Errol Spence Charged With DWI After Scary Ferrari Crash

Published | Updated

Boxing superstar Errol Spence has been charged with DWI ... after he crashed his Ferrari and flipped it several times in a terrifying accident last week, TMZ Sports has learned.

29-year-old Spence -- one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world -- crashed his white Ferrari around 3 AM in Dallas after driving at a high rate of speed and driving over the median, flipping at least 5 times.

Spence somehow managed to escape the crash with NO broken bones, but several broken teeth. He was later released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Dallas PD conducted an investigation into the accident ... and on Wednesday he was charged with a class B misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

Spence's rep released a statement shortly after the crash, saying, "[Spence's family] want to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes and are extremely grateful to the Dallas first responders who rush to the scene to attend to Errol after the accident and the doctors who are taking care of him at the hospital."

Shawn Oakman Drafted By XFL ... To L.A. Wildcats

Published

Ex-Baylor superstar and NFL prospect Shawn Oakman is making his return to the football field -- the defensive end just got drafted by the XFL's Los Angeles Wildcats.

27-year-old Oakman was destined for the NFL before he was accused of sexual assault days before the 2016 Draft. He went undrafted and spent the next 3 years fighting to prove his innocence.

Oakman was exonerated back in February -- with a jury deliberating 2 hours before finding him not guilty. Oakman had long argued the sex was consensual.

Oakman has been training like a maniac ever since his court battle ended in hopes of getting his football career back on track ... and now the XFL has given him his chance, with the Wildcats drafting him in the Open Phase of the draft on Wednesday.

LeBron James New Comments On China Controversy Can We Focus On American Problems?

Published
UPDATE

2:47 PM PT -- LeBron was just asked about the backlash he's received since his comments on China ... and he explained, "It's a tough situation we're all in right now."

UPDATE

James spoke with media after Lakers practice on Tuesday and started off by saying, "I try to do things that make my family proud, make my fans proud every time I step out of the house."

UPDATE
UPDATE

When asked if he understands where the criticism of his China comments is coming from, LeBron offered this explanation ...

UPDATE

"Obviously, it's a tough situation we're all in right now. Us as an Association, us as athletes, owners, GMs, so on and so forth."

UPDATE

"I think when an issue comes up, if you feel passionate about it or you feel like there's something you wanna talk about, then so be it. I also don't think that every issue should be everybody's problem as well. When things come up, there's multiple things that we haven't talked about that happen in our own country that we don't bring up."

UPDATE

LeBron brought up his efforts to help kids in the inner city -- which has been commendable for sure -- but that's not really what people are asking about right now.

UPDATE

James wrapped up his statement this way ...

UPDATE

"There's issues all over the world. The best thing we can do is, if you feel passionate about it, talk about it. If you're not ... if you don't have a lot of knowledge about it or you don't quite understand it, I don't think you should talk about it because it just puts you in a tough position."

UPDATE

Unclear if that last line was another shot at Daryl Morey -- who Bron had previously accused of being "misinformed" about the China situation.

UPDATE

12:18 PM PT -- Michael Rapaport just DESTROYED LeBron on "TMZ Live" -- saying he's the "fakest" guy in the NBA. He also blasts Bron's team, including Maverick Carter, saying they're all "yes men" and "flunkies."

UPDATE
Michael Rapaport
NOT SURPRISED
UPDATE

Rapaport also says people should STOP comparing Bron to Muhammad Ali -- explaining, "This guy couldn't hold Muhammad Ali's jockstrap."

UPDATE

7:21 AM PT -- As expected, protesters in Hong Kong are FURIOUS at LeBron James for speaking out against Daryl Morey ... and now they're burning Bron's jersey in the streets.

UPDATE

Around 200 people were reportedly demonstrating at the Southorn Playground in Hong Kong ... chanting praises for Daryl Morey while trashing James.

UPDATE

In fact, the Associated Press says the chants about LeBron included language that is "not printable."

LeBron James is FINALLY talking about the Daryl Morey tweet that sparked an international incident ... saying the Rockets GM simply "wasn't educated" about China before he posted his pro-Hong Kong tweet.

