The Game to Judge: Don't Call Me a Gangster

Published | Updated

Gangster rapper The Game doesn't want to be referred to as a gangster rapper anymore -- but it's not because he's changing professions ... it's because he's trying to win a court case.

The gangster rapper's legal move is part of a lawsuit that was filed against him in 2008 -- in which he's being sued for allegedly punching a guy during a pickup basketball game and then pulling a gun on him.

In the new documents, the gangster rapper is asking the judge to 86 all references to him being a gangster or gangster rapper during the trial ... because he's afraid it would prejudice the jury against him.

In the docs, the gangster rapper also doesn't want any mention of his lyrics during the trial ... because they contain references to violence and profanity.

Charlie Sheen -- Plea Bargain Hang-Up

Published | Updated

The prosecution in Charlie Sheen's Aspen case is not looking for jail time, but wants Charlie to either cop a plea to a felony or stand trial ... sources tell TMZ.

As we first reported, Charlie is more than willing to plead guilty or no contest to a misdemeanor with no jail time. And we're told Charlie wants the case dismissed outright at the end of the probationary period.

So the hang-up in cutting a deal is not jail time -- it's whether Charlie pleads to a misdemeanor or a felony. Charlie's position -- prosecutors in Aspen routinely accept misdemeanor pleas for these cases.

But we're told the Aspen D.A. believes Charlie has already gotten one free bite of the apple, because in 1997 he pled no contest to misdemeanor battery in a domestic violence case involving then-girlfriend Brittany Ashland.

We're told the Aspen D.A. feels -- given Charlie's prior -- a felony is appropriate.

Corey Haim Death Certificate

Published | Updated

Corey Haim's death certificate is coming out ... and we've learned the cause of death is listed as "Deferred."

Sources tell us the L.A. County Coroner's Office is waiting for toxicology results, and they could prove revealing on two counts. First, they want to see if Corey had fatal levels of drugs in his system.

But, we're told, even if there are no fatal drug levels, certain drugs could have stopped Corey's heart. The Coroner's Office says Corey had pneumonia. As we first reported, 4 drugs were found in the apartment where Corey died -- Valium, Vicodin, Soma and haloperidol, an antipsychotic drug.

Valium, Vicodin and Soma all slow respiratory rate and could stop a person's breathing when taken while pneumonia is present.

We do not know if Corey took the prescription drugs.

It's interesting that Brittany Murphy's cause of death was a combination of pneumonia and prescription meds.

The Question Charlie Sheen Can't Answer

Published | Updated

Charlie Sheen will plead not guilty today in Aspen -- weather permitting -- to felony menacing and two misdemeanors, but the judge could ask a question that could land Charlie in jail.

Charlie is currently out on bail for the Christmas Day incident involving his wife, Brooke Mueller. One of the conditions of bail -- Charlie can't consume alcohol or use drugs.

Our sources say Charlie has fallen off the wagon since his arrest ... which is why he's currently in rehab. If the judge asks Charlie about rehab during Monday's arraignment and whether alcohol and/or drugs drove him there, Charlie is in a no-win situation.

If he tells the judge he consumed alcohol or used drugs, his bail can be revoked and he could be thrown in jail. If he tells the judge he did not use alcohol or drugs, he could face a perjury charge.

Technically, all Charlie has to do is say two words -- not guilty. The judge isn't required to ask about anything. But if he does ... all bets are off.

Charlie is scheduled to fly out this AM from L.A. to Aspen. Flights were canceled last night because of weather.

'Jersey Shore' Cast -- Let's Get Physical!

Published | Updated

You need to be in tip-top shape to put on excess amounts of hair gel and fist pump the night away -- so that's why the cast of "Jersey Shore" is going to get their physicals.

Sources tell TMZ that Snooki, Pauly D, The Situation and company will be submitting to full medical check-ups beginning Monday morning -- including breathing tests and a work-up of their family history.

Roethlisberger Party Dubbed 'Ben-a-Palooza'

Published | Updated

Most of Ben Roethlisberger's ill-fated party weekend was thoroughly planned out weeks in advance -- minus the whole alleged sexual assault part -- and TMZ has learned the festivities even had a name ... "Ben-a-Palooza."

The Palooza is a tradition that Ben and his pals have put together for the past several years in which the Steelers quarterback and a group of his friends celebrate Ben's birthday together.

This year, Ben-a-Palooza began at Roethlisberger's home near Pittsburgh, where the group -- pictured above wearing customized Palooza shirts -- boarded a party bus bound for Ben's lake house in Georgia.

After the bus arrived to the home, several members spent one of the nights on a bar crawl in Milledgeville where Ben was later accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman in a nightclub bathroom.

Nothing spoils a Palooza like a criminal investigation.

I'm With CoCo Artist: My Life Has Totally Changed

Published | Updated

The artist behind the famous two-tone Conan O'Brien logo is rolling in dough now that his image is the face of CoCo's upcoming comedy tour -- and it all started on Twitter.

Artist Mike Mitchell tells TMZ that Conan's producers approached him about using the image to promote the former "Tonight Show" host's "Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour" -- and he's earned enough money off the deal to take a very, very long vacation.

He wouldn't go into the specifics of the deal, but said Conan's people made sure he was taken care of.

Mitchell still retains the rights to the image -- which was originally posted to the Internet via TwitPic -- and has been selling bracelets and t-shirts with the logo to benefit Haiti. According to Mitchell, he's raised over $25,000 in Haiti relief so far.

Also, with all the publicity, Mitchell says he's been inundated with requests for more original work. No word if Jay Leno's on the waiting list.

Clooney's Cousin -- Bad Guy in a Bank Lawsuit

Published | Updated

Miguel Ferrer -- famous for playing the bad guy in a ton of major movies -- might need to hit up his famous cousin George Clooney for a loan ... cause dude allegedly owes a bank $142k.

According to a lawsuit filed this week, Ferrer -- who played evil roles in "RoboCop," "Traffic" and "Blank Check" -- took out a loan in April 2009 for $150k.

A few months later, City National Bank claims Ferrer didn't make a few payments -- so the bank exercised their right to collect the remaining $139k debt.

CNB also claims Ferrer has a credit card balance with them in the amount of $3,245.90 plus interest -- the bank claims Ferrer failed to make payments on that too.

City National Bank is suing for a grand total of $142,640.57 -- plus interest, costs and attorney's fees.
