'SNL' alum Chris Redd is smiling through the pain after being attacked in New York City ... his nose is stitched up and his eyes are swollen and bruised.

TMZ obtained these photos of the injuries Chris sustained when he was ambushed by a man with brass knuckles this week while heading into the Comedy Cellar.

As you can see, the gash on Chris' nose has been stitched up ... and he has two black eyes. But the comedian's body is slowly on the mend.

We're told regardless of the horrible situation Chris finds himself in, he's feeling very happy and fortunate.

TMZ broke the story ... Chris was rushed to the hospital after the attack and now police are combing over surveillance footage in the hopes of identifying the perpetrators.

Chris also had his Greg Yuna chain snatched off in the ambush, but he was able to recover the bling, although it was in pieces. Still, the chain can be easily restored.

Nancy Pelosi Devastated By Vicious Attack On Husband ... But His Condition's Improving

Published | Updated

Nancy Pelosi says she's "heartbroken and traumatized" by the vicious attack on her husband that landed him in the hospital with a shattered skull ... it seems, thankfully, he's gonna pull through.

The House Speaker issued her first public statement about the assault, highlighting that the hammer-wielding assailant was after her -- not her 82-year-old husband Paul -- but she was in D.C. at the time of the attack.

Nancy wrote ... "a violent man broke into our family home, demanded to confront me and brutally attacked my husband Paul. Our children, our grandchildren and I are heartbroken and traumatized by the life-threatening attack on our Pop. We are grateful for the quick response of law enforcement and emergency services, and for the life-saving medical care he is receiving."

Thanking her fellow members of Congress, Nancy stated their "prayers and warm wishes" have helped Paul progress in his recovery as his condition improves. She ended by quoting scripture from the Book of Isaiah.

As we reported ... Paul was violently attacked inside his family's San Francisco townhouse early Friday morning after David DePape forced his way inside through a back door, brandishing the hammer.

DISPATCH AUDIO

Paul surreptitiously called 911 from his cell phone and kept the line open so the operator could hear him talking in code to DePape while in clear distress.

Sensing something was wrong, the operator quickly phoned police dispatch and asked for a higher-priority response to the scene.

Within minutes, SFPD officers got to the townhouse only to find Paul and DePape fighting over the hammer. DePape allegedly seized control of the weapon and bludgeoned Paul, fracturing his skull.

Cops tackled DePape, disarmed him and placed him under arrest. DePape was booked into the San Francisco County Jail for burglary, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and several other felonies.

Police have not released a motive for the attack.

Seoul, South Korea At Least 120 Dead After Crowd Surge ... In Itaewon Gathering

Published | Updated
UPDATE

12:02 PM PT -- South Korean officials have gone on record to say at least 120 are dead so far from the crowd surge in Itaewon.

Multiple people are feared dead after dozens of lifeless bodies required CPR in South Korea Saturday during what appears to be a mass gathering that turned into a crowd surge.

Several videos and photos are circulating on social media right now showing countless people laid out on the floor in the streets of Itaewon -- a popular neighborhood in Seoul -- and receiving chest compressions from both first responders and bystanders alike.

The images are scary ... as a lot of these folks don't seem to have any signs of consciousness -- and you can tell how frantic of a scene it is by the reaction.

Reports on the ground say upwards of 100 people were injured total -- with a significant amount purportedly having gone into cardiac arrest as well. There are signs multiple fatalities could result from this -- some photos show cops putting tarps over what seem to be dead bodies ... but there's no official count of lives beyond just 2, per NYT.

The reason all these people congregated here is because it's one of the biggest Halloween get-togethers there in Seoul -- reports say tens of thousands of people had packed into the relatively tight alleyways, which some speculate likely triggered a stampede of some sort.

One rumor floating around -- which hasn't been substantiated -- is that the crowd crush was caused by folks rushing toward a bar there in Itaewon after word of a celeb sighting ... although it's unclear who exactly it might've been, if anyone.

S. Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has dispatched emergency services to Seoul, and the mayor is on his way back from an international trip to survey the damage and get briefed.

DISPATCH AUDIO

Paul Pelosi saved his own life with the help of a quick-thinking 911 operator as he was savagely attacked in his San Francisco townhouse early Friday morning.

The 82-year-old husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi surreptitiously called 911 from his cell phone after David Depape allegedly broke into the residence through a back door and confronted Paul with a hammer.

