Taylor Swift 'Love Story' Re-Recording Off to a Great Start Numbers-Wise

Taylor Swift's experiment with her old songs is proving to be fruitful out of the gate -- the early numbers are in for the first song of the big batch ahead of her, and they're not too shabby.

Billboard documented the single-day download and radio play data that has come in since Taylor released "Love Story (Taylor's Version)" on Friday ... the initial, re-recorded mega-hit track of hers in what could be a long line of re-releases she's vowed to distribute anew.

Based on the figures, it's doing alright ... especially compared to the OG on the same day (Feb. 12, 2021). Billboard reports MRC Data for Feb. 12 show Taylor's new version got downloaded some 10,000 times, compared to just 200 downloads for the 2008 track.

There's also a radio play element here that has yet to bear out fully -- Billboard notes that Taylor's new 'Love Story' (which sounds virtually identical to the old one) has not gotten a big push by her team for it to be played on radio ... but a handful of stations across the country did blast it on Friday -- and even those numbers are greater than the OG's same-day stats.

"Love Story (Taylor's Version)" got 144 radio plays among 89 stations on Friday, compared to the original ... which got just 67 plays on Friday. 2008's "Love Story" is still king (for now) -- as we know, it sky-rocketed in the charts over time -- so Tay-Tay's got a ways to go before her new take comes close. Still, pretty promising early signs of what's to come.

Remember, Taylor's doing this to stick it to Scooter Braun and other execs who have come to control her catalog since she left Big Machine Records and settled at UMG. She wasn't able to get the rights to her masters, and decided she'd reclaim them by re-recording all her hits.

The catalog is now in the hands of a private equity group -- and Scooter made a bundle in the sale -- but TS is still moving forward. She teased the refreshed 'Love Story' in a Match.com commercial featuring Ryan Reynolds, and there was hardly a discernible difference ... leading many to believe her other re-recordings will follow suit.

The full streaming numbers for week 1 of "Love Story (Taylor's Version)" are set to come out next week. We'll be watching ... 👀

Donald Trump Acquitted in 2nd Impeachment Trial McConnell Blasts Him Postmortem

UPDATE

1:36 PM PT -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell just went scorched earth on former President Trump, saying he WAS responsible for the U.S. Capitol riot and abandoned his duties as POTUS ... but defended his decision to vote not guilty, all over what he considers a technicality in the process.

UPDATE

McConnell addressed the Senate floor after the votes were cast, and said what Trump had done on Jan 6. was disgraceful and a big part of why what happened did. So why didn't he vote to convict then??? In McConnell's eyes, he (and the Senate at large) didn't have the constitutional power to do so ... and he wasn't about to buck that restriction just to send a message.

UPDATE
IT'S NOT OVER YET...
C-SPAN2
UPDATE

He argued that the Constitution does not allow for former U.S. officers (like ex-presidents) to be convicted by the U.S. Senate -- and because of that, Trump doesn't qualify for punishment after the fact. That interpretation of the Constitution is up for debate, but his mind was made up ... as were the minds of several other GOP Senators, it seems.

UPDATE

There's also been chatter that McConnell could've called the trial sooner (before Trump left office) as he was in control of the schedule at the time. McConnell addressed that too ... only saying that it was virtually impossible to get it started any sooner than they did.

UPDATE

One last thing ... McConnell seemed to allude to the idea that Trump could still face punishment for Jan. 6 -- but that it would have to happen outside of Congress. He discussed possible criminal prosecution and/or civil litigation, and suggested those would be better vehicles and venues for pursuing justice against Trump

Donald Trump will not have to answer for the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol -- he's been acquitted during his latest impeachment trial ... and thus, can run for federal office again.

The final vote came in Saturday, with a tally of 57 guilty votes to 43 not guilty votes for one article of impeachment -- namely, inciting an insurrection against the U.S. government. There needed to be a 2/3 majority to convict, but fell well below that ... closer to 57%.

