Jay-Z is officially trying to lock down the Roc-A-Fella diamond hand sign for himself ... TMZ has learned.

The hip-hop mogul just filed legal docs to obtain exclusive rights to the iconic symbol -- which Jay's been flashing for years.

He applied for a trademark to use the diamond hand sign in a variety of entertainment services in either music, video, TV or film.

Interestingly, Jay was sued over the symbol in 2005 by Diamond Dallas Page -- but the case was settled out of court, and it doesn't look like DDP ever trademarked it for himself.

As far as hip-hop fans are concerned, Jay's always owned the Roc symbol -- this would just make it official.

"Throw your diamonds up 'cause we in this bitch another 'gain!"

Hannibal Buress is off the hook for his drunken arrest in Miami, courtesy of the First Amendment ... TMZ has learned.

During a hearing Thursday morning, prosecutors announced they were dismissing the case. You'll recall ... Hannibal had drunkenly asked a police officer to call him an Uber. When the officer refused, Hannibal got belligerent, and after arguing with cops ... they arrested him for disorderly intoxication.

The comedian's attorney, Brian Bieber (no relation), tells us Hannibal's exchange with the officer was fully protected by the First Amendment.

Jim Carrey's long, drawn out legal war over his ex-girlfriend's death won't end in a courtroom, because the lawsuits filed by Jim and her family have been dismissed ... TMZ has learned.

As we reported ... Cathriona White's mother and estranged husband filed wrongful death suits against Carrey after she died of a drug overdose in 2015. They claimed Jim had given her STDs and her despair was part of the reason she killed herself. Carrey filed a countersuit, and accused White's family of trying to shake him down for money

Now, according to court docs filed last week in Los Angeles ... both suits have been dismissed. They've been dismissed with prejudice, meaning neither side can refile. That's commonly a sign of a financial settlement.

We've got calls in to reps and attorneys for both sides.

Quavo allegedly beat the hell out of a famous jeweler during a Grammys after party at 1Oak in NYC ... TMZ has learned.

The alleged victim, Eric the Jeweler, reported the incident to NYPD on Tuesday ... according to law enforcement sources. We're told Eric and Migos were in the club early Monday morning -- around 4:30 AM -- when smack talk over money Quavo allegedly owes Eric ... turned physical.

Eric told cops he got jumped by Quavo and another man who was partying with the group. Sources in the club tell us the other man was not Offset or Takeoff.

We're told Eric got the hell out of the club with minor injuries to the face, but as he left noticed his $30,000 chain was missing.

Eric's filed a robbery report with cops. He's kind of a big deal in the biz, having made pieces for Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, French Montana and many more.

LisaRaye McCoy is convinced her home burglary was an inside job ... and she's taking immediate action to make sure it never happens again.

LisaRaye tells TMZ she thinks the suspect was someone who knew about the renovations going on at her San Fernando Valley crib, and also that she wouldn't be home. She's seen security cam footage of the suspect and says the person knocked on the front door to make sure no one was there ... then immediately bolted around to break in through a side door.

Unfortunately, she can't tell for sure who made off with $160k worth of her stuff, because the perp's face isn't clear in the footage.

In the meantime, LisaRaye says she's upping the armed security at her house, and adding more cameras.

4:14 PM PT -- John tells TMZ in a statement that he's very proud of his body of work and looks forward to continuing to create great characters, stories as well as sharing his music. He adds ... "It's unfortunate that what is a private matter between two grown adults has resulted in a public mud-slinging."

John Schneider makes crappy movies ... according to his estranged wife.

Elvira Schneider says the former 'Dukes of Hazzard' star's been a scofflaw in the spousal support department ... she says he's behind at least $150k and she's pissed.

In her new legal docs, Elvira says because John isn't paying her money, she's been relying on income from a Louisiana property. Now here's the problem. She says John hasn't paid taxes on the property, which she blames him on "squandering a large portion of his income via investment in his hobby of making low-budget, poorly produced film and television." The IRS, she says, is ready to foreclose on the property.

"Lean on Me" star Jermaine Hopkins is becoming the king of big breaks when it comes to pot busts.

Jermaine pled guilty Wednesday to felony possession of marijuana ... according to court officials in Wake County, NC. We're told Jermaine pled guilty and was sentenced to a minimum of 4 months in prison. Now, here's the break -- that sentence was suspended.

That means Jermaine skates on jail time, and instead gets 24 months of supervised probation. If he screws up, though, he'll be headed to the slammer.

TMZ broke the story ... Jermaine was arrested back in October when cops found 5.7 lbs. of weed in his trunk. Jermaine also got probation in 2011 after he was busted for buying 200 freakin' lbs. of ganja from an undercover cop.

He'll now have to submit to drug testing as probation condition.

The radio DJ who grabbed Taylor Swift's ass, and lost his job because of it, just had a not-so-nice welcome to his new job -- a bomb threat.

David Mueller started his gig at KIX 92.7 in Greenwood, Mississippi on Monday ... his first job since losing to Swift in that sexual assault case. Law enforcement sources tell us cops raced to the station Wednesday after someone emailed a bomb threat.

Chief Ray Moore tells us his officers evacuated the building and brought a bomb-sniffing dog through ... but the search came up empty.