Paul reportedly kept his cool and spoke in code so he wouldn't aggravate Depape. He also left the phone line open so the 911 operator could hear that his life was in danger as he rattled off 3 questions..."What's going on? Why are you here? What are you doing to me?"

The operator heard Paul in distress and quickly called police dispatch with an emergency message ... "He states there is a male in the home and that he is going to wait for his wife. He stated that he doesn't know who the male is but that his name is David and that he is a friend. He sounded somewhat confused."

San Francisco District Attorney Brook Jenkins told CNN police responded to the scene within 2 minutes ... "It was thanks to Mr. Pelosi having the ability to make that call" and the "instincts of that dispatcher to realize something was wrong'" that police got there so fast.

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott also gave props to the 911 operator, noting she treated the call as an "emergency" instead of a less urgent "welfare-check" ... "I think this was life-saving."

Scott said Paul and Depape were fighting over the hammer when cops first arrived at the townhouse. Depape was able to seize control of the hammer and allegedly clubbed Paul in the head. At one point, Depape reportedly yelled, "Where's Nancy?"

PROVIDING MORE DETAILS

Police sprang into action, tackling Depape, disarming him and taking him into custody. Depape was charged with attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse and burglary.

Investigators have not released a motive, although information publicly available on Depape's background has provided some clues. Depape was reportedly a former nudist from British Columbia with a history of drug abuse. He has also gone online to post antisemitic rants, racial epithets and crazed COVID conspiracy theories.

As for Paul, he underwent surgery for a skull fracture at the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

IN PURSUIT OF PILLS

Matthew Perry revealed the depth of his addiction in an interview Friday night, and it was shocking.

Perry, who told Diane Sawyer during the run of "Friends" he would sometimes pop 55 Vicodin pills a day, said in real life he traded out friends for drug dealers who helped fuel his habit.

Matthew said he would sometimes go to realtor open houses, beeline it for the bathroom and rummage through medicine cabinets looking for pills. He felt safe, because, as he said, "I think they thought, 'Well, there's no way that Chandler came in and stole from us.'"

You may recall ... during the "Friends" reunion show earlier this year, Perry seemed to slur his words and seemed out of it.  Matthew said he had just had major dental surgery ... one of many surgeries that had some connection to his drug use.

The great news ... Matthew is in a good place now -- clean and sober, and his new book has a clear purpose ... to let people read about his journey and the tools he's found to keep his addiction in check.

HARD TO WATCH

Matthew Perry was brought to tears looking back at how his addiction to pills and alcohol caused his weight to fluctuate ... and he feels sorry for his former self.

The "Friends" star got super emotional in his ABC special with Diane Sawyer, crying when they played a clip of him on the sitcom looking super skinny.

Matthew estimates he was 155 lbs. in the clip and he says it illustrates the toll his addiction to pills took on his body ... he says the drugs squashed his appetite and he lost a ton of weight to the point where it was unhealthy.

MP told Diane his weight dipped as low as 128 lbs and says, at the time, he was "out of control" and didn't know what was going on.

Matthew says he also gained weight when he was drinking heavily ... and looking back he feels sorry for himself in those moments. ABC plays clips of Matthew on "Friends" and it's clear how much his weight was changing from season to season while he was in the throes of addiction.

As we reported ... Matthew also opened up about how he was able to break the cycle of addiction after 6,000 AA meetings and 15 stints at rehab facilities.

Will Smith On Oscars Slap ... Floyd Mayweather Checked On Me 10 Days Straight

Published | Updated

Will Smith was in a dark place after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, but he had a champion in his corner -- the actor says Floyd Mayweather called him every day for 10-straight days after the incident, just to make sure he was doing okay.

Smith made the revelation during a private screening of his new "Emancipation" movie at The London hotel ... and with Floyd in attendance, he took a moment to praise TBE for being there for him, even though they weren't exactly best buds at the time.

"I want to say something also about Floyd," Smith said in video obtained by TMZ Sports. "So, we've met each other, we've seen each other around, but we weren't like, friends."

"And, the day after the Oscars, for 10 days he called me every day," Smith added. "And, he was like, 'Ay, you know you the champ, right? You good? You know you the champ, right? I want you to hear my voice say it,'"

"That was every day he called me ... and it's like, that's my dude forever right there."

'I TARNISHED YOUR MOMENT'

Smith has rarely spoken about the slapping incident -- he only released an apology video back in July -- so to hear him go into detail about the days following the incident is incredibly rare.