FAILURE TO REACH MAJORITY
C-SPAN

The votes were mostly cast along party lines -- a majority of Dems voted guilty, and plenty of Republicans held strong on not guilty. There were, however, a few exceptions for the latter group ... including Senators Collins, Burr, Cassidy, Romney, Murkowski, Sasse and Toomey.

Senators Burr and Cassidy came as surprises, as they seemed to be firmly in Trump's camp -- but appear to have had a change of heart during the proceedings, which ended up being a wild ride ... full of viral moments, mockery, jokes (mostly at Trump's team's expense).

PHILEEEEEDELPHIA FREEDOM!
C-SPAN2

The trial lasted less than a week -- things kicked off Tuesday with opening arguments ... and evidence was presented on both sides in favor and against conviction. Democratic House leaders had strong presentations, which documented everything from Jan. 6 and even before ... in terms of the former President riling up his base and inviting them to D.C.

1/6/21
"SHOW STRENGTH AND BE STRONG"
Fox News

Of course, there's the bombshell video of him on stage on the day of ... where he told them to "fight like hell" and to march toward the Capitol to let Congress know how dissatisfied they were with the certification process that was underway. It seemed clear that he was at least, in part, responsible for unleashing them and their fury -- but enough Senators disagreed.

STOP THE VIOLENCE

Trump was slow to publicly call on his supporters to stop, and even when he finally did ... he was light on them, saying stuff like "we love you" and almost excusing the behavior. Eventually, after much backlash, he came out and condemned the riot and violence.

He came out with a new statement shortly after the results came down ... and would you believe -- he called it a "witch hunt" again! Trump says ... "This has been yet another phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our Country. No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago."

He adds, "I also want to convey my gratitude to the millions of decent, hardworking, law-abiding, God-and-Country loving citizens who have bravely supported these important principles in these very difficult and challenging times."

Now that he's been acquitted (twice), the lane is clear for Trump to make another presidential run if he wants to. To be continued ...

Lori Loughlin Let Me Travel Again, Uncle Sam ... Getting Passport Back!!!

UPDATE

12:03 PM PT -- 2/12 -- Lori's getting her passport back ... the court just granted her motion to have it returned.

Lori Loughlin's out of prison, and now she wants the right to leave U.S. soil, but there's a hitch.

The "Full House" star's legal team filed new docs, asking the court to order the return of her passport -- which her lawyers say is currently in the possession of the United States Pretrial Services Office.

Lori had to surrender her passport during her criminal case stemming from the college admissions scandal, but now that she's served her 2-month prison sentence she's looking to get that puppy back in her hands.

JET SET
BACKGRID

Remember ... Lori flew back home in a private jet after spending 2 months at California's FCI Dublin ... so she's definitely the jet-setting type.

The docs say Uncle Sam does not object to returning her passport -- so it's just a matter of time before she gets it back. Once she does, Lori will be in the same boat as a lot of us ... wondering where she can safely travel in the middle of the pandemic.

Lori won't be crossing any borders with her husband just yet, though ... Mossimo Giannulli's still behind bars. He's set to complete his 5-month sentence in April.

Kevin Hart Personal Shopper Busted ... Over $1 Mil in Bogus Spending Alleged!!!

Kevin Hart's personal shopper took that title way too literally, according to prosecutors ... who say the guy swindled Kev out of more than a million bucks.

Dylan Syer was in a NYC court Wednesday for his arraignment for grand larceny and 9 other counts ... after he allegedly used Kevin's credit card info to launder cash into his own account, and then burn through it.

Queens County D.A. Melinda Katz says Syer built trust with Kevin, when he was hired in 2015, by making legit, authorized purchases on behalf of Kevin. However, Katz claims Syer started siphoning off hundreds of thousands from Hart's credit cards, depositing the dough into his own bank account.

