Uvalde Massacre Government Spending $15k on Counseling for Border Patrol Agents

Published | Updated

The Uvalde massacre has traumatized the entire community ... and now we've learned the U.S. government is stepping in to offer mental health services -- to some members of law enforcement.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection earmarked a little over $15,000 for a mental health specialist to counsel Border Patrol agents who were present during the shooting.

The agency hired trauma expert Carrie A. Elk -- who runs a practice out of Florida. She'll be providing "psychological health training in response to the Uvalde TX School Shooting for Government personnel"... this according to federal procurement docs obtained by TMZ.

The exact amount USCBP dropped to bring Dr. Elk in ... $15,450. This will cover 6 days of therapy.

We spoke to Dr. Elk ... who wouldn't comment on specifics, but did tell us that she's often contracted by Border Patrol and the military to provide counseling after events like Uvalde.

It's unclear if Elk is doing one-on-one sessions with folks at Border Patrol -- whose agents ended up being the ones to take out the shooter in the slow-moving raid -- but she does say she'll often teach techniques to agents about how to identify emotional triggers, how to process painful memories and how to cope with trauma they experience on the job.

As you know, the response by law enforcement -- including Border Patrol agents -- has created national outrage over the 77-minute delay before the shooter was killed. In the process, he slaughtered 19 children and 2 teachers, and wounded a number of other students.

'90 Day Fiance' Barber Featured on Show ... On Most Wanted List for Murder

Published

A barber featured on "90 Day Fiancé" is on the run from an alleged murder case … and he’s now one of the country’s most wanted men.

Michael Anthony Baltimore landed on the U.S. Marshals Service’s 15 Most Wanted list last month for what authorities say was a killing he commissioned in Carlisle, PA — where he allegedly shot and killed his barbershop boss, Kendell Cook, and injured another man in the process.

The agency says Baltimore is wanted for assault, homicide and parole violation charges — noting he has an extensive criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous.

There are 3 different rewards being offered by just as many agencies … $25k, $10k and $2,000, respectively.

As for what exactly might’ve led up to the alleged shooting, local reports suggest Baltimore had been beefing with Cook for years … which is interesting, because they were depicted as chummy on the show.

Each of them was featured in a handful of episodes during 2019’s "90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?" fourth season -- as side characters -- where their friendly banter was filmed in the shop.

The couples on for that season were Jay and Ashley, Nicole and Azan, Chantel and Pedro, Colt and Larissa and others. Talk about a plot twist.

Drake Okay, Fine ... I Did Have a Run-In w/ Swedish Cops

Published

Drake's kinda doing an about-face after his team denied he was busted in Sweden -- confirming he did have some sort of run-in with cops ... but the details are still hazy.

The rapper posted a series of photos Sunday, apparently documenting his recent adventures -- one of which was a shot of a print-out he'd been given by Swedish authorities ... addressing the mass speculation from the past few days that he'd landed in trouble.

The document was issued by Swedish authorities, aka Polisen, and it's titled ... "Information for Those Suspected of a Crime and Subsequently Detained." Well, at least it's thorough.

It goes on to explain Drake's rights under Swedish law -- which are pretty similar to Miranda rights someone received when they're taken in by cops here in the States. As you can see, Drake has the right to know what he's being detained for, and the right to legal counsel.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

He actually has a few more rights, it seems, than the average American ... or even Swedish citizen. The doc notes he can contact his country's consulate and have messages sent and received on his behalf. However, it doesn't appear things got that serious in this matter.

The rumor was that Drake was arrested on marijuana related charges while partying at a Swedish club this week ... and it sounds like he's since been released in connection to that -- hence him posting this update. Unclear if he'll have to go back and deal with this in court.

The strange thing ... Drake's team denied there was any truth to this story, amid speculation and the hashtag #FreeDrake going viral. Maybe they were splitting hairs over semantics -- like whether he was arrested or detained -- but it's obvious something did in fact go down.

In any case, he seems to have had an easier go than A$AP Rocky did. Thank goodness for that.