As for the film, Mayweather loved it.

“Emancipation captures an important time in history. The movie has me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire film,” Floyd tells us.

Producer Deon Taylor, Floyd's partner on his upcoming docuseries, "The GOAT," also spoke at the screening. Jona Rechnitz and James McNair, part of the production team, were also in the house for the viewing.

"Watching Emancipation film last night - the film was nothing short of amazing! The film touched so many parts of me as a black man in America… Will Smith is brilliant!! Every frame was Art!!!!!," Deon says of the movie.

Jerry Lee Lewis Dead at 87

Rock 'n' roll icon, Jerry Lee Lewis has died ... TMZ has confirmed.

The "Great Balls of Fire" singer's team released a statement Friday, saying, "Lewis, perhaps the last true, great icon of the birth of rock ‘n’ roll, whose marriage of blues, gospel, country, honky-tonk and raw, pounding stage performances so threatened a young Elvis Presley that it made him cry, has died."

A piano-playing legend, Jerry Lee is considered one of the first true rock 'n' roll musicians ... rising to fame way back in 1957 with his first hit, "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On."

Ever the showman, Jerry Lee was known to light his piano on fire to close out a show ... and he was nicknamed "The Killer" for the way he knocked out audiences.

Jerry Lee was born in Ferriday, Louisiana, and when he was 9 years old he taught himself to play piano. His father mortgaged the family farm to buy Jerry Lee his first piano when he was 10, and when he was 14 he had his first public performance at a local car dealership.

JL quit school to focus on piano and he wound up in Memphis, where he signed with Sun Studios in 1956 ... jamming out with Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash before releasing his first single and becoming a star himself.

THE LAST TIME WE SAW HIM ...

Jerry Lee's second single was "Great Balls of Fire" ... it was released in December 1957 and is a staple of pop culture, being featured in movies like "Top Gun" and the recent sequel.

Dennis Quaid played Jerry in the "Great Balls of Fire!" movie about his life.

The first person inducted into the first class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, Jerry Lee played big gigs well into his '80s ... and in 2013 he opened Jerry Lee Lewis' Café & Honky Tonk on historic Beale Street in Memphis.

He was just inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this year, but was unable to attend the ceremony because he was ill with the flu. Kris Kristofferson accepted the award for Jerry, and drove it to him to present it in person.

Jerry Lee was 87.

Anderson Silva Cleared to Fight Jake Paul After 'Knockout' Scandal ... Boxing Commission Says

Published

Anderson Silva's fight with Jake Paul is still on -- the MMA legend has been cleared to compete in the boxing match, an Arizona athletic commission ruled Thursday night.

The big last-minute meeting was called after the website MMA Weekly posted an interview with Silva ... where the 47-year-old MMA G.O.A.T. admitted to being "knocked out" twice during a training session before the fight.

Anderson, who speaks English as a second language, quickly issued a statement saying he inadvertently used "knockout" instead of "knockdown." He also revealed the interview was almost 2 weeks old, despite just being released this week.

The Commission could've pulled Silva's license at any time ... so the meeting was a huge deal not just for Anderson.

Chairman Scott Fletcher said he was "completely comfortable" letting Silva fight ... after coming away satisfied with how well Anderson spoke when answering questions.

Commissioner Dr. Ara Feinstein, who's also a surgeon and ringside physician, reviewed Silva's neurological report and MRI, and saw no issues with the results.

"I was NEVER knocked out in sparring," Silva told us after the scandal broke, continuing ... "I misspoke in that interview as I sometimes do when interviewing in English and exaggerated the normal back-and-forth action that occurs in sparring."

"This sparring session I referenced was in early September. The interview with MMA Weekly was done on Sept. 13 and, for some reason, just released this week. So, it wasn't recent."

Meanwhile, Paul didn't seem phased by the meeting, saying he had "no concern" Silva would be banned from fighting this Saturday on Showtime PPV.

Officers then tackled DePape, and both men ended up needing medical treatment. DePape's been charged with attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse and burglary.

DePape's social media show he's posted about the election being stolen, false claims about COVID vaccine dangers and criticizing the conviction of Derek Chauvin for George Floyd's murder.

Video from the Pelosi house shows a smashed back window -- presumably how the man made his way inside.

UPDATE

Rep. Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul, is hospitalized after a hammer-wielding attacker allegedly broke into the Pelosi home.