He wasn't saving for a rainy day, either -- Syer allegedly spent lavishly on himself. All in all, prosecutors say Kevin was defrauded out of nearly $1.2 mil over nearly 2 years. Much of that was allegedly used to buy pricey jewelry, watches, art, collectibles and luxury handbags.

The D.A. says Syer's haul included 5 Patek Philippe watches worth more than $400k, a Sam Friedman painting, at least 16 Bearbrick collectible dolls, 5 KAWS collectible dolls and 2 Louis Vuitton bags.

Prosecutors are trying to seize all the booty Syer allegedly purchased, so they get back Kevin's money.

Vic Mensa I'll Be Meeting with Julius Jones Soon March is Our Next Shot!!!

KEEP FIGHTIN' FOR JULIUS
TMZ.com

Julius Jones has another shot at freedom, which is why Vic Mensa is trying to get maximum attention on the death row case ... and setting up a face-to-face meeting with him.

We spoke to the Chicago rapper about his newest song, 'SHELTER,' which references Julius directly ... while also touching on police shootings in the Black community. He said it was important for him to get the message out now, because there's a lot on the line in March.

Not too long from now, Julius will have another hearing with the parole board in Oklahoma, which has the power to grant him clemency and save his life. Vic tells us he's actually heading down to the state penitentiary to speak with Julius, and lift his spirits.

Vic says his plan is to raise awareness and put pressure on Oklahoma government officials, including Gov. Kevin Stitt. He's open to meeting with Kim K too ... who also went down to death row to visit Julius last year, and has been advocating for his freedom.

BTW, check out Vic's anecdote about how he became aware of Julius' case ... in what sounds like true fate. Apparently, Julius was well aware of Vic before the latter took up his cause.

In case you hadn't heard, Julius was arrested at age 19 in 1999 in connection to the shooting death of a white man ... for which he was ultimately tried and convicted of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to death, but Julius has maintained his innocence since day 1.

Many have said race was a factor against him from the jump, and that the evidence doesn't squarely point to him as the killer. Still, he's been on death row for more than 20 years now.

YFN Lucci Murder Case Released from Jail on $500k Bond ... Strict Conditions

YFN Lucci is back on the outside after being arrested for murder -- but a judge is imposing limitations to keep him from booking it outta town, or hurting anyone.

Photos and video emerged Monday of the Atlanta rapper getting sprung from jail -- where he'd been in custody since turning himself in last month. He seems happy to be free, for now, but he had to drop a bundle ... a $500k bond to get released.

Once the money was posted, a jail rep says Lucci was cut loose around 4 PM ET -- and he left with a long list of rules he must abide by until his next hearing.

For starters, he has to surrender his passport and wear an ankle monitor while living in an undisclosed location -- and he needs to be at that place between 7 PM and 7 AM.

Outside of those hours, the only thing he can do is meet up with legal counsel for his case, take care of medical appointments and see his kids.

Lucci's also not allowed to have contact with any alleged victims, witnesses or co-defendants in the case ... nor can he associate with any known gang members or convicted felons. He can't even post on social media, although his pals made sure to get video of his release on the Internet.

Lucci's attorney, Drew Findling, tells us, "The bond was negotiated last week and finalized today. He was released just before 4 pm. There are a variety of conditions which is somewhat consistent with these cases, which included surrendering his passport."

One last thing ... the court's barred him from visiting a specific recording studio in downtown Atlanta.

Offset Sued Dude, Where's Our (Expensive) Car?!?

Offset seems to have misplaced not just the keys to a new car, but the whole damn ride itself -- at least that's what a car company's claiming in court.

Platinum Transportation Group -- an L.A.-based luxury rental service -- is suing the Migos rapper over what it says is the shady disappearance of one of their new Bentleys he rented in the Spring of 2020 ... which they say somehow went missing when it was time to turn it back in.

According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, PTG claims it drew up a contract with Offset in May, recognizing him as a repeat customer of theirs. At first, Platinum says the deal was to rent their new 2020 Bentley Bentayga for a couple days at a rate of just less than $600 a day.