"I think that's another situation that should stay behind closed doors," LeBron told the media.

Remember, LeBron and the Lakers were in Shanghai to play the Brooklyn Nets in an exhibition game last week when the backlash over the tweet began.

Chinese officials essentially blackballed the Houston Rockets immediately -- taking down signage, pulling merchandise and blocking TV networks from airing games.

But, now LeBron is back in the U.S. ... and he's calling out Morey for what LeBron is describing as a selfish tweet.

"We all talk about this freedom of speech. Yes, we all do have freedom of speech, but at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you're not thinking about others and you're only thinking about yourself," LeBron said.

President Trump To STL Blues Player 'Think I Could Take Him in a Fight?!?'

Published

The St. Louis Blues celebrated their Stanley Cup title at the White House on Tuesday ... with President Trump crackin' jokes and picking hypothetical fights with the players!!!

The champs were honored at 1600 Penn. for beating the Boston Bruins in Game 7 to win it all last season ... and one player, Alexander Steen, got POTUS' attention (for obvious reasons).

"Look at that guy, look at the mouth on that guy," Trump told the crowd. "Come here a minute, come here."

"You think he's taken a few hits? You think I could take him in a fight?! I don't know."

There was more funny business ... with the stars of the team, like Jaden Schwartz, issuing a golf challenge to POTUS ... and Trump calling out rookie Jordan Binnington for giving up ONE goal in Game 7.

"He stopped 32 of 33 [shots], so why didn't you stop the other one, Jordan? You coulda made the game a lot easier!"

Aaron Rodgers Yo Hablo Espanol!!! Drops Spanish In Post-Game Interview

Published

Who needs a translator?!? Not Aaron Rodgers!!!

The Green Bay Packers QB flexed his Espanol during a post-game interview with ESPN Deportes on Monday night ... and it wasn't bad!!!

Of course, he wasn't exactly giving a lecture on geopolitics in Spanish ... he just used a few short phrases to praise his teammates' 23 to 22 victory over the Detroit Lions, but still -- impressive!!!

"Esto es un equipo increíble," Rodgers said ... "Te amo estos hombres."

Loose translation ... "This is an incredible team. I love those guys!"

The guy doing the interview, John Sutcliffe, was impressed -- and when Rodgers described himself as the old man on the team, Sutcliffe gave him a new Spanish nickname, "El Viejito."

By the way, Rodgers had a pretty decent game given his top WRs were all out with injuries -- completing 24 of 39 passes with 283 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT.

Now how do you say "terrible officiating" in Spanish???

Gov. Andrew Cuomo Drops N-Word While Discussing Racism

Published | Updated
Andrew Cuomo used the n-word to illustrate his point about racism against Italian-Americans.
A DOUBLE WHAMMY

Andrew Cuomo used the n-word -- while reading a quote from the NY Times -- to illustrate his point about racism against Italian-Americans.

New York's Governor was being interviewed Tuesday on WAMC radio when the topic turned to Indigenous Peoples' Day -- which was celebrated Monday -- and he steered the discussion to slurs used against Italians in the U.S. over history.

Referring to a NYT op-ed published over the weekend ... Cuomo said southern Italians, or Sicilians, were called "quote-unquote and pardon my language, but I’m just quoting the Times: ‘n****r wops.’ n-word wops, as a derogatory comment."

NBA's Moritz Wagner The Next Charles Barkley?!? YOUR GOLF SWING IS TURRIBLE!!!

Published

An NBA player being compared to Charles Barkley isn't always a good thing -- especially when it comes to golf ... because Mortiz Wagner is giving Chuck a run for his money for WORST SWING EVER!!!

NO EXAGGERATION -- THIS DUDE IS A PRO ATHLETE AND COULDN'T HIT THE BROADSIDE OF A BARN!!!

Here's the deal ... 22-year-old Mortiz joined the rest of his Washington Wizards teammates for an outing at Top Golf in Virginia on Monday -- and saying it went poorly for Wagner is a gross understatement.

