tie fit.

Northwestern cornerback Greg Newsome II added a powerful message to his look for Thursday night ... rocking a black suit with red lettering tha read "Black Lives Matter."

Two of the top quarterbacks in the selection show, meanwhile, went with more muted looks ... both Alabama signal-caller Mac Jones and BYU QB Zach Wilson had little to no flash at all.

Of course, it's all a welcome site regardless ... 'cause just 12 months ago, there was NO in-person draft due to the COVID pandemic.

The 2020 show was held entirely virtually ... and most prospects opted for casual loungewear.

The first pick is just minutes away ... getcha popcorn ready -- but make sure you keep the buttery fingers away from the pricey suits!!!

Packers’ Marcedes Lewis Genuinely Sad About Aaron Rodgers ... 'We Need Him'

AARON IS GREEN BAY

Green Bay Packers tight end Marcedes Lewis REALLY hopes Aaron Rodgers sticks around ... admitting he'll be heartbroken to lose his QB.

Lewis and Rodgers have become close friends since Marcedes joined the Pack back in 2018 ... and knows how special of a player he is.

So, when he saw the reports Thursday about Aaron wanting out of Green Bay -- Lewis admitted he's sad about the whole situation ... but ultimately respects whatever decision Rodgers makes.

"I hope it's something that can get worked out," Lewis told us in L.A. on Thursday ... "He IS Green Bay and we need him to do what we want to do next year."

Lewis says whatever is happening behind the scenes is "between him and the front office and I'm just hoping they can figure it out and A-Rodge returns so we can handle business."

Marcedes gives Rodgers -- the league's reigning MVP -- a TON of credit for leading the team to the NFC championship game the past 2 seasons ... but admits he wants a RING and knows Aaron gives him the best chance to win it.

Still, Lewis has a message for the QB -- "Miss you bro, but I understand it's business first. You gotta do what's best for you and your family so we respect it."

Aaron Rodgers Wants Out of Green Bay, Trade Possible ... NFL World Losing Its Mind

Published

The Aaron Rodgers vs. Green Bay Packers drama is reaching a boiling point -- with multiple reports saying he wants OUT and could even be traded TONIGHT.

Hours before the 2021 NFL Draft kicks off, ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL on FOX insider Jay Glazer confirmed the QB "does not want to go back" to the Packers, following a long-running beef with the organization.

The issues here run deep and everyone knows it ...

First, Aaron wasn't happy when the Packers drafted a QB in the 1st round of the 2020 NFL Draft (Jordan Love) instead of picking up a slick weapon like a speedy WR or a playmaking TE.

Second, for the past few months, Rodgers has been trying to renegotiate his contract with the Packers ... and according to ProFootballTalk, the two sides are just not close to making a deal.

In fact, NFL Network says Rodgers dispatched his agent to Green Bay over the last month to meet with Packers honchos in person in the hopes of getting a deal done -- but no dice.

FYI, Aaron (the reigning NFL MVP) is slated to make $22.35 million in 2021 -- significantly less than Patrick Mahomes, who's set to make $45 mil.

Also, worth noting ... Russell Wilson will bank $35 mil in 2021.

So, what happens next??

Rodgers reportedly wants to play on the West Coast -- and there are rumblings the Las Vegas Raiders and SF 49ers are interested.

While big trades are not uncommon during the NFL Draft, anything involving Rodgers would immediately become the biggest Draft Day move in league history ... considering he's the reigning NFL MVP and took his team to the NFC Championship the past 2 seasons!!!

Stay tuned and getcha your popcorn ready!!

Urban Meyer Buys Mansion 3 Doors Down from Tebow ... Amid Tryout Reports

Published | Updated

If Tim Tebow lands a job with the Jaguars, he can carpool to work with his bestie Urban Meyer ... 'cause the coach just bought a Jacksonville mansion for $2.15 million -- AND TEBOW LIVES 3 HOUSES AWAY!!!!

Of course, the two football stars developed a powerful bromance dating back to their days at the University of Florida ... when they teamed up to win national championships in 2006 and 2008.