They claim that initial rental period kept on getting pushed out by Offset ... and a new deal was allegedly made to have him hold onto the whip 'til late July.

Anyway, right after the 4th ... Platinum claims Offset told them he didn't have the car in his possession, didn't know who had the car last, or where the hell it was. It had vanished -- or at least that's what Platinum is claiming he told them, with no rational explanation.

They also claim Offset stopped making payments on the car after his lease was up on July 25, despite the fact he had failed to return the car. Platinum says he's refused to pay a penny more.

In the lawsuit, Platinum says it filed a police report, but we haven't been able to track down that report.

The company's looking for major damages -- claiming it's out more than $100k in missed revenue from not being able to rent the Bentley.

We reached out to Offset ... no word back yet.

SAG-AFTRA Prez Gabrielle Carteris Trump Quit to Avoid Punishment ... But It Still Might Happen!!!

CURTAINS FOR TRUMP
TMZ.com

SAG-AFTRA Prez and '90210' alum Gabrielle Carteris knows Donald Trump resigned to dodge punishment from the union, but says he could still get a rude awakening.

Gabrielle joined "TMZ Live" Friday to address the former President's letter to her, which as we reported contained the typical Trump beats -- petty insults, boasting and of course ... a claim he's been treated unfairly.

GC points out the timing of his resignation was just a day before he could have been disciplined and possibly expelled from the union -- so, she believes he simply didn't want to go through that.

Well, turns out Trump's not really in the clear just because he quit. Gabrielle laid out what SAG-AFTRA could still do to prevent him from ever rejoining the union.

As for why she felt action had to be taken -- Gabrielle gave a very impassioned explanation of what she saw play out on Jan. 6, and how it threatened lives ... including those of union members.

Taylor Swift Sued You'll Be Sorry 'Evermore' ... For Stealing Our Theme Park Name!!!

Taylor Swift's new album is creating a major mix-up between folks looking for her tunes, and those looking to get their goblin on ... at least according to a fantasy park.

The owners of the Utah-based park called Evermore are suing Tay-Tay for trademark infringement -- claiming they own the rights to the name “evermore,” and saying Swift trampled said rights when she started selling merch with that branding to promote her album by the same name.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, the Evermore park camp claims it's poured many millions of dollars into building the facility, branding and selling its own gear since the park was conceived in 2014 and, of course, when it opened in 2018.

The park owners say they've got 'Evermore' trademarked for a number of different purposes -- including clothing and other merchandise they sell ... all of which they claim was diluted once TS dropped 'evermore' in late 2020.

Evermore park brass alleges since the record came out, their search results are way down in Google, and that it's legitimately causing confusion in the marketplace ... which they say is hurting their bottom line.

They also allege Tay's team was aware that the trademark for 'Evermore' was snatched up, but proceeded with their own campaign anyway ... figuring they'd drown out the park.

Taylor's team calls the suit "frivolous" ... going on to claim the CEO of Evermore park owes millions in construction fees, adding the purpose of the claim is obvious, in their minds. Meanwhile, Evermore park says it had already sent a cease and desist last year -- but now, it's seeking millions in damages.

Marilyn Manson Label & Agency Drop Him ... After Evan Rachel Wood Claims He Abused Her

UPDATE

10:29 AM PT -- 2/2 -- Manson's also been dropped by his talent agency, CAA, in the wake of abuse allegations against him.

UPDATE

Manson issued a response to the claims late Monday, calling them "horrible distortions of reality." He added ... "My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how - and why - others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth."

Marilyn Manson's record label is dropping the hammer ... cutting him hours after his ex, Evan Rachel Wood, publicly claimed the shock rocker abused her for years.

The "Westworld" star posted a statement Monday morning, calling out her former fiance by name for the first time. She claims ... "The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson."

Manson has yet to respond to the allegations, but Loma Vista Recordings has announced, "In light of today’s disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser, Loma Vista will cease to further promote his current album, effective immediately."

