NBA Prospect Obi Toppin Soars Over Bro ... Insane Jam Sesh!!!

Published

Future NBA lottery pick Obi Toppin and his brother are taking each other to new heights during the COVID-19 pandemic ... by literally JUMPING over each other in an insane dunk session!!!

Of course, Obi was one of the best players in college basketball with the Dayton Flyers last season ... and younger bro, Jacob, will star at Kentucky after playing one season at Rhode Island.

The brothers proved they BOTH got incredible hops in a vid posted to IG on Friday ... doing one-handed windmill dunks while soaring over each other.

To put things into perspective -- Obi is 6'9" ... and Jacob is 6'8". So yeah, impressive as hell.

It's nice to see Jacob helping keep Obi -- this season's Wooden Award winner -- prepared for the Association ... with the NBA Draft set to go down in October.

Some experts have Obi projected to be the #1 overall pick in the draft ... and he looks ready to ball.

Baton Rouge School Board Member Caught 'Online Shopping' Mercilessly Called Out by Activist

TRY THIS ON FOR SIZE, LADY

A Louisiana city official who resisted taking Robert E. Lee out of a school's name got taken to task by a black activist, who forced her to leave a meeting in utter shame.

This epic take-down of words went down Thursday during a Baton Rouge School Board meeting, where District 8 member Connie Bernard was publicly called out by Gary Chambers Jr., who stepped to the mic and unloaded on what he described as her inherent racism.

A bit of context ... part of the purpose for Thursday's meeting was to circle back to an issue that'd been discussed recently in the community -- namely, taking the "Lee" out of Lee High School, which was already a stripped-down version of Robert E. Lee High School.

Several members of the community have been calling for a full-blown name change of late, and School Board Member Bernard said last week folks offended by REL needed to brush up on their history. Welp, Mr. Chambers Jr. here had some things to say about that.

For starters, he addressed the fact that it appeared Ms. Bernard was captured on camera online shopping from her laptop during the meeting, while members of the public were airing out their grievances on the topic.

Chambers Jr. said her behavior and comments proved she was racist, and he demanded that she resign immediately. Ms. Bernard then got up and walked out of the room. She later apologized for her comments about Lee, and insisted she wasn't online shopping ... but simply came across a pop-up ad, which she wasn't able to close fast enough.

Queensland Department of Environment and Science / Great Barrier Reef Foundation

This is pretty spectacular ... a video capturing tens of thousands of green turtles that are making their way to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia -- 'cause it's nesting season!!!

Australian scientists shot the vid, showing what they say are approximately 64,000 turtles migrating to the Reef, and the drone footage shows just how many of them are present.

The Queensland Government's Dept. of Environment and Science had been monitoring the turtles, but the numbers they had predicted for the turtle army were off by 50% -- meaning there were twice as many than scientists had originally thought.

In any event ... just a cool video to watch.

L.A. Firefighters Battle Huge Bel-Air Fire

Sepulveda Fire
MANAGING THE FLAMES

Normally idyllic and ritzy Bel-Air looks totally apocalyptic now as a massive brush fire is raging in the hills.

More than 200 L.A. firefighters were on the scene early Wednesday morning near the 405 Freeway as a wildfire scorched at least 50 acres. The brush fire broke out just after midnight in the Sepulveda Pass ... near the famous Getty Center museum.

By 3 AM, L.A. fire officials said they'd made significant progress, although 2 firefighters who helped with the battle were injured and treated at the scene.

There's some relief in sight for firefighters too ... though L.A. temperatures are in the 90s now... they're expected too cool off heading into the weekend.

Still, this Bel-Air blaze is eerily similar to the one that raged out of control back in December 2017. As we reported ... that fire burned just steps away from famous homes and the BILLIONS of dollars worth of art inside the Getty Center.

Firefighters won that battle ... but here we go again.

Black Lives Matter L.A. Protest Draws 50,000 ... YG Shoots Music Vid

Published | Updated

As L.A.'s largest protest yet of George Floyd's killing made its way through Hollywood streets -- with huge celebs showing support -- YG used it as a powerful backdrop for his new "F**k the Police" music video.

The peaceful demonstration of more than 50,000 people began Sunday on Hollywood Blvd ... and the aerial views were epic. YG teamed up with BLM LA and joined activist and BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors at the front of the crowd to share some words and explain the importance of using his voice.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

Much of the crowd came equipped with face masks, homemade BLM signs and messaging to remember the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and so many other black people killed by police.

"I'M BLACK AND I'M PROUD"

YG also used the huge protest as the music video setting for his newly released track, "F**k the Police" ... which he shot during the event. Speaking of which, police presence during the march was minimal, and it remained a totally peaceful event.

Other celebs in attendance included Jamie Foxx, J Lo, A-Rod, Machine Gun Kelly, Vanessa Hudgens, Mod Sun, Margaret Qualley, Kaia Gerber, Michael Rappaport, Madeline Petsch, Karreuche Tran, Ireland Baldwin and Marlon Wayans.

