Bryan Kohberger Tells Family 'I Love You' At Extradition Hearing ... Before Hauled Back To Jail!!

Published | Updated

Bryan Kohberger had an emotional moment at his extradition hearing Tuesday in Pennsylvania ... telling his family he loved them right before he was hauled back to jail.

The suspected killer of four college students had just agreed to waive extradition in Monroe County, PA, and be sent back to Idaho to face murder and burglary charges stemming from the brutal November knife attack.

As police escorted him in handcuffs out of the courtroom, Kohberger reportedly turned to his family seated in the gallery and mouthed the words, "I love you." Throughout the proceeding, his parents and two sisters appeared upset, crying at times. There was also a moment where Kohberger locked eyes with his father, nodding at him in acknowledgment.

CNN said Kohberger looked back at his dad again and peered over at his family another time, cracking a faint smile. After the judge informed Kohberger of the homicide charges, his mom broke down and wept in her daughter's shoulder, prompting a court officer to bring over a Kleenex.

Following the hearing, Pennsylvania State Police Major Christopher Paris told reporters ... Kohberger will be shipped back to Latah County, ID, within 10 days after officials iron out the logistics for transporting the accused murderer. Paris could not pinpoint an exact date for the extradition ... but, in the meantime, Kohberger will be cooling his heels inside the Monroe County Correctional Facility.

As we reported, Kohberger was arrested last Friday at his parent's home in Effort, PA, and charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary. He's accused of breaking into an off-campus house in Moscow, ID, and fatally stabbing Kaylee Goncalves, Maddie Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin. All four victims attended the University of Idaho. Police have not established a motive in the case.

Kohberger plans to fight the charges. His lawyer told TMZ ... Bryan expects to be cleared of any wrongdoing in the November 13 massacre and looks forward to promptly resolving the matter.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Being Considered as Next Bond ... Names Are A-Flying!!!

Published

It seems producers of the James Bond franchise aren't ready to make up their minds on exactly who they have their sights set on -- now Aaron Taylor-Johnson's in the mix.

The British actor -- famous for his role in "Kick-Ass" and, more recently, "Bullet Train" -- is reported to have had a meeting with Barbara Broccoli in September ... and not just that, he even did a screen test that went well, according to Daily Mail and Puck News.

The screen test is said to have been part of a full-blown audition Aaron apparently did for Barbara and co. -- and it sounds like everyone was impressed with what they saw. Word is ... they had ATJ do the iconic gun barrel opening sequence, which is a huge deal obviously.

The reports say Aaron is now a front-runner, but that nothing is official yet. This is a major development from the news that came out this past weekend -- when "Emily in Paris" star Lucien Laviscount was said to have been in the running as well and also considered a favorite.

There've been a lot of names thrown around over the past several months, but Aaron's the first one who's gotten on camera to try his hand at Bond ... as far as we've heard at least.

We'll say this about Aaron ... he's got the Bond vibe. But, so does every other strapping gent that's been floated!

Miley Cyrus Droppin' New Song on Ex, Liam's Bday ... 'I Can Love Me Better'

Miley Cyrus is seemingly throwing some shade at her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, because she's debuting a new track -- about loving herself better -- on his birthday.

The singer confirmed her new single release on social media, saying she's dropping "Flowers" on January 13. She didn't mention that happens to be Liam's 33rd bday, but, obviously, that's no secret.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

She included a short snippet of the song ... you hear her singing the line, "I can love me better," and also shared posters put up worldwide with sayings like, "I can hold my own hand" and "I can buy myself flowers."

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

While some were excited to get new music from Miley, others in the comments pointed out the obvious ... with one commenting, "Not on Liam’s birthday 🤣🤣🤣💀 as she should."

As you know, Miley and Liam first met back in 2009 while shooting "The Last Song," where they played love interests.

They went on to date for years ... first getting in engaged in 2012 before calling it off the following year -- around the same time Miley dropped "Wrecking Ball," a song which many once again took as shade toward Liam.

The 2 finally got hitched in 2018 before Liam filed for divorce the next year ... Miley even told Howard Stern "there was too much conflict" in their on-and-off relationship.

