Amanda Bynes' mom is dropping her bid to get a permanent conservatorship, but not because she's turning her back on her very ill daughter ... it's because she already has the ammo she needs to protect her.

Amanda's mom was slated to go to court Monday to make the temporary conservatorship permanent. But here's the deal. Amanda is currently on an LPS hold -- translation, doctors have a tighter rein on Amanda than her mother would have with a conservatorship.

And there's a twist. Doctors have given Amanda's mom the power to make medical and financial decisions for her daughter under the LPS hold.

The mom has already exercised her power by getting Amanda admitted long term to UCLA Medical Center.

Bottom line. There's no need for a conservatorship anymore, so she's withdrawn her petition.

And finally, and sadly, we're told there has been no real improvement in Amanda's condition.

Here's how bad off Amanda Bynes is ... it looks like she could be in a mental health facility for a year and a half.

Amanda's lawyer was in a NYC court today ... in connection with the case where Amanda allegedly threw a bong out the window of her apartment.

Her lawyer, Gerald Shargel, asked for a postponement for up to 18 months while she got psychiatric treatment.

Sources tell TMZ ... the likelihood is ... the case will be plea bargained ... there are major weaknesses in the prosecution's case. Translation -- the case could possibly be dropped altogether.

Model Vida Guerra -- famous for her backside -- had emergency surgery on her other money-maker yesterday -- replacing a breast implant that was creating a serious health crisis ... TMZ has learned.

Vida posted a pic of her exposed chest Tuesday morning ... showing her right breast covered by a large gauze pad. The problem was scar tissue forming around a gel implant.

Vida tells us back in 2011 she replaced saline implants with fancy new gel ones -- 450cc (or a full C cup). When she recently started having back pain and trouble breathing ... docs told her scar tissue had formed and had to be removed, along with the implant itself.

Vida got a new left implant during her 24 hour hospital stay -- but she's home now, doing something she never gets to do ... PIG OUT!!!

The fitness fanatic confesses she's been eating "everything in sight" ... especially pizza. Docs have cleared her to start working out again in a month.

Boob job lesson of the day: Vida says, "If I could do it over again, I wouldn't have. It's just more problems in the end."

Chris Martin has been scootering around L.A. illegally ... sometimes with his kid on the back seat ... but today, the Coldplay singer raced down to the DMV to finally get a valid license to drive in California, TMZ has learned.

Multiple DMV sources tell us ... records show Martin has never obtained a CA driver's license, despite the fact he's been tooling around town on his Vespa for weeks.

The license issue just came to light after his wife Gwyneth Paltrow dangerously cut off a school bus on a Vespa -- while her daughter Apple was on the back seat. It was later revealed that GP didn't have a motorcycle license at the time of the incident.

Paltrow raced to the DMV days later and passed her tests -- and today, her husband followed suit.

Martin was spotted at the DMV in Santa Monica on Wednesday -- with his Vespa -- and good news, HE PASSED HIS TESTS (we're told) ... so all is well.

Now check your mirrors and proceed with caution.

A Beverly Hills cop allegedly sneaked a peek at Whitney Houston's dead body and then ogled out loud ... but law enforcement sources tell us the allegation is bogus.

The incident allegedly occurred in the Beverly Hilton Hotel suite where Houston was found dead in a bathroom back in February, 2012.

Officer Brian Weir claims the Sergeant removed the sheet covering the body below her genitals and blurted out, "Damn, she's still looking good, huh?" For bad measure the cop allegedly added she "looked attractive for a woman of her age and current state."

Now here's what's suspicious ... Officer Weir filed a complaint with the California Department of Labor, claiming the Beverly Hills Police Dept. retaliated against him for lodging a complaint against the Sgt. and says he was removed from his position with the SWAT and K-9 Units.

Weir says he complained to his supervisor shortly after Houston died. But law enforcement sources tell us ... Weir NEVER uttered a peep about the alleged incident. There is NO record of any complaint ... period. We're told cops didn't ever know Weir had beef until they heard about it Monday.

One law enforcement source calls Weir's complaint "sour grapes."

Weir says he's been harassed and stripped of privileges since allegedly reporting the incident. But our sources say it's a bogus claim.

