Finally, a politician is going to bat for pro athletes who wanna use weed -- saying the NFL and NBA are treating players like 2nd class citizens for taking away their rights to get high (medically).

Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) says it's about damn time league commissioners acknowledge that marijuana is BETTER for treating the "really terrible pain" pro athletes endure.

"It's much less damaging than the opiods, the painkillers, the shots, the pills ... and it's time professional sports stops punishing them but works with them."

Congressman Blumenauer says 2/3 Americans have legal access to medical marijuana -- so to ban NBA and NFL players is basically treating them like "second class citizens."

BTW -- shout-out to the great people of the 3rd District in Oregon, your rep is the COOLEST DUDE EVER.

We also spoke with ex-NBA player Al Harrington -- who's actively lobbying the NBA to lift the weed ban -- and asked if there's been any progress since he spoke about the issue with ex-commish David Stern.

6:01 PM PT -- Lamar's rep says he collapsed due to dehydration after an intense workout earlier in the day without the necessary fluids in his system. They also said it was very hot in the club, while adding ... he's "doing great."

Lamar Odom collapsed at his VIP booth at an L.A. nightclub early Sunday morning ... TMZ Sports has the video.

Odom was at Bootsy Bellows on the Sunset Strip when several staffers and patrons noticed the ex-NBA star collapsed to the ground around 2 AM. You can see security rush in to help and he seems to be conscious.

The person who shot the video tells TMZ Sports he saw Odom drinking for several hours before the incident.

The issue ... Odom has a serious history with substance abuse -- he almost died from a drug overdose at a brothel in 2015.

Odom has since gone to rehab and vowed to change his life -- but he's been partying a lot lately ... from strip clubs to nightclubs.

Charles Manson is now a model prisoner ... because wreaking havoc behind bars is apparently a young man's game.

Sources with the California Department of Corrections tell TMZ ... The soon-to-be 83-year-old murderer hasn't violated prison rules since February 29, 2016 when guards found him in possession of a cell phone. A big no-no.

Prison officials believe Manson's on a 20-month goody two-shoes streak simply because of old age and health complications.

But Manson has not always been a model prisoner ... far from it. TMZ's obtained Manson's rap sheet in prison ... and he's tested patience for decades. There are over 100 infractions that go back to 1972, including ...

Daniel Cormier wants ANOTHER crack at Jon Jones -- and he's calling for mercy when it comes to JJ's suspension so he can get another shot at his rival before he's too old.

Cormier is 38 -- and that's why he hopes USADA doesn't hit Jones with the maximum 4-year suspension for testing positive for 'roids at UFC 214.

"I would love for him to get another 1-year suspension -- then we can fight again."

The Houston Astros were THIRSTY after lockin' down their first World Series in franchise history -- so pitchers Ken Giles and James Hoyt used the Commissioner's Trophy as a beer luge to help the boys drink up!!

But the locker room celebration was just getting started ... clubhouse vet Brian McCann got in the middle of a dogpile for an epic booze shower -- with the 'Stros poppin' bottles of Limited Edition Championship Brut -- and he loved it.

Series MVP George Springer and third baseman Alex Bregman also got wet -- though Breg seemed a little pissed 'cause he didn't have his goggles on.

But don't get it twisted -- the guys were PUMPED. Also drunk. It was awesome.

He's staring down the barrel of a 4-year suspension, but Jon Jones says he's NOT giving up his fight career -- and he's still training as if he'll be back in the near future.

TMZ Sports broke the story ... Jones was popped for steroids in August after UFC 214 -- the second time he's tested positive for a banned substance in the last 2 years.

Jones has been provisionally suspended and is now facing 4 years in the penalty box once the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) metes out the official punishment.

But Jon isn't waving the white flag just yet ... in fact, he busted out the UFC gear and hit the mitts with a trainer -- insisting, "If I made it to the top of the mountain once, I can do it again."

The question ... is he looking to switch sports?

