Juice WRLD's family has dropped a posthumous track from him, and its lyrics sadly foreshadow his eventual demise.
The late rapper's family dropped "Righteous" Thursday night and the track goes into extreme detail about his heavy drug use and the state of his mental health. Juice WRLD was never one to hold back his feelings, so it's no surprise the new song is so brutally honest.
His opening lyrics are proof Juice was more than ready to open up: "I know that the truth is hard to digest (yeah). Five or six pills in my right hand (yeah). Codeine runneth over on my nightstand. Taking medicine to fix all of the damage. My anxiety the size of a planet (oh). Holes in my skull over time. My heart's over ice (whoa) ... we may die this evening. Coughing, wheezing, bleeding."
Juice also talked about feeling like he was drowning with "my demons 10 feet under me. Inhale, exhale, but I can't breathe. Too busy drinking codeine, doing high speeds ... take a pill for the thrill, have a relapse."
This isn't the first time Juice has appeared prophetic. In his 2018 track "Legend," Juice had lyrics that included, "What's the 27 club? We ain't making it past 21."
TMZ broke the story ... Juice WRLD died in early December at Chicago's Midway Airport. As we first reported ... the 21-year-old rapper died from an accidental overdose of oxycodone. Witnesses said they saw him swallow a bunch of pills in an attempt to hide them from the feds. He ended up suffering a fatal seizure.
Child actor and Hollywood heir Jason Davis's cause of death was fentanyl ... according to the Medical Examiner.
L.A. County Medical Examiner documents show Jason died from the "effects of fentanyl." No other factors are listed in the report ... but it does say it was an accident.
TMZ broke the story ... Jason was found unresponsive in his bathroom on February 16. Law enforcement sources at the time told us there were items nearby that were consistent with heroin or opioid use ... including burnt tin foil and other paraphernalia.
Based on the ME's report ... the opioid would be fentanyl, and not heroin.
Jason -- known in Hollywood as the voice of Mikey Blumberg on the long-running Disney Channel show, "Recess" -- had battled addiction in the past. In 2011, he was busted and charged for allegedly having heroin on him. Those charges were eventually dropped.
He went on to co-found a charity called Cure Addiction Now, an org he was heavily involved with running. The voice actor was also known for being the grandson of the late Hollywood billionaire moguls, Marvin and Barbara Davis.
9:38 AM PT -- Police say Mitchell had two pounds of marijuana and 1,300 doses of MDMA in his GMC Yukon during a traffic stop. Cops say the weed and ecstasy were packaged in a manner consistent with a mid-level distribution operation.
UPDATE
7:03 AM PT -- 4/23 -- A rep for Mitchell tells TMZ, "Jason is at home with his family right now, working on an amazing new project. News stories move fast and oftentimes without all of the facts. This misunderstanding will be resolved shortly. We trust that the court systems blind justice will protect Jason's rights and allow him to tell his story."
UPDATE
The rep did not get into specifics on the arrest or why Mitchell was charged, but continued, "During the Pandemic it's best we focus on the importance of our Nation growing back to our full capacity."
"Straight Outta Compton" star Jason Mitchellhas just been arrestedin Mississippi on felony weapons and drug charges ... TMZ has learned.
The actor was booked into Harrison County Jail Wednesday and he's facing four felony charges ... according to online records.
Jason, who playedEazy-Ein the N.W.A biopic, is facing two felony charges for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, plus two more felony charges for possession of a weapon by a felon.
Jail records indicate Jason was busted with two guns, including a Glock 19 pistol and a mini Draco AK47 semi-automatic pistol.
We reached out to Jason's camp ... so far, no word back.
Trick Daddy had a white powdery substance tucked away in a dollar bill when cops pulled him over in Miami ... and then he bombed his field sobriety test.
TMZ's obtained bodycam footage of the rapper's arrest for cocaine possession and driving under the influence ... and you can clearly see the moment police discover what they say is cocaine residue on the inside of a dollar bill.
As you can see in the video ... cops are counting Trick Daddy's money on the trunk of his rental car when a white powdery substance starts falling like snow out of a crumpled dollar bill.
