D.L. HUGHLEY Trump 'Should Go To Jail' For Jan. 6th ... Only Path To Justice!!!

Published

D.L. Hughley says Donald Trump belongs behind bars for his role in the insurrection ... strongly believing any lesser outcome signals the end of justice as we know it.

We got the comedian/social activist at LAX and asked about the January 6th hearings, including shocking recent testimony about Trump's actions on that fateful day.

D.L. says he's already seen enough evidence to conclude Trump committed sedition ... and he says if the Department of Justice does NOT indict Trump and everyone else who was involved, the idea of justice in America is dead.

HANDS ON HIS NECK

The way D.L. sees it ... Trump weaponized the mob that stormed the Capitol and he was also behind the fake electors' scheme, committing the very election fraud Trump wouldn't shut up about.

D.L. says the hearings show the insurrection was way worse than Watergate ... and he says the reluctance of Trump and his defenders to go under oath speaks volumes.

TRUMP WANTED WEAPONS

We also asked D.L. if he had a message for Cassidy Hutchinson -- the right-hand person to Trump's Chief of Staff Mark Meadows -- who gave the committee the most dirt on Trump so far. It's safe to say ... D.L. isn't putting her on a pedestal.

CA Gov. Gavin Newsom Don't Let 'Em Take Your Freedoms, FL Come Over to Our State!!!

Published | Updated

California Governor Gavin Newsom just took out an ad in Florida for what seems to be nothing more than a troll effort ... poking fun at Gov. DeSantis, and conservatives at large.

Newsom's campaign ad is 30 seconds, and the word is -- he bought airtime on Fox News in Florida markets for this cheeky spot, set to run through the holiday weekend. It's pretty funny, 'cause GN's embracing rhetoric the right often use, including "taking your freedom."

Check it out ... the Gov. is addressing Floridians directly, telling them that their freedom and rights are under attack in their state -- via book banning, voting restrictions, limiting speech in classrooms, as well as criminalizing women and doctors (a la the new abortion ruling).

He goes on to say that he urges everyone living in the Sunshine State to "join the fight" ... by coming over to California, where he says the idea of freedom is still very much alive.

The whole thing is super ironic and full of satire -- and Newsom's getting a lot of praise online for going out of his way to stick it to DeSantis (seen as an up-and-coming star in the GOP) and right-wingers generally. Others, however, are raising an eyebrow over this.

Some have noted this stunt -- which has no bearing on his re-election chances in November, since no one in Florida can vote here anyway -- was expensive ... and probably unnecessary.

So, why do it??? Well, as political pundits have articulated ... Newsom seems to be ambitious beyond just California politics, and may be trying to lay the groundwork as a go-to Dem voice on the national stage in the not-too-distant future. He also probably sees DeSantis as a good foil ... because he too is seen as a GOP leader going forward, post-Trump.

Some say he should even challenge DT in the primary heading into 2024. In the meantime, his would-be foe is already warming up with jabs from across the country.

Texas Supreme Court Enforces Pre-Roe 1925 Abortion Law As 'Trigger' Deadline Looms

Published | Updated

The state of Texas is in a state of confusion as to what the actual law is over abortion -- made only more dubious by a decision its high court just handed down.

On Friday, the Texas Supreme Court overturned a lower court's ruling from earlier this week giving clinics/docs there the green light to continue carrying out abortions up to the 6-week mark -- allowing women a last-minute chance to get abortions before the state's trigger law goes into effect at the end of July ... which will outlaw most instances of abortion, period.

The reason the lower court even had to weigh in on this now is because pro-choice advocates sued the state after TX AG Ken Paxton effectively tried accelerating the trigger law date to right now ... via a loophole in an ancient Texas law from 1925 as his justification.

The 1925 law and the forthcoming trigger law are separate, but essentially enforce the same thing ... a woman cannot get an abortion in Texas, unless having the baby threatens her life.

Paxton apparently didn't wanna wait until the end of July for the trigger law to go into effect, and publicly declared this week that the old law of nearly 100 years could, in fact, be applied today -- both criminally and civilly -- seeing how it had remained on the books this entire time. Before Roe v. Wade was overturned last week, it had superseded the 1925 law.

After the lower court banned this enforcement through a TRO, he filed an appeal with the TX Supreme Court -- asking them to temporarily lift the ban ... which they did late last night. So, as of right now, that 1925 law is in play in Texas -- although, criminal prosecution for violating it is on hold at the moment, per the court. A hearing on this is set for July 12.

It's a stark reality either way ... any woman who was/is attempting to get an abortion in TX before the trigger law hits is now hamstrung with all these back-and-forth rulings.

