Margot Robbie, Nicholas Braun, Charlotte Stoudt, Mimi Leder, Jennifer Aniston, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Kristin Hahn, Tom Holland, Billie Eilish, Oprah, Charles Melton, Julianne Moore y Jesse Plemmons.

Chelsea Handler Takes A Dig At Ex-BF Jo Koy ... For Lackluster Golden Globes Performance

MY WRITERS WROTE IT

Chelsea Handler couldn't resist taking a dig at her ex-boyfriend Jo Koy during Sunday's Critics Choice Awards in L.A. for his much-criticized Golden Globes performance.

Chelsea was hosting the CCA event onstage at the Santa Monica Airport's Barker Hangar last evening when she gave Jo a shot as she served up jokes during her opening monologue.

The comedian set it up like this ... "Unfortunately, Martin Scorsese isn’t here tonight, but that’s not going to stop me from letting everyone in this room know that I would toss him around like a little Italian meatball." The crowd chuckled.

Then Chelsea hit the punch line ... "Thank you for laughing at that. My writers wrote it."

Ouch, Jo! That must have hurt, especially from an ex! Jo, as you know, got roasted in the press and on social media after his jokes fell flat as host of the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month.

Jo's wisecracks about the film, "Barbie," were met with groans and, when he poked fun at Taylor Swift, she shot him an icy look.

IF LOOKS COULD KILL

Sensing he was going down in flames, Jo tried to blame his writers for his bad jokes, telling the GG audience, “Some [jokes] I wrote, some other people wrote. Yes, I got the gig 10 days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Yo, shut up. You’re kidding me, right?”

He added, “Slow down, I wrote some of these and they are the ones you are laughing at.”

Last week, Jo tried to clean up his remarks during an LA Times interview, admitting it was a "rookie move" to fault his writers.

Now we'll have to see if Jo responds to Chelsea's jab.

Stay tuned.

Sarah Snook 'Succession' Star Belittled Early In Career

Published | Updated

Sarah Snook is flying high these days as an awards darling — but she’s had to take some slings and arrows along by the way … according to the woman herself.

The actress -- who just won her second GG as Siobhan Roy in "Succession" --revealed in a new interview with The Times a couple times where she was berated for her appearance ... by other powerful industry pros.

As SS tells it, she landed a role early in her career ... an exciting moment for a struggling young actress that quickly took a turn when a casting director said straight to her face they didn't want to hire her because she was a "nobody."

The casting director explained she only got the job because the writer and director liked her, and she needed to change nearly everything about her appearance ... from whitening her teeth and darkening her hair to losing weight.

A terrible moment that didn't exist in a vacuum ... Snook says after she took the part, agreeing to intense demands regarding appearance she decided to have "the tiniest bit of chocolate cake" -- and all hell broke loose.

A producer started telling her off in front of the cast and crew, she explains, "And all the while I am dying inside. The infantilizing of women, to not be able to make their own decisions, why would we do that to women?”

These sorts of comments and criticisms have been hurled at actors for years ... in 2017 Carey Mulligan talked about feeling "belittled" on film sets while Rose McGowan said she was told she'd only get parts if men found her attractive the following year.

Bottom line ... this sort of bullying isn't new to Hollywood by any means -- and it just makes Snook's recent Golden Globes win even that more impressive.

Now, if a producer or casting director criticizes Sarah's appearance again ... she can always point them to her trophy case 🏆.

Lena Waithe Latest Celeb Burglary Victim ... Thieves Take $200k in Jewelry

Published

Lena Waithe is the latest celeb to fall victim to smash-and-grab burglars ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... a group of burglars smashed a window to the actress/comedian's Los Angeles-area home last week while she was out of town.

Our sources say the thieves made off with $200k worth of jewelry. One of Lena's staff discovered the break-in after coming to the home the following day and finding the front door unlocked.

Lena, best known as Denise from "Master of None" and creator of "The Chi," isn't alone ... several other stars have fallen victim to similar crimes in the past couple months.

Burglars in ski masks smashed one of Keanu Reeves' windows and entered his home in early December, and "Entourage" star Kevin Connolly's house was given similar treatment on Christmas Eve.

Model Abigail Ratchford might've endured the most terrifying situation of all ... actually being in the upstairs bedroom when someone broke in.

Scary time to be a celeb in L.A.

'Honeymooners' Star Joyce Randolph Dead at 99 Played Ed Norton's Wife, Trixie

Published | Updated

Joyce Randolph, who played Trixie Norton on "The Honeymooners," has died ... TMZ has learned.

Her son tells TMZ ... Joyce passed Saturday at her home in New York City. We're told she died in her sleep. She had been suffering from the effects of old age ... unable to walk. She was in hospice care at the time of her death.

Joyce played the wife of Ed Norton, played by Art Carney. They were the best friends and neighbors of Ralph Kramden, who was played by Jackie Gleason, and Audrey Meadows, who played the long-suffering Alice. Ralph, a bus driver, would often get angry at his wife and say, "To the moon, Alice," with fists clenched. That would obviously never be on TV today.

"The Honeymooners" is considered one of the great comedies of all time. The crazy thing ... they only shot 39 episodes, but it endures to this very day.

The show debuted on CBS in 1955. It was on only one season. It was a big hit ... it was the number 2 show, but dropped to 19 and was cancelled.

Joyce snagged the role after Jackie saw her on a chewing gum commercial.

There was a reboot and other projects bringing characters from the show back, but the OG is what everyone remembers.

Joyce was the last surviving member of the main cast.

She leaves behind her son, Randy. He says his mother will be cremated. He asks in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the Entertainment Community Fund.

Joyce was 99. RIP

CARMEN ELECTRA HERE'S WHY I LEGALLY CHANGED MY NAME!!!