The label says it won't be working with Manson in the future either.

In her statement, Wood claimed Manson "started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail."

Wood and Manson were known to be dating in 2007 -- when she was 19 and he was 38 -- and they got engaged in 2010, but split later that year.

In a Rolling Stone article in 2016, Wood began speaking out about being a survivor of sexual abuse and domestic violence and became an activist for other survivors.

She went before Congress in 2018 to describe her struggles as a rape victim, and push for the sexual assault survivor's bill of rights to be passed nationwide. Still, she's never named her alleged abuser until today.

2/28/2018
THE EMOTIONAL TESTIMONY

Due to the timing of her public comments, many already believed she was referring to Manson. He'd also made a disturbing comment in 2009 about fantasizing about killing Wood in an interview with Spin.

However, he publicly denied any wrongdoing this past fall.

Northwestern Cheerleader Sues ... I Was Treated Like a 'Sex Kitten' for Drunk Fans

An ex-Northwestern cheerleader is suing the school -- claiming she was pressured to present herself as a "sex kitten" to please the fan base ... and subjected to sexual harassment and assault in the process.

The woman behind the suit is Hayden Richardson -- who cheered for the Wildcats from 2018 to 2020.

But, Hayden claims her run with the squad wasn't all pom-poms and backflips -- instead she describes a living nightmare in which she was "subjected to a hostile environment including groping, harassments, and sexual touching by older alumni and intoxicated football fans" ... and the school did nothing to stop it.

Richardson -- who says she's a Truman Scholar -- claims in her suit she was "encouraged by her coach and the University to suppress her intellect and instead flaunt her body as if she were just a commodity."

She continues, "the University forced its cheerleaders to behave in a degrading and demeaning manner intended to entice and captivate wealthy donors."

In her suit, Richardson says she complained about specific acts of sexual assault, sexual harassment and exploitation to the cheer team's head coach ... but the accusations were not taken seriously.

Richardson says she felt she was made to feel like a "sex object for fans and alumni donors" -- and if she didn't comply, she was afraid she would be cut from the team and lose her cheerleading scholarships.

Richardson says in her suit ... "at every home game, the cheerleaders were instructed to saunter around the tailgating lots as if they were Victoria’s Secret models on a runway, unsupervised, in their skimpy cheerleading uniforms."

She adds ... "They were expressly told to split up and flirtatiously mingle with extremely intoxicated fans alone and were not provided any security."

There's more ... Richardson says she was often groped on her breasts and buttocks by scummy fans who insisted they just wanted to take a picture.

Richardson says she complained multiple times but the school failed to properly address the issues -- and as a result, she's suffered "emotional pain, mental anguish, and loss of educational opportunities."

Northwestern issued a statement in response to the lawsuit -- saying the university "is committed to fostering an environment in which all members of our community are safe, secure and free from discrimination or harassment of any form."

A spokesperson also told the Chicago Tribune, which first reported the lawsuit, "Reports of discrimination or harassment are confidential in order to protect the individuals involved ... [so the University] cannot confirm the details that have been made public regarding any allegation or investigation."

Miya Ponsetto Drunk in Public Charge Dismissed ... For Bev Hills Arrest

Miya Ponsetto, infamously known as "SoHo Karen," is off the hook for one of her arrests last year -- the one at the Peninsula Hotel in Bev Hills ... before she made national headlines.

The 22-year-old caught a break during her hearing Thursday in L.A. County Court, when her case was dismissed. Prosecutors decided to drop the charge against her after Miya's attorney argued it was an isolated incident and claimed she had no criminal history in California at the time of that arrest.

Miya's lawyer also told the judge her client would not go back to the hotel. Now, Miya's mother, Nicole, was also in court for her arrest in the same incident ... but she didn't get off as easy.

PRAYING FOR ALL INVOLVED
TMZ.com

Nicole pled no contest to battery on a police officer, and was given 100 hours of community service and entered into a 12-month diversion program. If she puts in her hours and stays out of trouble for a year, her case will also be dismissed.

