Shawne Merriman I Know Bill O'Brien ... '85-90%' Texans Sign Kaepernick

Published | Updated

Colin Kaepernick to the Houston Texans is basically a done deal -- so says Shawne Merriman, who personally knows coach Bill O'Brien from their University of Maryland days.

We got Merriman leaving Poppy in L.A. -- and the ex-NFL star seemed convinced that his old buddy Bill (an ex-Terrapins asst.) is gonna pull the trigger on Kaepernick with Deshaun Watson sidelined.

"I know he's about that life. He'll do it," Merriman told TMZ Sports. "If he's still the same person ... 85-90 percent Colin will be in Houston."

Shawne thinks the fit is too good for O'Brien to pass up ... and the Texans coach hasn't exactly closed the door on a Kaep deal, saying he's kept an eye on the QB for "a long time" during a Monday media sesh.

HERO IN A HOOD

While Chad Ochocino has officially slammed the door on an NFL comeback, Terrell Owens tells TMZ Sports he's still DEAD SERIOUS about playing in the league.

"I can help anybody," T.O. tells TMZ Sports ... saying his tweet to the NY Giants about filling in as a WR was no joke.

Owens had been competing on "Dancing with the Stars" for the past few months -- but says he would have left the show immediately if an NFL offer had come in.

BTW, did you watch T.O. on that show? Still looks pretty good ...

EVERYTHING HAS A PRICE

There's some truth to the rumors ... with UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber saying he'd consider coming out of retirement to fight T.J. Dillashaw -- but there are some serious caveats.

"First off, the fight for T.J. is Cody [Garbrandt]," Faber tells TMZ Sports ... insisting he doesn't want to "jump the line" and block his good friend from getting a chance to avenge his loss from UFC 217.

But if situation was right ... and the money was right ... 38-year-old Faber says he's all the way down.

And if that fight doesn't happen ... Faber says he'd considering getting back in the Octagon to fight someone else -- but it can't be a nobody.

Bottom line ... doesn't sound like we've seen the end of the California Kid.

NFL's Dwayne Bowe Drops $25K on Strippers ... in 20 Minutes!!

Published | Updated

If there's a strip club record book, Dwayne Bowe is headin' for it ... 'cause the ex-NFL star dropped an insane $25k on strippers in just 20 MINUTES this weekend ... and TMZ Sports has the video.

Bowe -- who led the league in receiving TDs in 2010 -- hit up VLive in Dallas with a couple friends on Saturday night ... and our sources say he made it rain for a brief, yet efficient, 20 minutes.

We're told 33-year-old Bowe and his crew hung around for a few hours and enjoyed themselves ... and even did some dancing of their own, while putting several women through nursing school.

Fun Fact -- Bowe made $9 million with the Browns in 2015, which translates to $1.8 million per catch that season.

He also reportedly made $54 MILLION during his NFL career.

So yeah, ball out.

Chad Johnson NFL Comeback Talk Was a Joke ... 'I'd Embarrass Myself'

Published | Updated

Chad Johnson is sticking a fork in his NFL comeback ... telling TMZ Sports IT AIN'T HAPPENIN' ... 'cause he says his body's "too f**ked up" to play anymore.

The 39-year-old tweeted the N.Y. Giants for a tryout earlier this season after Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall went down with season-ending injuries.

And after the way he balled out with legit NFL superstars during off-season training sessions, it seemed Ocho was serious about one last hurrah with the pros.

So, when we saw Chad on his way out of the Apple Store in L.A., we asked him straight-up how the comeback was coming along.

Spoiler: It's not.

But Chad explains why he needed to finance his new, expensive iPhone X and it's pretty hilarious.

Riff Raff Paul Wall's Astros Grillz Are 'Hot' ... But They Ain't My Style

Published | Updated

Riff Raff is giving props to fellow H-Town MC Paul Wall for droppin' bank on custom grillz for the Astros -- but he's got 1 minor issue with them ...

THEY'RE TOO BALLER!!

Here's the deal ... Wall promised to make all the World Series champs personal mouth bling in 18-karat gold, which Riff says is dope (and expensive).

But when it comes to grillz, RR told TMZ Sports he rocks with 14 karat 'cause 18s and 24s don't hit the right shade of yellow.

The rapper's more of a shark-teeth-and-diamonds kinda guy ... as you can tell from the glow-in-the-dark joint he had on at In-N-Out.

IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN

Chael Sonnen says all the Iceman's trash talk was a bunch of hot air ... 'cause Chuck Liddell rejected 2 DIFFERENT OFFERS to fight him, killing their potential matchup.

"That's just not gonna happen," Sonnen told TMZ Sports.

Chuck's been putting Chael on blast for months ... saying he'd smash him and even calling him a "warm-up fight" -- but it sounds like Liddell's staying retired for now.

As for Sonnen -- he says he's "expecting some news very soon" ... but he wasn't about to let Chuck off the hook that easy, taking some serious shots at the UFC legend before signing off.

GOOD, BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Tony Gonzalez says Colin Kaepernick doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of making it back to the NFL -- not this season, and not ever.

