J.J. IN THE HOUSE
UPDATE

3:30 PM PT -- Watt just thanked Marshall Goldberg's fam on Twitter, writing ... "I want to thank the Goldberg family for their kindness in offering me the opportunity to wear #99 in Arizona which was previously retired in honor of Marshall Goldberg."

UPDATE

"I am humbled & honored to wear it and will do my best to make them proud and honor Marshall properly."

UPDATE

11:50 AM PT -- Watt and the Cardinals just made things official ... revealing that after J.J.'s talk with Tullos -- he'll now be wearing #99.

UPDATE

Watt explained how it all went down in a fun conversation with Chandler Jones on Tuesday ... telling his new star teammate, "I spoke to [Goldberg's] daughter today and she gave me permission for it, so we're good to go."

UPDATE

Jones loved it, responding, "That's amazing! I love it, man."

UPDATE

8:50 AM PT -- This story just got even better!!!

UPDATE

After we posted our interview with Marshall Goldberg's daughter, we're told J.J. Watt himself called her up and had a great conversation about the number.

UPDATE

We're told Ellen Goldberg Tullos was impressed by Watt and told him she has his blessing to rock the number.

UPDATE

As a token of his appreciation, we're told J.J. asked if her dad had a charity foundation where he could make a donation in his honor.

UPDATE

TALK ABOUT CLASS!!!

UPDATE

Bottom line, sounds like everything is being worked out behind the scenes -- we know the Arizona Cardinals have also been in touch with Ellen and Watt is now expected to wear the #99 in 2021!

J.J. Watt might not have to find a new number in Arizona after all ...

Marshall Goldberg's daughter, Ellen Goldberg Tullos, tells TMZ Sports ... she would have no issue unretiring the #99 for the newest Cardinals star.

In fact, Tullos says she believes her dad would have been honored for Watt to wear his old digits in Arizona.

"He has my blessings," Tullos said of Watt, "and I'm sure my father would be more than delighted for him to carry it on."

If you're unfamiliar ... Goldberg -- who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1939 NFL Draft by the then-Chicago Cardinals -- was a superstar in the league in the 1940s.

He played both ways ... and was considered such a legend by the Cards, they retired his #99 decades after he hung up his spikes.

He was later inducted into the team's ring of honor in 2006 ... just months after he died at age 88.

Many believed because of all that, Watt would not have the opportunity to stick with his old Texans digits in AZ ... but Tullos tells us if the 5-time All-Pro wants to keep the number, the Goldberg family would be all for it.

"Well, I know dad was really honored when they retired his number but also he's always respected other players," Tullos said. "And, if J.J. Watt had the number 99 with him for a long time and it meant something to him, I think he'd be delighted to let him use the number and unretire or whatever the proper word would be."

Tullos continued, "He would be fine with that. It's just the type of guy he was, you know? I think he would be happy to let him use his number and honored with that as well."

Watt agreed to a two-year deal with the Cardinals worth a reported $31 million on Monday morning. The 5-time Pro Bowler is expected to be introduced by the team later this month, though it's unclear when the team will officially assign him his number for the 2021 season.

DR. OZ TO THE RESCUE
UPDATE

11:24 AM PT -- Dr. Oz just detailed his lifesaving heroics at the airport ... and it's incredible.

UPDATE

Oz tells us the man who collapsed had no pulse, was turning a horrible color and had foam coming out of his mouth when he started doing CPR ... but things turned around when Oz was able to control the man's airway and the defibrillator arrived.

UPDATE

Dr. Oz says the defibrillator shocked the man at the highest power possible, and it worked ... in essence, bringing the man back from the dead!!!

UPDATE

Oz tells us why he couldn't have saved the man's life without the help of Port Authority police ... and our law enforcement sources confirmed the man was 60 years old and taken to a hospital, where there's been no update on his condition.

UPDATE

And, get this ... we're told Oz didn't tell the cop helping him exactly who he was, he just said he was a doctor.

UPDATE

10:39 AM PT -- We've obtained a photo from the scene of the medical emergency ... it's unclear if Oz is in the image, but you can see medical personnel around the man.

UPDATE

Dr. Oz saved a life at the Newark airport after a man collapsed face down at baggage claim ... and the good doc was in the right place at the right time.

Sources close to Dr. Oz tells TMZ ... Oz rolled the man over Monday night, cleared his airway and began giving him CPR before using a defibrillator. We're told the guy flatlined and Oz shocked him back to life as a huge crowd watched.