He added another caption saying, "I believe there are talents inside of me I haven't even discovered yet. There's nothing I put my mind to that I can't achieve, just got to be willing to put in the work."

Jones is a freak athlete. He's only 30. Guessing he's not planning on doing NOTHING.

Oakland A's catcher Bruce Maxwell -- the only MLB player who took a knee last season -- made "anti-police statements" and cussed out officers during his gun arrest ... this according to the police report.

26-year-old Maxwell was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct in Scottsdale, AZ on Saturday after allegedly pulling a gun on a food delivery woman.

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ Sports, the woman says she was making a routine delivery from Geno's Pizza and Cheesesteaks in Tempe when Maxwell answered the door and stuck a gun right in her face.

"Lindsay advised me she was staring straight at the barrel of a silver handgun," the reporting officer put in the notes.

When cops confronted Maxwell, he reeked of booze, cussed like crazy and couldn't keep his story straight. However, at one point Maxwell said he had cancelled his food order before it arrived and was not expecting it to be delivered.

Cops say Maxwell admitted he had 2 guns in his apartment and a bunch of ammo -- but insisted he had a concealed carry permit.

As the investigation continued, cops say Maxwell "began making anti-police statements and utilized excessive profanity." When cops decided to arrest him, he initially refused to comply.

One cop had a rifle trained on Maxwell during the incident. Another gave Maxwell instructions while pointing a taser at him. Maxwell ultimately surrendered without any weapons being used.

Maxwell was transported to a nearby jail, where he continued to cuss out police officers -- according to the report.

Christopher McDonald was slinging brew like the Germans do during Oktoberfest -- which could help explain his DUI arrest later the same day.

TMZ has obtained video of Chris at an Oktoberfest Saturday around the Lake Arrowhead area, and as you can see ... he was front and center for the festivities, beer in hand and all.

Unclear how much this plays into his bust later that night, but we do know he was arrested for DUI and thrown into jail just hours later. We're told this video was taken around 5 PM ... about 4 hours before he crashed his Porsche and was taken into custody.

As we reported ... Chris allegedly tried playing the celeb card with cops, but they weren't buying what he was selling -- which is apparent in these arrest photos. He was taken to a nearby jail and was set to be released without bail.

Here's something a little strange -- Charlie Heaton got kicked out of the U.S. because he was allegedly caught with cocaine at the airport ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... the "Stranger Things" star flew into LAX last Saturday from London, but was denied entry because a random baggage check uncovered trace amounts of cocaine in his bag.

We're told since Heaton didn't have a previous record, he was allowed to withdraw his application to enter the country and get on a plane back to London instead of being arrested.

Our sources say he will be allowed to enter the U.S. again ... but not until he reapplies for admission.

This airport incident is why Heaton was noticeably missing from the Netflix Season 2 premiere party for "Stranger Things" Thursday night in L.A.

Ex-boxing champ -- turned "Dancing with the Stars" contestant -- Victor Ortiz struck a plea deal in his DUI case ... and he's on thin ice for the next 3 years.

TMZ Sports broke the story ... Ortiz was arrested on Sept. 24 of last year in Ventura County, CA around 7 PM when cops pulled over his BMW and smelled booze.

Officials say Ortiz's BAC was MORE than .15 ... which is a huge deal because in California, that triggers a "special allegation" which carries a tougher penalty if convicted ... more jail, higher fines, etc.

But Ortiz caught a huge break -- cutting a deal with prosecutors in which he plead guilty to a misdemeanor DUI and in exchange the "special allegation" was dismissed.

He was sentenced to 3 years probation and 8 days in county jail -- but he'll get credit for time served for 4 days and the remaining 4 days will be served as part of a work release program.

Bizarre twist in the Odell Beckham Sr. arrest -- cops say the NFL star's father was packin' heat and had weed and a scale in his truck when he was arrested.

The makings of a drug deal? Not exactly. He was NOT charged with intent to distribute ... but it doesn't look good.

According to the arrest report obtained by TMZ Sports ... cops pulled Odell's father over after smelling a cloud of marijuana when his truck drove past an officer at a stop sign.