Remember, long before Miya's SoHo hotel incident ... she and her mom were arrested last February at the Peninsula. They were allegedly drunk and belligerent, refusing to leave when asked by hotel staff. Cops say they both threw tantrums when officers responded.

Earlier, we erroneously reported the judge had given Miya the same 100 hours community service that her mom got.

Of course, Miya's had several other legal issues since then ... in California and New York.

Most recently, the Manhattan D.A. slapped her with a string of charges -- and extradited her -- for the December incident at the Arlo Hotel in SoHo. She tried to snatch a phone from a Black teen she falsely accused of stealing hers.

Before that, she was busted for DUI this past October in Ventura County -- which came 5 months after another DUI in Los Angeles. And you thought you had a bad 2020.

THE WILD ARREST

Long story short, Miya's still potentially facing time behind bars depending on how her other cases go -- but as of today, she can rest easy about one of them.

Liberty High School Students Want Body Slam Cop Fired ... Trust in Cops Now Destroyed

1/26/21
THE BRUTAL TAKEDOWN
@LouluNevy/Twitter

The students of Liberty High -- where a teen was body-slammed by a resource officer -- say the cop has no business being on campus anymore, because he's a menace.

Students at the Florida school tell us ... the sentiment among classmates is pretty much universal ... Officer Ethan Fournier must be fired -- or at the very least, permanently removed from duty at Liberty.

We're told lots of the kids no longer trust campus cops and they feel their safety is in jeopardy. We're hearing some students and their families are considering transferring out because of the incident ... that's how rattled everyone is.

Take senior Trey'vion Telfair ... who tells TMZ he used to think Officer Fournier was a good guy. He says Fournier participated in police brutality seminars for Liberty's Black Student Union back in September, and seemed genuine ... saying he stood with them.

Telfair now thinks it was all an act. Ditto for junior Daijah Watts, who says she remembers Fournier as a relatively chill dude ... but does recall one time when he allegedly went too far.

UNDER INVESTIGATION
Osceola County Sheriff's Office/Facebook

Watts claims she saw Fournier use pepper spray on a group of kids who were fighting 2 years ago. She now thinks the whole department is suspicious. Speaking of Liberty brass, we're told the school's offered up mental health resources for their kids and teachers alike ... making school psychologists, counselors and social workers available to anyone who needs to talk.

The Osceola County School District tells us the administration is also in touch with the girl who was slammed, as well as her family, and is offering professional resources to her too.

Bam Margera Stolen Bentley Crashes Into House ... 'I Can't Write This S***!!!'

UPDATE

4:22 PM PT -- The San Diego County Sheriff's Department tells TMZ ... deputies responded to a call at a gas station around 1:30 AM Wednesday and saw several men climbing into a black Bentley. We're told the Bentley quickly drove off, followed by the deputy, who tried to make a stop, but 2 of the men inside fled on foot and the rest sped off into a residential neighborhood.

UPDATE

The SDCSD says the Bentley evaded deputies, but only temporarily, and when deputies found the car crashed into a house it was unoccupied.

UPDATE

We're told a Sheriff's helicopter helped find one of the men cops say took the Bentley, and he was arrested for a parole violation and is still in jail.

UPDATE

The good news ... law enforcement says no one inside the home was injured by the car crash.

Bam Margera's Bentley had one helluva ride ... a thief stole the car and crashed into someone's front porch during a wild police pursuit ... and it's on video.

The "Jackass" star says his expensive whip was stolen Tuesday night in Vista, CA, where he had stopped to charge his phone and get gas on his way to his shaman's house.

HERE'S THE DEAL

Bam says he looked out a store window to discover his car was missing, and then suddenly a bunch of cop cars swarmed and police helicopters appeared overhead and the chase was on.

