Sean Penn scored his third Oscar win Sunday night, earning Best Supporting Actor for his role in “One Battle After Another” … but wasn’t actually there to take home the trophy, and now we've found out why.

During Sunday’s broadcast, Kieran Culkin -- who was presenting the Best Supporting Actor category -- accepted the award on behalf of the absent actor, saying that SP “couldn’t be here this evening ... or didn’t want to.”

Turns out Penn skipped the ceremony because he’s in Ukraine ... Mykola Serha, founder of Cultural Forces -- a collective of Ukrainian service members associated with the arts -- told The Associated Press.

Retired Air Force Major General William Neil McCasland went missing last month … and his wife is fed up with all the misinformation about his disappearance. He vanished two weeks ago, on February 27, from his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Neil's disappearance has been getting some attention because he spent his final two years in the USAF as a commander at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio … which has a lot of lore when it comes to UFOs.

Here’s where the conspiracy theories come in -- many people believe the base contains evidence of aliens from a mysterious 1947 crash in Roswell, NM.

But Neil’s wife, Susan McCasland Wilkerson, took to Facebook to insist her husband “does not have any special knowledge about the ET bodies and debris from the Roswell crash stored at Wright-Patt.”

She wrote … “This connection is not a reason for someone to abduct Neil.”

She also acknowledged Neil had access to some pretty classified stuff during his time in the Air Force, but thinks it’s “quite unlikely” that someone kidnapped him in order to learn his "very dated secrets."

The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office in New Mexico says Neil was home and spoke to a repairman at 10 AM on Feb. 27, a Friday. Susan left for a doctor’s appointment around 11 AM … but her husband was gone when she got back about an hour later.

Police say his phone and glasses were still at home, but his hiking boots and wallet were gone … along with a .38-caliber revolver.

Investigators found a gray USAF sweatshirt just over a mile away from Neil’s home, but no one’s confirmed if it’s actually his.

In her post, Susan mentioned there’s “absolutely no sign” of her husband, adding … “Maybe the best hypothesis is that aliens beamed him up to the mothership. However, no sightings of a mothership hovering above the Sandia Mountains have been reported.”

A Canadian woman woke up on Sunday with a headache ... only to discover a surgical screw was poking out of her head.

Here's what happened ... 14 months ago, Stephanie Faure had brain surgery to remove some tumors, so docs put in a metal plate and a couple screws to keep her skull intact.

She told CBC News a screw "presumably just came loose over time and was making its way out. It kind of just felt like being scraped from the inside."

Naturally, Stephanie went to the ER at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan ... and sat in the waiting room for five and a half hours! To make things worse -- when she finally got seen -- the doctor completely blew her off and told her it was "a cyst that looked like a screw."

Being so ignored was frustrating, Stephanie said ... "You could pretty visibly see what it was. And he was just telling me it wasn't what I was seeing."

She wanted the doc to let her get a second opinion from someone -- anyone -- else ... but was told to get lost instead.

So, removing the screw became a DIY project ... her boyfriend used tweezers and some tools to get it out at home.

"The Real Housewives of Pretoria" star Melany Viljoen is in a bit of hot water after she was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing from a Florida supermarket.

Boca Raton police say the South African reality star and her husband Petrus "Peet" Viljoen swiped more than $5K worth of groceries from a local Publix.

According to local outlets, the couple was booked after a traffic stop involving their black Range Rover -- which cops say was seen on surveillance video driving near the store.

Cops say Melany and Peet were caught on camera doing something called "ticket switching" ... meaning they would scan the barcodes of cheap groceries but bag the more expensive stuff.

The pair allegedly hit that one Publix location dozens of times since August 2025, failing to properly scan around 392 items -- things like wine, toilet paper and sparkling water -- according to police.

Police docs allege Melany swiped items at the self-checkout while her husband distracted the employees.

They were both charged with aggravated grand retail theft over $3,000 ... and arrest records say they're each being held on a $10K bond.