Several other states' trigger laws have already materialized ... and when the rest do as well, it's going to be a mess as women travel to neighboring states to get abortions ... at the risk of prosecution. President Biden warned of this just yesterday, saying arrests will happen.

In other words, this is far from over ... and the ramifications are going to be felt for a while, at least until the next couple election cycles -- when would-be elected officials could do something to reverse SCOTUS' decision by codifying abortion rights through legislation.

Even that, though, isn't guaranteed at this point.

Busy Philipps We Want Justice!!! Marching in D.C. for Abortion Rights

Published | Updated

Busy Philipps is joining the millions of Americans protesting the Supreme Court's overturn of Roe v. Wade ... and she's making her stand near Capitol Hill.

Busy was with hundreds of other demonstrators Thursday in Washington, D.C. ... marching down a street near the Supreme Court with a giant banner reading "We Won't Back Down."

The "Cougar Town" star was on the group's front line as they sang "We want justice" to the melody of Queen's hit "I Want it All."

Beyond the marching and singing, Busy made it clear she means business when it comes to opposing the controversial SCOTUS ruling -- she was wearing a t-shirt that says, "I will aid and abet abortion."

SUPREME PROTESTS

As you know, protests have been nearly nonstop since last Friday when the Supreme Court finally issued its opinion on Roe v. Wade ... after a draft of the opinion leaked back in early May.

Security at the Capitol was beefed up to address any civil unrest, according to sources within the Capitol Police. The way they see it -- anytime there are crowds of people on opposing sides, it's a recipe for potential violence.

SWORN IN AT SCOTUS

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has just been sworn in as a justice on the Supreme Court, making history as the first female African-American Justice in U.S. history.

As we reported, Justice Jackson was confirmed to serve on the highest court in April ... replacing retiring Justice Stephen Breyer, who was nominated by former President Bill Clinton in 1994.

REACHING MAJORITY

Senate Republicans Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski joined every Senate Democrat in voting to confirm. During her speech on the South Lawn, she said, "It took just one generation to go from segregation to the Supreme Court of the United States."

GROUNDBREAKING TIMES

She was certainly put through the wringer while being questioned on Capitol Hill during her confirmation hearing, with jaw-dropping moments coming from Senator Lindsey Graham.

From questions like "On a scale of 1 to 10, how faithful would you say you are?" to getting grilled over alleged leniency in child pornography cases ... she kept her head held high as the days went on.

HIGH PRAISE

Justice Jackson got emotional when Sen. Cory Booker lauded her record as a jurist and promised "God has got you" heading into her confirmation vote.

Of course, she's entered at a troublesome time for America -- the entire country is still feeling the effects of SCOTUS' ruling to overturn of Roe V. Wade, doing what many believed was erasing half a century of progress.

Justice Jackson will begin her tenure on the court in just a few months when the court reconvenes after summer.

Donald Trump Fought Secret Service to Lead Rioters to Capitol

Published | Updated
UPDATE

11:54 AM PT -- Hutchinson went on to say, the day after the insurrection, Trump's advisors persuaded him to make public remarks to calm the country. She says Trump agreed, but refused to characterize the riots as violent, and Trump said he didn't think the rioters did anything wrong. Instead, he blamed Pence and, presumably referring to the "Hang Mike Pence" chants, Trump said, "Mike deserves it." She also said Trump wanted to say he would pardon the insurrectionists, but was talked out of it by his advisors.

Donald Trump was not only in on the January 6th insurrection, he wanted to lead the insurrectionists to the Capitol, and when the Secret Service refused to drive him there, Trump tried to grab the wheel of the Presidential car ... this according to Mark Meadows' right hand aide, Cassidy Hutchinson.

HANDS ON HIS NECK

Her testimony is shocking ... the January 6th House Committee called a special session so she could appear and tell her story about the events leading up to the riot.

Hutchinson testified ... Trump became aware on January 6th people in the crowd had weapons and were approaching the Capitol without going through security. She says she overhead Trump respond, "I don't f***ing care if they have weapons. They're not here to hurt me."

She went on to say Trump ordered the Secret Service to remove the metal detector from the area around his speech, presumably so armed protesters would be unfettered to approach the Capitol.

TRUMP WANTED WEAPONS

After Trump spoke to the crowd, he got back into The Beast (the presidential limo) and ordered the driver to take him up to the Capitol. The head of the security detail refused to take him, saying it was unsafe. She says Trump responded, "I'm the f***ing President! Take me up to the Capitol now."