As we reported ... Trick Daddy was busted back in January and was booked for DUI and cocaine possession.
In the bodycam footage, Trick Daddy appears to have bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Cops ask him if he had anything to drink, and after saying he'd had a few drinks a couple hours ago, TD bombs a field sobriety test in a parking lot.
Trick Daddy also tried to pull the ol' "don't-you-know-who-I-am" card in the arrest video ... but it backfires.
Tommy "Tiny" Lister has no patience for kids or teens disobeying orders to stay home, and he's threatening vigilante justice -- "Friday" style -- if they don't straighten up.
Tiny, best known for playing Deebo in the 'Friday' flicks, is delivering a stern warning to any kids tempted to blow off coronavirus quarantines ... and it would make Craig and Smokey say, "Damnnnn!!!"
Tiny's strongly urging children to act like adults and put on gloves and masks when they have to go outside, but for the most part ... get their butts in the house and stay there.
He's even threatening Deebo-esque intimidation tactics to make sure they comply.
As you may know ... young people are at much lower risk of developing serious symptoms if they contract COVID-19, but they can still be contagious carriers and infect those who are more at-risk. Hence, the stern message from Lister.
BTW -- for those who are of age -- don't forget Tiny's going to be out in L.A. this Friday for special weed deliveries to 4 lucky winners ... and he'll be wearing the proper safety gear.
Shaun Weiss-- famous for playing Goldberg in "The Mighty Ducks" -- seems to be pulling out of his downward spiral, as he's looking much healthier than he has since his most recent meth bust.
Check out this pic of Shaun now ... he's no longer frail and disheveled. Instead, he's in great spirits and has apparently gained a lot of weight. He was having breakfast last month with his close friend, Drew Gallagher, when the picture was taken.
It's a good sign for Shaun who finally went to rehab in March after getting out of jail.
As we first reported ... Shaun's friends said they were desperate to get the troubled child star help before it was too late -- he was living on the streets and dealing with a slew of life-threatening problems before January's burglary and meth arrest.
When he got out of jail he checked into the recovery facility, but we're told he was recently transferred to a different one due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Our sources say Shaun was told he was at a higher risk of catching COVID-19 because he has diabetes and the original facility could no longer keep him with its main population. So, his team found the new rehab center.
This is, hands down, the best we've seen Shaun looking in a long while -- here's hoping he continues getting the help he needs.
5:41 PM PT -- The new generation of country music is meeting the old guard, because Kacey Musgraves just joined the party to wish Willie an early happy birthday, offering some sobering advice for everyone in quarantine and doing what she does best -- sing.
UPDATE
Kacey says no one really knows what to do in times like these, so everyone should just hang in there and do their best because that's good enough.
The 6-time Grammy winner says she's really productive some days, and others she feels like "a total bitch" ... but that's all okay.
UPDATE
Kacey sings Willie a couple songs on the guitar, including the highly-appropriate "Slow Burn."
Willie Nelson's spending his 4/20 live streaming with some famous marijuana icons ... and he just got serenaded by Ziggy Marley!!!
The country music singer is live-streaming a weed-themed variety show -- dubbed "Come and Toke It" -- for 4 hours and 20 minutes ... and so far, it's been a blazing good time, with tons of special guests.
Ziggy hopped on and sang Willie a personalized version of Bob Marley's hit, "One Love," bringing together two famous music families bonded by weed.
Matthew McConaughey dropped in to chop it up with Willie, Beto O'Rourke stopped by for an update on quarantine life, Tommy Chong exchanged jokes andBill Maher lamented the fact he couldn't smoke a joint with Willie in person because of social distancing.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
Willie and co. whipped this thing together to celebrate the unofficial stoner's holiday -- WN is a big smoker himself, in case you hadn't heard -- and the whole idea is bringing people together during quarantine to smoke some ganja, and donate to a good cause in the process.
The funny thing is ... no one is blazing up, at least not on camera.