Bobby East Nascar Driver Stabbed to Death Suspect Shot by Cops

Published | Updated
UPDATE

11:05 AM PT -- Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... a SWAT team executed a search warrant at an Anaheim-area apartment Friday -- two days after East was stabbed -- where officers were informed Millsap may be holed up. During the raid, an officer-involved shooting occurred ... we're told Millsap was shot and killed on the scene as the police were trying to arrest him. The Orange County DA is investigating the shooting.

NASCAR driver Bobby East was fatally stabbed this week by a drifter during a bloody altercation at a California gas station, police and media reports say.

Tattoo-faced Trent William Millsap is being sought by police in connection with East's murder, which occurred at a 76 gas station around 6 PM Wednesday, according to Deadline.

East reportedly got into a war of words with Millsap while the racecar driver was pumping gas. It wasn't clear what sparked the argument, but Millsap allegedly plunged a sharp object into the chest of East.

Cops were called to the scene and reportedly performed life-saving measures on East until paramedics arrived. East was then rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Millsap, who had an outstanding parole warrant, is a drifter who frequents motels in the usually safe and crime-free Westminister area. He is considered armed and dangerous.

East was a three-time U.S. Auto Club champion who snagged the USAC Silver Crown Championships in 2012 and 2013.

Bobby was 37.

Ricky Martin Bro Defends Him Against Allegations ... Claims Nephew's Troubled

Published | Updated

Ricky Martin's brother is backing his sibling's claim that their nephew -- who's accusing Ricky of domestic violence and incest -- is a deeply troubled guy.

Eric Martin took to social media this week to air out his grievances about the case playing out in Puerto Rico ... starting out by saying that just because someone takes out a protective order under this statute -- which is admittedly serious -- does not necessarily mean the alleged victim is telling the truth ... and that the facts still must be vetted thoroughly.

Eric says he's on the side of justice and truth, but by his rant here -- you can tell he's defending Ricky, and casting doubt on their nephew -- whom he's ID'd as 21-year-old Dennis Yadiel Sanchez. He also says IF the allegations against Ricky are true -- which he's incredulous over -- the response from society should not be retribution ... but rehabilitation.

That seems to be more of a general thought, though, about instances of incest ... because, again, Eric clearly doesn't believe Ricky did this.

He makes one last point in another video … namely, that he too believes their nephew suffers from mental health problems -- which he addresses directly to Dennis, whom he says he loves. Eric also says Dennis is estranged from the family, and that he knows what kind of hurt he's inflicted on other family members before all this ... but Eric doesn't elaborate.

As we reported, Ricky has called BS over all of this ... insisting his name will be cleared in court. He reportedly faces upwards of 50 years behind bars if convicted of the charges.

Ricky has been in L.A. lately filming a new TV series for Apple. He's due in court down in PR later this month.

Ricky Martin Nephew Claims Domestic Violence & Incest ... Singer Calls BS

Published | Updated
UPDATE

5:50 PM PT -- Ricky Martin's attorney, Marty Singer, tells TMZ ... "Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been - and would never be - involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew."

UPDATE

Rick's rep adds ... "The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts."

UPDATE

4:05 PM PT -- Ricky was spotted on the set of "Mrs. American Pie" Friday in Los Angeles.

UPDATE

Ricky Martin's alleged domestic violence accuser is one of his own family members ... and now the pop star's reportedly staring down the possibility of a half-century behind bars.

A new report Friday from Spanish news website Marca identifies Ricky's accuser as his 21-year-old nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, which would introduce incest into the case in Puerto Rico.

The singer's brother, Eric Martin, reportedly identified the alleged victim ... and Ricky is going to court July 21. Under Puerto Rican law, there are harsher penalties for certain sexual crimes when the alleged victim is related to the accused, but it is unclear exactly what Martin is facing.

Nevertheless, Marca is reporting that Martin faces up to 50 years behind bars if convicted.

As we reported ... Ricky was accused of domestic violence earlier this month, and the alleged victim, whose identity was previously unknown, got a temporary restraining order against Ricky, who has denied the allegations.