When the head of security refused, she says Trump reached forward and grabbed the steering wheel and had to be physically restrained.

She says he then lunged at the head of security and allegedly attempted to go for his throat. Trump was again restrained and the limo proceeded back to The White House.

Hutchinson also testified Trump would often become enraged, throwing plates, pushing over chairs when things didn't go his way.

Trump has taken to his Truth Social platform in an attempt to discredit Hutchinson's testimony ... saying he didn't even know who she was -- and assuming she was only angry with him after being denied permission to travel with staff on a trip to Florida.

Ukraine War Flames, Shockwave as Russian Missiles Hit Mall ... Horrifying New Video

Published | Updated

The terror of Vladimir Putin firing missiles on innocent civilians is on vivid display in these new videos showing the shopping mall Russia just destroyed.

Monday's missile strike in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk destroyed the mall, sending fireballs into the sky and unleashing a shockwave on a nearby park. In the video, you can see citizens strolling peacefully when suddenly they have to run for their lives.

Some people took cover behind trees, while others jumped into a pond seeking cover from shrapnel and rocks that were sent flying. A massive piece of concrete from a building landed in the park, but luckily it didn't hit anyone.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky said there were more than 1,000 people in the mall at the time of the strike -- and the latest death toll stands at 18, with nearly 60 injured and another 36 people still missing.

As rescuers continue digging through the rubble, President Zelensky is labeling the missile strike "one of the most defiant terrorist attacks in European history."

He's also calling out the barbarism of Putin obliterating non-military targets -- "Only totally insane terrorists, who should have no place on Earth, can strike missiles at such an object. And, this is not an off-target missile strike, this is a calculated Russian strike -- exactly at this shopping mall."

John Hinckley Remorseful Over Attempted Assassination of Reagan

Published | Updated

John Hinckley -- the man who tried assassinating Ronald Reagan once upon a time -- is feeling remorse for what he did, and is and is now asking for forgiveness.

Hinckley shared his feelings Tuesday on 'CBS Mornings,' offering up condolences to the families that suffered for what he did. He struggles to recall what happened outside the Hilton hotel in D.C. back in 1981, when he shot then-President Reagan, Press Secretary James Brady, Secret Service Agent Tim McCarthy and D.C. cop Thomas Delahanty.

Reagan came within a hair's breadth from dying, and Brady was shot in the head and was confined to a wheelchair with multiple health issues for the rest of his life.

Hinckley says he's glad he failed in his attempt to kill the President.

He says mental illness was behind the act, and a jury agreed ... Hinckley was found not guilty by reason of insanity. As for his mental state these days, Hinckley says he's been one of the most scrutinized people in the mental health system.

Hinckley says he'd like forgiveness from all the folks he hurt, including Jodie Foster, with whom he had an obsession and fired the shots to get her attention.

Hinckley was confined to a mental institution until 2016 and won unconditional release just this month. He says he did the interview with CBS so people could see he's not a monster.

As we reported, Hinckley recently jumped into the world of music and even sold out a show in Brooklyn. It's since been canceled due to the venue getting flooded with threats -- but Hinckley is still planning to drop a 14-track album soon.

UFO Hearings Navy Ships Being Swarmed By UFOs?!? Expert Says It's Not Drones

Published | Updated

UFO expert Jeremy Corbell says at least 100 crafts from out of this world swarmed a fleet of Navy warships ... pushing back against a Naval chief who told Congress it was just drones.

Corbell -- who's long been calling on the U.S. government to take UFOs seriously -- says a dozen crewmembers on the warships told him the unknown objects showed otherworldly capability and definitely weren't drones.

The documentary filmmaker told the Daily Mail the UFOs present a serious national security issue and should not be dismissed out of hand ... in response to Deputy Director for Naval Intelligence Scott Bray, who told Congress he's reasonably confident the objects captured on video back in July 2019 off the Southern California coast are drones.

Corbell says the videos, which have been verified by the Pentagon, show UFOs hovering above Navy warships for hours on end, with at least one disappearing into the ocean without a trace.

051421_ufo_kal
THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE

While the Navy told Congress during last month's historic UFO hearing the objects were likely battery-powered drones, Corbell says the flight maneuvers would rule out drones ... he says witnesses in the Navy told him the objects moved from air to sea and even darted up into the upper atmosphere. He also says the objects were in the air for at least 4 hours, with flashing lights the entire time, which would drain man-made batteries in way less time.

THEY'RE HERE!

Corbell says he just wants Congress and the Navy to get to the bottom of who is behind the phenomenon ... saying it's important to figure out who is controlling the objects.