"He's done," Tony told TMZ Sports. "I don't think he'll ever get a chance. Never again."'

Last week, Kaepernick's lawyer predicted the QB would get picked up ASAP -- but Gonzalez literally laughed at the idea ... saying Kaep's not "good enough for the headache."

We also asked Tony about the other NFL superstar at odds with the league -- Ezekiel Elliott -- and he told us what he thinks is gonna happen to the RB (spoiler: it ain't good news).

Michael Irvin Steve Smith Ain't Whoopin' My Ass ... It's All for TV, Baby!!

Published | Updated

Michael Irvin says fans worried about Steve Smith beating his ass can chill -- 'cause Steve ain't actually pissed about Mike ROASTING his plaid pants on "Thursday Night Football."

"Steve's fine, man. Steve's my guy. He was just having fun," Mike told TMZ Sports.

FYI, a straight-faced Smith said he was gonna bust up Irvin the next time they cross paths ... but Mike claims they were just putting on a show for the cameras.

It's been a pretty compelling story on social media -- especially after Irvin made a personal video for Steve asking for forgiveness.

Bonus: Irvin dropped some big news on his son, Michael Irvin Jr., who was suspended from the University of Miami's football team last month.

THE HERO WE NEED

Dennis Rodman is making a plea to POTUS on the eve of his trip to South Korea -- asking him to make peace with his North Korean bro, Kim Jong-un, as tensions rise over nuclear warfare.

"Donald Trump, please, help us," Rodman said to TMZ Sports in Newport Beach. "You always say, 'unite.' I'm all about that."

Dennis told us he trusts Trump ... but feels like he's gotta be involved for his former "Celebrity Apprentice" boss to break bread with the supreme leader.

Highly doubt the Donald's down ... but at least we know the Worm's still trying to play peacemaker.

NO MAN LEFT BEHIND!

Wanna see how fast ice hockey players can move on land?

You're in luck ... because when the Nashville Predators team bus left Catch LA restaurant without 2 guys ... they busted out the footspeed to stop their ride from ditching them!

The NHL team was celebrating Sunday night after beating the L.A. Kings the night before -- they were all in a good mood ... signing autographs and taking pics with fans.

But 2 guys were draggin' ass when it came time to leave ... so the bus took off without 'em. That's when the race was on!

Unclear who the guys are -- couldn't see their faces -- but don't worry, this story has a happy ending.

Deion Sanders DESTROYS Tony Romo ... 'You Ain't Won Nothin'

Published | Updated

Deion Sanders destroyed Tony Romo. There's really no cute or punchy way to put it. The guy opened up his Hall of Fame mouth and ate the soul of Romo live on television.

It happened because Tony dissed Deion's tackling ability again, calling out Chiefs player Marcus Peters for not sticking his nose in a hit and saying MP "makes Deion Sanders look good in tackling."

Prime obviously had enough, 'cause he used his platform on "NFL GameDay," and pushed Romo off it ... here are some highlights.

"You're 2-4 in the playoffs, you ain't won nothing."

"I got a gold jacket that I didn't buy. Dak says hi, and bye." (That one had to hurt.)

"19 interceptions in 2012! You threw to everyone but me!"

BTW, we got Deion out a couple days ago and asked him about people (Romo) ribbing him about his tackling. If you look at him closely, you can see the storm brewing.

No response from Romo yet, but take our advice and don't throw over there.

Soccer Star Jozy Altidore Tunnel Fight with USMNT Teammate ... Police Involved

Published | Updated

A heated altercation between Jozy Altidore and his ex-USMNT teammate Sacha Kljestan escalated into a full-blown war during halftime of an MLS game this weekend -- with yelling and cussing and police ... and it was all caught on video.

It all went down at halftime during Sunday's match between Jozy's Toronto FC and Sacha's NY Red Bulls, where things were already chippy in the 1st half.

Jozy claims Sacha tried to "pull up on me while my back was turned" -- and TFC coach Greg Vanney says he was "ambushed" by 5 or 6 New York Red Bulls players in total.

Sacha's got a different take -- claiming Jozy's the one who started the fight by shoving him into a wall.

Either way, the video is crazy -- you can see players like Michael Bradley trying to keep the peace as cops and stadium security rush in to maintain order.

Both Jozy and Sacha were ejected from the game. The Red Bulls ultimately won the game 1-0.

LAUGHIN' TO THE BANK

Yasiel Puig doesn't give a single damn about his L.A. home being burglarized last week -- telling TMZ Sports, "I have too much f**king money in my life."

Puig was leaving the Lakers game at Staples Center on Sunday when he opened up about the home invader that broke into his place during Game 7 of the World Series.

"I ain't worried about that sh*t," Puig said ... assuring his fans, "I have a f**king lot of money."

FYI, Puig has reportedly collected $34.5 million from the 7-year, $42 million deal he signed back in 2012.

TMZ Sports broke the story ... the burglar only made off with around $150 in costume jewelry. However, back in March, scumbags stole around $500k in bling and other items.

We also asked Puig how he felt about Yu Darvish after that poor pitching performance in Game 7 -- and Puig made it clear he ain't mad one bit.