Now, Marca is reporting the nephew allegedly ended a 7-month relationship with Ricky ... Ricky allegedly did not take it well, continuing to contact his nephew and showing up at his nephew's home.

We reached out to Ricky's camp ... so far no word back.

NYPD's on the lookout for a guy who tried to snatch up a French bulldog -- an incident that was caught on camera, and will look painfully familiar to Lady Gaga's dog walker.

The man followed a woman and her pup into a revolving door in Manhattan's Financial District ... and then the guy suddenly blocked the door, and started reaching for the dog and its leash. The footage, released by NYPD Thursday, shows a man blocking the door as he reaches for the dog.

He tried to tug the Frenchie away from its owner during this struggle, which happened last month, but cops just released the footage. You can see the suspect slam the woman against the glass door, and NYPD says she suffered a head injury.

Luckily, the guy didn't get the dog, and after getting treatment at a hospital ... its owner is okay too. Cops are still searching for the suspect.

French bulldog thefts have become a nationwide issue ... as you recall, attackers stole Lady Gaga's 2 pooches last year from her dogwalker, Ryan Fischer, and shot him in the process.

TMZ broke the story ... Ryan called out for help as the group jumped out of a car, grabbed the dogs and shot him in the chest.

Ryan survived, but after a long hospital stay. Gaga's dogs were eventually recovered and the suspects have been arrested and charged with attempted murder. They've yet to stand trial.

Jaxson Hayes Arrest Officer's Neck Kneeling Broke Policy ... Commission Rules

Published | Updated

The officer who knelt on Jaxson Hayes' neck during his July 2021 arrest broke department protocols ... the Los Angeles Police Commission announced this week.

TMZ Sports broke the story -- body cam footage of the arrest shows the 6'11, 220-pound NBAer getting into a violent altercation with officers who responded to a call of an alleged domestic dispute at his then-girlfriend's house.

CHAOTIC ARREST

Hayes was wrestled to the ground during the incident ... and one officer appeared to put his knee on Hayes' neck. The 22-year-old is heard on video saying "I can't breathe."

A use-of-force board review into the incident determined the officer put his knee on Hayes' neck twice -- once for four seconds, and another for 11 seconds.

The review states the officer unintentionally applied pressure to Hayes' trachea or windpipe ... although it was not enough to make him go unconscious, according to the LA Times.

The investigation concluded anyone with the same experience and training would know the officer's actions were not "proportional, objectively reasonable, or necessary."

It is unclear if the ruling will result in punishment for the officer.

Hayes was also tased twice during the incident ... but it was determined to be justified due to the hooper's level of resistance.

Hayes was hit with 12 charges as a result of the incident. He later pleaded no contest to resisting arrest and false imprisonment ... and was sentenced to three years probation, 450 hours of community service and weekly domestic violence classes.

Little League Baseball Gunshots Erupt At Game ... Teams Withdraw From Tournament

Published

Horrifying moment on a Little League baseball diamond over the weekend ... gunshots rang out near the field, sending kids and coaches running for cover.

The terrifying scene happened on Sunday in North Carolina ... when South Durham's 8U Orange All-Star team and Wilmington's 8U Machine Pitch squad were playing at the Gillette Athletic Complex in Wilson, NC.

Video shows three gunshots -- appearing to be VERY close to the action on the field -- went off, forcing the 7 and 8-year-old players, along with coaches, umps, parents and spectators to hit the ground and sprint away in a panic.

Thankfully, cops say no one was hurt in the incident ... though, according to WITN, a minivan's window that was parked near the field was struck by the gunfire.

Despite everyone making it out physically unscathed, the two teams have since pulled out of the tournament -- with South Durham officials saying it was best for the kids.

"It was a terrifying situation for all involved," the team said in a statement. "Video shows coaches bravely covering players with their bodies and crawling off baseball fields."

"No child or parent should ever experience anything like this."

The Wilson Police Department, meanwhile, said in a statement that it is investigating the shooting ... but added there's currently "no evidence that this situation was an active shooter incident."

"The Wilson Police Department, at this time, has no evidence that anyone at the location was intentionally targeted by gunfire."