The incident went down Friday morning in San Francisco, according to Speaker Pelosi's spokesman, who says the alleged attacker "violently assaulted Mr. Pelosi" after breaking into the house. It's unclear exactly what Paul's injuries are, but he had to be rushed to a hospital.

The suspect did not escape.

Pelosi's spokesman says, "The Assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation." He adds that Paul is still in the hospital for treatment, and is "expected to make a full recovery."

CNN first reported the alleged attacker used a hammer during the assault.

Speaker Pelosi wasn't in the home during the incident, and we don't know if this was a targeted attack.

FAILING THE TEST

It's been a rough couple of months for Paul -- he pled guilty to DUI in August ... receiving a sentence of 3 years probation and 5 days jail time, with 4 days of credit for time served.

As we reported, somebody left Rep. Pelosi a very disturbing message at her SF home back in 2021 ... spray-painting "Cancel Rent!" and "We Want Everything" in big black letters on her door. Also, what looks like a pig's head and fake blood were also staged in front of her garage.

So, the Pelosi home, at least, has been a target in the past.

Arsenal's Pablo Marí Undergoes Surgery After Knife Attack ... Procedure 'Went Well'

Published

Arsenal defender Pablo Marí underwent surgery on his back on Friday to fix injuries suffered in a horrifying knife attack ... but, thankfully, his team says he's now doing well.

A.C. Monza -- the club for which Pablo is playing while on loan for Arsenal -- said the procedure entailed repairing two torn muscles. They added, "the operation went well."

The club also said the 29-year-old will need to remain in the hospital this weekend ... and is expected to be out of action for two months as he recovers.

As we previously reported, Marí was one of six people who were stabbed in a terrifying attack at an Italian supermarket on Thursday.

According to the Associated Press, Pablo told Monza CEO Adriano Galliani that he was fortunate to survive, given the wounds he sustained during the incident.

"He told me he had ‘suerte’ [luck], because, 'Today I saw someone else die,'" Galliani said while he visited Pablo in the hospital.

"He had his child in a cart and his wife next to him. He was probably saved by his height. He was hit in the back, and then he saw this delinquent stab someone in the throat."

Authorities say they arrested a 46-year-old man over the attack. He's still currently in police custody.

Monza is slated to host Bologna in Series A on Monday ... but Galliani has asked for the match to be postponed as the club is still "in shock" at what happened.

'SNL' STAR CHRIS REDD NYC Attacker Used Brass Knuckles

Published | Updated

The attacker who clocked 'SNL' alum Chris Redd in the face was wearing brass knuckles ... and there were two men involved in Wednesday's brazen New York City attack.

Sources connected to Chris tell TMZ ...  the attack left Chris with two black eyes and a huge gash on his nose, which required stitches. He was hospitalized after the attack and released shortly thereafter.

As TMZ reported ... both men were dressed as security guards and had masks covering their faces. We're told the attacker who approached Chris and hit him with brass knuckles was a heavyset man ... the other man was standing across the street, appearing to case the area.

Chris, we're told, was not able to identify anything about either suspect. Nevertheless, we're told he's meeting with cops who've gathered surveillance footage, with the hope of getting a lead -- if not from the images of the 2 men, possibly from their method of escape, be it on foot or in a vehicle.

Surveillance video could be key to cracking the case. Even if the 2 assailants ran for blocks, cops could piece together their movements with various surveillance cams.

You may recall ... in the Jussie Smollett case, cops used surveillance videos to track down the Osundairo brothers, who ran from the scene for blocks and then hopped in an Uber.

TMZ broke the story ... Chris had his Greg Yuna chain snatched off in the attack, but he was able to recover the bling, although it was in pieces. It can be easily restored.

Our sources say the incident rocked Chris to the core ... he lived a very normal life, but now he's working on having security around him moving forward.

PGA Tour's Grayson Murray Injured in Horrific Scooter Accident ... Needed 50 Stitches

Published | Updated

Pro golfer Grayson Murray was involved in a bloody scooter accident in Bermuda this week ... which knocked him unconscious and forced him to withdraw from a PGA Tour event.

Murray -- who was set to play in the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship -- was traveling back to his hotel via scooter at around 4 PM when the incident occurred, per VCP Golf.

