Adam, who's been paralyzed from the waist down for more than 13 years, is planning to walk the 26-mile course with the aid of a $95,000 ReWalk Exoskeleton. Just finishing isn't enough. Adam also wants to break the record for the fastest marathon by a paralyzed person.

9:15 AM PT -- Another one of Luke's former '90210' costars, Tiffani Thiessen, has shared a tribute to him as well. She says he welcomed her with open arms when she joined the well-established show, took her under his wing and made her feel like part of his TV family.

Jason Priestley just broke his silence on the passing of Luke Perry ... with a touching tribute to his late friend and former costar.

The "Beverly Hills, 90210" star penned an emotional tribute on Instagram Thursday ... saying Luke was taken from this world far too soon. He wrote, "It's taken me a couple of days to figure out how to write this ... My dear friend of 29 years, Luke Perry, was one of those truly special people who really cared."

He added, "Luke was not only a star, he was an incredibly bright light that was extinguished far too soon... and that is why I, and so many others, are in so much pain today... if you had the good fortune to know Luke, or to have ever crossed his path, I know you are sad today as well."

Jason's thoughtful tribute came a few days after Luke died from a massive stroke he'd suffered 5 days earlier. Their characters -- Brandon Walsh and Dylan McKay -- were close friends on the '90s teen drama, and that friendship continued offscreen.

Alex Trebek has just been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, but not only will he finish out this season of "Jeopardy!" -- he has no plans to retire ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected to Trebek tell us, the TV icon was just informed of the diagnosis. He recorded a video message announcing his diagnosis.

We're told Alex's will finish out the current season of "Jeopardy!." In fact, he says he's vowing to keep working and he's bravely upbeat. In the video, he says he plans to beat cancer.

Sources connected to the legendary host tell us he will immediately begin chemo.

Former 'Jeopardy' champ Austin Rogers tells us he's confident "Mr. Trebek" will have tremendous support from his family, and adds ... his incredibly positive attitude will go a long way as he battles cancer.

Alex has been at the helm of the show since 1984 and it has been immensely successful ever since ... dominating the evening game show biz along with "Wheel of Fortune." Alex has always said he is not the star of the show ... he says it's all about the game and the contestants.

Trebek, who's from Ontario, Canada, got his start in 1961 announcing the news and other events on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He quickly rose to prominence by hosting a live music show and eventually a high school quiz show, called "Reach for the Top."

Alex moved to the U.S. in 1973 and became the host of a new NBC show called "The Wizard of Odds" ... then worked on a variety of game shows until the early '80s before landing the "Jeopardy!" gig, which was actually a revival of an old show. It was a hit, and he's been doing it ever since ... often with his classic mustache. When he shaved his mustache off in the early 2000s, it made headlines.

Last year, 78-year-old Alex spoke to Harvey Levin for an episode of "Objectified" and said he was seriously considering retiring, but he later signed a contract extension to secure his gig through the 2021-2022 season.

He does have a couple potential replacements in mind, though ... and he's pretty clear about it.

Alex took a brief medical leave in 2018 to have surgery for blood clots on his brain after taking a nasty fall -- but 'Jeopardy!' never aired any episodes with a guest host. Alex also suffered mild heart attacks in 2007 and 2012.

COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS

Shareef O'Neal is ALMOST ready to hit the hardwood again ... the UCLA star tells TMZ Sports he's just a month and a half away from a return to the court!!!

"I feel great," he says.

Shareef underwent heart surgery to correct an irregularity back in December ... and his post-op pictures showed just how serious the procedure really was.

But, when we got the 19-year-old leaving Staples Center on Wednesday night ... he was in good spirits -- and tells us his first workouts since the operation are just DAYS away.

In fact, Shareef says Shaq will play a BIG role in his gameplan for a return to the Bruins when he's cleared, telling us his pops, "knows basketball."

Ya think?!

Shareef was an elite prospect coming out of Crossroads H.S. in Santa Monica ... and he famously flipped his commitment from Arizona to UCLA late in his recruiting process.

The power forward was expected to be a key piece of the Bruins this season ... but his heart surgery sidelined him for his entire freshman season.

UCLA's clearly missed him ... the team is just 16-13 this season and will likely miss the NCAA Tournament if they don't win the Pac-12 tourney this month.
