Harvey Weinstein L.A. County D.A. Reviewing 2 Cases For Possible Criminal Charges

Published | Updated

Beverly Hills PD has sent 2 Harvey Weinstein cases to the L.A. County District Attorney's Office ... TMZ has learned.

The D.A's Office tells us it's currently reviewing the results of 2 BHPD investigations. It's a huge step -- no previous Weinstein criminal investigation has gotten this far. The next step would be for the D.A. to decide if there's enough evidence to charge Weinstein.

Of course, dozens of Weinstein's accusers claim their encounters went down at the Peninsula hotel in Beverly Hills. It's unclear which cases the cops sent to the D.A.

Back in October, Bev Hills cops announced they would investigate allegations against Weinstein and director James Toback. We're told police also sent 5 Toback cases to the D.A for review.

Nick Cannon Defends Chris Brown Black Men Unfairly Targeted

Published | Updated

Nick Cannon thinks there's a double standard in Hollywood when it comes to actors with checkered pasts ... and it favors white guys over black guys.

Cannon quickly snapped back at our guy at LAX Wednesday when he asked Nick about all the hate over teaming up with Chris Brown for a new movie because of CB's history with domestic violence.

"What about Sean Penn?" Nick asked, "They ever hate on his past and the movies he did?"

For the record -- Penn's faced allegations for years that he abused Madonna while they were married in the '80s ... but Madonna claims Penn never struck her. Brown was convicted of felony assault for beating up Rihanna.

Still, Cannon says society wants to make black men look like monsters anytime they can. He also tells us his upcoming movie with Brown -- an indie flick called "She Ball" about a women's street basketball team -- is going to be a must-see.

He gives his ex, Mariah Carey, a vote of confidence for her NYE redemption performance, too.

Roman Polanski Fugitive Rain Man

Published | Updated

Roman Polanski would clearly rather endure the cold in Switzerland than feel the heat in the U.S. ... as he remains a fugitive from justice for raping a 13-year-old girl 40 years ago.

The famed director of "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Pianist" sought cover with the help of an umbrella Saturday in Gstaad.

Speaking of climate ... any talk of the 84-year-old trying to come back to the U.S. has to be put on ice, given the torrent of sexual assault claims against famous Hollywood types.

Balthazar Getty I'm Skipping Movie About Dad's Kidnapping

Published | Updated

"All the Money in the World" hits very close to home for Balthazar Getty -- the story's about the 1973 abduction of his father, John Paul Getty III -- and for that reason ... he says he's not going to see it.

We got the actor at LAX Wednesday getting ready for vacay and asked for his thoughts on the movie, but he says the fam decided to stay mum. He does concede it's an interesting story.

As we reported ... Kevin Spacey was set to play the role of Getty's great-grandfather -- J. Paul Getty, who refused to pay the $17 mil ransom to get John back -- but got axed amid allegations of sexual assault and was replaced by Christopher Plummer.

When asked about that, Balthazar had a lot more to say ... specifically on the subject of karma.

'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' Mom Store was Ready to Bust Her ... 'Cause She Allegedly Shoplifted Before

Published | Updated

Lainie Kazan had a whole shoplifting routine down before she was caught red-handed, which is why the store was ready at the exit as she allegedly tried to shoplift on Xmas Eve ... sources at the store tell TMZ.

We're told the mom from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" came into the same Gelson's supermarket where she was arrested for petty theft on Christmas Eve at least a couple times before and stole stuff ... before she eventually got busted.

Gelson's employees told us they saw a pattern with Kazan -- she would fill up her basket and pretend to walk toward the checkout line, but would then make a quick exit out the door as another group of customers was leaving. We're told security footage backs this up.

Workers were ready for her the last time she came in, and notified the folks in loss prevention ... who were waiting to bust her at the exit. We're told they waited for Kazan to get outside before nabbing her.

As we reported ... her cart had about $180 worth of groceries, and we're told it included cleaning supplies (Comet and Pledge), a hot rotisserie chicken, tomatoes, some Jell-O ... and uncured pepperoni.

We reached out to Kazan ... her attorney, Mark Werksman, tells us the store didn't give Lainie a chance to pay for her items before it made moves to get her arrested, calling it a misunderstanding. Werksman also denies Lainie ever stole from Gelson's in the past. He says Gelson's "overreacted and didn't give her a chance to pay."

