FIRST TIMERS
TMZ.com

Jane Fonda's seventh straight "Fire Drill Friday" climate change protest has led to more arrests ... and some new big names have been added to the list.

Diane Lane, Piper Perabo, and Amber Valletta joined Jane's force of environmental protesters in Washington D.C. Friday for a demonstration at the Supreme Court building ... and got hauled off in cuffs after refusing police orders to move.

IT'S THE FUZZ!!!
TMZ.com

Before they were taken away, Diane and Amber told us it was their first time being arrested ... number 2 for Piper. "The Good Place" actor Manny Jacinto was also on hand but didn't get arrested.

Neither did Fonda -- for the third straight week. As you can see ... she scurries away when she starts feeling the heat from police.

As we reported ... Jane's been arrested 4 times, but last Friday when the cops moved in she moved to higher ground and chanted with her comrades from a balcony in the Capitol.

We're told the folks behind FDF with Fonda are making sure she avoids her 5th arrest because it could result in serious consequences ... and they want her to be able to remain the weekly face of the movement.

The D.C. Attorney General's office declined to charge her for her previous 4 arrests ... but the 5th could be the one that lands her some significant jail time.

Lane, Perabo and Valletta can now wear an arrest badge of honor with Fonda, along with other Hollywood pals who've joined her ... like Sam Waterston, Ted Danson, Rosanna Arquette and Catherine Keener. Ben & Jerry protested too but didn't get arrested.

Jeff Bezos Loses Richest Person Crown to Bill Gates

Jeff Bezos must be licking his wounds today because he's now only the second richest person on planet Earth.

Yep ... the Microsoft stock climb has allowed Bill Gates to reclaim the top spot. At the close of business Friday, Bezos' net worth was $108.7 billion ... close but no cigar next to Gates, who came in at $110 bil.

Microsoft's been on a roll this year. The stock value has increased by 48%, and that was enough to get bragging rights ... at least today. Amazon's stock took a tumble Friday ... enough for Bezos to lose top position.

If Bezos were still married, there'd be no contest ... he'd leave Gates in the dust. But, dividing the spoils of marriage put Bezos in a neck-in-neck race with Gates.

Jane Fonda's still walking the walk -- marching with and sitting in with environmental protesters in D.C. -- but now when the cops move in, Jane heads for higher ground.

The iconic actress and activist was there to stage the sixth consecutive Fire Drill Fridays protest on Capitol Hill. As you know, Jane's been arrested 4 times, but she did not end up in handcuffs this time. Police moved in when the group sat and chanted in the rotunda of the Capitol, and warned demonstrators they were about to be rounded up.

At that point, Jane was high above on a balcony ... still chanting along with her comrades in protest -- but steering clear of arrest. It's the second week she hasn't been arrested -- and as we reported last week ... that's exactly what the protest planners want.

FREE WOMAN
TMZ.com

The folks behind Fire Drill Fridays say Jane's best value to the group is remaining the weekly face of their activities on the Hill -- and they begged her to avoid a 5th arrest.

As we told you, due to a previous bust ... Jane already has an open court date, and if she's thrown in jail a fifth time she risks remaining behind bars for 30 to 90 days.

The last time cops took Jane into custody, on November 1, she had to spend a night in jail -- but for now, she's staying high.

Kinda like the 60s all over again.

Dog Boutique Store Under Investigation Amid Dog Abuse Video

THE INCIDENT
Rip Royce/Twitch
UPDATE

9:02 AM PT -- Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Bark n' Bitches is under investigation. We're told the City of L.A. Department of Animal Services is conducting the investigation. What's more ... sources say the LAPD's Animal Cruelty Taskforce is aware of the incident.

UPDATE

And, get this ... a separate complaint prior to the horrific dog-throwing incident triggered the Department's probe. It's unclear what sparked the initial investigation, but we're told the Animal Cruelty Taskforce fielded the complaint.

UPDATE

We've reached out to the Dept. of Animal Services ... so far, no word back.

A poor pup was violently launched across a room by her neck by an irate employee and landed on her head on a concrete floor ... and the disgusting incident was caught on video.

The vid shows several dogs running around and barking in the Bark n' Bitches Dog Boutique in L.A. when it appears one dog begins to play a little too aggressively with a smaller dog.

That's when the worker steps in and viciously grabs the larger dog by the neck, picks her up high and tosses her several feet ... to the shock and horror of others in the store.