TMZ Sports has confirmed ... Meyer is the new owner of the 4-bed, 4.5-bathroom pad inside the Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club in South Jacksonville ... which just so happens to be Tebow's neighborhood.

Coincidence?? We think not.

Tebow bought his home back in 2019 for just under $3 million, according to the JAX Daily Record ... and he must love the place if he's recommending the area to his pal.

As for Urban's house, it's pretty baller -- it's got a butler's kitchen, summer kitchen, game room, pool and spa ... and a freakin' elevator!!

The pad -- which was listed by Engel & Volkers Jacksonville -- also previously belonged to ex-Jags QB David Garrard from 2008-11. Small world!!

Meyer moving into the new digs comes as Tebow reportedly asked the Jags for a tryout as a tight end ... so maybe coach owes him a favor??

Tim Tebow Gunning For NFL Comeback As TE ... Works Out For Jaguars

Published

MLB out ... NFL back in?!

That's now the plan for Tim Tebow ... who's gunning to make a football comeback as a tight end after retiring from baseball!!!

Tebow made the decision recently ... according to NFL reporters Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter -- and has already gotten a tryout of sorts with the Jaguars.

Schefter says the 33-year-old worked out for Jacksonville's tight ends coach ... and a future signing could be on the horizon.

Of course, Tebow has huge ties to the Jags -- their new head man, Urban Meyer, coached Tebow at Florida for years and the two have remained VERY good pals ever since.

Tebow had been attempting to make it to the New York Mets' big league roster the past few years ... but retired from the diamond in February, saying, "at this time I feel called in other directions."

Tebow -- who started 16 games for the Broncos and Jets from 2010 through 2012 -- never played anything other than quarterback during his first stint in the NFL.

NFL Prospects Personal Family Pods For Draft No COVID Spreadin' Here!!!

Published

Kyle Pitts and Mac Jones will have personal spots to chill while they wait to hear their names called at the NFL Draft on Thursday ... with the league hooking up all the prospects and their families with their very own backstage pods!!

... and it's all in the name of COVID-19 awareness!!

Of course, the 2021 draft in Cleveland is going to look a LOT different this year ... with players, families and fans returning to the event after COVID-19 forced the 2020 draft to go totally virtual.

There are some strict protocols in place -- attendees in the stands will have to be FULLY vaccinated ... and any other fans enjoying the festivities will be required to wear masks at all times (except for drinking and eating).

Folks will also have to remain 6 feet apart, which will be no problem for the 12 prospects in town for the big night ... thanks to the backstage pods.

The NFL shared a glimpse of what they look like Thursday morning ... showing off Jones' pod, which includes a widescreen TV, tables and multiple couches.

Remember, the draft usually features all the big names and their families lined up at tables throughout the venue ... but the pandemic is forcing everyone to be as separated as possible.

It looks like a great spot to kick back and relax ... but we're sure there won't be too much partying until AFTER the fellas hear commish Roger Goodell say their names.

FYI, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields will NOT get to have their own dope pods -- they decided to enjoy their big moment elsewhere.

The draft starts at 5 PM PT ... which basically means Lawrence is hours away from being a Jacksonville Jaguar.

Tommy Tuberville Advises NFL Rookies To Avoid Talking Politics ... 'Nobody's Looking For An Outspoken Person'

Published | Updated

Tommy Tuberville tells TMZ Sports ... Thursday's NFL draft picks should avoid speaking publicly about politics, saying the rookies should straight-up "talk about what you know about."

The Alabama Senator -- who coached future NFL draft picks for YEARS during his tenure as a college headman -- tells us he wants to see less political chatter from athletes, and more playing.

"Nobody's looking for an outspoken person," Tuberville said on Capitol Hill this week of the advice he'd give to his players if they were heading into Thursday's draft. "We're too divided as it is."

Tuberville clearly believes the sports landscape would be better off if players -- particularly younger ones who are just arriving in their respective leagues -- avoided polarizing subjects altogether.

"Everybody wants to make an opinion and that's fine," Tuberville tells us. "But, I think, especially for young people to get involved in something that maybe they might not understand as much, I think they need to let people that, whatever they do for a living, justify it."

