'AGT' Finalist Michael Ketterer Avoids Charges After DV Arrest ... Gets Talking-To Instead
"America's Got Talent" finalist Michael Ketterer will not be charged after getting arrested last week for domestic violence ... TMZ has learned.
The L.A. City Attorney's Office tells us it's declined to file charges against Ketterer, and has instead opted to hold a City Attorney hearing for the 'AGT' singer. The hearing is often used as an alternative to criminal prosecution for low-level crimes.
We're told the Office looked at the evidence in Ketterer's case, and decided a hearing would be the best route. During the hearing, Ketterer will receive counseling on domestic violence, violence prevention and warned of the consequences for any repeat violations. It's essentially a stern talking-to.
TMZ broke the story ... Ketterer was put in cuffs last Thursday in Hollywood after cops were called to a hotel where he and his wife were staying. When officers arrived, they saw a visible red mark on Ketterer's wife, and arrested him for felony domestic violence.
Our law enforcement sources tell us cops had to book Ketterer for felony DV due to the mark, but the charge was being reduced to a misdemeanor because the injury was minor.
Michael told us the whole thing was a "misunderstanding" and that his wife didn't want to press charges.

Ex-boxing champ Victor Ortiz -- who appeared on "Dancing With the Stars" -- has been charged with 3 counts of felony sexual assault, including rape ... officials say.
The 31-year-old -- who also had roles in 'Expendables 3' and "Southpaw" -- surrendered to authorities in Oxnard, CA on Tuesday.
According to court records, the alleged incident took place inside of a home in Oxnard on March 19. The female accuser contacted police that same day and filed a report accusing Ortiz of sexual assault.

He was booked, posed for a mug shot, and bail was set at $100,000.
Ortiz is slated to fight Sunday night in Ontario -- but we're guessing that will likely be called off very soon.
It's not the first time Ortiz has been in trouble with the law -- he was arrested for DUI back in 2016. And in 2015, he was arrested after allegedly attacking a man at a Kenny Chesney concert at the Rose Bowl.

Suge Jacob Knight tells TMZ ... despite his father striking a 28-year plea deal in his murder case Thursday, he's staying positive about the situation. He admits he's incredibly concerned about his dad's health, but says Suge's a fighter ... and he's always going to be alright.

2:00 PM PT -- The plea deal was just unveiled in court, and Suge will get 28 years in prison after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter. The 53-year-old will get credit for time served -- he's been in jail awaiting trial for around 3 1/2 years. He'll also be on parole for 3 years after serving his prison sentence.
Suge's sentence is stiffer than a typical voluntarily manslaughter because he had a prior felony conviction in 1997. He also got an extra 5 years because the Carter killing was deemed a "serious and violent" felony. He got an additional year due to his truck being a deadly weapon.
Knight cracked a joke ... of sorts. Part of the judge's instructions to the defendant include a phrase about the possibility of deportation following conviction, to which Suge said, "So, ICE can come and get me." There was a smattering of laughter.
Suge Knight has struck a plea deal in his murder case ... TMZ has learned.
Several sources tell us the former Death Row Records exec will be in L.A. County Superior Court Thursday afternoon to enter a plea in the murder of Terry Carter. Knight had been facing the possibility of life in prison, and his trial was scheduled to begin Monday with jury selection.
We broke the story ... Suge ran over Terry back in January 2015 as he fled the Tam's Burgers parking lot in Compton. TMZ posted the surveillance video that showed Knight throw his truck in reverse, knock over one man, then drive forward over Terry ... killing him.
Knight had claimed he was not trying to run over either of the men he hit -- but merely trying to escape because he thought both men were about to shoot him.
Suge was arrested shortly after the incident and has been in jail ever since then, awaiting trial.

Elizabeth Smart Kidnapper Released from Prison ... Gets Taste of Freedom
Elizabeth Smart's kidnapper is a free woman again -- Wanda Barzee got out of a Utah state prison, and was spotted chowing down shortly thereafter.
Barzee was carrying a salad and a banana on Wednesday as she walked into a halfway house. She was convicted for aiding Brian David Mitchell in kidnapping Elizabeth in 2002, and spent 15 years behind bars. Elizabeth says Barzee stood by and watched as Mitchell repeatedly raped her.
Not long after Barzee's release, Elizabeth reacted on Instagram saying, "Without [a] doubt the past few weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotion ... May we all remain vigilant in watching over our families, friends, and community from anyone who would seek to hurt or take advantage."
Despite the Utah parole board deeming she was unfit for release, there was nothing it could do to keep Barzee off the streets because state law requires her release by the time her sentence is complete. She got credit for time served in the federal system.
As we reported, Barzee is on supervised release, and one term of her release includes ZERO contact, of any form, with Elizabeth.
We're told the requirement that Barzee stay away from Smart will be for the full 5 years of her supervised release. When that ends, Elizabeth can file for a protective order.
The feds will also be in contact with Elizabeth to make sure Wanda hasn't tried to contact her. If she does, Barzee will almost certainly punch an express ticket back to prison.

He claims he didn't know calling the cops would result in her arrest because similar situations are handled completely differently in Canada -- where he's from.
As for why things looked so bad ... Marie's BF told cops he had previous wounds from a mountain biking incident, and they were reopened during the altercation, which is why cops found blood, the lawyer said in court.
As we reported ... Marie was on new meds and mixed it with wine during dinner that evening, and she had a bad reaction. She's no longer taking those pills.
