Washington Football Team What's in a NEW Name??? Snyder Eyeing 2 Favorites

We have 2 leaders in the clubhouse when it comes to the new permanent name for the Washington Football Team ... and one of 'em is inspired by that other brand of football.
Team sources tell us owner Daniel Snyder is strongly considering sticking with the Washington Football Team -- for good reasons that we'll get into in a moment -- but we're also told the Washington Football Club is also in the running.
Washington Football Team or Washington Football Club? WFT or WFC?
Let's break it down. WFT has a lot going for it ... head coach Ron Rivera has the team playing well lately. Yeah, they're only 6-8, but that's good enough to top the NFC East and, as of now, they're in the playoffs. Winning cures all.
As for WFC ... we're told some folks in the organization like the tip of the hat to Premier League powerhouses Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal ... all of which use the FC handle.
Now, we're told it's not a lock Snyder goes with either WFC or WFT ... but he is keen on both. The team hasn't picked a deadline to make a final choice, but it's reportedly eyeing the 2022 season to debut the new permanent handle.

"F*ck, Kirk! Come on! Throw the ball!"
Vikings superstar Justin Jefferson UNLOADED on his quarterback, Kirk Cousins, after an errant throw during Sunday's game ... and the wideout's mini-rant was all caught on a hot mic.
Here's the deal ... in the 2nd quarter of Minnesota's 33-27 loss to Chicago -- Jefferson was open in the back of the end zone for a touchdown.

— Steven Ruiz (@theStevenRuiz) December 20, 2020 @theStevenRuiz
The problem? Cousins was scrambling to his left and couldn't make an accurate throw -- leading to an incompletion.
Justin -- who's absolutely BALLIN' OUT in his first year in the league -- was NOT happy about it ... and screamed at the QB.
The clip went viral ... and after the game, Jefferson wrote on social media the outburst should not cause people to label him a "diva."
"y’all love blowing stuff out off proportion," the 21-year-old said. "And I ain’t no diva don’t get it twisted."
Jefferson ended up finishing the game with 8 catches for 104 yards on 11 targets. The team's loss, though, puts Minnesota squarely on the outside looking in for a playoff spot.

Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tajae Sharpe is paying tribute to King Von with his newest cleats ... repping the late rapper with an incredible custom paint job.

Castro -- who's worked with huge names like Chase Young and DeSean Jackson -- got to work on the special project ... and delivered an awesome product.
Each cleat has an image of Von on each side ... and features phrases that honor the rapper's background -- from the famous Chicago "O Block," which he repped, and his nickname "Grandson," which is also the name of his first mixtape in 2019.
Castro tells us Sharpe picked the perfect portrait of King Von for the cleats ... and the whole project took him 6 hours to complete.
Sharpe just signed with the Chiefs this week ... and you gotta assume he'll be hoping to wear them on the field in Von's honor.

Randy Moss I'm The Greatest Receiver Ever ... Terrell Owens Is 2nd

Jerry Rice ain't going to like this ...
Randy Moss says HE -- not the San Francisco 49ers legend -- is the greatest wide receiver that's ever lived ... and the ex-Patriot explained Rice isn't even #2 on his list!!!
Moss made the stunning announcement on Terrell Owens' "Getcha Popcorn Ready" podcast this week ... saying his Mt. Rushmore of NFL wideouts begins with himself and then T.O.
"I'll put myself first," Moss said. "I'll put T.O. second, and I would put -- I think Jerry is probably third or fourth."
Moss insisted the list wasn't meant as shade toward Rice ... the former Minnesota Vikings superstar simply believes he and T.O. changed the game more.
"I’m talking about dominating the game and changing the game of football," Moss said. "I don’t live on statistics because if you live on statistics and live on championships, that’s all political."
Moss added, "You’ve got to throw politics out of the game of football, and look at the impact of what each individual was able to make in the game of football."
For his part, Owens didn't have many problems at all with Moss' list ... saying Rice had amazing QBs for his whole career to help him with his numbers.
"He never had a drop-off in quarterback," Owens said of Rice, who played with Joe Montana and then Steve Young. "He went from one Hall of Fame quarterback to another."
Of course, most still believe Rice is #1 regardless of Owens' and Moss' opinions ... the guy has the most receiving yards EVER with 22,895 -- and he's a full 5,000-plus yards ahead of second-place Larry Fitzgerald!!!
But still, kind of hard to argue with Moss when he has games like this on his resume ...