War in Ukraine Russian Missiles Blast Crowded Mall ... At Least 3 Dead, 40 Wounded

Published

Vladimir Putin is showing no mercy ... disgustingly firing missiles into a Ukraine shopping mall, and video following the attack shows the building -- with nearly 1,000 civilians inside -- up in flames.

Two Russian missiles were reportedly fired Monday into the shopping center, in the central city of Kremenchuk. According to officials, at least 3 are dead and 40 others are wounded. But, President Zelensky says, "It is impossible to even imagine the number of victims."

As you can see, the harrowing attack sparked a huge fire and caused a huge cloud of smoke to fill up the sky ... as soldiers and firefighters sifted through the rubble to search for survivors.

Zelensky confirmed the obvious ... that the mall held no military importance, and was not even near any other military target. Quite frankly, as Ukrainian officials put it ... the attack was a downright "act of terrorism against civilians".

Zelensky called it an effort by Russia to stop “people’s attempts to live a normal life, which make the occupiers so angry.”

Russia, on the other hand, has denied attacking innocent civilians since first launching the war on Ukraine, back in February.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time we've seen attacks of this scale. You'll recall earlier strikes from Russia like the one at a Mariupol theater, back in March ... where nearly 600 reportedly were killed.

Rudy Giuliani Grocery 'Assault' Caught on Security Cam Suspect Charged With Misdemeanors

ROUGH WITH RUDY
UPDATE

10:03 AM PT -- The suspect, Daniel Gill, was charged with three misdemeanors - assault, menacing and harassment. According to the criminal complaint, obtained by TMZ, Giuliani told prosecutors Gill made him "stumble forward." Giuliani said this caused "physical injury including but not limited to redness, swelling, and substantial pain to the back and left side of his body, as well as causing informant to be placed in fear of physical injury, and becoming alarmed and annoyed."

UPDATE

8:02 AM PT -- A law enforcement source directly involved in the investigation reacted to the surveillance video, telling TMZ ... "Much ado about nothing it seems. It was a pat. This whole thing is a stretch."

Rudy Giuliani's alleged felony assault in a grocery store was captured on surveillance video, and ... let's just say it's not as violent as Rudy made it out to be.

The video captured the moment, Sunday in a Staten Island ShopRite ... an employee came up from behind the former NYC Mayor, and you definitely see him slap Giuliani on the back and then exchange some words.

As we reported, the suspect said "What's up, scumbag?" as he struck Giuliani ... and you can tell from the video the guy's slap and choice words irked, not only Giuliani, but the team of people around him. Giuliani told the NY Post he felt a "tremendous pain" in his back, and the guy was yelling at him about the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

The suspect was arrested for felony assault -- it's a felony because Rudy is over 65.

COULD'VE BEEN KILLED

Although Giuliani said he was nearly knocked to the ground ... it doesn't appear that way in the video. Now, Donald Trump's ex-attorney is calling for the suspect to get jail time. During a news conference he said, "He hit me to knock me down and if that doesn't merit jail time in New York, we're in the wild wild west."

Giuliani, who is 78 years old, says any fall is potentially fatal at his age -- "It was a very, very heavy shot. He could have easily hit me, knocked me to the ground and killed me."

Rudy Giuliani Allegedly Slapped Across The Back While Shopping 'What's Up, Scumbag?'

Published | Updated
UPDATE

6:25 PM PT -- The suspect's been booked for felony assault, because Rudy is over 65 years old.

Rudy Giuliani was allegedly the subject of a physical assault while out shopping in New York, TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Giuliani was at a ShopRite store in Staten Island Sunday after helping campaign for his son, Andrew Giuliani, when an employee allegedly came up to him, smacked him hard on the back, and said "What's up, scumbag?"

We're told cops arrived and took the 39-year-old suspect into custody, who was on the clock at the time. Giuliani refused medical attention.

Police are still investigating and interviewing witnesses ... cops say some were shocked by what went down.

Andrew told the New York Post his dad is doing fine now ... adding, "It’s a sad day when New Yorkers' greatest crime fighter, 'America’s Mayor,' is attacked. I blame the left-wing for encouraging violence. This is crazy."

'Full House' Star Jodie Sweetin Shoved To Ground By Police ... During Abortion Rights Protests

OVER THE TOP

Jodie Sweetin, known for playing Stephanie Tanner on 'Full House,' was knocked back by police during an abortions rights protest, slamming her down on the concrete.

Jodie was with other protestors on a freeway in Los Angeles when LAPD began to block their path ... Jodie ended up close to officers when she got shoved back into the crowd -- tripping over the curb and knocking her to the floor.

