New York Rangers Fan Hit By Puck Sues I'm Permanently Injured

2/29/2016 8:34 AM PST

11:50 AM PT -- We spoke with Cantor's lawyer who tells us ... the 59-year-old man was at the game with his son when he reached out with his hand to block the puck from hitting his kid's face.

We're told Cantor was struck in the left thumb -- leaving him with significant damage to his thumb, hand and shoulder ... damage which required surgery to repair.

A hockey fan who says he was hit by a puck at a NY Rangers game is suing the team -- claiming he was permanently injured during a 2013 game ... TMZ Sports has learned.

The man behind the suit is Robert Cantor -- who claims he was in the stands at Madison Square Garden on March 3, 2013 to watch the Rangers play the Sabres when things went terribly wrong.

In his suit, filed in state court in NY, Cantor claims he was "struck by a high speed projectile (puck) and [sustained] severe and permanent injuries."

Cantor says he suffered pain, shock and mental anguish and is unable to perform normal activities.

He's going after the team, MSG and the NHL -- looking enough cash to make things right.

Sarah Jessica Parker Bored Off Her Ice Reads Book During NHL Game

3/25/2015 11:46 AM PDT

Sarah Jessica Parker found a nice quiet place to curl up with her book Tuesday night ... the NY Rangers game ... where the actress took in several pages without anyone bothering her.

While the Rangers fell to the Kings 4-2, SJP was burying her nose in a book called "Astonish Me" by Maggie Shipstead.

The book is about a Soviet ballet star who defects to the United States in 1975 ... and clearly Parker found it more riveting than watching a bunch of Slovakian hockey stars slapping pucks at each other for 60 minutes.

Tim Robbins The Street Hockey Player

Notorious New York Rangers fan Tim Robbins gave his 55-year-old body a workout by playing street hockey with a few friends in Santa Monica recently.

Do you think breathing through your eyelids works in hockey too?

NHL Badass Sean Avery Off the Hook In Police Battery Case

8/18/2011 12:55 AM PDT

NHL star Sean Avery just caught a fast break in his police battery case -- because we're told, he won't face any charges after his recent arrest ... for allegedly shoving a cop.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, "No criminal charges of any kind will be filed against Sean Avery stemming from his August 5 arrest for battery on a police officer."

As TMZ first reported, cops showed up to Sean's Hollywood Hills home in response to a noise complaint -- and when Avery answered the door ... he allegedly shoved an officer and closed the door.

But according to law enforcement sources, a further investigation revealed that no officer was ever actually pushed.

We're told the officer who made the battery report did so after his foot was caught in Avery's front door -- and multiple witnesses have corroborated the story.

According to sources, police don't believe it's appropriate to charge Avery -- and agree the matter would be best handled by an informal meeting with the L.A. City Attorney, who's expected to officially close the case ... without prosecution.

Sean Avery Asked Cops for Favor After Calling Them "Fat Little Pigs"

8/6/2011 8:30 AM PDT

Sean Avery
has a brass set -- how else do you explain the fact he asked the police that arrested him for a favor ... right after he called them "fat little pigs"?

As TMZ first reported, the NHL star was arrested after he shoved a police officer who came to his house Thursday night after complaints of loud noise from his neighbor. During the arrest, Sean called the cops the aforementioned name ... and challenged them to a fight.

But get this ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ that when Avery was being released, he had a friend ask the officers if they would let Avery go out the back door ... so as to avoid

Law enforcement denied his request and treated him just like everyone else.

Do unto others ...

8/5/2011 3:00 AM PDT

NHL star Sean Avery was arrested early this morning after he shoved a police officer who was trying to break up a loud party at his home in the Hollywood Hills ... TMZ has learned.

According to law enforcement sources, a neighbor called police to complain about the noise coming from Avery's home. When police arrived at about 1:00 AM, we're told Avery answered the door ... then shoved a cop and slammed the door behind him.

Police then knocked again, and we're told the New York Rangers star came to his senses and opened up. According to law enforcement ... Avery was extremely cooperative after that, but was still booked for battery on a peace officer.

He was taken to the Hollywood police station and is being held on $20,000 bail.

UPDATE: Avery was released at 8:10 AM and is scheduled to appear in court on September 2.

Former NHL Player Ron Duguay: 'Memba Him?!

11/12/2009 2:10 AM PST
Known more for being a sex symbol in the '70s than his ability on ice, Ron Duguay played in the NHL for 12 years on teams like the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins and the L.A. Kings. Guess what he looks like now!

Alex Rodriguez B*tch T*ts?!

4/30/2009 10:25 AM PDT
Don't blame us for the nickname...

According to a brand new report from the person who broke the original A-Rod steroid story a few months ago, some of A-Rod's Yankees teammates called him "Bitch Tits" in 2005 -- because he allegedly developed man boobies from steroids.

According to Selena Roberts, "Bitch Tits" didn't stop using the 'roids back when he was on the Rangers -- as he stated publicly -- but cheated all the way to NY. Roberts claims in 2005, A-Rod's teammates noticed "he put on 15 pounds in the offseason which included round pectorals, a condition called gynecomastia that can be caused by anabolic steroids." In other words -- dude had bitch tits.

Another fun fact from Roberts' new report: She claims A-Rod was hated at Hooters because he only tipped 15 percent.

Mary-Kate Melting Avery's Ice?

11/2/2007 1:14 PM PDT
Is Mary-Kate cruising with NY Rangers stud Sean Avery? Sources tell TMZ yes -- and it's getting hot!

Avery, who was previously linked to Elisha Cuthbert and rumored to be the other man in JT's "What Comes Around Goes Around," has been seen squiring MK all over the Big Apple.

He shoots, he scores!

Tim & Susan Huge Hockey Fans?

10/6/2006 3:36 PM PDT
Jack Nicholson at a Lakers game is a normal occurrence, but Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon at a NY Rangers game not so much. You may not know this, but apparently the A-list couple are die hard NHL hockey fans. The family has been frequently spotted at NY Rangers home and away games. Now that's a fan.

Tim and Susan aren't the only ones in the family who are big fans, apparently son Miles is also a hockey buff. Tim recently took 15-year-old Miles to an FHM/NHL party at Marquee in NY to mingle with his favorite players.

We did a little digging and found out that Tim's passion for hockey started all the way back when he was kicked off his high school team for fighting. He also played in the "Hero's of Hockey" game at the National Hockey League's All-Star Game, and claims to own every Rangers highlight video released since their 1994 Stanley Cup championship season.
