WAHLBERG APPROVED

Brad Stevens might be the best young coach in the NBA ... but is he on the level of Bill Belichick?

He's certainly on the way ... according to Celtics and Patriots superfan Mark Wahlberg ... who told us "that's a very, very good comparison."

TMZ Sports saw Wahlberg in L.A. ... and asked if the Celts head coach was "the new Belichick of Boston."

(Yeah, we know Boston is a part of New England -- but you get the point.)

It's high praise for a guy who's only been on the job for a few years ... considering B.B. has 5 'chips and is believed by some to be the best damn football coach ever.

But, Mark says there is still 1 thing Stevens has left to do.

Win 5 rings.

Liam Hemsworth Good Genes, Mate!!! Mom & Dad Are Shredded

Published | Updated

Liam Hemsworth gets his good looks and physique from his mama ... and his daddy, clearly!

The youngest Hemsworth bro was out hiking Wednesday with his parents -- looks like they were in the Malibu Hills -- and even though he lovingly referred to them as "oldies" ... their bods are totally camera-ready.

This pic bodes well for Chris and Liam's futures -- their dad, Craig, is completely yoked, and mom Leonie looks like she's ready to run a marathon. Even the family dogs look fit!

With genes this strong ... the whole family's winning.

'Star Wars' Stand-Alone Obi-Wan Movie Near-Immediate 'New Hope' Prequel

Published | Updated

The next movie in the 'Star Wars Story' franchise will feature Obi-Wan Kenobi -- but it ain't an origin story ... far from it actually.

According to a newly released production bulletin -- obtained by TMZ -- Disney's next foray into their spin-off series appears to be called "Obi-Wan: A Star Wars Story," with a working title of "Joshua Tree." "Return of the Jedi" also used a code name ... "Blue Harvest."

The synopsis reads as follows ... Obi-Wan is on Tatooine being an elusive hermit and stuff, but secretly watches over an infant Luke Skywalker, whom he delivered to his uncle, Owen. Tensions between the local farmers and a tribe of Sand People -- headed by a ruthless war chief -- eventually brings Obi outta hiding ... and into Jedi kickass mode. Scene.

The bulletin lists Stephen Daldry as the director -- he'd been rumored to be in talks for the film, and now it looks like he's attached. The movie's shooting in London at a well-known 'Star Wars' studio, recently used for 'The Last Jedi.' Production is set to begin next spring.

Here's the kicker (maybe) ... fans have been clamoring online for Ewan McGregor to reprise the role of (then-young, now-older) Obi, and he recently said he'd be open to it, but hadn't heard a peep from Lucasfilm ... yet. *These aren't the theories you're looking for.*

Bond Girl Izabella Scorupco Buys New $6.4M Crib Trespasser Totally Included!

Published | Updated

Izabella Scorupco -- the main Bond chick in "GoldenEye" -- got way more than she bargained for when she bought a multi-million dollar crib ... a freakin' trespasser.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Izabella recently bought a sick 5-bedroom, 8-bathroom pad in the L.A. area for a whopping $6.478 million. It includes picturesque views of downtown L.A.'s skyline, the Hollywood sign, as well as an incredible pool deck.

Oh, and apparently a trespasser.

Sources tell us Izabella hasn't moved into the house yet but, after reviewing security footage, she noticed a woman had made herself at home ... eating there and hanging out. We're told Izabella called cops who checked out the pad but didn't find the woman.

Cops are on the hunt.

'The Gifted' Stars Marvel Needs a Muslim Superhero Good on Them for Doing It!

Published | Updated

Marvel says it's bringing its first Muslim superhero to the big screen, and a couple of the universe's smaller screen actors say it's about time ... 'cause we need a new normal.

We ran into Coby Bell and Emma Dumont at LAX -- who both star in FOX's "The Gifted," which is a spin-off of the X-Men series -- and they give their bosses at Marvel major props for discussing how to bring their Pakistani-American character, Ms. Marvel, to life.

The president of Marvel, Kevin Feige, told the BBC this week that the studio plan on introducing Kamala Khan once they got Brie Larson's movie, "Captain Marvel," out of the way in 2019. Coby and Emma are looking forward to it for a few different reasons.

Coby says he wants his kid growing up to see heroes of color as the standard, not the exception ... even shouting out Obama in comparison. Emma's take is ... more broad strokes.