JACKASS
Flash Media/Sideo.tv

BM says the high-speed chase ended when the thief crashed his whip into a house ... and video shows the Bentley stopped on someone's front lawn, right up against a house, with tons of police on the scene.

The only good news here ... sources close to Bam tell us the car was NOT totaled, but it's been towed to a dealer and needs some repairs.

Oh, and the icing on the cake -- Bam says his phone ended up in someone else's hands too!!!

We think he summed it up best while talking to his buddy, Danny Way ... "I can't write this s*** dude!!!"

Osceola Co. Sheriff Deputy On Paid Leave, Being Investigated ... After Student Body Slam

UNDER INVESTIGATION
Osceola County Sheriff's Office/Facebook
UPDATE

8:15 AM PT -- The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says their deputy who body slammed the female high school student is now on administrative paid leave pending an investigation, which is being headed up by a separate law enforcement agency.

UPDATE

The Sheriff, Marcos Lopez, says he turned the case over to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement ... whom he says are going to get to the bottom of whether the officer did anything wrong here, or if he broke protocol/the law in restraining the teen.

UPDATE

Speaking of her, Lopez said the girl -- whose name or age he didn't mention -- was treated at the scene and later released, going on to say she was "fine."

UPDATE

On the other hand, the officer's name was dropped in the presser ... Ethan Fournier, who's been on the force for 10 years. Lopez didn't reveal his hand on any opinions, but he did say one interesting thing -- condemning death threats he claims have been hurled at Fournier to the utmost degree.

UPDATE

He said while he doesn't condone rogue officers who engage in violent behavior, he equally disavows anyone calling for Fournier's life. Lopez said he's innocent until proven guilty.

Florida cops are feeling the heat over that video of a deputy's assault on a female high school student ... so much so, they're addressing the case in a news conference.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office will discuss the case Wednesday morning after the horrific incident at Liberty High School Tuesday afternoon. Video showed a resource officer violently restraining a female student, and throwing her onto the ground ... head first.

In the video, you see the teenager hit the concrete hard, and her body goes limp. The officer proceeds to place handcuffs on her as the crowd around screams. Multiple people appeared to be recording, and caught the action from different angles. It looked like the student lost consciousness.

The only thing we've heard from OCSO thus far is that the officer was breaking up a fight, and that an investigation is underway.

Presumably, Sheriff Marcos Lopez -- who'll be at the podium shortly -- will have some sort of update on what they've learned at this point, and whether the officer will face any repercussions. It'll be interesting to hear if he denounces the act, or tries to justify it.

Several people have accused the officer of excessive force, with some supposed eyewitnesses claiming the girl was already under control and separated when the cop did what he did. Unclear how the student is doing, or what her condition is.

Lori Loughlin Hubby Denied Early Release ... COVID Concern Not Enough

Lori Loughlin's husband, Mossimo Giannulli, just got shut down by a judge ... who basically said his coronavirus worries weren't enough to get him out of prison early.

According to new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, the judge lays out exactly why Mossimo was denied, and it basically comes down to this -- he didn't give compelling enough reasons to spend the rest of his sentence in home confinement.

The judge says Mossimo's gripes about having to be in solitary for quarantine in and of itself isn't a good reason to cut him loose. The court also writes ... Mossimo should've seen a quarantine period coming from a mile away -- 'cause he went into prison right in the thick of the pandemic.

The court says. Mossimo has been let back into general population since his filing ... and says that the prisons are getting better at handling COVID issues, so at this point, it can be handled by BOP. The judge goes on to say the vaccine is on the way, which will further alleviate the COVID problems.

In the court's view, Mossimo doesn't have any particularly heightened risk of contracting the virus as it stands -- so they don't see any extraordinary reason he oughta be released early. Unless something changes, he'll probably have to sit tight until April -- when his 5-month sentence is up.

Remember, Mossimo claimed the strict conditions in prison from COVID protocols were taking a toll on him. His wife, Lori, is already out ... she had a quick 2-month sentence, and was sent home in December.