UFC's Khabib Nurmagomedov Hell Yeah, I Rooted for Drago ... in 'Rocky IV'

Khabib on Olympics
ROOT FOR THE MOTHERLAND

UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov just made himself Public Enemy #1 to all the Rocky Balboa fans across the country ... telling TMZ Sports that he's Team Ivan Drago!

Disclaimer: Khabib is 100% Russian ... which almost makes it OK that he rooted against the Italian Stallion in "Rocky IV." Almost.

"He’s from Russia. He's from USSR. Of course I support him," Nurmagomedov -- who's fighting this weekend at UFC 219 -- told us while out in Century City, L.A.

FYI, Drago (and his spawn) are playing a BIG role in "Creed 2" ... but no word if they're gonna avenge the brutal 'L' that Rocky handed Ivan back in the day.

Bonus: Khabib wasn't too happy with Russia's ban from the 2018 Winter Games ... and dropped some pretty serious shade on the International Olympics Committee.

Published | Updated

He's already producing and acting in the movie -- but now Mark Wahlberg is making a play to DIRECT his upcoming movie about the life of NBA star Caron Butler.

We broke the story ... Wahlberg has been targeting huge names like Spike Lee, Peter Berg and Barry Jenkins to direct the flick about Butler's journey from dealing drugs to becoming an NBA all-star.

Our sources say Wahlberg is very passionate about the project -- and thinks it could be the perfect movie to make his directorial debut.

Wahlberg gave a clue during an interview with Collider, saying he has "one specific project" he'd love to direct ... teasing "it takes place in Wisconsin. It's a true story."

And guess where Caron Butler grew up? WISCONSIN!!!

Boom.

One problem (that's not really a problem) -- Wahlberg says he thinks Peter Berg is REALLLY going to want the project ... jokingly saying, "I made the mistake of sending him the script."

Not a bad problem to have ...

Sean Penn Bring Your Hot Daughter ... To the Beach Day!

Published | Updated

Dylan Penn looked like a chip off the old block in Hawaii ... flaunting her best traits from both mom and dad.

Sean Penn's model daughter was seen taking a stroll along the waves in Oahu -- where her pops is a part-time resident -- and even with earbuds in and shades on ... she was smokin' in the water.

Sean was nearby, apparently going for more of the beach bum vibe ... chilling out on the sand, and looking deep in thought. We're told he kept his distance as Dylan jammed out, and eventually went back into his house.

No sign of mama bear, Robin Wright, here -- but she and Sean have gotta be proud of their kid for channeling the family's good looks when it counts.

Mark Wahlberg's looking absolutely shredded these days ... so there's clearly no reason for him to ever put a shirt back on, right?

It's funny -- just a day earlier, Wahlberg popped in on one of our TMZ Tour buses and sent the group into a frenzy ... but just imagine the reaction if he was shirtless then too.

Nick Cassavetes My Baby Mama Outright Stole Our Daughter

Published | Updated

11:11 AM PT -- Nick has filed legal docs asking the judge to penalize Heather's mother and aunt for allegedly conspiring with Heather to steal his child. He wants more than $10,000 in penalties and wants that amount to grow for each day she wrongfully keeps Barbie away from him.

Nick Cassavetes went on the attack against his baby mama because of a custody agreement she signed and then violated ... TMZ has learned.

As we reported, Nick told authorities in Oklahoma Heather Wahlquist was hiding their 13-year-old daughter, Barbie, somewhere in Norman, Oklahoma, despite the fact that their agreement gave him custody during the Xmas holiday.

According to the custody agreement, obtained by TMZ, Heather and Barbie were supposed to return to L.A. by December 18 and he would have custody through January 8. Nick claims Heather has been on the lam with their child, flagrantly violating the agreement.

Heather claims she signed the custody agreement under duress, claiming he was holding their daughter hostage until she put pen to paper and signed.

Heather claims the director of "The Notebook" did not properly care for Barbie, citing an incident a few months back when he returned Barbie to Heather and she had a severe bacterial infection that left her eyes blood red and oozing. She attributes the illness to Nick's "unkempt party house."

She has a laundry list of complaints against Nick, from substance abuse allegations to gambling. She also bizarrely claims Nick had a tattoo of him having sex with her mom doggie style which mortified their daughter.

Nick and Heather are due in court next week ... he's asking a judge to lay down the law and force Heather to comply with their agreement.

"Go Patriots. Go James Harrison."