There were separate protests in other parts of L.A as well, including Compton, which was attended by Russell Westbrook, Cassie and Alex Fine.

Sunday's event followed the success of protests last Tuesday which ended outside the home of L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti. Lizzo, Kehlani and Common were among those who marched ... it was shortly after that protest when Garcetti announced an enormous, $150 million cut, from the LAPD's budget.

Of course, the L.A. protests were not the only ones over the weekend ... as several major cities and small towns in the U.S. kept the demonstrations going in a continued show of support for ending systemic racism and police brutality.

Seattle Gunman Drives Car into Protesters ... Opens Fire on One

Published | Updated

Cops have a Seattle gunman in custody after he drove his car down a crowded street of peaceful protesters and shot a person who tried to stop him.

It was a terrifying scene Sunday evening as the black car came barreling down a street ... forcing people to run and jump out of the suspect's path.

He slowed down as he approached a barricade, and a few people reached into his car ... trying to stop him before he reached a much more crowded street. That's when he opened fire, shooting one male victim ... then stopped his car and got out brandishing the handgun.

Onlookers from surrounding buildings screamed in horror, and the gunman started running through a packed street of people protesting the killing of George Floyd.

Seattle PD was able to track down the gunman before anyone else was injured and they now have him in custody.

The 27-year-old man who was shot in the arm was taken to hospital for treatment.

Seattle Protests Violence Erupts As Cops Push Back ... Protesters Hurl Objects

Published | Updated

Cops tossing explosives, charging at protesters and protesters hurling bottles and rocks -- that was the ugly scene in Seattle after a violent clash.

What had been a peaceful protest looked more like a war zone Saturday evening right around sunset. Seattle PD says it warned demonstrators to stop pushing barricades, and then some people in the crowd started throwing all sorts of objects at cops.

This video, shot by someone right in the thick of the skirmish, is alarming. Cops, mostly on bicycles, fired off pepper spray and multiple flash-bang explosives in an attempt to advance their line and push back the crowd.

Seattle PD says 2 of its officers had to get treatment for wounds. It's unclear how many protesters were injured.

Protest organizers say there were just a few "bad apples" who agitated cops and turned their effective rally into a battleground.

Missouri Cop Rams Man with Unmarked Car ... Caught on Doorbell Cam

QUESTIONABLE METHODS

This horrifying video has a Missouri cop under investigation -- he rammed a suspect with his car, then pounced on the injured man ... and it did all in plain view of a doorbell cam.

The incredibly violent scene played out in Florissant, MO -- just outside St. Louis -- when the officer, in an apparently unmarked car, pursued the suspect who was on foot. The Tuesday night chase came to an end though when the cop just drove right over the suspect.

The video, first posted by RealSTLMedia, shows the suspect somehow managing to get up and stumble for a few feet before the cop jumped on his back and appeared to be trying to put cuffs on him. The suspect was screaming out in pain and telling the cop he didn't have anything on him.

The 20-year-old suspect was reportedly wanted for pending charges and ended up needing hospital treatment ... but only for an ankle injury. Pretty miraculous.

Meanwhile, the Florissant PD officer's been suspended while he's investigated. The police chief, Timothy Fagan, said he'd seen the video for the first time on Saturday, and a special prosecutor's been assigned to the case.

The still-unnamed cop is reportedly a 9-year veteran. The incident has also been kicked up to St. Louis County PD and the FBI for further investigation.

UK BLM Protesters Slave Trader Statue Ripped Down ... Tossed into Harbor!!!

Published | Updated

This is how much the killing of George Floyd has disgusted not just America, but the world ... Black Lives Matter protesters in England destroyed a more than 100-year-old statue honoring a slave trader.

The UK's had a weekend filled with demonstrations, but this one's gotta be the most symbolic. The crowd dismantled a bronze statue of Edward Colston in the shipping town of Bristol ... and taking it down wasn't enough for them.

After using ropes to pull the monument off its base, the protesters dragged it over to the River Avon and tossed into the water ... watching it quickly sink.

The statue had stood in Bristol since 1895 in tribute to Colston, who traded an estimated 84,000 African men, women and children to the Caribbean and North America.

Several petitions have failed to get the statue removed, but the BLM crowd would not be denied and massive cheers went up -- from white people too -- as it sunk to the bottom of the river.

Enjoy your middle passage, Colston.

Old Lady 'Karen' These Kids Don't Have a Driver's License!!! Pissed Over Power Wheels

CRANKY KAREN

Karen has struck again -- this time at a park where a few little kids were taking a Power Wheels toy car for a spin ... and she was ready to pull 'em over.

Check it out ... the old lady -- who one Twitter user hilariously dubbed "grandkaren" -- is upset that the woman watching the children is letting them "drive all over the place."

When the woman says the kids are just playing in their toy vehicle, Karen says she's never seen a car in the park before ... and what really bothers her is that they don't have a driver's license.

Again, this is a Power Wheels ride ... which has a TOP speed of 5 mph.