Watch the vid ...the 6'11" power forward missed so badly, he nearly took a chunk out of the floor mat ... and his Mulligan swing wasn't much better.

But, is it worse than Barkley??? Watch and compare ...

And, get this, Mo's swing was so terrible ... Wagner's ex-Lakers teammate, Josh Hart, went to social media to make fun of him.

"Bro what is this...." Hart wrote.

Wagner tried to defend his painful assault on golf balls by firing back, "This was literally my worst try. I hit that thing over the net one time I swear."

Sure, Mo ...

As for the Hart-Wagner rivalry ... the two have been good for a TON of laughs over the last year -- remember when Josh got after Mo for his Michigan ring last season?!?

Clearly, not even a blockbuster trade out of Los Angeles can give these two some chill!!!

Lions QB Matt Stafford My 2-Year-Old Daughters Hate the Stinkin' Packers!!!

Published

Wanna see the most adorable NFL smack talk ever? Great!

Here are Matt Stafford's adorable 2-year-old twin daughters expressing their utmost DISDAIN for the Green Bay Packers ... before being distracted by a shiny red truck.

C'mon, this is SUPER CUTE!!

Of course, Matt's Detroit Lions are facing Aaron Rodgers and company tonight on "Monday Night Football" in a crucial NFL North match up.

Since Matt and the Lions are on the road ... the QB's wife, Kelly Stafford, made a cute pump-up video for dad showing their support for Detroit!

It's a big game for Detroit -- they're 2-1-1 and if they don't beat the Packers, it could already spell the end for their hopes of a division title since Green Bay is 4-1 and look strong right now.

As for Matt, he's having a pretty solid season, statistically, at the moment -- with 1,122 passing yards, 9 TDs and only 2 INTs with a QB rating of 102.6. Not bad!

Will it be good enough to beat Green Bay? The gamblers don't think so ... Detroit is a 3.5 point underdog.

Good luck!

Minnesota Timberwolves Hook Up Fans With Epic Seat Upgrade Get Out Of The Nosebleeds!!!

Published

Nobody likes seeing a bunch of open lower-level seats at an NBA game -- including the players -- so on Sunday the Minnesota Timberwolves decided to do something about it!!!

While the team was crushing Israel's Maccabi Haifa team at the Target Center, several players went to arena staff and asked them to go to the upper level to start upgrading fans, ASAP.

The fans were stoked ... and so many people started moving from the upper level to the good seats, the broadcasters shouted it out on the air.

"The players asked Target Center staff to have those fans who have been sitting in the 2nd level move down into the lower level for this 4th quarter," the announcers said.

"So, some of those fans up in the 220s, they're going to be able to enjoy the next 7.5 minutes with lower-level seats courtesy of a request from the Wolves players here."

Afterward, one of the fans personally thanked the team for the move.

"It was too strange," the guy wrote on Twitter ... "couldn't believe it was real didnt know it was a player request at the time. THANK YOU WOLVES PLAYERS"

Turns out, the gesture ended up being good karma ... the Wolves won, 131-101 -- and the team looked awesome.

Props for the cool move!!!

Carlos Correa Dedicates Homer to Teen Fan W/ Cancer 'I'll Be Pointing at You!!!'

Published

Carlos Correa's walk-off dinger to even up the ALCS on Sunday was bigger than baseball ... 'cause the MLB star dedicated the home run to one of his biggest fans battling cancer.

Jalen Garcia is a teenage Houston Astros super fan who has been bravely battling Osteosarcoma -- a type of bone cancer -- since he was 13, according to the Laredo Morning Times.

The 25-year-old shortstop and his fiancee, Daniella Rodriguez, met the big-time fan at a hospital in Houston on Friday ... and Correa was so moved by the visit, he wanted to do something extra special that Garcia would never forget.

"Next home run I hit will be for you," Correa promised Garcia. "When you see me pointing, I'll be pointing at you."

Fast forward to Sunday night against the Yankees ... when Correa stepped up to the plate in the 11th inning with the game tied at 2 ... and he hit it right outta the park!!!

