... 'Pats Whooped Our Ass'

1/21/2015 10:54 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Under-inflated footballs had NOTHING to do with the outcome of the Pats vs. Colts game ... so says Indy linebacker Erik Walden who tells TMZ Sports they got outplayed ... period.

"I don't think it made any difference," Walden says of the flatter pigskins ... "They whooped us.  We got our asses whooped."

"It doesn't matter what was wrong with the balls ... they beat us by such a large margin."

Walden also says he doesn't think it's worth the NFL's time to punish the Pats -- saying, "You just got to give them credit for how they played."

"Hats off to [The Patriots]. They were the better team."

But when it comes to the Super Bowl, Walden joked ... "Just know I'm rooting for Seattle."

Rodney Peete

Deflate-Gate Is Stupid

Balls Didn't Make Colts Lose

1/21/2015 6:14 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
012115_rodney_peete_launchDeflated balls or not ... the New England Patriots kicked Indy's ass this weekend -- and the amount of air in the pigskin had NOTHING to do with it ... so says ex-NFL QB Rodney Peete

Peete -- who played in the NFL for 16 years -- says the whole "Deflate-Gate" scandal is being blown way out of proportion ... because despite the pressure in the footballs, "you still gotta play the game."

Rodney also says slightly deflated balls don't give a QB an advantage -- "You still gotta make the throws."

The NFL is not commenting on the investigation into the Pats -- but multiple reports say the league found 11 of the 12 balls were under-inflated by 2 pounds-per-square inch.

Colts' Sergio Brown

Ric Flair Victory Speech

... After Beating Broncos

1/12/2015 5:58 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Indianapolis Colts star Sergio Brown has kinda made it his "thing" to lead the team in a Ric Flair-style celebratory chant after a big win ... and after Indy whomped Denver, Brown came through strong!

So, how does the Nature Boy feel about the tribute? He loves it. In fact, he called Brown during a radio interview last week and told him the impression was "phenomenal."

Now, the big question is ... will Flair fly out to the AFC Championship for a tag team celebration?

Billy Bob Thornton

Andrew Luck Could Be Greatest QB Ever

1/8/2015 7:56 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
Ex-NFL coach Jim Fassel wasn't talkin' crazy when he said Andrew Luck could be the best QB to ever play the game ... so says Billy Bob Thornton who tells us #12 has insane potential.

Billy Bob was out in Nashville when he told us Peyton Manning is still his favorite quarterback of all time -- but explains that when it comes to the future, he's a big believer in Luck.

There's more -- Billy Bob (who's a HUGE sports fan) says the league is packed with talent at the QB position and gives props to another signal caller ... but it ain't Tom Brady.

Colts Owner Jim Irsay

Wobbling, Stumbling, Hammered

breaking news

Officials have finally released dash cam footage from the night Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested for DUI ... and the guy was a complete mess.

The 55-year-old was popped just before midnight on March 16th ... and as you can see in the clip, he could barely keep his balance as he stumbled out of the car.

Cops say Irsay had multiple painkillers in his system, including oxycodone and hydrocodone.

Irsay eventually pled guilty to one misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated -- and was sentenced to 1 year probation.

The NFL also suspended Irsay for 6 games ... and fined him $500k.

It's a miracle this guy didn't kill anyone on the road that night.

Donte Stallworth

Jim Irsay's Arrest Is Blessing In Disguise

3/23/2014 3:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Jim Irsay's DUI arrest could be the best thing that ever happened to the Colts owner ... so says ex-NFL star Donte Stallworth who tells TMZ Sports he has an opportunity to change his life BEFORE it's too late.

Donte knows what he's talking about ... 5 years ago, he killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes in a drunk driving accident in Florida and says he still lives with tremendous regret from the incident.

"Hopefully, [Jim] can look at the unfortunate decision I made, and learn from it," Stallworth says ... "He's lucky it wasn't more serious."

Donte says he's happy Jim has checked himself into treatment -- "It’s good he's going to get some help. The first step is admitting you need it."

"I've talked with people who lost family members to drunk driving. They come up to me randomly. It's a constant reminder of the decision I made" "

Donte recently tweeted about the lessons he's learning -- saying, "There’s nothing I can do to reverse that day, but hopefully you guys will think of me and make better decisions than I did that morning. You don’t want to live with these regrets I have from my irrevocable decision… Trust me."