Grandkaren gets one last gripe in about the kids being unsupervised ... by the woman recording them from yards away.

It's unclear when and where this vid was shot, but regardless ... it's incredible stuff.

BACK AT YA

An apparent agitator in the middle of a peaceful protest's car is burned out ... after the firework he tried to leave got thrown back into his car by a protester.

The crazy incident went down Tuesday in Riverside, CA after a man pulled into the middle of the street, stepped out and laid down what looks like a Molotov cocktail. You can see from the video the stunt immediately backfired on him because a protester -- trying to keep the march peaceful -- grabbed the smoking bottle and tried tossing it right back into dude's car!!!

The agitator made a failed attempt to get it out of the vehicle but ended up ducking for cover. The bottle never actually made it inside the car but it fired directly into the car's interior and you can see the fireworks go off. You can also see the unattended car roll in reverse before some good folks jumped in and put the car in park.

It's a stark illustration of what's been happening in a lot of the protests over George Floyd's death at the hands of ex-cop Derek Chauvin.

Peaceful demonstrations interrupted by agitators trying to amp up violence. This time peaceniks fought back.

Atlanta Protests Black Students Tased in Car Speak Out, Decry Brutality in Presser

UPDATE

3:17 PM PT -- The two black students who were tased in their vehicle and then violently removed from it say they're lucky to be alive to tell the tale -- but they have an even more important message ... see it, change it.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
UPDATE

Messiah Young and Taniyah Pilgrim got in front of cameras Monday and told the media how they're processing what happened to them in Atlanta this weekend -- when they were swarmed by police officers and yanked from the car by force ... this after being tased.

UPDATE

Messiah said he was grateful to have so many allies in the community -- there in ATL and beyond -- who had his and Taniyah's backs ... but he also said what occurred would likely happen again, adding their case was not unique ... and going to demand structural change.

UPDATE

Taniyah then spoke, and blasted one of the officers on the scene -- not one of the two that were fired -- saying he told them they were lucky he and his team didn't shoot them. As Taniyah rightly notes, that's not something to say to someone who just went through that.

Two Atlanta cops have been fired over this violent incident -- a black couple yanked from their car and tased while trying to leave a protest ... all captured on police body cam.

APD released the video showing just how chaotic and scary it was Saturday night for the 2 college students as they were being swarmed and attacked by the cops. The officers smashed the windows when the couple refused to comply with their orders of exiting the vehicle, and then they fired their tasers on them.

The young woman can be heard shrieking as she's violently ripped from the car, and eventually ... they get the guy out too and put both of them in cuffs and lead them away.

It's still not clear what led up to this -- some have said these folks were out past curfew, other reports say they attempted to drive around a cop when ordered to stop -- but in any case ... this excessive force cost 2 of the officers their jobs, and sent 3 others to desk duty.

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said she understands the police are under distress ... they still have a responsibility not to escalate situations. She called it a clear case of "excessive force."

As for the 2 students -- both are not going to face charges. The guy was initially arrested Saturday night, but Mayor Bottoms has told APD to drop the case entirely.

Jon Jones is pissed off -- so he took to the streets of Albuquerque to confront vandals Sunday face-to-face ... and the video is intense.

You can see the UFC light heavyweight champion go right up to two masked people and demand they hand over their spray cans immediately.

Jon is 6'4", 205 pounds and arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time -- so yeah, the vandals listened and handed the cans right over.

After the incident, Jones went to social media to vent ..."Is this shit even about George Floyd anymore," Jones wrote ..."Why the f*ck are you punk ass teenagers destroying our cities!??"

"As a young black man trust me I’m frustrated as well but this is not the way, we are starting to make a bad situation worse."

"If you really got love for your city (505), protect your sh*t. All you old heads need to speak up, call your young family members and tell them to come home tonight."

SPACEX ASTRONAUTS WHAT'S UP, DOCK?!?

SUPER SPACY

It was awesome and picture-perfect, as the 2 U.S. astronauts hitched their space capsule onto the International Space Station.

It went down Sunday AM Earth time ... 19 hours after the Falcon 9 rocket blasted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

It's the first time in the history of U.S. space exploration that astronauts were hurled into parts unknown by a rocket manufactured by a private company -- in this case, Elon Musk's SpaceX.

A cam from the Space Station captured the docking procedure ... check out the red, white and green lights that signify the progress as the Dragon capsule bellies up to its host.

The 2 astronauts -- Robert Behnken and Doug Hurley -- took over the controls during part of the maneuver. The actual docking was computer-driven.

The docking follows a picture-perfect launch Saturday afternoon. The docking indicated that the first portion of the test flight with crew aboard was successful.

The trip will be considered a complete success once the astronauts return to Earth in the near future, opening the way for more travel to the space station and orbit by astronauts and perhaps space tourists in the years to come.

The Space Station is 250 miles above the earth and travels at the incomprehensible speed of 17,500 MPH. NASA, which partnered with SpaceX, hasn't decided how long the astronauts will stay up in space. It could be anywhere between a month and 3 months.