Notre Dame's Brian Kelly Threatens CFP Boycott ... If Players' Families Can't Attend
-
Breaking News
Notre Dame could REJECT an invitation to the College Football Playoff if officials don't allow players' families to attend ... so says Irish head coach Brian Kelly, who just made the threat on Friday morning.
Kelly spelled out his feelings on the matter in a heated Zoom sesh with reporters ... saying, "I'm not sure we'll play in the playoffs if the parents can't be there."
"Why would we play if you can't have families at the game? If you can't have families at bowl games, why would you go to a game where your families can't be part of it?"
Kelly continued, "What's the sense of playing a game in an area of the country where nobody can be part of it?"
The NCAA had planned to hold one of its CFP semifinal games at the Rose Bowl this season ... and, despite Los Angeles not allowing spectators at sporting events due to COVID, the org. is still pushing forward with that plan.
Kelly clearly believes that's a ludicrous idea ... saying the NCAA should just move the game to another site so players' family members can watch in person.
"Maybe they need to spend a little less time on who the top four teams are and figure out how to get parents into these games because it is an absolute shame and a sham if parents can't be watching their kids play," Kelly said.
"My kids have been on campus since June. They haven't seen their families very much at all. They've had to fight through COVID, some of them have had COVID. They can't be around their families for Christmas, and you're going to tell me we're going to have a playoff and maybe one site can have families and the other can't? Please."
Kelly added, "Somebody's got to wake up in that room and figure this out or you might as well call this the professional league. I am so sick and tired of this playoff committee talking about having sites where you can't have parents at and their families. It's ridiculous."
For now, Kelly's Fighting Irish team is firmly in the CFP picture, currently ranked No. 2 behind Alabama and ahead of Clemson and Ohio State.

It all went down in the 3rd quarter of Las Vegas' loss to Los Angeles ... when Agholor dropped a pass and his hands came crashing down to the grass.
You can see in video of the incident, his whole body weight landed on his pinky ... and it looked like the digit snapped in half!!!
Agholor immediately knew something was wrong ... he waved his jacked-up finger to his sideline -- and trainers tended to him right away.
The craziest part about it all, though? HE RETURNED AFTER JUST ONE PLAY!!!
In fact, Agholor went on to record a couple more catches after trainers popped his finger back in place ... and the dude finished the night with a total of 49 receiving yards!

Drew Brees is BACK as the starting QB for the Saints -- just 4 weeks after being diagnosed with 11 broken ribs and a punctured lung!!!
The 41-year-old has missed the past 4 games due to the injuries -- and just this week, head coach Sean Payton suggested it would be another week or so before Brees was back under center.
But ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Friday morning that Brees has been cleared by doctors and will start at QB on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brees is NOT back to 100%, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini who says Drew is still dealing with soreness but plans on toughing it out.
"I was told that Drew has had a really strong week at practice," Russini said on "Get Up" ... "It started on Monday afternoon with trainers. They didn't expect him to look as good as he did. But they said he's sharp, he's healthy."
As for the soreness, Russini explained it this way -- "It's not so much about the health on the field, it's the next day -- dealing with that soreness."
"And while there is soreness there, [my source] made it very clear Drew is not 100%. He's more in the 85% to 90% range, he's able to handle it ... it's not something that's too overwhelming for Drew Brees."
The Saints are 10-3 and in 1st place in the NFC South -- 2 games ahead of Tom Brady's TB Bucs.

"To be real, I didn't even feel like playing tonight honestly," Waller said after the game. "I had no juice today. I thank God and the people that support me for speaking life into me today, and telling me to go out and play and represent him and to have him on my mind while I was playing."
"I feel like him and his presence and what his time on the earth meant to me is what motivating me to play football with a sense of urgency."
Taliaferro tragically died in Virginia on Wednesday ... a family member told Fox45 in Baltimore the former running back had suffered a heart attack.
Waller -- who finished Thursday night with a staggering 150 yards on 9 catches -- was teammates with the ex-Raven from 2015 to 2017.

And, during his 1994 season, Bumble Bee -- the tuna company -- produced a set of cards featuring some of the team's best players ... including Ray Lewis and Warren Sapp!
Bob Marley's son Rohan Marley was also included (he was a linebacker at The U).
Legend has it ... the 24-card sheets were handed out at the Orange Bowl during a game that season, but it was a rainy day and most people didn't save the cards.
In fact, there are reportedly less than 50 of the Dwayne Johnson cards from that set in existence today!

Drew Brees Still Has 'A Ways to Go' In Recovery from Punctured Lung, Broken Ribs
-

Drew Brees ain't out of the woods yet -- the QB still has "a ways to go" before he'll return to the field after breaking 11 ribs and suffering a punctured lung.
... so says New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton who told reporters the plan is to continue to be patient with Drew to make sure he can properly heal up.
41-year-old Brees has already missed 4 games due to the injuries -- which he reportedly suffered over the course of 2 games, Week 9 against the Bucs and Week 10 against the 49ers.
Payton was asked Wednesday if there was a chance Brees would be able to play on Sunday's Week 15 matchup against the Chiefs ... but that's seemingly out of the question.
"He's got a ways to go still, and he's someone we're not gonna just hurry back and just put him in the game," Payton said.
"I think the significance of the injuries are such that you've gotta make sure he can function and feel confident."
The good news ... Brees says he's making significant progress and hopes to be back soon.
"Each week I feel better," Brees told Cox Sports Television on Sunday night.
"I obviously have a plan in place as to the benchmarks that I need to hit in order to get to where I know that I can play and play effectively for this team. And all I can say is I'm close."
"There's a recovery element. There's a strength element. And I'll know when that time comes."
The Saints are 10-3 and still in 1st place in the NFC East.