As she put it ... new year, new Miley.

UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO MURDERS Campus Security Remains Tight ... Despite Murder Case Arrest

Published | Updated

The suspect in the Idaho murder case is in custody, but the university is not yet ready to pull back its increased security protocols that went into effect after the 4 students were killed.

Bryan Kohberger has been arrested and charged with November's quadruple murder, but it's still early in the case  ... so the school is keeping patrols up on campus as an extra security measure.

Campus security at the University of Idaho tells TMZ ... there are NO plans to scale back patrols to where they were before the murders, and personnel increases will remain in place.

We're told the feeling on the Moscow, ID campus is a sense of relief now that the suspect is in custody, with some students starting to feel safe again.

The beefed-up security around the university was part of a promise the school made to students after the murders, so kids would feel safe returning to campus.

Among the changes ... hiring a new campus police outfit and increasing the amount of guards on campus so more ground could be covered and covered more frequently.

We're also told campus security is still getting tons of tips about Kohberger, and they're sending them over to Moscow PD and the FBI.

As for Kohberger ... he's being extradited back to Idaho after his arrest in Pennsylvania, and his public defender claims he believes he'll be fully exonerated.

Damar Hamlin Fake Fundraisers Created Online ... GoFundMe Deleting Them

Published

People are looking to profit off Damar Hamlin's tragic injury by creating fraudulent GoFundMe campaigns, advertised as helping the athlete who's currently fighting for his life ... but we're told the online company's already cracking down on anyone pretending to help the Bills player.

A spokesperson for GoFundMe tells TMZ ... there's only 1 verified fundraiser on the platform confirmed by Damar's family -- The Chasing M's Foundation Community Toy Drive, which has surpassed $4.7M since Damar's incident, as we reported.

We're told anything not authorized by the family is already being taken down in real-time.

For those unaware, several campaigns went live since Damar's cardiac arrest Monday night ... some saying the funds will benefit him directly while in the hospital, and others are exact replicas of his toy drive fundraiser.

It looks like the unauthorized campaigns didn't pick up a ton of steam ... one campaign was even created with the sole purpose of warning others about Damar-related scams.

It's worth noting that not all of these fundraisers appear to be malicious -- it seems some just want to help but didn't go through the proper channels to get it done properly.

A GFM spokesperson tells us the company's top priority is keeping people safe and to "protect the generosity of our donors" ... adding that it isn't uncommon for others to jump on the platform and try to help out. That being said, GoFundMe will continue to monitor the situation closely.

As we reported, Damar was transported to a nearby hospital after suffering from cardiac arrest on the field ... he remains in critical condition in the ICU.

'Christmas Story' House Actor & Homeowner Squash Beef! 🤝 After Public Confrontation

Published

It's a 'Christmas Story' miracle -- the red-hot tension between the flick's actor Yano Anaya and the owner of the on-screen home is cooling down ... after their explosive confrontation.

Yano, who played Grover Dill in the 1983 film, tells TMZ ... he sent homeowner Brian Jones a few emails on the heels of their November blow-up, but initially got no response.

GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

We broke the story ... Brian got face-to-face with Yano, accusing the actor of being a scammer, loser, and "piece of s**t" -- referring to a GoFundMe started by a member of Yano's 'A Christmas Story' group, which was launched to raise funds for the house.

Yano's efforts to smooth things over and find out why Brian was so upset failed until a week ago when Brian reached back out, agreeing to meet up for breakfast on NYE in Atlanta.

We're told Brian explained his reason for the outburst -- bringing up a ton of negative past business experiences with people trying to take advantage of him and use the house ... and Brian apologized for assuming Yano fell into that category.

The 2 were all smiles, posing for a photo together once all was said and done... posting it in a Facebook group for fans of the film. In the caption, Yano says they've been pals for 20 years -- adding, "when friendships can withstand the tests of life, you cherish those relationships."

Yano says Brian feels he and his group would be great potential buyers to keep the tradition alive. FYI, Yano claims his group has the money to score the pad, and will show proof of funds this week to begin the process of possibly purchasing.

Brian backed that up, telling TMZ things are indeed well now, and Yano's "working with our investment bank REAG to qualify as a buyer alongside other interested parties."