'Rookie of the Year' Star Gunning for Reboot ... But No Gary Busey!

Thomas Ian Nicholas
LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN

Time to bring back funky buttloving?!

That's what Thomas Ian Nicholas wants ... the guy who played Henry Rowengartner in "Rookie of the Year" thinks it's time for a reboot -- and he's ready to rally the original cast back together!

With one exception ...

"Maybe not Gary Busey ... he's crazy!"

37-year-old Nicholas has a pretty solid resume -- with the "American Pie" movies and 'Rules of Attraction' -- but says the fans are always asking him to bring back the baseball flick about the kid with the rocket arm.

"A lot of people would be very interested in a 'Rookie of the Year' reboot or a sequel," Nicholas tells us ... explaining that his 1993 flick is always the talk at the movie conventions he attends.

Nicholas says he's got story ideas and he's willing to be the guy who wrangles the old crew ... from Amy Morton to Daniel Stern ... he just needs a studio to fund it.

John Travolta Dances Onstage with 50 Cent ... It's Cannes Lightning!!!

Published | Updated

John Travolta got a case of "Saturday Night Fever" on a weeknight in Cannes, and showed off his dancing skills right next to 50 Cent ... well, just a lil bit.

The "Grease" and "Staying Alive" actor/dance legend joined the rapper onstage in a full tuxedo ... and busted out some very limited moves for the crowd. The outfit doesn't really scream hip-hop, but was pretty fitting for the dad vibe he gave off.

Travolta's at the annual film fest for the premiere of "Gotti" -- which he produced and stars in as the notorious Gambino family crime boss.

We haven't seen it yet, but we've seen all his dance flicks and we'll just say this -- he's still got his rhythm.

Farrah Abraham at Cannes Don't Get Your Panties in a Bunch ... I Definitely Won't

Published | Updated

Even for Farrah Abraham, the revered Cannes Film Festival is just another day at the office -- as in, a place to flash her fully exposed crotch to the masses.

The ex-'Teen Mom' and porn star not only went commando Monday night while attending a fashion show -- she made sure to shift her gown so everyone would know she was au naturel ... as they say in the South of France.

Y'know what else they say in France? Sacre bleu! Zut alors!! And put on some damn underwear, lady! Look, it's not unheard of in celebdom to go nude under a couture gown, but most manage to keep their vagina out of the picture.

Halle Berry did something similar at this year's NAACP Image Awards, but with one major difference -- she covered up because ... class.

Pamela Anderson Rails on Rideshare Companies Again ... w/ Batman-Inspired Ad!!!

Published | Updated

Pamela Anderson channeled her inner Bruce Wayne to slam rideshare companies ... no joke, or Joker for that matter.

Pamela stars in the new PSA -- obtained in advance by TMZ -- dubbed "The Closer" ... which calls into question the hiring practices and alleged misleading hiring tactics deployed by ride-hailing apps like Uber and Lyft to lure drivers.

The ad -- produced by Ride Responsibly -- starts with a potential ride-hail driver walking into a futuristic underground garage ... the same one used in "The Dark Knight Rises." Pamela later appears and makes her "questionable" pitch.

Anderson tells us, "Ride-hail app services not only endanger passengers, they continue to violate their drivers as well, failing to provide a living wage and offering no benefits that are standard for most employees in any other industry."

She continues, "I’ve spoken to transportation and employment experts in the course of my research, and these companies are very clearly (and knowingly) in the wrong. The control that ride-hailing services exercise over their drivers defines them as employees; these drivers deserve to be treated fairly."

This is Pamela's fourth installment in the campaign. She's raised concerns here, here and here. Pamela also reinforced those points at a conference in Vegas. The new PSA is slated to air on major networks starting this week.

'Harry & Meghan' Star I Might Not Look Like William, But ... I Nailed the Royal Accent!

Published | Updated

The guy who played Prince William in Lifetime's "Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance" says even he was surprised when he wasn't given a prosthetic to play the future king of England.

We spoke to actor Burgess Abernethy about his role in the TV movie, which was met with a ton of criticism because a lot of viewers didn't think he looked anything like the real Wills -- and turns out, Burgess didn't think so either.