Murray was turning around a bend in the road when he steered near the center line. Unfortunately for the golfer, a car coming in the opposite direction was also moving near the center, which resulted in the 29-year-old colliding with the front corner of the vehicle -- knocking him off his ride and rolling several feet.

Grayson's caddie, Doug Schwimmer, was traveling behind him on scooter and witnessed the horrific accident ... but could not intervene because he was going too quickly to stop.

Schwimmer experienced road rash after falling off his scooter ... but was not transported to the hospital.

Murray, meanwhile, was left unconscious and needed 50 stitches (25 on his face) to close his wounds ... but did not suffer any broken bones.

While parts of the ordeal remain foggy for Murray, he does remember telling witnesses that his knee was in a lot of pain.

Murray refused to blame anyone for the accident ... saying, "Riding on the opposite side of the road is already confusing, and the roads in Bermuda are narrow and sketchy."

FYI -- Murray and his caddie were riding scooters because tourists in the area are prohibited from renting cars.

"Honestly, I’m pretty fortunate because the helmet saved me," Murray told Golfweek. "If it wasn’t for my knee and stitches in my left hand, I would try to play."

Murray posted a photo on Instagram on Thursday, making the thumbs-up gesture ... and informing everyone that he was heading home.

"Thank you to the PGA tour staff for all the help the last couple days and all the well wishes I got from players/caddies and y'all. Much love."

Get well soon, Grayson.

Arsenal defender Pablo Marí was reportedly stabbed during a terrifying knife attack on Thursday afternoon ... and he's now recovering in an Italian hospital.

Multiple reports say the 29-year-old -- who's currently playing for A.C. Monza while on loan from Arsenal -- was one of six people who were slashed by a man at around 5:30 p.m. at a shopping center in Milan.

The reports say authorities ID'ed the knifeman as a 46-year-old who is believed to have grabbed the blade from the shelves of a store before lunging at passersby. He's since been arrested, according to the reports, and is still in police custody.

Mari, meanwhile, was rushed to a nearby medical facility following the incident ... but The Athletic reported he's not thought to be seriously injured.

Marí signed a permanent deal with Arsenal in 2020 -- and played sparingly with the club before joining Udinese and Monza this year while out on loan.

Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes Bros Who Pray Together ... Joint Church Visit After Ending Tours

Published | Updated

Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes are takin' each other to church as they both take self-described mental health breaks ... which upended their individual tours.

The pop singers, who have a ton in common, worshipped together Wednesday night at Churchome in Bev Hills. It's unclear if they sang inside -- Justin has in the past -- but we're sure there wouldn't be any pushback from the congregation if they did.

After the church service wrapped up, Shawn hopped into Justin's ride and they left the church together.

As we've reported ... Shawn canceled his world tour back in July, telling fans "It has become more clear that I need to take the time I've never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger."

JB did the same a few months later ... announcing he was postponing his Justice World Tour and saying, "The exhaustion overtook me and I realize that I need to make my health the priority right now."

Both 20-something Canadian pop stars seem to be leaning into their faith to get 'em through this rough patch. We know their fans are praying they get well, and return to the road when they're ready.

FYI -- Hailey Bieber was absent from church Wednesday... instead, she was glammin' it up at a Tiffany event nearby.

'SNL' Star Chris Redd Attacked By Maniac In NYC ... Rushed To Hospital

Witnesses tell TMZ ... Chris' Greg Yuna chain was snatched off. It's a chain where all the links come apart, so it fell apart on the street when the culprit snatched it. The suspect ran away and the chain was recovered by Chris.

Witnesses also say police took photos of Chris' injuries, which include a deep cut on his nose.

'SNL' alum Chris Redd was in no laughing mood in NYC Wednesday night ... the comedian got slugged in the face by some random dude and was rushed to the hospital, but, thankfully, he's gonna be OK!!!

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Chris drove up to the Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village around 9:40 PM and got out of a vehicle when all hell broke loose.

We're told a man, apparently wearing a security guard uniform, ran up to Chris and clocked him in the face, bloodying his nose.

Cops were on patrol in the area and quickly responded to the scene, but the assailant had already run off. Police don't know the motive for the alleged assault.

People gathered around to assist Chris -- as you see in video obtained by TMZ. Blood was on the sidewalk and several steps leading down to the Comedy Cellar. Chris was scheduled to perform there Wednesday night.

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, where he was treated and released.

TMZ reported last month ... Chris started dating former 'SNL' costar Kenan Thompson's estranged wife, Christina Evangeline.