Nick Cassavetes He's Evil and Out for Revenge ... Says Grandmother of His Child

Nick Cassavetes is the embodiment of evil who has waged a campaign of revenge against his ex-wife for leaving him ... this according to the ex-wife's mother.

Linda Massad tells TMZ the famed director has scared her family so much they have gone into hiding. She tearfully described the scene at her house where strange people have been showing up ... she's worried someone has put out a hit, but she offered no evidence to support the claim.

Linda does say "The Notebook" director strong-armed her daughter, Heather Wahlquist, into giving Nick certain custody rights over 13-year-old daughter Barbie, and says she's worried sick he's going to take their child and run.

We reached out to Nick for comment ... so far, no word back.

Dr. Evazan in 'Star Wars' Actor Alfie Curtis Dead at 87 1 Year After Carrie Fisher

Published | Updated

Alfie Curtis, the man who played the disfigured thug that tried picking a fight with Luke Skywalker in the first 'Star Wars,' has died ... a year after Carrie Fisher's death.

Curtis, who played the uncredited Dr. Evazan, in George Lucas' 'A New Hope' reportedly passed away this week, according to Comicbook.com. Mark Hamill reacted to the actor's death Tuesday by posting a tribute on Twitter.

Curtis took a lightsaber to the chest from Obi-Wan Kenobi after he knocked over Luke at the Mos Eisley Cantina -- where "you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy" ... according to Obi, anyway.

The British actor also starred in "The Elephant Man," "The Wildcats of St. Trinian's," "Take It or Leave It," and a number TV series from the 1970s and '80s.

His death falls upon the first death anniversary of Fisher, who played Princess Leia in 'Star Wars.' He was 87. RIP ... and may the force be with you.

Sylvester Stallone Drops 6 Figures ... On Iconic 'Rocky' Statue!

Published | Updated

Yo, Adrian ... Sylvester Stallone just bought the backup "Rocky" statue from "Rocky III" -- and all it cost him was $400,000!!!

It's a great story -- the statue was one of two Rocky statues made by the original artist, A. Thomas Schomberg. The original was used in the movie and is now on display in Philly.

The backup had been on display for years in the San Diego Hall of Champions, but that place closed down so the Rocky #2 statue hit the auction block last month with SCP Auctions.

A rep for SCP could only tell TMZ Sports ... the 9-foot tall, 1,800-pound piece was sold for $403,657 to a new customer (through a buyer) and the statue was shipped to L.A.

Fast forward to Christmas Day -- when Sly and Arnold Schwarzenegger posed in front of the statue at Stallone's house! A source connected to the auction confirms Stallone was indeed the mystery buyer.

So, Rocky has been reunited with Rocky ... just in time for "Creed II."

Tallulah Willis Merry Xmas, Haters ... Who's Ugly Now?

Published | Updated

Tallulah Willis has a holiday message for anyone who used to call her ugly as a kid ... drink it all in for Xmas.

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's youngest daughter posted a bikini hot shot on Christmas Eve alongside her 2 sisters, Rumer and Scout -- who were also bikini-clad -- as they all took a dip in what looks like a river surrounded by snow.

Tallulah captioned the photo ... "dedicated to everyone who called me ugly at 13."

The youngest Willis kid has made it known she used to be bullied about her looks growing up. She told Katie Couric in 2014 ... "I had people when I was 13 telling me how ugly I was, and how could two beautiful actors create such hideous troll children?"

Looks like she's done a full 180 since completing rehab back then. Merry Christmas, indeed.

Washington Post Heir William Graham Commits Suicide Like Publisher Father

Published | Updated

William Graham -- one of the heirs to the Washington Post-Graham fortune and son to WP publishers Phil and Katharine Graham -- has died by suicide, like his father.

The Post published Will's obit Saturday, saying the 69-year-old lawyer died last Wednesday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to his older brother, Donald. His sister, Lally Weymouth, also posted about his death.

His father, Phil, also committed suicide in 1963 by shooting himself with a shotgun. Will's mother, Katharine, served as primary publisher of the Post for more than 2 decades thereafter.

She played a crucial role in the Post helping bring down President Nixon during the Watergate scandal. She also led the charge in continuing to publish the Pentagon Papers despite being challenged by the U.S. government in court.

Meryl Streep plays Katharine in Steven Spielberg's new movie "The Post." What's even more eerie here ... Will killed himself 6 days after the premiere in D.C., and 2 days before the film's limited release.

RIP