POLICE FLEE SHOOTER

New video shows the horrific scene inside the Uvalde school where a gunman murdered 19 children and 2 teachers, and you see the police try and approach the shooter and then run for cover when the gunman shoots at them.

KVUE TV obtained the surveillance video ... 3 minutes after the shooter entered the school and began firing rounds into 2 classrooms, you see the police enter the hallway inside the school and approach the door outside the classroom where the shooter was firing rounds at the children.

The shooter then begins firing rounds outside the classroom, presumably at the cops. The police then flee the immediate area and retreat a distance away ... looking for cover in the hallway.

Two cops touch their head and neck area, as if to see if they were shot.

For the next 45 minutes, you see reinforcements arrive ... but they never try to breach the classroom. They eventually set up right outside the classroom but don't attempt to enter for another 30 minutes. That's when they enter a classroom and they see the shooter emerging from a closet and a Border Patrol cop shoots him dead.

As you know, parents of the murdered children are demanding answers from City officials ... like why the cops stalled the way they did? So far, those answers have not been forthcoming.

Henry Ruggs Back In Court ... 1st Appearance Since November

Published | Updated

For the first time since 2021, Henry Ruggs appeared in a courtroom in Las Vegas for a hearing in his DUI crash case.

The 23-year-old former Las Vegas Raiders star -- who was charged back in November 2021 with four felonies after prosecutors accused him of killing Tina Tintor and her dog in a fiery car crash -- showed up to the Nevada courthouse alongside his attorneys.

During the hearing, Ruggs' lawyers argued that police had no probable cause to obtain a warrant to collect his blood following the car accident. They asked for the tests -- which cops say showed Ruggs had a BAC of .161 following the wreck -- to not be allowed to be used as evidence in the case.

The judge, however, denied the motion.

Ruggs appeared to be stoic in the courtroom as his attorneys spoke, displaying little emotion. He wore a white button-down shirt, a black bowtie, and blue pants and did not address reporters inside or outside of the courtroom.

This is the first time Ruggs has been seen in public since late November 2021, when he was ordered to show up for a hearing over a missed breath test.

As we reported, Ruggs is facing more than 50 years in prison if he's convicted on all of the charges against him.

Records show his next hearing in the case has been set for September.

Eagles Alleged Scheme To Sell Stolen Lyrics ... Three Men Indicted

Published | Updated

Prosecutors in New York say they discovered a scheme to sell stolen handwritten lyrics from some of the Eagles' most famous songs ... and now 3 men have been indicted as a result of the investigation.

Here's the deal ... prosecutors say the men were in possession of about 100 pages of Don Henley's handwritten notes and lyrics for the band's "Hotel California" album, with the men allegedly trying to fool auction houses into buying the memorabilia despite them knowing it was stolen.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg says the men fabricated stories about the origin of the documents, and their right to possess them, so they could turn a profit ... even allegedly engaging in a years-long campaign to stop Don from recovering the stolen manuscripts, which are valued at over $1 million.

Prosecutors say the manuscripts were originally stolen back in the 1970s by an author hired to write a biography of the band and then sold to rare books dealer Glenn Horowitz, who in turn sold them to Craig Inciardi and Edward Kosinski.

The D.A. says when Don learned Inciardi and Kosinski were allegedly trying to sell portions of the manuscripts, he filed police reports and told the men the materials were stolen, demanding their return.

Prosecutors say Inciardi and Kosinski then worked to fabricate ownership records to try and coerce Don into buying back the stolen property. At the same time, the D.A. says the men were trying to sell the manuscripts through Christie's and Sotheby's auction houses.

The D.A. says their office executed search warrants to recover Don's stolen manuscripts from Kosinski's home and Sotheby's ... and a short while later, prosecutors say Horowitz tried to use the death of Eagles founding member Glenn Frey to prevent criminal prosecution by claiming he got the manuscripts from Frey.

The men are each charged with one count of fourth-degree conspiracy. Inciardi and Kosinski are also charged with first-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Horowitz is also charged with first-degree attempted criminal possession of stolen property, plus two counts of second-degree hindering prosecution.

