Justin Bieber can't seem to stay away from his girlfriend, Selena Gomez, for the holidays ... 'cause they're in the same town south of the border for New Year's Eve.

Bieber was spotted shirtless and soaking up some sun Sunday in Cabo San Lucas. Seems like he's excited, and why shouldn't he be? Selena's in the same hood!

Selena was also seen in Cabo with some friends Saturday in a would-be girls only trip for the holiday weekend ... except now, it's clear that Bieber's probably just a beach run away. Our bet is they're smooching when the clock strikes 12.

Mariah Carey didn't cut any corners ahead of her NYE redemption performance in Times Square ... 'cause she just completed a full soundcheck and rehearsal.

Mariah wrapped her rehearsal and soundcheck Sunday afternoon in NYC, where she's hours away from round 2 of "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve." Eyewitnesses tell us she completed her run-through with no issues, and looks ready for tonight.

It appears it was the real Mariah up there too, no stand-in like last year ... which, as you'll recall, didn't end great come showtime. It also sounds like you can hear her pretty well through the sound system now, which bodes well for her actual performance.

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel pulled the ultimate billionaire move -- shutting down an iconic portion of L.A. to throw his employees the most baller New Year's Eve company party at L.A. Live.

According to docs obtained by TMZ ... Snapchat and its CEO are plunking down approximately FOUR. MILLION. BUCKS. to rent out Microsoft Theater and virtually every venue facing Microsoft Square -- Katsuya, Lucky Strike, Tom's Urban, Conga Room and Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill.

We're told Spiegel's also planning to fly in SC employees from around the world.

The planning's been months in the making -- the ice rink usually at Microsoft Square through the New Year was removed just last week. We checked, and Snapchat secured proper permits to host as many as 5,000 guests who will be treated to a 105-foot DJ tower and pyrotechnics. There are also 2 full street closures to secure the area.

And get this ... there's gonna be a surprise performance and we're told it's Drake. Oh, snap!

Don't count on the Hollywood sign reading 'Hollyweed' come New Year's Day like it did last year, 'cause the area's gonna be crawling with cops ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us security is getting ramped up big time around the Hollywood sign on New Year's Eve to avoid another prank -- like the one Zach Fernandez pulled earlier this year.

We're told there will be extra officers assigned to patrolling the sign on Dec. 31, with more frequent police drive-bys up the hill as well as occasional helicopter fly-bys.

Sources say the LAPD's Hollywood division will have all hands on deck on NYE, and some of those officers will be tasked with monitoring surveillance cameras around the sign itself.

Holly Holm shocked the world when she slept Ronda Rousey back at UFC 193 ... but Holly says Cris Cyborg -- not Rousey -- is 100% "the biggest challenge" of her career.

Scary thing is ... she's probably right.

"I'm going up in weight and taking on not just a heavier opponent in a bigger weight class, but also a very dominant one," Holm told the guys on "TMZ Live."

She ain't kidding -- Cyborg hasn't lost in over a decade, and KO'd almost every chick brave enough to step into the cage with her.

Tyron Woodley's mother surprised the UFC champ on the "TMZ Sports" show to thank him for the incredible Xmas gift ... a brand new home in Missouri!!!!

And what ensues is beautiful.

Tyron broke the news about the house on social media over the weekend -- but we hadn't heard from his mom ... until today.

"I'm grateful to god for you," Tyron's mom said ... "You have been an amazing son. You're an awesome man and a great dad."

There's more ... it's emotional.

Michelle Obama and daughter Malia got some extra R&R during their Hawaiian vacation by hitting up a local yoga studio.

The former First Lady Wednesday was spotted at Corepower Yoga in Kailua, Hawaii where the Obamas have been vacationing for the holidays. Michelle looks incredibly fit -- as usual -- and visibly happy. That million dollar smile says it all.

Although Malia joined her mom... there was no sign of Barack or Sasha. As for the family as a whole, splitting your time between yoga classes and the beach doesn't seem all that bad.

Kim, Kris Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian were 3 of the celeb guests hangin' at J-Rod's house in Bel-Air for a "Taco Wednesday" shindig this week.

Kim was bustin' out of her black halter top and pink coat, while J Lo shimmered in a glitter dress. It's a tough call, but we'll say the host mighta outshined everyone. Among some of her other guests -- Leah Remini and Carole Bayer Sager, at least from what we could see.

Here's hoping Elsa Hosk starts a new kettlebell trend ... with her workout attire.

The Victoria's Secret Angel suited up in a lace leotard for day 28 of LOVE Magazine's Advent calendar. Her form was on point ... and her kettlebell workout wasn't too shabby either. Elsa strapped and chalked it up for some Russian swings, single-arm rows and goblet squats. It's all fantASStic.

1:22 PM PT -- Looks like Billie did miss the Christmas family reunion after all. She appears to have been checking out the northern lights in Norway on Christmas night, but with her mom in mind.

Carrie Fisher's family was under one roof this Christmas ... a year after the deaths of Carrie and her mother, Debbie Reynolds -- and they did it out of tradition.

Todd Fisher -- Carrie's brother -- tells us the entire family was together over the holiday, and that it was very emotional. We're told Debbie's brother, Bill Reynolds, was there -- he had spent every Christmas with Carrie.

Todd says Debbie had a long-running tradition of bringing everyone together for Christmas, and that she had even ordered Carrie back for the get-together last year ... it was on that trip home from the UK when she went into cardiac arrest and died days later.

We're told the Fisher/Reynolds family honored Debbie's custom by having dinner, watching home movies, and saying a prayer that Debbie's father would always say at Xmas -- which Todd says would start ... "Dear Lord, help us jump in."

Todd adds that nearly all of Carrie and Debbie's celebrity friends have reached out to the family to offer their condolences around this difficult time. As we reported ... Debbie died one day after her daughter, Carrie, passed away last year.

One last thing ... we're told everyone in the Fisher/Reynolds family was there, which leads us to believe Carrie's daughter, Billie Lourd, was also in attendance.

The Miz had an AWESOME Christmas in the Middle East -- singing carols, shooting semis and SLINGSHOTTING OFF A FRICKIN' AIRCRAFT CARRIER ... and he documented all the action.

That's right ... while the rest of us were getting cozy by the fire, the WWE/MTV superstar was out in the desert supporting the troops on a 4-day USO tour with celebs like Adam Devine and Iliza Shlesinger.

There were plenty of highlights ... but The Miz said nothing could top his "COD TAC line launch" ... where he and Adam were literally boomeranged off the USS Theodore Roosevelt in a military plane.

"I’ve been on all kinds of rollercoasters and nothing beats this. I literally tell (Devine), 'My balls are in my throat.'"

Props to Miz, Adam and Iliza ... and, of course, THE TROOPS!

Minka Kelly's checking out Hawaii for the holidays ... where the sun's a tad warmer than in her hometown of L.A.

Minka brought her talents to the Big Island where she took a dip and basked under the sun in this one-piece bathing suit. Nice job matching the outfit with that trucker's hat. She was there with friends ... paddleboarding and even helping her gal pal keeping her bikini top intact.