Published

Carmen Electra made a massive life change this past week -- filing to ditch her birth name to formally go by her long-known stage name ... and now we know exactly why.

Sources close to the "Baywatch" star tell TMZ ... there's really no big reason behind the decision -- we're told it's just something she's been thinking about for a while and finally took the plunge, since there's no better time than the New Year to start fresh.

We should note, she hasn't gone by her birth name -- Tara Leigh Patrick -- in decades.

TMZ obtained the legal docs earlier this week ... revealing she wants to formally change her name to "Carmen Electra" ... so looks like this is officially goodbye to Tara! It's also just formalizing what everyone has known her as for decades now.

Fun fact -- CE didn't come up with the zippy stage name herself -- it was actually birthed as a result of the late icon, Prince ... who bestowed the name upon her when she auditioned to be part of an all-girl group he was assembling in the early '90s.

Unfortunately, she didn't make the cut ... but she went on to make a splash on TV and elsewhere, and she kept the cool moniker for herself.

Also ... she never assumed the names of her hubbies while she was married, so her becoming Carmen Electra in court is just a no-brainer. No better time for change than the present!

TMZ TV Recap Zendaya Rumors, Hart Oscars, Goff The Best Clips This Week!!!

Published | Updated

TMZ has posted a lot of stories this week -- but some stood out to us on the TV side of things -- and we thought we'd let people have a second look at a few of our biggest topics.

One of the buzzier things we tackled was the Zendaya/Tom Holland breakup rumors that were swirling for a couple weeks -- when she unfollowed literally everybody on her Instagram account ... including her British boyfriend, who was still following her.

On "TMZ Live," we dove right into this ... piecing together all the clues/red flags that had people worried that Zen and Tom might, perhaps, be over and done with. TH himself squashed it all on Friday, but there was an interesting maze of intel leading up to that.

Anyway ... on "TMZ on TV' side, we also talked Kevin Hart and his renewed disavowal of ever wanting to host the Oscars -- this after infamously missing out a few years ago.

He was defending Jo Koy's Globes job ... but it felt like he might still have some sour grapes about the past -- and our office had a good time debating how sincere KH really is.

Finally on the "TMZ Sports" side ... we discussed this proposed jersey ban as Matthew Stafford heads back to Detroit to take on the Lions -- this as the new QB of the Los Angeles Rams.

Robert Downey Jr. Defends His Role in 'Tropic Thunder' ... Via 'All in the Family'

Published | Updated

LOOKING BACK

Robert Downey Jr. isn't apologizing for his controversial role in "Tropic Thunder" ... and he's using another polarizing show from back in the day to make a nuanced point.

The actor -- who just won a Golden Globe for his part in "Oppenheimer" last weekend -- recently went on the "Literally! with Rob Lowe" podcast to defend the work he did in the '08 film, in which he plays a method actor playing a Black man ... in full blackface.

RDJ says people should look beyond the surface of his performance -- where he was playing a caricature of a person -- and consider the larger message the film was trying to convey about his character ... namely, highlighting tropes that had been perpetuated for years.

Interestingly enough, he says the show 'All in the Family' is a good example of this -- telling a quick anecdote about attending Norman Lear's shiva ... and them playing a disclaimer before running a clip from his famous sitcom. Listen -- RDJ's telling us all something here.

The disclaimer read, "The program you are about to see is ‘All in the Family.’ It seeks to throw a humorous spotlight on our frailties, prejudices, and concerns. By making them a source of laughter, we hope to show -- in a mature fashion -- just how absurd they are."

Downey says there used to be an understanding between creators and audiences about this type of stuff, and it didn't have to be handled with kid gloves the way it does nowadays.

Robert's biggest issue is that he says the modern world is experiencing a "clickbait addiction to grievance" ... basically saying it's so easy to get mad at jokes and film choices without looking at the greater context, or the bigger-picture message. Sadly, times have changed.

Bottom line here ... he stands by starring in 'Tropic Thunder' -- even all these years later.

Jo Koy Calls Globes Crowd 'Marshamallows' ... In 1st Stand-Up Since Show

Published | Updated

Jo Koy is still reflecting on his poorly-received Golden Globes hosting gig -- calling the star-studded crowd a bunch of softies ... this as he gets back to regular routine.

Variety sent one of their reporters to St. Louis Friday -- where Jo was scheduled to perform ... marking his first regular stand-up set since the big show. According to the outlet, he immediately dove into the topic after arriving late due to bad weather.

He got a warm welcome from the crowd, and Jo reportedly said ... "Holy s***, right? This big hug that you gave me is all I need, swear to god. F***ing whirlwind, goddamn."

JK then went on to trash the Globes audience -- which, BTW, were nothing but a bunch of celebs/industry people -- by saying this ... "Lot a marshmallows, man. They’re delicious, but goddamn, they’re soft. I just come from a different time. I see the changes that are happening. I get it, but goddamn, can we f***ing laugh at ourselves?"

010824_taylor_swift_globes_kal 01/07/24
IF LOOKS COULD KILL

Variety says the crowd on hand for Jo last night ate all this up ... cheering him on and one person even apparently yelling "F*** 'em!" in support of Jo.

Jo then reportedly said this about the GG broadcast ... "Koy said, 'I got a feeling none of you motherf***ers watched it, and I’m kinda happy. Oh my god. It feels good to live in this country. We get to say what we want to say. Don’t be apologetic about it at all. Be able to…speak your mind.'"

Like we mentioned ... Jo's opening monologue got torn to shreds on a number of different fronts -- with many accusing him of sexism/misogyny ... and just terrible material generally.

He's been apologizing/trying to clarify why it was so bad .. now, he's blaming oversensitivity.