ICYMI, the iconic home from the movie recently hit the market and Yano told us he and other 'Christmas Story' cast members were interested in buying.

All is well once again in the Parker home.

UPDATE

11:37 AM PT -- Vic Mensa checked in on "TMZ Live" to reiterate the importance of the Black Star Line Fest and the water initiative... and says his primary goal is to erase years of colonialism that have plagued the African nations!!!

Vic Mensa is making the most of his co-headlining festival in Ghana this week -- he's also leading the charge on a project to bring clean water to 3 villages there!!!

Vic tells TMZ Hip Hop he was moved after seeing the desolate living conditions, including contaminated water, firsthand … and partnered with his father, a Ghana native, to launch their initiative.

The Chicago-born rapper says, "We're building 3 boreholes in different communities in Ghana to provide clean drinking water; the first being the Asokore Zongo in Koforidua where my family lives, which is already built."

Vic adds, "The other locations are a nearby community called Effiduase and then our ancestral village in the Volta Region, Amedzofe. Most people in communities like this in Ghana experience constant waterborne diseases."

We’re told Koforidua is home to around 200k people, Effiduase is estimated at 20k people and Amedzofe has a population of around 6k -- so, the project will make a significant contribution to the health and welfare of the region.

Barring any hiccups, drilling for the boreholes is said to take 3-4 weeks and includes 10-15 days of on-site drilling, followed by pipework and cable installations.

All the operations appear to be first class … water will actually be tested in a lab prior to human consumption, and we’re told the boreholes cost $45k to complete.

Vic will have his hands full pulling double duty, too. He’s slated to perform with Chance The Rapper, Erykah Badu and more on Saturday for the Black Star Line Festival ... which sounds like fun.

Shawne Merriman Damar Hamlin's Injury ... Is A Wake Up Call To Players, Football's Dangerous

Published | Updated

Shawne Merriman was one of the most violent defensive players of his generation, but was admittedly shaken up after watching Damar Hamlin's heart stop on the field ... an incident he thinks will have a major impact on players across the league.

The former 12th overall in the 2005 NFL Draft joined Babcock and Mojo on the "TMZ Sports" TV show (airs weekdays on FS1) ... where we asked Merriman how the traumatizing incident will affect the Bills players as they attempt to make a run in the playoffs.

"It's going to be playing in the minds of a lot of them. It was a wake-up call for a lot of people on just the possibilities of how violent this game could be," Shawne said.

"I think football is the greatest sport in the world but we also understand that there's some heavy risk in that."

Shawne also said the incident could show fans that players are humans ... not superheroes or machines.

"I think also it brought a human side. A lot of these players really get looked at as superhuman. This is a human on the ground that could possibly be fighting for his life."

Shawne doesn't believe the incident will have any long-lasting impacts on the league, but it's not something players will forget, and it has Merriman feeling grateful that he left the game in one piece.

"It was the first thing on my mind when I woke up this morning and how fortunate I was to actually walk away from the game the way I did on the up and up."

KOHBERGER PULLED OVER

Bryan Kohberger was stopped by Indiana cops back in mid-December in that white Hyundai Elantra, but they let him go -- and we have video of the encounter.

It happened December 15th ... a trooper with the Indiana State Police pulled the car over for following too closely. There were two men in the car -- Kohberger was driving, and the passenger presumably was his father, who accompanied him from Washington State to Pennsylvania.

Police officials say at the time of the stop they knew nothing related to the license plate or state in which the car was registered. However, more than a week before, cops asked the public's help in finding a white Hyundai Elantra -- the car in which Kohberger was driving.

Police let them go with a verbal warning. BTW, during the stop, the cop asks where they're going, and they reply, Pennsylvania ... to which the cop says, "That's a long haul. Are you guys scared of airplanes?" The cop then laughs.

During the encounter, Kohberger's dad mentions a shooting near Washington State University, adding that's where his son went to school. A man had barricaded himself in an apartment near the University and threatened to kill his 2 roommates ... he died in a police shootout.

The Indiana State Police say just minutes before that traffic stop, the 2 men were stopped by a Deputy from the Hancock County Sheriff's Dept. ... and again they were released with a verbal warning.

