Craig Carton Officially Resigns Focusing on 'Clearing My Name'

Published | Updated

Sports radio host Craig Carton -- one half of the famous "Boomer & Carton" show -- officially quit his job ... amid a federal investigation into an alleged multi-million dollar concert ticket scheme.

As we previously reported ... Carton was arrested by FBI agents last week after officials say an investigation revealed he bilked investors out of millions of dollars in an effort to pay off a massive casino debt.

Now with charges looming, Carton has tendered his resignation at WFAN -- which is owned by CBS radio.

Carton says ... "For 10 years I've had the great privilege of showing up to work every day at my dream job. I have nothing but love and respect for my co-host, the show and the entire CBS Radio family and I've always tried to represent them in the best possible light."

He continues ... "Unfortunately, the unfounded legal issues currently plaguing me will only be a distraction to everyone at WFAN and the show I helped build. With that in mind, I have submitted my resignation to the station and they accepted."

"I am sad to see this chapter of my life close but know that it will allow me to focus on my family, my well-being and clearing my name, while giving the show the best opportunity to succeed without further disruption."

Carton says he badly wants to tell his side of the story to his listeners, but "can't at this time."

No word on who Craig's permanent replacement on the show will be.

White House Press Sec. ESPN Should Fire Jemele Hill ... Over Anti-Trump Comments

Published | Updated

Donald Trump's mouthpiece is calling for ESPN to fire anchor Jemele Hill -- claiming her tweets calling the President a "white supremacist" are outrageous and unacceptable.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders -- the White House press secretary -- was holding a news conference on Wednesday when a reporter asked if Trump was aware of Hill's comments.

Sanders replied, "I'm not sure he's aware but I think that's one of the more outrageous comments that anyone could make and certainly something that I think is a fireable offense by ESPN."

Hill has never hidden her disdain for Trump -- and went off about him on Sept. 11 saying, "Trump is the most ignorant, offensive president of my lifetime. His rise is a direct result of white supremacy."

"Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists."

ESPN had issued a statement about the situation on Tuesday saying Hill's comments "do not represent the position of ESPN."

"We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate."

Larry King Doctors Found Cancer in My Lung ... Surgery Saved Me!

Larry King had part of a lung removed after doctors found a spot of lung cancer.

Larry says the cancer was in very early stages, and it was discovered during the summer when he got a chest X-ray. He says the doctors told him it would have been very serious if they'd found it 2 or 3 years later.

He says the cancer is all gone now after having 20 percent of the lung removed. Larry told Us Weekly, "It was fun to see where that spot was and there is no spot now. "

83-year-old Larry says he was back to work after just 2 weeks of recovery, and tells Extra ... “I feel good, I get my checkups, I stay healthy and I’m active.”

He already survived prostate cancer, which doctors treated with radiation instead of surgery.

Lance Armstrong Blasts USC You Crapped On Reggie Bush!

Published | Updated

Lance Armstrong just SNAPPED on USC, saying the school is full of crap for trying to rewrite history -- AND he's publicly torching the Trojans for the treatment of Reggie Bush.

This all started with USC officially listing it's all-time record against Texas (Lance's team) as 4-0 ... seemingly ignoring Vince Young's soul-crushing 2006 Rose Bowl game victory.

USC claims the record is accurate since the school was ordered to vacate ALL games from the 2005-06 season (including the Bowl game) stemming from NCAA violations involving Bush.

And since that season included the Rose Bowl loss, SC says it's 4-0 against Texas instead of 4-1.

Guess who ain't having that? Lance, who took to Twitter not only to punish SC for omitting the L, but also for what he believes is the utter mistreatment of Bush, one of the school's biggest stars.

"Negative @USC, we were there. You lost the game fair and square. Btw, @ReggieBush is a f*cking legend that you sh*t all over."

SC cut off all contact with Bush after they were hit with sanctions as part of an NCAA order to "permanently disassociate" from the sort-of Heisman winner. He's not even allowed on campus.

A lot of people -- including USC legend William McGinest -- have called for an end to the cold shoulder, but none as colorfully as Armstrong has.

BTW -- USC plays Texas THIS WEEK. Should be good.

Michael Bennett: I'm Gonna Sue Vegas Police ... Over Gun Incident

Published | Updated

Michael Bennett and his lawyer are making it very clear -- their plan is to sue the Las Vegas Metro Police Department over that August 27 incident where he was detained at gunpoint.

The NFL superstar and his lawyer, John Burris, sat down with ABC News where they doubled down on claims he was racially profiled when 2 officers ordered him to the ground during an investigation into a possible active shooter at a Vegas hotel.

The Seattle Seahawks star is still adamant he was detained because he's a black man who was in the wrong place at the wrong time -- and says he was physically and verbally abused until cops realized he was an NFL player.

In fact, Bennett says it was only when cops Googled him, the abuse stopped.

"I went from being a black man to a football player."

Burris has laid down the gauntlet with the LVMPD -- saying, "Unless something changes drastically that we don't know of, we're gonna file a lawsuit."

Mark Ronson Sued 'Uptown Funk' Has Too Much 'Bounce' And It's Gonna Cost Ya!!!

Published | Updated

Mark Ronson completely ripped off Roger Troutman and Zapp's funk masterpiece when he cranked out his megahit "Uptown Funk" with Bruno Mars ... this according to a new lawsuit.

Lastrada Entertainment, which owns rights to Roger and Zapp's 1980 classic "More Bounce to the Ounce" ... says 'Uptown' is a clear copy ... particularly the first 48 seconds of it. That portion includes the repeated talk-boxing of the word "doh" ... similar to the lyrics of 'More Bounce' in the 1980 hit.

"Uptown Funk" has been incredibly successful ... moving more than 11 million units since its release.

The suit, obtained by TMZ, also points out Ronson even cited Roger and Zapp as influences -- and includes note-for-note comparisons of the songs. Legalese aside ... you can listen to the similarities for yourself.

Lastrada is suing Ronson, Sony, Spotify, Apple and several producers to shut down future plays and sales of "Uptown Funk," ... plus an unspecified amount in damages. Bruno is not a defendant.

We've reached out to Ronson and Sony ... so far no word back.
