As you may remember, Sanchez got the chop from CNN last year after scoffing at the notion that Jews are an oppressed minority and suggesting they control the media.

Sanchez eventually apologized for the remarks -- and on Tuesday, he took meetings with execs at KCBS and KCAL in the hopes of filling the anchor spot on either channel.

The 39-year-old actor was pulled over for a routine traffic stop at around 2 AM -- when cops allegedly smelled alcohol on his breath.

We're told Chavira was given field sobriety tests at the scene -- but they didn't go so well -- so cops arrested him on suspicion of DUI. Sources say Chavira refused to take a blood or breath test.

Chavira was taken to a nearby jail -- where he was booked. He's currently being held on $25,000 bail.

Rosa's manager released a statement ... explaining how doctors discovered a cancerous tumor in the singer's abdomen, near his liver.

The 41-year-old singer is currently receiving treatment at a clinic in Houston, TX.

TMZ spoke with Barreto -- a Top 24 finisher -- who tells us he reached out to Secada after performing the Grammy winner's hit song "Angel" ... hoping to get some feedback from his idol.

Jon told the kid he was impressed -- and offered to take 23-year-old Barreto under his wing ... "kind of like a mentor of sorts."

Jovany immediately moved to Miami to pursue the opportunity -- and Secada tells us there are plans in the works to record something together in the very near future.

Samantha Swetra -- who starred on the MTV show "The City" -- filed a lawsuit against Paz in NY this morning ... in which she claims the HBO actress punched her and then hit her in the leg with a glass cup during a party on the roof of The Standard Hotel back in March.

According to docs, drawn up by her lawyer Stephanie Ovadia, Swetra claims she was "assaulted, beaten and battered" so viciously ... she sustained "severe" physical and emotional injuries ... "some of which injuries are permanent in nature."

Sources close to Samantha say she's still suffering pain in her nose and is having trouble breathing.

Swetra is suing for unspecified damages.

Earlier this week Paz appeared in criminal court in Manhattan -- where the D.A. charged her with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, attempted assault and harassment.

Lovato opened up to "20/20" about her recent stint in a treatment center -- where she was treated for cutting, bulimia and other emotional issues.

18-year-old Lovato said the cutting was, "A way of expressing my own shame, of myself, on my own body."

She adds, "I was matching the inside to the outside. And there were some times where my emotions were just so built up, I didn't know what to do. The only way that I could get instant gratification was through an immediate release on myself."

During the interview, Lovato also says she takes "100 percent, full responsibility" for attacking her back-up dancer Alex Welch last year ... saying, "I feel horrible, [She] was my friend."

Lovato says she hopes her story can "open up the eyes of so many young girls" who are fighting the same issues.

Paz just appeared in criminal court in Manhattan -- where the D.A. filed 5 misdemeanor charges against de la Huerta ... including two counts of 3rd degree assault, 4th degree criminal possession of a weapon, attempted assault, and harassment.

The judge also granted a temporary restraining order against Paz -- which even prohibits Paz from contacting Samantha on Facebook.

As we first reported, Paz allegedly threw a drinking glass at Samantha and punched her in the face during a party at the Standard Hotel on March 22.

Paz is due back in court on May 19.

UPDATE: Prosecutors told the judge Paz trashed Samantha during her stint in the police station on the night of the incident ... saying, "I'm a REAL actress -- HBO! She's a publicity seeker, a FAKE actress."

As we previously reported, Pia and Mark went out on a date the NIGHT AFTER she got the boot from "Idol" ... and have since ratcheted up their romance.

There's a report out that Pia unceremoniously dumped her caterer boyfriend Carlos Nunez to trade up to Ballas.

The L.A. County District Attorney has officially rejected the case against Rutler -- citing insufficient evidence to prosecute for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... Rulter's blood alcohol content was ultimately determined to be .06 at the time of his arrest ... which falls safely under California's legal limit to operate a vehicle, .08.

As TMZ first reported, Aguilera was a passenger in the car that morning ... and was arrested for public drunkenness when officers determined she was too hammered to take care of herself.

Shakira's publicist, Joseph Carozza, tells us, “There is no truth to this report. A fan grabbed her hand and she looked down. Her ring is still visible on her hand as she continued to walk through the crowd.”

Sources involved in the negotiation tell TMZ ... the deal was signed several days ago, and Britney is elated. Everyone involved in the concert is relieved Enrique Iglesias' ego couldn't handle opening for Britney and feel Nicki will be infinitely better.

Minaj, who is on tour with Lil Wayne until the end of the month, currently has two singles on the Billboard Top 100 -- "Moment 4 Life" and "Did It On'em"

Everyone connected with the concert series thinks Nicki will create even more heat for the tour, which kicks off on June 17 in Sacramento, CA.

Multiple sources tell TMZ, former “Idol” contestants Chris Medina, Rob Bolin and Tim Halperin are hitting the road on a 5-city tour, spanning 4 states -- starting off in Toledo and ending in Chicago -- and the majority of the profits will go to benefit Medina's disabled fiancée.

According to sources, 95% of the money generated by the tour will be set aside for the Juliana Recovery Fund -- a charity set up to cover medical expenses for Medina’s fiancée Juliana ... who suffered severe brain damage after a horrific car accident in 2009.