As Correa rounded first base, he held true to his promise ... pointing out for his new friend, Jalen while all eyes were on him.

Correa commented on the awesome gesture on Monday ... saying "That was for you, Jalen. Keep fighting we are with you."

No word on how Jalen reacted ... but we're assuming the guy has to be PUMPED!!

Reggie Bush USC Ban Could End In 2020 ... School Official Says

Published | Updated

Great news for Reggie Bush ... his NCAA-issued ban requiring him to stay away from USC could expire in 2020, this according to USC's interim athletic director, Dave Roberts.

Roberts spelled it out to Ryan Young of TrojanSports.com ... saying a new NCAA rule "basically reduced any disassociation to a 10-year disassociation."

"The COI, which I sit on -- Committee on Infractions -- had recently put through a rule change. It's called an IOP -- internal operating procedure -- which basically reduced any disassociation to a 10-year disassociation, much like what was given to [former Michigan basketball star] Chris Webber," Roberts said.

"So in June of 2020, the disassociation for Bush will expire and it's going to be up to the university what the university wants to do."

The backstory ... back in 2010, the NCAA ordered USC to completely disassociate with Bush over Reggie's improper benefits scandal.

During Bush's college career, Reggie's family received improper benefits from 2 sports marketers who were hoping to sign him. As a result, the NCAA stripped USC of 14 wins, including the 2004 national championship. Bush was also stripped of his 2005 Heisman Trophy.

USC has previously said they want Reggie back on campus -- but they can't disobey the NCAA.

Reggie recently went back to the Coliseum in Los Angeles to cover a USC football game for FS1 and received an ovation from the crowd.

Also, several high-profile USC alum -- including LenDale White -- have called for the end of the Bush ban.

Padres Pitcher Jacob Nix Frantic 911 Call 'This Guy Is In My Doggy Door Right Now!!!'

Published | Updated
UPDATE

9:17 AM PT -- TMZ Sports has obtained the 911 call from the incident ... and a woman can be heard frantically telling dispatch, "This guy is in my doggy door right now!"

UPDATE

The woman, who called police while the alleged break-in was happening, gives a complete play-by-play breakdown of the altercation to dispatch ... saying her husband chased Nix and Cosgrove out of their yard with a taser.

UPDATE

"My husband just tased him!" she tells dispatch. "They just ran over the fence!"

UPDATE

You can hear in the audio, the woman says her husband is an officer ... and she says he ran after the baseball players with his "duty weapon."

UPDATE

For Nix's part ... in new police docs obtained by TMZ Sports, when he was asked why he went through the doggy door, he said, "I don't know, I was f**ked up."

UPDATE

As for Cosgrove ... in the docs, he says, "We weren't trying to rob anyone."

San Diego Padres pitcher Jacob Nix -- a top prospect in the organization -- was arrested on Sunday after allegedly breaking into an Arizona home by squeezing through the doggie door.

... And then, the dude allegedly got his ass whooped and tased by the homeowner, according to court documents.

23-year-old Nix -- a 3rd-round pick to the Padres in 2015 -- was allegedly walking through a fenced neighborhood in Peoria around 3:30 AM when he tried entering the home.

Nix allegedly tried entering through the doggie door, but was confronted by the homeowner who kicked him in the face and tased him ... before calling 911.

Nix ran away after the incident, but cops eventually caught up to him a few blocks away and arrested him for criminal trespass.

Tom Cosgrove -- also a pitcher in the Padres organization -- was with Nix during the incident and was also arrested for criminal trespass after admitting he entered a backyard.

When questioned by cops, Nix said he thought he was entering his own home -- although, he admitted his house doesn't have a doggie door.

The Padres released a statement on Thursday, saying, "We take this matter seriously and have been in contact with the Commissioner’s Office and local authorities."

"Due to the ongoing legal proceedings, we will not have any further comment at this time."

Nix made his MLB debut in 2018 and has posted a 2-5 record with a 7.02 ERA.