After the throw, a sickening thud is heard as the dog hits the ground. The sound is the dog's head hitting the floor ... according to the person who first posted the video on Twitch.

Some of the people in the store go to check on the poor pooch afterward, as it hid under a nearby table.

Bark n' Bitches has responded to the horrific incident, saying ... "We will not tolerate this or any actions that put our rescues in harm's way. The appropriate actions are being taken. This is NOT what we stand for."

It added ... "The dog was playing and acting normal after this incident. She was taken to the vet and was cleared 100 percent."

The owner of the shop followed up by confirming the employee in the video has been fired and the dog is doing fine. The owner added the boutique has been in business for 14 years and "this is a first."

Hopefully, it's also a last.

Justin Bieber New Tour Coming ... You Better R&Beliebe It!!!

Justin Bieber's gearing up for a new tour, and he's already making sure his dance moves will be in top form.

Sources close to JB tell TMZ ... he's rehearsing for a new tour and could hit the road as early as summer 2020. We're told the tour will coincide with a new album, which as we told you ... has already been teased as a transition into R&B.

Justin was seen Wednesday heading into 3rd Street Dance in L.A. apparently to start laying the groundwork for his moves for the upcoming tour ... and possibly to work on his hockey skills. Maybe he just has a game afterward, though.

We broke the story ... Bieber's team also just filed legal docs to try to land the trademark for "R&Bieber," the working title of his potential new album.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

Justin promised fans he'll release it by Christmas if the October 27 Instagram post gets 20 million likes, but it's currently just at 11.8 million ... so still a ways to go.

Regardless, we're told a new album is coming sometime soon -- which would be his first in 4 years -- and a new tour would be his first since he cut his Purpose Tour short in July 2017 ... after performing 150 shows across 6 continents.

Seems like he's ready to get back to it.

Rod Stewart I'm Laying Down Tracks ... Check Out My Epic Model Railroad!!!

Sir Rod Stewart is a rock star with a super interesting hobby ... building model railways.

Rod says he's spent the past 23 years creating an imaginary U.S. city in the attic of his Los Angeles mansion, complete with intricate details and over 100 feet of railroad tracks. Who knew that's what he was up to when he wasn't making music or performing live?!?

The British rocker finally revealed his secret passion in an interview with Railway Modeller magazine, telling the outlet he even took his hobby on tour, working on skyscrapers and other scenery in extra hotel rooms specifically reserved for his construction project.

Rod says he prefers creating structures and scenery as opposed to laying down railroad ... and his whimsical town features warehouses, high-rises, mills and different landscapes.

The railway infrastructure is pretty detailed too ... there's rail stations, tunnels, bridges and, of course, tracks. There's even cars and ships.

Rod's city is so intricate, he says he made sure every pavement stone in town is a slightly different color. He used black chalk to create cracks and even put fake garbage in the gutters and incorporated rust.

As for the roots of his hobby ... Rod recalls seeing a model railway in a window display when he was growing up in England, and he wondered how he could get paid to build one.

Check out the gallery ... Rod's model is pretty amazing.

American Airlines Plane Slides Off Runway at O'Hare ... Icy Conditions to Blame

'Tis the season ... for winter weather to start wreaking havoc on airports across America, and a flight landing in Chicago is the first to majorly feel its effects.

American Eagle flight 4125 was arriving from Greensboro, NC Monday morning when it slid off the runway after landing at Chicago's O'Hare Airport. As you can see in the video, snow was falling during the scary incident.

According to American Airlines ... icy conditions are to blame, but fortunately, there were no injuries. The airline adds, "All 38 passengers and three crew members were removed from the aircraft and are now safely back in the terminal."

So far Monday, more than 400 flights have been canceled at O'Hare and nearly 100 more at the nearby Midway Airport. Up to 6 inches of snow is expected to fall in the Chicago area and a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.

Instagram We're Getting Rid Of 'Likes' ... For A Limited Time

Instagram is getting rid of its "like" feature ... but don't worry, this is just a trial run and it's only going to affect some users in the United States.

IG CEO Adam Mosseri made the announcement that's sure to cause anxiety for some folks Friday at WIRED25 ... explaining the platform will experiment with hiding likes for US-based accounts starting next week.

The social media giant has already tested the same thing in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Japan and New Zealand ... and it's finally coming to America.

Mosseri says Instagram will slowly roll out the changes, removing publicly visible engagement metrics for a limited number of IG accounts. The person who posts a picture or video will still be able to see how many likes it gets.