Tuberville added, "I'd just like to see our country be more settled down in terms of people getting into politics or in sports and vice versa."

What's interesting ... the draft's projected top overall pick, former Clemson star Trevor Lawrence, has made it clear he's already comfortable commenting on hot-button topics outside of the gridiron.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

Lawrence was very vocal in his support for players returning to the field amid the coronavirus pandemic last fall ... and he was also an active supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement in the summer.

Rich Eisen Challenged to 40-Yard Dash at Airport ... and Dominates!!!

Published | Updated

Rich Eisen WANTS ALL THE SMOKE!!!!

The NFL Network star touched down in Cleveland on Tuesday night for the upcoming NFL Draft -- where he was immediately challenged to a footrace by an L.A. Rams fan.

Fortunately for Rich, he'd been training for his "Run Rich Run" event (which raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital) and was ready to go ... despite the fact he just got off a plane!!

Watch the video ... 51-year-old Rich had some JUICE off the line -- and then he kicked in the afterburners!

Okay, he's no Ja'Marr Chase ... but at least Rich got the "W" without pulling a hammy!

And, if you're a fan of watching Rich run, his "Run Rich Run" special -- featuring stars like Jerry Rice and Ray Lewis -- airs on NFL Network on May 1.

So far, the "Run Rich Run" campaign has raised over $2.5 mil for St. Jude's -- and judging by the video, he' ain't slowing down anytime soon!

Caleb Farley Top NFL Prospect Tests Positive For COVID ... Barred From Draft Party

Published
UPDATE

7:43 AM PT -- Farley said in a video statement Wednesday he's "feeling great" despite the positive test ... adding he will not let COVID ruin one of the best moments of his life.

UPDATE

"I'm okay. I feel great," Farley said. "I'm asymptomatic. I'm still in good spirit. I'm not going to let nothing and nobody ruin this week for me. This is a dream come true."

Caleb Farley -- a former Va. Tech star who's expected to be a top 20 pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday -- has tested positive for COVID and has now been barred from the league's official party.

The DB's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, made the announcement in a statement to Pro Football Talk on Wednesday ... saying the 22-year-old is feeling fine, but will now not attend the NFL's in-person draft event in Cleveland this week.

"Caleb Farley tested positive for Covid 19 yesterday on a test administered by the NFL," Rosenhaus said.

"He is totally asymptomatic and feels completely normal. However, he won’t be allowed to attend the draft in Cleveland."

Farley had been just 1 of 13 former college football stars scheduled to be in Ohio for the annual selection process ... so it's obviously a big bummer for the CB.

But, Farley's draft night should still be a memorable one nonetheless -- he's been projected by draft experts to possibly go as high as #9 overall to the Denver Broncos.

Farley -- who opted to sit out the 2020 season over COVID concerns -- played in 23 games in his 2-year career at Virginia Tech, logging six total interceptions.

FOLLOWING THEIR EXAMPLE

Kenny Chesney is hoping to get back to performing massive stadium concerts in the near future ... and says he's looking to the NFL to come up with a COVID-conscious blueprint.

"We're watching really closely what the NFL is going to do this year," Chesney told Brett Favre on the Hall of Famer's "Bolling With Favre" podcast this month.

"We're watching really closely to what the NFL does and how many people they allow in there and I think that's going to allow us to see what we're going to do in 2022."

Chesney says he and his band have no plans to tour this summer ... but he's anticipating putting together shows that'll stop at plenty of NFL stadiums in '22.

He explained to Favre that he's going to watch how the NFL handles attendance ... and could potentially mimic the same regulations when he's ready to return to the big stage.

"We all got our fingers crossed that we're going to be able to go with no restrictions -- with a lot of people in there," Chesney says.

Chesney added he's foaming at the mouth to get back to playing, telling Favre, "I can tell you that I have really missed it. I missed the energy."

As for how the conversation with Favre all came about ... it turns out, Brett is actually a HUGE country music fan who's been buds with KC for a long time.