When the officer approached, Odell had a burned out joint in the car and weed in a jar. Cops say they also found a loaded Ruger 9mm pistol with 16 bullets in the clip and 1 in the chamber.

Odell insisted the weed (1.524 ounces) was only for personal use -- he told the cops he thought it was legal to have it in his possession. No explanation for the gun.

5:25 PM PT -- We've obtained Bolling Jr.'s autopsy report -- it confirms Sr.'s tweets -- saying Jr. died of an accidental overdose. The report states Jr.'s blood had cocaine, fentanyl and a medication for anxiety.

The death of Eric Chase Bolling Jr. has been ruled an accidental overdose ... this according to his father.

The ex-Fox News Channel anchor, Eric Bolling, said he received tragic news Thursday from the coroner in Colorado informing him his 19-year-old son accidentally overdosed on drugs that included opioids. Eric went on to say, "Adrienne and I thank you for your continued prayers and support. We must fight against this national epidemic, too many innocent victims."

The news comes on the same day President Trump declared the opioid epidemic a national public health emergency.

Odell Beckham's biological father -- Odell Beckham Sr. -- was arrested in Texas on Wednesday after officials in Texas say he was carrying weed and a gun ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Details surrounding the arrest are unclear -- but Odell was booked on 2 charges ... "unlawful carrying weapon" and "possession of marijuana under 2 ounces."

Beckham was taken to a nearby station where he was booked and posed for a mug shot. He has since been released on $5,000 bail.

Like his son, Odell Sr. played football at LSU -- and was the starting running back for the Tigers when Odell was born in 1992.

Miles Teller won't face charges for public intoxication after getting busted in San Diego ... because cops did him a solid.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... police are not sending the case to the City Attorney, and they've tossed the whole matter. We're told it was a first-time offense, and there were no additional charges besides being drunk in public -- a misdemeanor -- so cops said ... all good.

As we reported ... Miles was arrested in June when cops said he was falling down drunk and refused to cooperate when they placed him in the drunk tank. Miles said there was no evidence to charge him with a crime.

Cops agreed, or maybe just agreed to let this one slide.

Former WWE superstar Kaitlyn is opening up about her battle with drug and alcohol addiction ... saying she's turned her life around after "wanting to die" at her lowest point.

Kaitlyn -- real name Celeste Bonin -- shared her story on the 1-year anniversary of checking herself in for a drug detox.

"I remember getting out of the hospital feeling like death, with a medical taper plan of meds and thinking, 'What have I done to myself?'"

"I celebrated my 30th birthday 5 days later and I remember wanting to die."

Kaitlyn says a lot of people get hooked on those detox meds ... but she instead turned to alcohol to deal with her depression and anxiety.

The former Divas champ didn't detail exactly how she overcame her addictions -- or the drug(s) she was hooked on -- but says she's been able to rebuild her life in the time since.

Kaitlyn left off with a message for anyone in her shoes -- "Never be too proud to ask for help. Be able to wake up and look at yourself in the mirror."

Ex-NBA commissioner David Stern says anti-weed rules in pro sports are antiquated -- and he thinks it's time the NBA and other major leagues give the green light to the green stuff.

"I'm now at the point where, personally, I think [weed] probably should be removed from the ban list," Stern told ex-NBA player Al Harrington during an interview for Uninterrupted.

FYI, Harrington is now a marijuana entrepreneur who's invested more than $3 MILLION in his weed business. Harrington says he started using Rx weed during his playing days and saw real results.

So, he asked Stern how he felt about weed -- and the ex-Commish is VERY open to the idea of finally allowing players to smoke.

"I think we have to change the Collective Bargaining Agreement and let you do what is legal in your state," Stern says.

"If marijuana is now in the process of being legalized, I think you should be allowed to do what's legal in your state."

Stern says back when he was the commish, public perception was that weed is a gateway drug to harder stuff ... but Stern says the perception has changed radically.