So, what's the reasoning behind the change? Instagram says removing public likes could possibly make the user experience better, with less pressure to rack up likes.

Original 'Marlboro Man' Dead at 90 ... Never Lit Up Once!!!

The first real-life cowboy who held a Marlboro cigarette in his hand, and played the role of the "Marlboro Man" -- even though he wasn't a smoker -- has died.

Robert Norris, who played the advertising icon for a dozen years, reportedly died last Sunday at his ranch in Colorado Springs.

As the story goes, ad execs noticed Norris in a newspaper photo with his longtime friend -- an actor by the name of John Wayne -- and tracked him down at his 63,000-acre ranch in Colorado.

They thought he was perfect for the rugged, genuine cowboy character, and according to a friend ... he did it as a favor. This was in the '60s, and Bob appeared in magazines, commercials and billboards for the cigarette company for the next 12 years.

Strangely enough, Norris never smoked in his life, and he eventually quit the campaign because he thought he was setting a bad example for children.

Robert was a popular figure in his hometown, known for being a philanthropist and businessman along with a rancher. He was also actively involved in helping several rodeo organizations.

He's survived by his 2 sons and 2 daughters. His wife passed in 2016 at age 88.

Norris was 90 ... so saying no to cigs seemed to serve him well.

Jane Fonda I Can't Get Arrested in This Town!!! Avoids 5th Bust in D.C.

FREE WOMAN
TMZ.com

Jane Fonda's "Fire Drill Fridays" arrest streak is over -- she avoided handcuffs this week, but only at the behest of the climate change movement for which she's become the face ... TMZ has learned.

The actress showed up Friday in Washington, D.C. and -- like she has week after week -- she urged Congress to act on climate change. Then she started marching with other protesters, and this is usually when police step in and issue 3 warnings ... before taking Jane and others into custody.

But, it never happened. Jane simply got into a waiting SUV and bounced.

Why? Sources with direct knowledge tell us ... protest organizers urged Jane not to get arrested for what would have been her 5th time in as many weeks because she risked more than a month in jail. Jane currently has an open court date later this month, stemming from her third arrest, and because of that she could have faced 30 to 90 days behind bars.

We're told the "Fire Drill Fridays" folks made it clear to Jane she was more valuable to the them leading the weekly protest -- drawing a spotlight to the cause -- than she would be rotting in a jail cell.

LET'S DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT
TMZ.com

Ben & Jerry's cofounders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield also joined Jane. So far, they have avoided getting hauled away. We're told the police appear to be giving everyone a pass this week because the dozens of weekly arrests just become a nuisance for law enforcement.

To that point, Ben and Jerry definitely charmed at least one Secret Service agent on the scene with their weapon of choice ... a cup of their world famous ice cream. Brilliant move.

As we've reported here, here, here and here ... the protests were inspired by Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg. Jane's 4th arrest last week meant she had to spend a night in jail.

Celebrities alike have joined Jane at the nation's capital and see the arrest as a badge of honor. Jerry told us earlier this week on "TMZ Live" it didn't take much pressure from Jane to join her on the frontlines.

As you probably know by now ... Ben & Jerry's have been calling for climate change action for YEARS now. They even launched a Save Our Swirled flavor to shine a spotlight on saving the planet.

Some of the other celebs who have joined Jane on her mission include Ted Danson, Sam Waterston and Catherine Keener.

TMZ's Anniversary 14 Years Of Big News

Well, here it is. 14 years ago today, we pushed a button and TMZ.com went live and has been on a wild ride ever since.

We have broken thousands of stories over the years, many of which we can proudly say have changed the political and social climate. Our Ray Rice story had profound implications on the way the NFL and others deal with domestic violence. Our Donald Sterling story changed basketball for the better.

Some of the stories we've posted have been jaw-dropping. Those of us who worked at TMZ back in June 2009 were thunderstruck when we realized Michael Jackson was dead, and our investigation into doctors who enabled the singer was super disturbing.

Check out just a few of the stories we've broken that have made national and in many cases world news.

MAY 2014
THE FIGHT VIDEO

Sometimes you just know. When we got the Beyonce/Jay-Z elevator video back in May 2014, we knew it would generate crazy interest. What caused Solange to attack Jay, and how do you deconstruct Bey's reaction? Bey and Jay eventually righted the ship, and now all's well.