Any money raised during the live stream will go toward The Last Prisoner Project -- an org dedicated helping inmates who've been convicted of weed-related offenses get released. The crew is also promoting the hashtag #PassLeft during the show ... self-explanatory.
One of the cool highlights of the broadcast will be the moment that some lucky random viewer is chosen to hop on an individual chat with Willie himself, and to wish him a happy birthday. He turns 87 in a little more than a week, so a rando stoner can give him a personal shout-out.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from this, though, is the opportunity to smoke with Willie himself.
Former PlaymateAshley Mattingly-- a domestic violence victim at the hands of Lane Garrison, who struggled with substance abuse --is dead ... TMZ has learned.
Ashley's sister, Christy, and twin brother Billy tell us she took her own life Wednesday at her home in Austin, Texas and she left a suicide note.
We're told Ashley was found unresponsive Friday after a friend called the Austin Police Department for a wellness check after Ashley went radio silent. We're told police took the note as part of their investigation.
Ashley's family tells us she had been living in Austin for the past two years, and she was struggling with substance abuse. We're told she had demons and battled alcohol abuse, but she was trying to get her life back on track.
The shelter-in-place order in Texas did not help Ashley, her family says, even though Ashley recently adopted a 9-month-old golden retriever puppy to help with her loneliness. We're told the pup, Miss Jean, is now with Ashley's family.
As we reported ... Ashley, who was Playboy's Miss March in 2011, was charged with DUI back in 2016 after allegedly plowing her golf cart into 4 parked cars while she was wasted.
As you know ... Ashley was a victim of domestic violence. Lane, her ex-boyfriend, was convicted of domestic battery in 2012.
The last time we saw Ashley, back in 2015, she seemed to be in good spirits.
Ashley's relatives also tell us they're thankful her friend called police for the wellness check ... and they hope her story can raise awareness about suicide.
It's 4/20 ... and you've NEVER seen Mike Tyson this happy!!
The boxing legend is now a full marijuana advocate and entrepreneur -- and to celebrate the biggest weed holiday of the year, he fired up a joint and explained to TMZ Sports why the day is so important to him.
Of course, 53-year-old Mike launched his "Tyson Ranch" weed biz a while back -- and now swears by THC ... saying he views it as "medicine" and raves that it's changed his life for the better.
Now, he views 4/20 as an important day -- because it symbolizes the beginning of the "revolution" to de-criminalize weed all over the world.
In between tokes, Tyson also revealed his dream celebrity smoking buddy -- explaining why he would have LOVED to spark up with Bob Marley.
"He is such an amazing man, I wish I had the opportunity to meet him."
Obviously, Bob passed away a long time ago -- but Mike says he's friendly with Marley's kids ... and even visited Bob's home in Jamaica!
Ben & Jerry's is yet again putting down the scooper and picking up a megaphone on 4/20 to tell people about the injustice people of color experience over weed arrests.
The famous ice cream company followed in their own footsteps on both Sunday and Monday, with two timely posts about the unofficial holiday ... pointing out that, yes, minorities -- specifically, black people -- are disproportionately punished over having herb.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
B&J come with some stats ... pointing out African-Americans are 264% more likely than white people to be arrested for cannabis possession, even though they use at similar rates. They write, "Cannabis is legal in 33 states, but hundreds of thousands of people are still arrested for possession every year — a disproportionate number of them Black. This #420, get the facts then join us and @aclu_nationwide to take action to pass the MORE Act."
Just the day before, they put up another informational post, which noted that white folks are the ones who seem to be profiting the most on the legalization of weed ... something they say isn't right. Their messaging here is clear ... POC are getting left behind on this issue.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
Of course, Ben & Jerry's conducted a very similar campaign last year, again pointing that despite weed being legal in 33 states now -- it's black people and other minorities that are constantly getting busted for it. A year later, they're hammering their point home twice as hard.
This time, they're also championing a piece of federal legislation they're hoping gets signed into law. It's called the MORE Act -- Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement -- and just as the name describes, it's aimed at getting weed drug offenders out of prison.