Indianapolis Colts punter Rigoberto Sanchez says he couldn't be happier to return to practice on Wednesday ... describing the "crazy roller coaster" he's experienced since his recent cancer diagnosis.

That's when Sanchez got the news -- he has cancer.
"It's one of those things that you just never think is gonna happen to you. I never thought it was gonna happen to me either," Sanchez told reporters ... "Because I'm young, and when you're young you think you can do anything and you're going to be fine for a long time."
The crazy part?? Sanchez still got out on the field for Indy's next game against the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 29 ... saying his situation couldn't get any worse and he didn't want to put his team in a bad situation.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says the NFL is exploring ways to have fans at the Super Bowl -- specifically health care workers.
Goodell fired off a letter to Rob Higgins -- President of the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee -- informing him of the league's plans to reward the front line workers who have busted their asses during the COVID pandemic.
"We are currently discussing with public health officials our desire to invite vaccinated health care workers to the Super Bowl as our guests," Goodell says in a letter obtained by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
"Subject to their approval and in consultation with your team, we aim to do this in a safe and responsible way."
Goodell says putting vaccinated health care workers in the stands for the biggest game of the year would "help promote the importance of vaccination and appropriate health practices including wearing masks in public settings."
The plans aren't set in stone yet -- but it seems Goodell is optimistic.
He concluded his letter by heaping more praise on health care workers.
"We hope that in some small way, this initiative will inspire our country and recognize these true American heroes as we look forward to a better and healthier year."
It's an awesome move ... and the health care workers deserve it.

Jerome Bettis is putting on his Superman cape this Christmas ... 'cause the NFL legend is rushing to the rescue after someone allegedly stole a bunch of goods intended for kids in need from a charity.
A rep from Family Resources -- an org. Bettis is helping fundraise for this year -- tells TMZ Sports that at around 9:30 AM Tuesday morning, they realized a TON of gifts had been taken from their headquarters in Pittsburgh.
The rep says everything, from toys to coats to clothes, intended for around 400 victims of child abuse were all gone when officials checked in a conference room.

Tom Brady license plates are about to be a real thing in Florida -- and it's all for a great cause!!!
Florida officials have confirmed ... a license plate featuring Tom's image will go into production in the next few days/weeks as soon as 3,000 people commit to driving with it on their rides.
So, why??
State officials say it's part of an awesome idea by Tom's favorite charity organization, Best Buddies -- a nonprofit that helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Best Buddies reps say purchases of the specialty plate will lead to cash for the org ... explaining out of the $35 that it costs drivers to buy the plate ... $25 will go straight to the foundation.
And, because Tom has had such lengthy ties to the cause ... they say it's all the perfect win-win-win for all parties now that he's Tampa Bay's starting QB!
"With his recent move to Florida, we are incredibly excited to team up with long-time Global Ambassador Tom Brady for the new Best Buddies specialty license plate," the founder and CEO of Best Buddies International, Anthony K. Shriver, said.
"Since 2003, Tom has proven himself to be a committed advocate for individuals with disabilities, and we’re grateful that his commitment to our mission-driven initiatives will continue to create friendships, jobs, leadership development training, and inclusive living opportunities for people with special abilities here in the sunshine state."
Who woulda thunk Tom Brady would get a special license plate in FLORIDA before FL legends like Dan Marino, Tim Tebow or Deion Sanders!?!

NFL's Lamar Jackson I Didn't Poop My Pants on 'MNF' ... 'Didn't Pull a Paul Pierce'
Lamar Jackson insists he was CRAMPING -- not CRAPPING -- and that's why he raced to the locker room in the middle of "Monday Night Football."
In other words, Lamar says he didn't "pull a Paul Pierce" and fake an injury so he could take a dump!
Here's the deal ... Lamar was leading his Baltimore Ravens in a close and heated game against the Cleveland Browns (ha) when something went wrong with the QB in the 3rd quarter.
ESPN showed footage of Lamar scrambling to get to the locker room -- and to be honest, it looked like a guy trying to keep the turtle's head from poking out ... if you catch our drift.
When Jackson returned to the field, he looked relieved -- and balled the hell out for the rest of the game!
So, everyone thought the poop theory was confirmed -- he left, he crapped, he came back feeling better and dominated ... right?
I have so many Lamar Jackson questions.
— Emmanuel Acho (@EmmanuelAcho) December 15, 2020 @EmmanuelAcho
1: If you’re cramping you don’t run.
2: if you’re cramping you go with a doc to get an IV.
3: You don’t go to locker room for cramps unless TERRIBLE, so terrible that you CANT RUN! pic.twitter.com/VFb2lH977P
Lamar was asked about the toilet conspiracy after the game -- but adamantly DENIED the locker room trip was bowel-related!!
"No, I was cramping," Jackson said ... "I didn’t pull no Paul Pierce! I didn’t pull a Paul Pierce!"
Remember, Pierce left Game 1 of the 2008 NBA Finals in a wheelchair due to an apparent injury -- only to return to the court minutes later and led the Celtics to victory.
Years later, Pierce admitted he needed the wheelchair to keep from pooping himself on live TV.