THE BRUTAL ATTACK

Baltimore Ravens star Ray Rice got in trouble for attacking his girlfriend, but the public had no idea how serious it was until we got video of Ray viciously knocking out his fiancee in an elevator. The story hit like an atomic bomb. Prosecutors gave Rice a slap on the wrist, and the NFL gave him a measly 2-game suspension, which it later increased after a torrent of public criticism. The story triggered big changes in the way the NFL and other sports deal with domestic violence.

Michael Jackson long had trouble with drugs but kept a lot of it hidden from public view. On June 25, 2009, we got a tip he went into cardiac arrest and made about a hundred calls and eventually determined he was dead. After we broke the death story, the L.A. Times posted a story that Jackson was in a coma. The rest of the media had to then choose ... who to believe.

'Boardwalk Empire' House Back on the Market ... After Huge Price Drop

A Brooklyn home featured on the HBO series "Boardwalk Empire" is up for grabs ... and any Nucky, Chalky, Mickey or Lucky buyer out there can scoop it up for more than a million dollars less than it was last year.

The Park Slope house -- which was also featured in the 1993 Martin Scorcese film, "The Age of Innocence" -- was fittingly built in 1900 and is a 5-story, 8,014-square-foot family dwelling with 5 beds and 5.5 baths.

It ain't cheap -- currently listed at $7.51 million -- but in 2018 it was priced at $8.8 mil ... seems like a deal Al Capone would be excited about.

And, get this ... it even comes with the same wallpaper the set designer used on the show.

Other features of the limestone townhouse include a 2-story kitchen, a library, a gas-burning fireplace, Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass and a private roof terrace.

Get it while it's hot.

Insane Video Hero Saves Man from Speeding Train ... After Raiders Game

tHE HEROIC RESCUE
@SFBART

"I thought the train was going to cut him in half, honestly."

That's how a city employee described the scene after he saved a man from an oncoming train after the Oakland Raiders game Sunday -- and footage of the whole ordeal is WILD.

Shortly after the Raiders beat the Lions ... a nearby Oakland BART stop was so packed with Raider fans that a man got too close to the tracks and fell.

You can see in the video how dire the situation was ... 'cause a train was barreling down on the man just seconds away from his body!!!

But, BART employee John O'Conner quickly sprang into action ... grabbing the man and pulling him off the tracks with barely a second to spare.

Afterward, O'Conner admitted to CBS SF he thought the guy was going to die.

"Everybody was telling him, ‘Get out of the trackway, a train’s coming," O'Conner said. “I thought the train was going to cut him in half, honestly ... I didn’t want to see this guy die."

Fortunately for everybody involved ... both men were okay, and cameras caught the two sharing a big embrace afterward.

As for O'Conner, BART officials say he's a Transportation Supervisor who's been working for the company for two decades ... and called the whole situation "an amazing rescue."

No kidding!

Eddie Murphy Shoots Like a Prince ... For 'Coming to America 2'

Eddie Murphy is deep into filming "Coming to America 2" and it's gettin' everyone plenty excited.

Eddie was on set in ATL in full Prince Akeem garb. He's proudly wearing a New York Mets bomber jacket, with proclamations of his love of the Big Apple. You see Eddie hold a wad of cash ... presumably from scalping tickets.

Above you can see Arsenio Hall, who plays Semmi, and Paul Bates, who plays Oha, is also on-hand.

The movie is maybe the biggest remake in the works this year. People have been clamoring for the flick for years. It's scheduled to open wide in theaters in December 2020. Lots of people says it's gonna be worth the wait.

By the way ... the original "Coming to America" came out in 1988 -- 31 years ago. It'll be 32 years by the time it comes out.

Conan The Dog No Military Prestige For Pup ... After taking down ISIS leader

The heroic dog that helped take down ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Syria will not be awarded the Medal of Honor.

Conan the Dog rose to fame when President Trump tweeted a picture of the K9 used in the special ops mission. He even retweeted a doctored photo of Conan being decorated with the Medal of Honor. And, the dog is going to The White House next week, so it seemed a medal was in the offing.

A Dept. of Defense spokesperson tells TMZ, animals are not eligible to receive hardware like the Medal of Honor. So, the only perk the pooch might get is something from McDonalds.

Trump said Conan was injured during the raid, but it doesn't seem like it was that bad, because she was back on active duty a day or so later.

Even though Conan won't have a shiny new medal, she can take solace in the fact she's quickly becoming one of the most popular dogs in America. Conan's breed, the Belgian Malinois, has been in high-demand since the raid.