The original uploader claims she was trying to lead the group away from the freeway, which was when she got pushed back ... the crowd began chanting "No justice, no peace," with Jodie joining in quickly after.

Jodie tells TMZ ... "I’m extremely proud of the hundreds of people who showed up yesterday to exercise their First Amendment rights and take immediate action to peacefully protest the giant injustices that have been delivered from our Supreme Court. Our activism will continue until our voices are heard and action is taken. This will not deter us, we will continue fighting for our rights. We are not free until ALL of us are free."

And she's doing ok after the incident -- the entire event was meant to be a peaceful protest for abortion rights.

We've reached out to LAPD for comment ... so far, no word back.

SUPREME PROTESTS

As you know, protests have been underway across the country and beyond since Roe V. Wade was overturned Friday ... some have been forming outside the Capitol, featuring both pro-life supporters and pro-choice advocates.

AOC Protests SCOTUS Overturning Roe Tells Crowd She Was Raped, Abortion Must be an Option

Published

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has made the overturning of Roe vs. Wade personal to make her point ... telling protesters in NYC she had been raped and thank God abortion was an option, although that never came to pass.

The NYC rep was front and center at the rally in Union Square, where she explained why the right to an abortion is essential as a path forward for many women.

She said, "I myself, when I was about 22 or 23 years old, was raped when I was living here in New York City. I was completely alone. In fact, I felt so alone that I had to take a pregnancy test in a public bathroom in midtown Manhattan."

AOC went on ... "When I sat there waiting for what the result would be, all I could think was: Thank God I have, at least, a choice. Thank God I could, at least, have the freedom to choose my destiny. I didn't know then, as I was waiting, that it would come up negative. But it doesn't matter ... This is for all of us. This is not a women's rights issue. This is an issue for all of us."

Abortion is legal in New York, but more than a dozen states have a trigger law that went into effect the moment Roe was overturned, which either severely restricts or outlaws abortion. A total of 26 states are expected to have such laws on the books quickly.

AOC was quick to add abortion will not go away, but for many women, it's going to be very difficult if not impossible. A number of companies have said they will pay travel expenses for employees who seek an abortion but can't get one in their state.

'RHOA' Star Eva Marcille Overturning Roe Hurts Black Women ... What Trump Wanted!!!

Eva Marcille is ripping the Supreme Court for turning back the clock and overturning Roe v. Wade ... she says it's disgusting and is concerned about its negative effects on minority women.

We got the 'RHOA' star at LAX and asked her reaction to the SCOTUS overturning the 50-year-old precedent that legalized abortions nationwide ... and she didn't hold back.

Eva says crazy is an understatement when it comes to wrapping her head around the country moving backward ... and she thinks it's going to make healthcare for women of color even worse.

What's especially frustrating for Eva ... one group of people forcing their beliefs on women's bodies.

And, get this ... Eva believes this was Donald Trump's endgame when he appointed three Supreme Court Justices in Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.

While Eva says folks should keep up the fight and be encouraged by some corporate responses ... she feels overturning Roe is going to be a domino effect in a really dark way.

Paul Walker's Daughter Meadow Says She Got an Abortion During COVID Overturning Roe is Heartbreaking

Published | Updated

Meadow Walker, the daughter of the late Paul Walker, has weighed in on the overturning of Roe v. Wade with her own personal story.

The 23-year-old revealed she had an abortion in 2020, just as the COVID pandemic began to rage.

Meadow said ... "Today marks a huge setback in history- a profound injustice to women across the United States. There are countless women who have struggled with making the decision to have an abortion. I too have battled with the choice but in 2020, when the world was collapsing during the pandemic, I sought an abortion."

She believes the decision should be "private and personal."

Meadow made it clear, her decision wasn't easy ... "I was lucky enough to have a great doctor who supported me through the debilitating process- with their help, I am able to be the happy and healthy person I am today."

That was the past, but Meadow says the future looks bleak ... "Now, knowing even more women won't have the opportunity to seek safe termination and choose their bodies first is absolutely heartbreaking. In a world that constantly marginalizes females, this feels like the biggest assault of them all."

Stars like Rita Moreno say she knows all too well what it was like to seek an abortion before it became a Constitutional right in 1973. She told Variety she became pregnant with Marlon Brando's baby. She says he demanded she gets an abortion and found a doctor who would do it for $500. The doctor botched the procedure -- it was incomplete -- and she bled profusely and almost died.

The majority of states are now expected to either severely restrict or outlaw abortion outright.