Mark Salling was far from broke before killing himself -- and that's good news for his child porn victims, who now have to sue to get the money he agreed to pay them.

According to docs obtained by TMZ ... Salling set up a corporation in 2009 -- right around the time "Glee" took off -- to collect his income from the entertainment biz. As of December 2017, the value of this business was reported to be $1.971 million. His father is listed as the manager.

We broke the story ... Salling's suicide essentially screwed over the victims in his child porn case because a judge didn't get to order him to pay them $50k each in restitution. Salling agreed to pay that amount as part of his guilty plea, but the judge hadn't signed off because sentencing was set for March.

The victims will have to file suit against Salling's estate, and based on the actor's financial docs ... there's dough to go around.

Nicole Eggert is on her way back to L.A. and she's beelining it for the police department to file a sexual battery report against Scott Baio.

Nicole was leaving the Peninsula Hotel in NYC Wednesday when our photog asked if she was going to pull the trigger and go to cops.

She wouldn't comment on Scott's appearance on GMA Wednesday, where he essentially called her a liar and invited her to call cops, because he says he never had sexual contact with her until she was 18.

R. Kelly is getting away with his alleged sex cult because America doesn't care about underage black girls being victimized ... according to the father of one of Kelly's girlfriends.

Angelo Clary tells TMZ ... his 20-year-old daughter, Azriel Clary, is one of the singer's alleged victims. He's incredulous Kelly isn't facing the same fate as Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby -- and believes race is the only difference.

Angelo says Azriel was 17 when she met Kelly to discuss her music career. He and Azriel's mother were there, but he claims Kelly slipped his number to Azriel when they weren't looking. Shortly after that, she moved in with him. Angelo hasn't seen her since, and last spoke to her 8 months ago.

As we reported ... Joycelyn Savage's family also accused Kelly of cutting them off from their daughter. Just like the Savage fam, Angelo says police told him there's nothing they can do unless Azriel claims she's being held against her will.

Harvey Weinstein says actress Kadian Noble is way off base with her allegation he engaged in sex trafficking when she met him in his Cannes hotel room.

Weinstein is responding to Noble's lawsuit, and insists there was no exchange of money or movie roles for sex during the alleged 2014 incident.

As we reported, Noble claims Weinstein lured her to Cannes to discuss her future in the biz. In her lawsuit, she said Weinstein forced her to masturbate him and he groped her. In her suit against Harvey, his brother Bob and TWC, she said that was sex trafficking because Harvey enticed to make an international trip by promising movie roles.

In docs, Weinstein says that's absurd because he made no such promises, and Noble is merely speculating he regularly did this to other women. He adds ... the alleged incident Noble described is only a sexual assault, not sex trafficking.

Ayanna Jackson -- the woman Tupac Shakur sexually assaulted -- spoke publicly for the first time since the trial about the incident that sent the rapper to prison.

Ayanna describes the disturbing sexual assault ... claiming Tupac told her he wanted to share her with his friends and persisted to force her into a group sex situation despite her repeatedly telling him no.

Jackson tells VladTV ... her pantyhose and dress were ripped off by members of Pac's entourage while she was on top of him, and insists she was raped by Tupac that night in his hotel room in 1993.

DMX is going back to jail -- he was taken into custody in a Manhattan court Tuesday morning for failing drug tests ... a violation of his probation in his tax evasion case.

We're told the judge ruled X was a flight risk after testing positive for opiates, cocaine and oxycodone.

As we reported ... DMX was supposed to be completing rehab while he was out on bail in his tax evasion case. He'd been given some leeway to travel for performances as of late.

U.S. Attorney Spokesman Nicholas Biase says prosecutors referenced the video TMZ got of DMX last week. Something definitely seemed off as he preached in a St. Louis airport bar. Witnesses said he was drinking and buying shots for other patrons. Boozing is also a probation violation.

DMX's attorney, Murray Richman, told us, "I'm saddened and disappointed. We'll have to deal with it accordingly." He added he'll try to get X back into a rehab program. He's set to be sentenced in March.

The judge said DMX had told a "great big lie" when he agreed to his bail terms.

9:10 AM PT -- There was a hearing in L.A. Tuesday morning ... and the judge just made the ruling in Simpson's favor official.

Score one for O.J. Simpson, who just won a legal round against Fred Goldman over autograph signing. Ron Goldman's dad went to court to get an order forcing anyone who profited from O.J. Simpson signing autographs to turn over the proceeds to him to satisfy the $33 million civil judgement that has swelled to $70 million.

The judge has tentatively ruled Goldman messed up by failing to name specific people who profited.

Will Smith's fueling rumors of a 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' reboot -- in the cartoon world -- at the very same time some 'Fresh Prince' toys are in the works. Coincidence?

Yeah, it could be ... but here's the deal. Will posted a couple different photos Monday shouting out cartoonist and comic artist Howard Russell's animated interpretation of the beloved '90s sitcom.

Will says he never imagined the 'Fresh Prince' as an animated project. Wonder if the same goes for toys -- because we've learned the company that owns the rights to 'Fresh Prince' just applied to trademark a bunch of new merch.

The gear includes toys, action figures and kids' games, according to docs obtained by TMZ.
