The man who attacked Paul Pelosi at his home with a hammer last year just got convicted in federal court -- and he's facing some serious time behind bars.

David DePape was found guilty of one count of assault on the immediate member of a federal official and for attempted kidnapping of a federal official. On the first conviction, he faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and 20 years for the second.

The jury reached their verdict in less than a day -- they started deliberations Wednesday afternoon, and came back with their decision Thursday morning.

DePape actually took the stand in his own defense for this case ... and he testified that he never meant to harm Paul, and that he simply panicked when his plot didn't go according to plan. He claims he was simply there to talk to Rep. Nancy Pelosi about election interference.

Paul, of course, had a different take ... testifying that DePape burst through his bedroom door that night and demanded to know where his wife was, with a freaking hammer in hand.

He also addressed the mysterious nature of the 911 call and the moment cops found both Paul and DePape at the entryway of the home ... saying he knew he was in danger, and simply wanted to remain calm in an effort not to set off the intruder and risk harm.

Of course, in the end ... he was hurt, with DePape violently swinging his hammer at Paul as soon as he started to sense the jig was up -- and Pelosi suffered serious injuries as a result.

Nancy wasn't home that night ... and she decried DePape's attack against her husband as violent political extremism in real-time. In response to the guilty verdict, her team says the family is ... "deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayers and warm wishes for Mr. Pelosi from so many across the country during this difficult time."

Paul has made a full recovery since the incident, and he's been by Nancy's side at a lot of events in the aftermath -- including a public outing on Wednesday evening ... where he, the congresswoman and others were hobnobbing with President Biden in SF to welcome Xi.

Cardi brings up his horoscope (Libra) and says she believes Libras are constantly being tested by others --speaking as one herself -- until they eventually snap ... seemingly referencing WS's infamous Oscars slap.

Basically, she sees it as unfair when people are pushed to their limits and when they act out -- the public gives them side-eye. She also thinks it's wild folks can get on a big platform and just say anything about anyone ... and that it picks up major traction, even if it's BS.

This is where she lays into Tasha K -- who, BTW, is the same woman CB successfully sued for defamation. Remember, Tasha technically owes Cardi about $3.4 million in a judgment.

It was just a few weeks ago that Cardi signaled an apparent softening on trying to enforce that payout -- but here, CB seems to be reversing course ... saying some people never change.

She lays into Tasha for allowing the supposed ex-friend/assistant of Will to get on her podcast and make such an outlandish allegation ... and says that has to stop STAT.

FWIW, Tasha keeps landing in trouble ... mind you, she just got sued by R. Kelly. Now, after Jada said a lawsuit's coming -- she could possibly see herself named as a defendant again.

Miles Bridges is slated to make his return to the hardwood on Friday -- the Charlotte Hornets just announced he's fulfilled the terms of his 30-game suspension related to a domestic violence incident.

The team released a statement on Bridges' status on Thursday ... saying, "We are comfortable with Miles returning to play based on our current understanding of the facts of the recent allegations and remain in contact with the NBA as that matter proceeds through the court process."

Bridges -- who re-signed with the Hornets this past summer -- hasn't played a second of NBA ball since he was arrested for allegedly assaulting the mother of his children in June 2022.

The 25-year-old forward maintained his innocence throughout the case ... but pled no contest to the felony domestic violence charge in court last year.

Bridges was handed the 30-game ban in April 2022 ... but was credited with serving 2/3 of that punishment as he remained a free agent during the 2022-23 season.

Hornets head coach Steve Clifford said earlier this week he expects Bridges to have a "significant role right away" ... and the team could use him, as it's currently 3-7.

Alec Baldwin was calling the shots on the "Rust" set -- telling the woman he accidentally shot and killed to get out of the way while he fired a prop gun ... as seen in new video.

The actor is clearly taking charge of the set as he rehearses a scene, which requires him to fire his prop gun. At one point, he shows concern for director of photography Halyna Hutchins, telling her to go stand clear of his aim, saying, "I don't want to shoot toward you. I want to shoot close to you."

You hear a woman asking people to move away ... it's unclear if the voice is that of Hutchins or the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.

The outtakes -- obtained by NBC News -- were shot just days before Baldwin unknowingly fired a live round that hit and killed Hutchins and wounded the director.

Baldwin was charged with involuntary manslaughter but the charges were later dropped. The Santa Fe D.A. is considering re-filing one or more charges against Baldwin.

Baldwin was an executive producer on the film -- although, the thought was it was more of a vanity title than someone who was in charge of day-to-day production. However, in the outtakes, Baldwin seems in charge of the action, at at one point after the director calls "cut," he fires another shot.

Prosecutors have indicated they will present the case, along with new information, to a grand jury ... which could reindict the actor.

Baldwin settled a civil suit with Hutchins' family. Part of the settlement included bringing her widower, Matthew Hutchins, on as executive producer.

Glen "Big Baby" Davis was just found guilty of swindling the NBA out of a ton of cash through the league's healthcare plan ... after authorities claim he accepted reimbursement for medical treatments he never received.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York announced the update in the case on Wednesday ... saying a jury determined the former Boston Celtics champion -- as well as fellow ex-NBAer Will Bynum -- were involved in a criminal scheme to defraud the NBA's Players' Health and Benefit Welfare Plan.