There's been some serious movement on that front down in D.C. over the past couple years or so -- something tells us it's more a realistic possibility than not.
L.A. Lakers guard Dion Waiters is coming clean about his infamous weed edible panic attack on the Heat team plane in 2019 ... admitting it really happened, but adamantly denying he had a seizure.
Remember, Waiters reportedly took a THC-infused edible and fell asleep on the team's flight from Phoenix to L.A. back in November ... and freaked out when he woke up.
Waiters required medical attention at a hospital once the plane landed in L.A. ... and had to miss the Heat's game against the Lakers later that night.
The 28-year-old expanded on what really went down on that flight in The Players' Tribune Monday ... saying, "It's on me."
"I own that. It was idiotic on my behalf — point-blank, period," Waiters says. "What’s crazy is, my whole life I been a leader. I’m not a follower. Pat (Riley) knows me. He knows I don’t do drugs."
Waiters points out his struggles with depression and anxiety ... and says he wasn't in a good place when the incident went down.
"But sometimes when you’re going through dark times, you can fall trap to things you’d never do in your right mind."
Waiters says the reports got blown way out of proportion ... and is denying he ever had a seizure.
"Ask the doctors. Ask my Heat teammates. They can speak on it. For that b.s. to come out, it ain’t right."
Waiters was suspended 10 games due to the incident ... and was later traded to the Grizzlies. He was released 3 days later and signed with the L.A. Lakers.
"I made a mistake, but for someone to leak that, and for my family to hear it? Sh*t, it ain’t right."
Were Michael Jordan's rookie teammates part of a "Traveling Cocaine Circus"???
The NBA's G.O.A.T. didn't exactly deny that ... confirming during his 1984-85 rookie year -- he caught his Chicago teammates having a party with blow, weed and women out in Peoria, Ill.
"I walk in, and practically the whole team is in there," Jordan said as part of one of his sit-down interviews for ESPN's "The Last Dance" documentary.
"It was things I had never seen in my life as a young kid. You got your lines over here, you got your weed smokers over here, you got your women over here.”
Jordan -- who had spent the previous three years at the University of North Carolina -- says the incident caused him to be an immediate loner on his new team.
"The first thing I said is, 'I'm out,'" Jordan said. "Because all I can think about is if they come raid this place right now, I am just as guilty as everyone else in this room. From that point on, I was more or less on my own."
Jordan's teammate at the time, Rod Higgins, confirmed MJ never partook in the partying that year ... saying the guy didn't even drink with his new NBA squadmates.
"Whatever somebody else might have been doing off the court, if it was partying or whatever, that wasn’t part of what he wanted to do,” Higgins said. "Orange juice and 7-Up was his go-to."
Turned out to be a pretty good move for Jordan ... he went on to change the culture of the Bulls and win SIX championships.
Jim Jones is blazing it up on 4/20 and you can join his smoke session ... everyone's invited, including celebrity guests like Fabolous,JadakissandKevin Hart!!!
Jim's celebrating the stoner holiday with a couple virtual smoke outs, and you can burn with him and his celeb friends on Zoom when the clock strikes 4:20 PM on the East Coast and West Coast.
The "We Fly High" rapper is hosting the smoke sessions with his business partner, Alex Todd, and they're also celebrating the one-year anniversary of their luxury cannabis brand, Saucey Farms & Extracts.
Anyone can join the smoke sesh on Zoom, and there's also a fundraiser in the online chat for COVID-19 relief efforts so you can get two birds stoned at once, or something like that. All the money raised will be used for masks for the homeless.
Jim's supposed to be joined by celeb guests like Kevin, Jadakiss, Fabolous, N.O.R.E. and more ... and they're gonna be answering questions from fans and giving away Saucey merch, plus tickets to future Jim Jones and Dipset shows.
BTW ... Kevin's not gonna be smoking, but still ... 4/20 BLAZE IT!!!
New York-native Zane Buzby made her big-screen debut when she landed the role of the pill-popping hippie, Jade East -- who gets picked up while hitchhiking and ultimately helps Cheech and Chong get to the battle of the bands -- in the iconic 1978 stoner masterpiece, Cheech & Chong's "Up in Smoke."