Don's manager, Irving Azoff, tells TMZ ... "This action exposes the truth about music memorabilia sales of highly personal, stolen items hidden behind a façade of legitimacy. No one has the right to sell illegally obtained property or profit from the outright theft of irreplaceable pieces of musical history."

Azoff continues, "These handwritten lyrics are an integral part of the legacy Don Henley has created over the course of his 50-plus-year career. We look forward to the return of Don’s property, for him and his family to enjoy and preserve for posterity."

L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón says Semeon Tesfamarian launched a brutal, unprovoked attack on Kim ... and the guy has a history of allegedly attacking random people with weapons.

UPDATE

Tesfamarian is facing one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon ... and he's staring at 11 years in state prison if convicted. He is being held without bail.

UPDATE

Prosecutors say Tesfamarian allegedly approached Kim and threw a 10-inch metal bolt at her face, causing serious injuries.

Video taken in the seconds after Kim Glass was attacked on the streets of Downtown L.A. has emerged ... and it shows blood was spattered everywhere near the former volleyball star as she sat injured on the sidewalk.

Benson Parks captured the footage on his phone over the weekend, just moments after Glass, who won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, had apparently been struck by a heavy object thrown by a homeless man who was standing near her in the street.

You can see in the clips, there were several pools of blood near Glass, who was holding a bandage near her eye and yelling in pain.

The video also shows Parks holding down the man who was suspected of throwing the object.

As we reported, Glass claims the incident happened after she had finished dining with a friend.

"He just like looked at me with some pretty hateful eyes," Glass said of the attack. "And, as I turned to go tell my friend, 'I think something's, like, wrong with him and I think he's going to hit a car,' before I knew it, a big metal bolt, like pipe, hit me right here."

"It happened so fast."

37-year-old Glass said she suffered multiple facial fractures and needed several stitches to close the gashes on her face ... though, thankfully, she added doctors were optimistic her vision would eventually return to normal.

The suspect, meanwhile, was arrested by the LAPD ... and booked on a charge of felony assault with a deadly weapon.

Olympian Kim Glass Attacked By Homeless Man ... Reveals Horrific Injuries

UPDATE

9:50 AM PT -- The LAPD says it did arrest the suspect -- ID'ed as a 51-year-old male -- announcing Monday afternoon the man was booked for felony assault with a deadly weapon and was given no bail.

Volleyball star Kim Glass -- who won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics -- says she was attacked by a homeless man in Los Angeles this weekend ... and nearly lost her eye in the incident.

Glass said it all happened on Saturday ... after she was leaving lunch with a friend at a restaurant in Downtown L.A.

In a series of videos posted to her social media page, Glass said after she had exited the eatery, she noticed a man in the street with something in his hand.

"He just like looked at me with some pretty hateful eyes," Glass said. "And, as I turned to go tell my friend, 'I think something's, like, wrong with him and I think he's going to hit a car,' before I knew it, a big metal bolt, like pipe, hit me right here."

"It happened so fast."

The 37-year-old said the man threw the object at her from several feet away ... and it slammed right into her eye socket and the bridge of her nose -- 'causing serious damage.

In her videos, taken a day after the attack, you can see her eye was nearly swollen shut, and her face was still bloodied. She said in the clips she was diagnosed with multiple facial fractures and needed stitches to close wounds.

Somehow, Glass said doctors don't expect her vision to be permanently affected by the incident. She added she was grateful for all the support she's received from friends and family since the incident, and happy things didn't turn out worse.

"Just be safe out there," she said in her videos ... "There's a lot of mentally ill people on these streets right now and you shouldn't have to be fearful when you walk but it's true. And, so, you guys just be safe."

As for the man who she accused of throwing the object, she said bystanders held him down until police arrived. No word if the man was ultimately arrested.

Glass -- a 6-foot-3 outside hitter -- played for the U.S. Women's National Team for years following a stellar career at the Univ. Of Arizona ... and also modeled in her time off the court, appearing in the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