As we previously reported, a number of NBA alums -- including Darius Miles, Shannon Brown, Tony Allen, Jamario Moon, Tony Wroten, Melvin Ely and Ruben Patterson -- were accused of lining their pockets through the scheme by filing bogus claims for reimbursement with the league's healthcare plan.

Prosecutors previously claimed Terrence Williams, a 2009 NBA Draft first-round pick, was the mastermind behind it all.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams released a statement ... saying, "While many of the more than 20 defendants convicted in this case were well-known NBA stars, their conduct was otherwise a typical fraudulent scheme designed to defraud the NBA’s health care plan and net the defendants over $5 million in illicit profits."

Worth noting -- Davis reportedly made more than $33.1 million over the course of his career.

Billie Eilish is not only scared for her own safety, she's worried for her friends and family after one man has allegedly leveled a series of threats ... and now she's asking the court for help.

In legal docs obtained by TMZ, Billie says a man named Shawn Christopher McIntyre has been sending hundreds of messages to her and her family since September, including "disturbing professions of love" to her and "violent threats" against her brother, Finneas.

The star is requesting a judge to grant the restraining order requiring the 53-year-old stay at least 100 yards away from her, her family, and a close friend named Zoe Donahoe ... as well as barring him from contacting her on any social media platforms.

Billie says in the court docs that some of the messages he's sent include "I'm hunting your brother and his friends" and a voice mail in which she says he professed his love for her and threatened to kill her brother and Elon Musk.

He also allegedly wrote, "I’m sorry for what’s going to happen to your brother dude I  tried you know what I’m saying I really did try…"

Billie claims he's previously stalked her outside her home and near her family's home ... and worries "if he is not restrained he will continue his pattern of harassment against all of us, act on his threats, and go to even more extreme lengths to act upon his wild fantasies."

Arnold Schwarzenegger is being taken to court over his nasty car crash last year ... and the woman involved claims she may suffer permanent disability from the incident.

According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Cheryl Augustine says she was driving near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Allenford Avenue in Los Angeles in January 2022 when she got hit by Arnold's car.

She says Arnold was "wrongfully and recklessly" driving and was to blame for the crash and her physical injuries ... including the "shock and injury to her nervous system." She believes her injuries "will result in some permanent disability," too.

Augustine is now seeking damages to cover her medical expenses, property damage, and more.

TMZ broke the story, Arnold was driving a Yukon SUV last year when it collided with a red Prius, with his ride rolling on top of it ... and continuing to roll to the left right onto a Porsche Taycan.

Witnesses said the accident was straight out of an action film -- with the woman in the Prius, whom we're told was Augustine, apparently bleeding heavily from her head before being taken to a hospital.

Theater actor Linus Karp will transform into the Goop founder while Joseph Martin will take on the role of 76-year-old retired optometrist Dr. Terry Sanderson.

Remember, Sanderson slapped Gwyneth with the lawsuit in 2019 ... claiming she collided with him while skiing at Deer Valley Resort in 2016, and leaving him with a concussion, broken ribs and brain damage.

Gwyneth retaliated in court, claiming she initially thought she was the victim of sexual assault during the downhill disaster, insisting he came up from behind and his skis went in between her legs.

With social media hanging on to the opponent's every word, things took a hilariously out-of-touch turn as Gwyneth lamented losing half a day of skiing during the expensive getaway ... instead opting to go for a massage later that day. It's a tough life.

In further viral accounts, both parties painted contrasting pictures of how the accident impacted their lives ... before the "Sliding Doors" star emerged victorious and was awarded what she sought in her countersuit -- $1.

She then calmly walked out of the courtroom ... but not before icily whispering to Sanderson ... "I wish you well." That's gonna play well on stage!

With the case drawing massive interest at the time, it's only fitting that it's been given a fresh lease on life in musical form.

The synopsis reads: "She's the Goop-founding, Door-Sliding, Shakespeare-In-Loving, consciously-uncoupling Hollywood superstar. He's a retired Optometrist from Utah. In 2016, they went skiing. On the slopes of Deer Valley, their worlds collided, and so did they – literally. Ouch. Seven years later in 2023, they went to court. Double ouch. This is their story. Kind of. Not really. But also, it's at Christmas."

The show will run from December 13 to 23 at Pleasance London Main House Cabaret -- with the production given a camp makeover with original music from Leland -- the singer behind "RuPaul's Drag Race" and "Cher's Christmas".

Eight high school students in Las Vegas are facing murder charges after being arrested in connection with the fatal beating of fellow student Jonathan Lewis.

The 17-year-old died earlier this month as a result of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in a beatdown near Rancho High School ... and the Clark County coroner's office listed the manner of death as a homicide, leading to a slew of arrests.

Cops in Sin City announced Tuesday all 8 arrested are between the ages of 13 and 17 ... and they're students at Rancho High.

With the assistance of the FBI, cops took all 8 students into custody Tuesday morning ... and law enforcement is still working to identify 2 more teens believed to be involved in the fatal beatdown.

The incident happened Nov. 1 after school let out, and video shows Jonathan getting beaten by a bunch of students. Police say the fight started over stolen wireless headphones and possibly a stolen vape pen ... with everyone agreeing to meet in an alley and fight over it.

While the video appears to show Jonathan, who is white, getting swarmed by mostly Black kids ... cops say the incident is not being considered a hate crime -- but note the beating was "void of humanity."