Flyers Mascot Gritty Hey, P.K. Subban ... I'm Gonna Steal Your Chick!!!

Published | Updated

Move over, Trey Songz ... there's a new Mr. Steal Your Girl in town -- Philadelphia Flyers' mascot, Gritty ... who just pulled up from half-court to shoot his shot at Lindsey Vonn!!

The equally lovable/scary orange thing(?!?!) went after New Jersey Devils star P.K. Subban during pregame warm-ups Wednesday night ... crashing the boards with a hilarious sign that read "Lindsey could do better" ... and a bunch of arrows pointing up to that unforgettable Gritty grin.

Of course, P.K. and the Olympic skier have been dating for a while now ... and the defenseman popped the question back in August.

The couple *was* planning to tie the knot ... but who knows if that's still the case now that Gritty's jumped into the picture.

P.K. seemed unfazed by the hilarious taunting ... but the Flyers still came away with the 4-0 win over the Devils.

Dennis Rodman Hey, Adam Silver ... I Can Make Peace W/ NBA & China

Published | Updated

The answer to the international crap storm of an incident between the NBA and China ... well, it's Dennis Rodman, according to, Dennis Rodman.

In case you somehow haven't heard ... China's relationship with the NBA is super strained after Rockets GM Daryl Morey expressed support for protesters in Hong Kong.

China cut bait with the NBA -- and that's a HUGE financial blow for the league -- but all may not be lost.

Enter, The Worm.

Rodman posted a video on Twitter Wednesday ... calling on the NBA to put him on a plane to China so he can smooth over the situation.

"Commissioner Adam Silver, I know a thing or two about diplomacy. Book me a ticket to Shanghai with you, Ambassador Rodman."

In the video, Dennis is holding 2 images ... a photo of him and President Trump, and another of him and Kim Jong-Un.

That's the thing ... if nothing else, Rodman does have personal relationships with some very powerful people.

Maybe it's just crazy enough to work???

But, probably not.

Atlanta Braves Remove Foam Tomahawks After Native American Pitcher's Criticism

Published | Updated

The Atlanta Braves did NOT pass out their traditional foam tomahawks prior to Game 5 of the NLDS on Wednesday ... after St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Ryan Helsley -- a member of the Cherokee tribe -- spoke out against the promotion.

FYI -- the Braves have passed out the foam tomahawks on each seat in the stadium for postseason games in the past ... and adopted the accompanying chant from Florida State when Deion Sanders played for Atlanta in the 1990s.

Helsley made it clear he wasn't a fan of the props -- or the "Tomahawk Chop" chant that comes with it -- earlier in the Cards' series with ATL ... saying it misrepresents Native Americans.

"[It] just depicts them in this kind of caveman-type people way who aren't intellectual," Helsley told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Jon Gruden and Derek Carr Go to Bat For Vontaze Burfict ... During Appeal Meeting

Published
UPDATE

2:18 PM PT -- Gruden and Carr tried their best ... but they weren't able to get their captain back. The NFL just announced Burfict's suspension has been upheld.

UPDATE

See ya next year, Vontaze.

Oakland Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict had support from his coach and star QB during his appeal of a season-ending suspension … with Jon Gruden and Derek Carr vouching for the controversial player.

Burfict was banned from the league for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season after his violent helmet-to-helmet hit on Colts tight end Jack Doyle during their Week 4 match-up.

The 29-year-old spoke with league officials for more than an hour on Wednesday ... in an attempt to get back sooner than next season.

According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, the Raiders pointed out that despite Burfict's violent history, he hadn’t been flagged in over 190 plays ... until the one against Doyle.

Burfict himself reportedly broke down the play in question, explaining why the hit happened and emphasizing that he was not trying to injure Doyle.

The Raiders also pointed out that Burfict has been trying to change his playing style and was named team captain for his leadership.

Carr praised Burfict last week, saying, “He’s one of the most genuine, awesome people I’ve been around. He’s a great teammate. He works his tail off and he’s a great guy.”

The NFL seemed adamant to make an example out of Burfict, handing him the longest suspension for an individual play in league history.