Burgess says hair, wardrobe and makeup helped a little, and he's still got the bald spot to prove it ... but ultimately, nailing the accent was his saving grace and helped him embody Will's spirit -- even if he's not a dead ringer for the guy. Like he says ... it was his own version of PW.

As for the haters ... seems there's only really one critique Burgess cares about.

DAYS BEFORE

"Superman" star Margot Kidder was battling the flu just 4 days before she died, and talked about her struggle during what appears to be her final interview.

Kidder phoned in to “The Drew and Mike Show” in Detroit on May 9 to promote an upcoming appearance at Motor City Comic Con. She told the hosts she was "in bed with flu" because she's "puking every hour and a half." Kidder sounded rough, very raspy -- and, even though she was in good spirits, she said the flu battle was "not fun."

As we previously reported ... Margot was found dead Sunday at her home in Livingston, Montana. Cops responded to a call that Margot was unconscious and not breathing. Her death is under investigation, but police have said they don't suspect foul play.

Kidder was 69.

'Goosebumps 2' Kids Get Scary-Good $alaries for Sequel

Published | Updated

Three of the kids cast in "Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween" are gonna have tons of cash for Halloween this year ... 'cause their checks are pretty fat.

Jeremy Ray Taylor, Caleel Harris and Peyton Wich are three of the teenagers who will appear in the sequel -- slated for, of course, an October release. While their salaries are pretty great for their age, not all pay's the same across the board ... this according to the minors contracts obtained by TMZ.

Jeremy, for example, bolsters a stronger resume with Stephen King's "It" under his belt and the sequel already in the bag. The 14-year-old is also one of the main characters for the R.L. Stine thriller so it makes sense he's getting the most -- $100k and, if the flick kicks ass at the box office, he stands to earn another $300k in bonuses. Yikes!

Caleel, 14, is getting $75k for his role and 15-year-old Peyton, who has a smaller role in the film, will earn at least $13,280 for 4 weeks of work. Lemonade stands be damned.

Chrissy Metz Oh, of Course I'd Play a Superhero! I'm Split on Which Universe

Published | Updated

Chrissy Metz says she'd love to throw on a cape and save the day on camera -- now the harder question ... DC or Marvel?

We got the 'This Is Us' star Saturday at LAX, where we asked about a revelation she made in her novel 'This Is Me' regarding abuse she suffered as a child. She offers some heartfelt advice to girls going through similar situations ... and then pivoted to spandex tights.

Our guys asks if she's a 'Black Panther' fan since her co-star, Sterling Brown, acts in it. Surprise ... she is, and wouldn't be opposed to donning a mask herself if the opportunity presented itself. Sounds like she's open to any and all, too. Whip up those scripts.

Heather Locklear Hanging with Ava for Mother's Day

Published | Updated

Heather Locklear's come a long way since her domestic violence arrest, and is back in the good graces of her daughter, Ava ... just in time for Mother's Day.

Sources close to Heather tell TMZ ... she and Ava have been repairing their relationship ever since Heather got out of rehab, and they have Sunday plans for a mother-daughter spa day.

We're told they'll be together at Heather's house in Thousand Oaks, CA to watch Ava's new Lifetime movie, "Mommy Be Mine." The Mom's Day weekend is just the second time they've hung out since March.

We broke the story ... Ava was "concerned and sad" over her mom's mental state after her arrest, and took off to Hawaii with her dad, Richie Sambora.

As for what Richie will be doing while his daughter and ex-wife bond ... we're told he just launched a new humanitarian platform called Csnaps -- where fans take selfies with celebs for cash that goes to their choice of several different charities.

Harrison Ford What's Up, Han ... Any Big Movies Coming Out?

Published | Updated

Harrison Ford made up for no-showing at the Hollywood premiere of "Solo: A Star Wars Story" by getting a little quality time with the film's star ... who's playing the role he made famous.

As we reported ... Ford said he's seen the movie and thinks it's "phenomenal," but skipped out on the premiere with the rest of the cast Thursday because he didn't want to steal Alden Ehrenreich's thunder.

Alden's playing young Han Solo in the upcoming 'Star Wars' saga -- which opens May 25 -- and from the looks of it ... is in awe of his predecessor.

Harrison still knows his place, though -- this pic came after Ford and Ron Howard crashed an 'ET' interview with Alden, and Ford told him ... "Get outta my chair."

Lovingly, of course.