In fact, Favre told a funny Chesney story about how he was once on the singer's tour bus with Vince Vaughn when the thing caught on fire!

Don't worry, no one was injured ... but Chesney sure as hell didn't sound thrilled it happened!!

COWABUNGA!

Some of the fastest legs in sports are now also officially the coolest looking ... 'cause Robert Griffin III just completed a tattoo sleeve on his leg with pics of the Ninja Turtles -- and they're AWESOME!!

RGIII's leg art has been in the works for months -- he famously got Hulk and Goku inked on his left limb back in September -- but he was finally able to finish off the piece this past weekend.

We're told Griffin turned to Nic Westfall, the same guy who did the original artwork, to add on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and a Black Panther piece ... and you can see in the pics and vids, it all came out great.

Westfall tells us RGIII came out to Sacramento to get the work done ... and sat like a rock for HOURS to get the ink all packed in.

Westfall says he needled RGIII's leg for the Ninja Turtles portion from around 10:30 a.m. to around 10 p.m. on Saturday -- only taking breaks to watch the UFC fights.

On Sunday, Westfall says RGIII returned from about 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to put on the Black Panther tattoo.

As for why all the superhero characters, RGIII is a notorious cartoon and comic book nerd ... even rocking a "TMNT" shirt and socks to the tattoo sesh!!

Patrick Peterson Pays Off Teammate W/ Sweet Donation ... To Take Jersey #7

Published

Forget Rolexes, presents and cash ... Patrick Peterson just paid his new teammate for jersey #7 in a WAY cooler fashion -- making a sweet donation to the guy's former high school!

The new Minnesota Vikings corner -- who rocked #7 during his college days at LSU -- wanted to sport the digit in his first year away from the Arizona Cardinals this season.

The problem? Quarterback Nate Stanley already had the number ... and Peterson didn't want to just railroad the 2nd-year man for the uniform.

So, Peterson made a trade ... in exchange for paying for new shoulder pads for Stanley's alma mater, Menomonie High School in Wisconsin, Nate gave up the jersey!

And, Patrick was stoked about the transaction ... joining Bryant McFadden on their "All Things Covered" podcast and explaining why he has so much love for the number.

"Once [the NFL] passed that new rule where skill positions were able to wear any number between 1 and 49, it was only right," said Peterson, who wore #21 with the Cardinals.

"I always wore it in high school, I wore it in college. I always felt comfortable with it. And that's what I felt started me. So it was only right to go back to my roots and rock that seven."

The move could be a huge one for Peterson and the Vikes ... when Patrick donned that number back at LSU -- he became one of the greatest defensive backs in college football history.

No pressure for this season!

Reggie Bush On Boseman's Oscar Snub Trophies Don't Define Legacy!!!

Published | Updated

Chadwick Boseman's impact on and off the screen goes far beyond his trophy case ... so says Reggie Bush, who tells TMZ Sports the actor's posthumous Oscar snub doesn't define his legacy.

Many believe the "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" star was robbed of Best Actor honors at last night's Academy Awards ... with Anthony Hopkins winning for his role in "The Father."

We spoke with Bush about the results outside Spring Place in Beverly Hills ... and he makes it clear Boseman's body of work speaks for itself -- Oscar or no Oscar.

"It would have been nice to see him win, but it was great to see all the nominees get a shot," Bush tells us.

"Chadwick Boseman, he's a legend regardless. No matter if he wins or not. A trophy is not gonna validate what he did. The work he put in validates that."

It's almost as if Bush is reflecting on his own experiences -- the former NFLer forfeited his 2005 Heisman Trophy after an investigation determined he committed NCAA violations by receiving improper benefits.

Even though his name and image were scrubbed from USC's campus and record books, nothing will change the fact that Bush is easily one of the best -- if not THE best -- college football players of all time.

Taking all that into consideration, it's no wonder Bush isn't sweating Boseman's snub.

There's also another reason why Bush was watching the Oscars -- did you know Andra Day, who was nominated for Best Actress, is his step-sister?!?!?

IT'S TRUE!!! Check out the awesome exchange Reggie and his mom have with our camera guy when they drop that truth bomb!!