Just months after their divorce became official, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are back on the same team ... in an effort to sell their Bev Hills mansion for $20 MILLION!!!!

The couple bought the home together in 2004 -- and lived in the insane 5,500 square foot estate until they split a couple of years ago. Courteney moved out immediately, but Dave still uses the home.

The home had been pocket listed for a while -- but the couple didn't get the number they were hoping for -- so yesterday, they put the home on MLS for all potential buyers to see.

Britney Spears got off to a shaky start for her Las Vegas debut -- she got sick on the chopper ride for her big announcement.

Britney didn't say if "sick" meant hurled ... but it's a reasonable conclusion. She wore gigantic sunglasses in the dark night as "GMA's" Sam Champion tried to get her animated.

So here's the lowdown ... Brit opens Dec 27 at Planet Hollywood. TMZ broke the story ... she'll be pulling in nearly $15 mil for 48 concerts a year and it's a 2-year deal.

Ticket prices are pretty reasonable -- $59 - $179.

Now this is interesting ... Champion asked her about possibly living in Vegas and Brit was sketchy. Our sources (and obviously they're good) tell us ... Brit will "absolutely not" be living in Vegas. She has no plans to get a house there. "It's strictly in and out," said one source involved in the concert ... partly because she doesn't want to disrupt the kids during their school year.

We're told Planet Hollywood will make a gigantic suite available on the 52 floor. There are several of these mega-suites available on the 51 and 52 floors ... People at the hotel call it the 5152, which is interesting. Brit knows something about that ... minus 2.

9:20 AM PT -- Our Lohan sources tell us, Lindsay was NOT the person who picked Dina up from the station -- in fact, we're told Lindsay didn't find out about the arrest until the story broke this morning.

Dina Lohan was arrested for drunk driving in Long Island, NY last night ... and cops say her blood alcohol level was more than TWICE the legal limit.

Lindsay Lohan's 50-year-old mother was pulled over on the Northern State Parkway by New York State Police around 11 pm Thursday night ... after she was allegedly going 77mph in a 55 in her white BMW.

During the stop, cops say she appeared intoxicated -- and tested her blood alcohol level, which registered at .20 -- more than twice the legal limit of .08.

According to officials, "Lohan made an allegation that she was injured during the course of the arrest" ... but when medical personnel responded to the scene and determined she was fine, Dina "recanted her claim."

Lohan was hauled to a nearby station where she was booked on two counts of driving while intoxicated and one count of speeding.

After posing for a squinty-eyed mug shot, Lohan was released to a sober 3rd party. So far, no word on WHO picked up Lohan from the station.

Lohan is due back in court later this month.

Dina's been on a party tear this month -- TMZ obtained a photo of Lohan partying like a drunken sailor at a giant party over Labor Day weekend.

People at the party tell us she was a mess that night -- slurring her speech and zoning out.

David Tutera -- the host of "My Fair Wedding" -- followed the biblical path in his split with Ryan Jurica -- he gets one of their twins, and Ryan gets one.

The two men had a 10-year domestic partnership that blew apart in January ... and it got UGLY. And there was a big complication -- they had fraternal twins through a surrogate in July, and that triggered a bitter custody battle.

Now here's the complication. Each man fertilized an egg that was then implanted in the same surrogate, who gave birth to the two babies at the same time. It appears the eggs are from the same biological mother.

Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... a judge has issued a temporary custody arrangement in which David gets custody of his biological child, baby girl Cielo, and Ryan gets custody of his biological child, Cedric.

We're also told the two men are getting along. It's unclear if they will each get visitation rights of each other's kid. So we gotta ask ...

Ariana Grande is under strict orders from her doctors to keep her mouth SHUT after frying her vocal chords this week -- no talking, no singing, nothing -- and it's throwing a wrench into her big media blitz, TMZ has learned.

Sources close to Ariana tell us, the singer performed at Club Nokia Monday night in L.A. and badly strained her vocal chords. The next morning, she appeared on a radio show and couldn't sing.

We're told Ariana freaked out and immediately went to the doctor, who gave her the bad news ... no singing or talking for AT LEAST 4 days, meaning Ariana's team has had to cancel multiple media appearances, including The Queen Latifah Show and The Arsenio Hall Show.

