Sylvester Stallone's birthday celebration rolled into Bev Hills Friday, and we got him to weigh in on who's the real NBA G.O.A.T. ... when it comes to securing a reso around town.

Sly was leaving Nazareth's Fine Cigars smoke lounge when we asked him who he thought restaurants would rather seat at their last available table -- Kobe Bryant or LeBron James? Tough one, right? One's the established L.A. legend, and the other's the new kid on the block ... but also an NBA legend.

Rocky didn't duck the question, and sorry, Kobe -- he went with LBJ! Although, he offered a diplomatic explanation for his pick.

Sly turned 72 earlier this month, but we kept the party going with a belated gift.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" series needs a new director ... Disney just fired James Gunn over a bunch of horrifically offensive tweets from years ago.

Gunn made comments about 911, AIDS, the Holocaust and rape. In one of the since-deleted tweets he said, "The best thing about being raped is when you're done being raped and it's like 'whew this feels great, not being raped!'"

In another he said, "I like when little boys touch me in my silly place." The Daily Caller first published the tweets.

Disney Chairman Alan Horn said Gunn's tweets "are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio's values, and we have severed our business relationship with him."

Gunn had already directed 2 'Guardians' films and was in the middle of prepping to start shooting the third in a few months.

Actress Margot Robbie's no longer skating on ice, she's down in Costa Rica taking in some surf ... and pretty good at it.

The "I, Tonya" star and her hubby, Tom Ackerley, caught a party wave during a late afternoon surfing session. She looked like a pro on her longboard ... then again, she's Australian so surfing is basically in her blood.

Afterwards they headed into shore for happy hour and the sunset where Margot blended in with the other beach folk, gave a solid "cheers" and did a hang ten onto her man's arm.

Christian Bale's ditched any vestige of Dick Cheney from his life, and by that we mean roughly 100 lbs ... in just a matter of months.

CB and his fam -- like most of the world, it seems -- are on vacay in Italy and, during a Friday morning stroll, he looked incredibly thin. Incredible because 7 months ago he was way more bulked up for his role as the ex-veep.

This is kinda his thing -- Christian typically yo-yos like nobody's business for his roles. He got up to about 228 pounds for "American Hustle" ... and everyone remembers how scarily thin he was for "The Machinist." He shed almost 70 lbs for that one!

Will Smith doesn't travel lightly when he does Italy -- he brings the whole fam along for the ride ... and makes sure their threads are up to par.

Will was out and about in Capri Tuesday with Jada Pinkett Smith, their two kids Jaden and Willow ... as well as his other kid from his first marriage, Trey. They were shopping at Autori Capresi -- a high-end fashion boutique well known to locals.

You can tell how serious everyone's taking their new duds -- not a whole lot of smiles here inside the store ... except for Will, of course, who was smiling from ear to ear.

Eli Roth says he's going through the easiest, friendliest divorce of all time ... and single life's not treating him bad either.

We got the famed director leaving Il Pastaio in Bev Hills Tuesday -- just hours after news broke of his divorce from actress Lorenza Izzo -- and he tells us ... it's all gravy.

Roth says all the right things, of course -- they really love each other, they're rooting for each other, their upcoming movie is going to be great ... so they just decided to happily split before anything negative happened.

As for any contentious topics like spousal support or splitting property ... Eli says it won't be an issue.

Before David Arquette squared off against RJ City in California ... he went to Tijuana, Mexico to train with luchadores -- and the high-flying moves he pulls off are insane!!!

Check out this footage TMZ Sports got of Arquette -- in the purple mask with matching tights -- going HAM on a bunch of local wrestlers during a match earlier this month.

The 46-year-old flies off the top rope and then busts out the HURRACARRANA ... a crazy acrobatic move where Arquette jumps and uses his legs to FLIP his opponent!

Arquette never revealed his true identity during the match -- which essentially served as a warm-up bout for RJ City -- but the crowd loved it!

Of course, Arquette went on to lose against City on Sunday ... but, judging by the video, we ain't seen the last of Dave in the squared circle.

Mark Wahlberg says he believes in Baker Mayfield -- so he placed a REAL bet on the Cleveland Browns to win 6 games in 2018.

Yeah, he's being serious.

Don't worry, he also made some less risky wagers -- betting on the Patriots and the Eagles to get back to the Super Bowl this season.

Wahlberg also bet on Ronda Rousey -- casting her in his new movie, "Mile 22" ... and he's super fired up about her role in the flick.

Mark raves about Ronda's performance and says she's more than just an action star -- she's a legit actress who nailed her dramatic scenes like a boss!!!

The movie -- which opens next month -- will be Ronda's most important Hollywood role yet. Of course, she starred in the "Entourage" movie ... but played herself.

Now, she's got a real shot to follow stars like The Rock ... and parlay action sports stardom into a real Hollywood career.

Tyrese admits airing his dirty laundry with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was NOT cool ... straight-up calling it unprofessional.

Tyrese took himself to task when he talked to Van Lathan on 'The Red Pill' podcast. You'll recall he accused his 'Fast & Furious' costar of being selfish when Johnson's 'F&F' spin-off movie shoot schedule pushed back the release date of 'Furious 9.'

He copped to going about it all wrong, but stopped shy of apologizing. In fact, Tyrese says he wasn't the only one pissed off at Dwayne. Still, he's laying the groundwork to squash the beef ... though, it hasn't happened yet.

7/17-- According to the docs, Eli lists the couple's date of separation as July 12 of this year. He's willing to pay Lorenza spousal support.

Eli Roth and his wife are calling it quits on their marriage ... the "Hostel" director just filed for divorce.

Roth submitted docs in L.A. Monday -- obtained by TMZ -- to end things with Lorenza Izzo. The two got hitched back in 2014 and never had any children together. Izzo is a Chilean model and horror film actress, best known for co-starring with Keanu Reeves in "Knock Knock."

She's also in the upcoming, "The House with a Clock in Its Walls" ... which Eli directed. Of course, he's also known for his horror flicks and co-starring in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds."

It's unclear exactly what led to Roth's filing.

Roth posted about the split Monday evening, saying, "It is with deep love and respect that we are choosing to separate as a couple. We've had an incredible journey together, we love each other very much, and will remain the best of friends."

Sly, along with Jennifer Flavin and his 3 daughters Sistine, Sophia and Scarlet, were the picture of beauty on yacht. Kinda goes without saying the women gorgeous. That's 21-year-old Sophia is in the copper-colored metallic bikini ... as they say in the law -- res ipsa loquitur. Look it up.

Kevin "Baby Slice" Ferguson says "Black Panther" star Winston Duke playing his legendary dad, Kimbo, is knockout casting ... telling TMZ Sports Duke has already proven he can play the role.

Duke played M'Baku in "Black Panther" and a lot people who saw the movie felt like he stole every scene he was in.

It was recently announced Winston would be playing Kimbo in a biopic ... and, when we talked to Baby Slice about it, he said he was 100% behind Duke's casting.

"I watched 'Black Panther' before they did anything, said anything about the movie, and I think he played the role, that character, he played it very well, you know."

"He was serious but funny, you know. He made people laugh and that was my pops all day. He was a serious person but at the same time, he could make you laugh and he was very cool. But that big, that figure, it's like perfect."

Kevin said he hasn't talked with Winson yet, but definitely plans to be a part of the production of the movie ... even though he didn't want to play his iconic pops.