Ultimately, Stallworth tells us his message can be summed up in a quote from Otto Von Bismark -- "Fools learn from experience. I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

NY Giants Co-Owner

I Believe NFL Will Punish Jim Irsay

3/18/2014 4:55 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
NY Giants co-owner Steve Tisch says he believes Colts owner Jim Irsay WILL face disciplinary action from the NFL over his DUI arrest -- telling TMZ Sports he believes the commissioner wants to "make a statement."

Tisch was out in L.A. Tuesday when he told us Jim's a "great guy" ... and he thinks his decision to enter a treatment center will make his life "a lot better."

But when it came to punishment from the NFL, Tisch explained ... "I can't speak on the commissioner's behalf ... I don't know what he's going to do ... but I feel he's going to do something."

"I think he's gonna make a statement."

FYI -- in the past 4 years, at least 3 executives from two NFL teams have been suspended by the league for at least 30 days because of DUI arrests. Because Irsay is an owner, he could face an even harsher punishment from the league.

Still, Tisch says the commish will most likely wait and see how the legal system handles Irsay's case before the league makes any decisions.

A rep for the Colts tells TMZ Sports, "Yesterday, Jim Irsay took the first step toward regaining good health. He voluntarily checked into a highly-respected health care facility and is committed to undergoing the treatment and care necessary to help him meet his challenges head-on."

The Colts did not go into detail on the nature of the "challenges" Irsay faces ... but the 54-year-old has previously acknowledged his issues with substance abuse.

The Colts rep adds ... "Jim, the Irsay family, and the Colts organization are all deeply appreciative of the incredible outpouring of support and compassion from our fans and the Indiana community."

As we previously reported, Irsay was pulled over late Sunday night for traffic violations -- and during the stop, officers determined he was intoxicated ... though police have not said if he was drunk or high.

Cops did say Irsay was in possession of various prescription drugs -- but the pills didn't match the prescription bottles.

FYI -- The Colts have been in Jim's family for decades. Irsay's father purchased the Colts when Jim was 12 years old.

Indianapolis Colts Lineman

Jonathan Martin Can Help Us Win

'He's Welcome Here'

2/28/2014 1:15 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF
A second Indianapolis Colts player says he's ALL FOR bringing Jonathan Martin to the team ... telling TMZ Sports, "I think he could help us win, and that's all I care about."

We spoke with a Colts lineman -- who didn't want to be named -- who tells us he stands behind Andrew Luck ... who recently went on record saying he wants to bring his former college teammate to Indy.

"I know J-Mart some," the lineman tells us.

"He's a young guy. A good player. A hard worker. I have no objections." There's talk that Martin will have a hard time fitting in with another NFL locker room after he accused several Miami Dolphins players, including Richie Incognito, of bullying him around. But the Colts lineman tells TMZ Sports, "It's just about football to me. The most important thing is that we block on Sunday and win games. The other stuff doesn't matter." The guy adds, "I could see some guys feeling differently, but I haven't heard anyone say anything." As for Andrew Luck ... the Colts lineman tells us the QB's support for Martin is very important -- "It does give you confidence that the quarterback of your team supports him."

KC Chiefs Star Eric Berry

'I Threw a Tantrum' After Playoff Loss

Then I Hit the Beach!

2/9/2014 12:35 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
Nothing takes the sting out of a brutal playoff loss like week on the beach on the beach ... so says Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry, who tells us he went straight to the tropics after KC's devastating 1st round defeat to the Colts.

"I threw a tantrum for about a week then went to Hawaii with my loved ones," Berry says.

We're told the 25-year-old Pro Bowler took roughly 15 family members on the trip to help him get over the bitter end to the 2013 season.

But what really put him in a good mood is when he found out his little brothers (who happen to be twins) accepted football scholarships to the University of Tennessee ... where he and his father played their college ball.

"It's one of those feeling that's hard to translate into words. Just seeing the twins grow up into the young men they are makes the whole family proud."

He continued, "Pops always talks to us about doing something great, leaving our mark and creating a legacy. They're handling their end of it very well."

Adam Vinatieri

During Field Goal Attempt

1/30/2014 5:48 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
He's usually flawless under pressure, but future Hall-of-Fame kicker Adam Vinatieri WENT DOWN like a sack of potatoes during a field goal kick in NYC yesterday.

The Indianapolis Colts player was a Super Bowl event where he was supposed to put one through the uprights for a bunch of excited fans ... but when he went to plant his foot, things took a turn.

Of course, Adam got up like a champ ... and don't worry, he still made the kick.