It's a crippling blow to suffer at such an explosive time in her career -- her debut album just topped the charts at #1 ... and now she can't capitalize on the publicity.

The Game is giving $10,000 to the family of a 6-year-old girl who was shot and killed outside her family's home this weekend in order to help out with funeral costs ... TMZ has learned.

The story is heartbreaking -- 6-year-old Tiana Ricks was shot and killed when two men approached her family's home in Moreno Valley and opened fire, striking Tiana and her father.

As she lay dying, Tiana reportedly turned to her father and asked, "Are you okay, Daddy?"

The Game read about the tragedy and tweeted, "This very sad story hit me in a place nothing ever has ... Tiana did not know she was shot & kept asking was her father okay."

So Game decided he wanted to help -- tracking down Tiana's family and pledging $10k to cover funeral costs.

FYI -- Game recently announced he's on a mission to give away $1,000,000 of his own money to those in need -- he calls it TheRobinHoodProject -- and this is just one of his charitable contributions.

TMZ spoke with Tiana's mother Marquia Macklin who tells us, "Game told me that he heard about my story and was really sorry. He said that he wanted to help out and put me in touch with his financial team."

We're told the money is being wired to Marquia today. Tiana's funeral will be Saturday.

While Marquia says she's extremely grateful for Game's generosity, she tells us, "It costs so much to bury her ... sadly $10,000 only covers half of the casket and the plot.”

As for the shooting, cops are still on the hunt for the culprits -- and encourage anyone with information to contact the Moreno Valley Police Department.

12:25 PM PT -- Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell tells TMZ, Shellie was visiting her father this afternoon when George arrived and became aggressive. The chief says George allegedly threatened Shellie and her family, and had his hand on his gun. Shellie told police George then hit her dad.

8 officers are currently on the scene. George is currently being detained and has NOT been arrested.

George Zimmerman is being detained by police after allegedly threatening his wife's father with a gun.

It happened in Lake Mary, Florida this afternoon. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, called 911 and said her dad and George had gotten into a big argument and George had his hand on a gun.

We're told cops are at The Zimmerman house right now and have George detained for questioning. There appears to be no one injured.

Shellie filed for divorce last week. She went on TV and trashed George, saying he was making "reckless decisions."

Story developing ...

Apparently in Louisiana ... when someone says "This Bud's for you," they don't mean the beer, because 2 members of "Swamp People" just surrendered to cops after allegedly beaning dude with a bottle.

Cops say R.J. Molinere and Jay Paul Molinere got into an argument with a 24-year-old man on a highway -- it sounds like a road rage thing. The "Swamp People" stars then allegedly followed the guy to a nearby mini mart and attacked him with a bottle of beer -- which they just happened to have handy.

The incident occurred last month ... both Molinere surrendered yesterday and were booked on charges of aggravated battery and released on $1k bond.

The victim is nursing a black eye, and a swollen forehead and jaw.

Here's something you probably didn't know: the stars of "Duck Dynasty" are hardcore Christian evangelists who frequently preach at their local church ... and TMZ has video of some of last weekend's sermons.

A ministry assistant at White's Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe, LA tells TMZ, Phil Robertson and his family have been active at the church for more than 30 years.

We're told Phil regularly gives fiery sermons -- but last weekend, the entire family joined in, when the church celebrated Duck Commander Sunday ... a yearly tradition where the entire Robertson family preaches to the congregation in full camo (not kidding).

Funny... we're told the Duck Commander Sunday tradition existed long before the A&E reality show.

Drumroll please ... Aaryn Gries' Valentine this year WAS A BLACK MAN -- so says the black man himself, and he insists it's proof the "Big Brother" villain isn't the disgusting racist she portrayed on TV.

Shawn Onyechi tells TMZ, he knows Gries from college in Texas and they were pretty close before she left for "Big Brother."

They didn't date, but Shawn says they were Valentines this year ... and he knows for a fact she's NOT the racist pig she appeared to be on the reality show.

Shawn even tweeted, "Who thinks Aaryn Gries from big brother is racist? I've heard her comments, but personally I KNOW otherwise."