Aside from Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong's classic characters ... Zane Buzby was on her hitchhiking journey with her buxom blonde BFF, Debbie, who was played by Wally Ann Wharton.
Buzby is now much more known for her work on the other side of the lens as a director ... and for her work as a humanitarian.
Ex-boxing champ Mia St. John says authorities in L.A. have repeatedly shut down her Alcoholic's Anonymous meetings due to COVID-19 ... but she claims it's now becoming a matter of life and death.
Besides being a 5-time world boxing champ, St. John has also struggled with substance abuse ... and now runs AA meetings in Los Angeles.
But, Mia says officials have told her to stop to the gatherings as a part of California's tough stance on coronavirus.
We spoke with St. John who says the situation is "absolutely ridiculous" because she's been following strict social distancing guidelines.
"We are abiding by the rules and regulations which is 6-feet apart. We're all wearing masks and I don't see a problem with it."
She adds, "It's interesting because in a grocery store, you're right on top of each other. People are much closer together, it's much more dangerous. So what we're doing is actually a lot safer."
Mia says AA meetings -- in person -- are "essential" ... saying face-to-face gatherings are simply more effective than virtual meetings one Zoom.
"I've spoken to so many people at these meetings that tell me they relapsed. I relapsed! I relapsed and I'm not blaming anyone but myself."
"I'm just here to say that people like me rely on our meeting to get us by. We rely on our sober friends to help us through and its a very difficult time I realize for everyone. If we're conducting our meetings safely, I don't see a problem with it."
Mia says she's working hard to convince authorities to give her the green light to continue -- and if they won't comply she's considering taking legal action against the Mayor.
10:50 AM PT -- 4/16 Roy's wife, Brandy, has addressed the new findings of the NTSB report ... saying the news has caused her to relive the horrific tragedy.
UPDATE
"Yesterday's NTSB report on Roy's accident was painful for our family, as it has caused us to relive the worst day of our lives," Halladay said in a statement via the Philadelphia Phillies.
UPDATE
"It has reinforced what I have previously stated, that no one is perfect. Most families struggle in some capacity and ours was no exception."
UPDATE
"We respectfully ask that you not make assumptions or pass judgment. Rather, we encourage you to hug your loved ones and appreciate having them in your lives."
UPDATE
Brandy ended the statement by saying, "As a family, we ask that you allow Roy to rest in peace."
Roy Halladay's dad told investigators he was worried the abuse of prescription meds played a role in his son's fatal plane crash back in Nov. 2017 ... this according to new docs obtained by TMZ Sports.
NTSB officials say in 2 separate interviews with Halladay's father shortly after the fatal flight -- he told them he was worried the ex-Philadelphia Phillies ace might have been abusing Rx drugs.
Investigators claim Halladay's father told them Roy had "enrolled in an in-house detox program for an addiction to Lorazepam" a couple years prior to the accident ... and he told officials he was "concerned that Roy was abusing prescription medications, and that may have played a role in the accident."
As we previously reported, an autopsy revealed Halladay had zolpidem (the generic name for Ambien), as well as morphine in his system at the time he crashed his plane in the Gulf of Mexico.
The tests also came back positive for amphetamines.
Investigators say Halladay's dad told them Roy was suffering from anxiety and depression around the time of the accident.
According to the report, Halladay's dad also told officials he believed back pain, shoulder surgery and anxiety were the only medical ailments the former pitcher suffered from.
There's more ... officials also claim Halladay's father told them Roy often took risks while flying ... saying, "Mr. Halladay had a feeling that his son did not appreciate the dangers involved with flying."
Roy -- who was 40 at the time of the crash -- had tweeted about a conversation with his father just days before the accident, writing, "I keep telling my dad flying the Icon A5 low over the water is like flying a fight jet!"
"His response...... I am flying a fighter jet!!"
Officials also included new photos of the wreckage after it was pulled from the water -- which shows the aircraft was essentially reduced to scrap.