Kohberger was arrested 2 weeks later -- December 30th -- at his parent's home in Pennsylvania.

At a press conference Tuesday, cops revealed Renner was helping a family member get their vehicle out of the snow with his Snowcat plowing machine. The actor got out to talk to the family member, and the machine started to roll ... Renner attempted to get back inside the Snowcat and got run over.

Investigators don't believe Renner was impaired at all during the incident, and it was purely an accident. They are, however, checking into any sort of mechanical failure that may have happened.

Shannon Sharpe Skipped FS1 Show Over Bayless Tweet Unclear When He'll Return

Published | Updated

Skip Bayless hosted Tuesday morning's episode of 'Undisputed' alone, without Shannon Sharpe, and it was no accident ... we're told the Hall of Famer was upset with the opinionated TV host's controversial tweet sent minutes after Damar Hamlin's heart stopped during MNF.

And, TMZ Sports is told the network -- which wants Sharpe back as soon as possible -- doesn't know if he will return to work on Wednesday.

The controversy started when Bayless tweeted ... "No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game - but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome ... which suddenly seems so irrelevant."

The backlash came fast and furiously ... with everyone from fans to current and former star athletes like Darrelle Revis, Dez Bryant, "Sauce" Gardner and others going in on Skip.

In the wake of criticism, and less than an hour after his original message, Bayless attempted to clarify his point, writing ... "Nothing is more important than that young man's health. That was the point of my last tweet. I'm sorry if that was misunderstood but his health is all that matters. Again, everything else is irrelevant. I prayed for him & will continue to."

But, clearly, it wasn't enough for his partner, Shannon ... 'cause when 'Undisputed' went live Tuesday morning, Sharpe was nowhere to be found.

Some speculated Shannon could've simply had the day off, but our sources tell us that's not the case -- this was a direct reaction to Bayless' tweet.

A few minutes into the show, Skip seemingly tried to clear the air without directly addressing the reason behind Shannon's absence, saying, "Obviously, my partner, Shannon Sharpe, is not here today. I look forward to seeing him tomorrow."

Bayless also started the show telling the audience he was going to (attempt to) approach the show as he would any other weekday ... though he wasn't sure if he'd be able to get through the emotional topic.

"I apologize for what we've set out to do if it offends anyone because we're going to try to do the show pretty much as we usually do the show but I'll admit upfront, I'm still shook up by what happened last night to Damar Hamlin."

Skip continued ... "In fact, I'm still wrecked. In fact, I'm not sure I'm capable of doing this show today but after barely sleeping on it, I decided to give it a try. Maybe I'll fail, maybe we will fail but we're going to try."

Hamlin, most importantly, is still in the Intensive Care Unit of a Cincinnati hospital, fighting for his life.

Kohberger, a graduate student in criminology at nearby Washington State University, drove cross country with his father back to Pennsylvania around Christmas.

Investigators were already hot on Kohberger's trail after tying him to the crimes, in part, using DNA evidence. Cops have not disclosed a motive for the attack, nor have they located the murder weapon, which is believed to be a combat knife.

Kohberger's attorney, Jason LaBar, told TMZ ... his client expects to be "exonerated," suggesting he's innocent of the crimes. LaBar also said Kohberger has not specifically addressed the serious charges against him, meaning he hasn't denied involvement in the slayings or admitted guilt.

His hearing is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM EST ... we'll stream it live.

The video, obtained by TMZ, starts right after the two-time Oscar nominee was loaded onto the chopper Sunday around 9:50 AM. Eyewitnesses tell us Jeremy was plowing the road about a quarter mile from his Tahoe home so his family could get out after a massive New Year's eve storm.

According to a neighbor, the plowing machine -- called a Snowcat -- accidentally ran over one of Jeremy's legs, and he was losing a lot of blood from the injury. We're told another neighbor, who's a doctor, was able to put a tourniquet on his leg until paramedics arrived.

We're told the area was treated like an active crime scene ... with police arriving at 8 PM to impound the Snowcat, which Jeremy's previously posted video of himself using on his property after snowstorms.