We're told there were no other doctors there, but a Port Authority police officer was there who helped Oz continue CPR while he cleared the man's airway.

It appears the man might have suffered a heart attack ... he's recovering at a New Jersey hospital and doing "okay" as he awaits test results. We're told Oz is in touch with the man's wife, who was traveling with him at the time.

Snooki Never Say Never ... Shooting 'Jersey Shore' Again!!!

Published | Updated

Snooki's retirement from "Jersey Shore" was short-lived ... 'cause TMZ's learned she's filming again and we have some of the first images.

TMZ's obtained a picture that shows Snooki grabbing lunch with co-star Angelina last week at Lucco Cucina + Bar in Florham Park, New Jersey. You can see a producer -- wearing a mask -- at a table next to them and we're told the restaurant was fully lit (for TV, not a party) as cameras rolled on their convo.

It's unclear how involved Snooki's gonna be in the MTV reality series -- guest appearance or full cast member -- but her shooting any scenes at all is significant because she swore off all things 'Jersey Shore' back in December 2019. She told us as much back then when she even shot down a possible spin-off.

Also interesting is the pairing with Angelina -- true GTLers know they've almost always been at each other's throats since Day 1. That tension really amped up when Snooki, Deena and JWOWW took shots at Angelina during what was supposed to be a toast to her ... at her wedding!!!

One theory ... Angelina recently made up with Jenni and Deena following the wedding fiasco. That backlash, btw, is part of the reason why Snooki quit the show -- so, it's possible the lunch was them squashing that beef.

Another theory ... it's an opportunity to promote her new TV gig as host of "Beach Cabana Royale" on Discovery+. Mama bear's gotta eat!!!

Bunny Wailer Reggae Legend Dead at 73

Published

Bunny Wailer -- the reggae icon and founding member of the original Wailers trio with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh -- has died in Jamaica.

Bunny, real name Neville Livingston, died Tuesday at the Medical Associates Hospital in Kingston ... according to his manager, Maxine Stowe. His cause of death's not been given, but he'd been dealing with serious medical issues since suffering his second stroke in 2020.

Born in Jamaica, Livingston befriended Marley at a young age and they'd go on to form the legendary reggae group with Tosh. Though Marley and Tosh were the primary singers and songwriters ... Bunny was known for his incredible harmonies on their songs.

In 1965 the trio released their debut album, "The Wailing Wailers," before going on hiatus and reuniting again in the '70s. Around that time, Bunny wrote and recorded one of his most famous songs, "Dreamland" ... which he later released on his solo album, "Blackheart Man," in 1976.

The Wailers achieved international fame in 1973 with the release of "Catch a Fire" and follow-up album "Burnin'" ... but this would ultimately lead to the group splitting up.

Bunny and Tosh both left the band in 1974, but Bunny would be forever linked to the rise of reggae along with Marley ... and had a successful solo career himself. He'd go on to work with Jamaican musicians, Sly and Robbie, and produce albums of several other artists.

Bunny won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 1991 for "Time Will Tell: A Tribute to Bob Marley," and would go on to win 2 more ... including another tribute album in 1997.

As for other awards ... he received the Order of Merit from the Jamaican government in 2017 for his contributions and achievements. Bunny last toured in 2016 for the 40th anniversary of "Blackheart Man."

He was the last remaining member of the OG Wailers. Marley died of cancer in 1981, and Tosh was murdered by gunmen in an attempted robbery at his home in 1987.

Bunny was 73.

Kodak Black Judge Gives Him the Okay to Travel ... But Only for Work

Published | Updated

Kodak Black is on the move -- or he's about to be anyway, because a judge just signed off on him being able to pack up and hit the road ... with limitations, of course.

A federal judge just approved Kodak's motion to travel for work purposes only -- giving him the green light to go out of state ... so long as he lets 'em know exactly where he's going.

According to the legal docs, obtained by TMZ, the judge says KB has to provide a full itinerary to his probation officer, including where he'll be staying during the travel. Naturally, he'll also have to keep his nose clean while out and about.

MAKIN' AN IMPACT

In his original filing seeking the OK for this, Kodak's attorneys said his plans were to continue the charitable work he's been engaged in lately -- specifically citing the scholarship he set up in the name of one of the Parkland victims, Meadow Pollack, which he recently commemorated with a public service.

It's interesting ... Kodak's attorney, Bradford Cohen, tells TMZ that in addition to the philanthropy, Kodak will also be attending to his music biz as well. We're told he might be looking to book some concert appearances -- when that's possible again -- and record label meetings.

Dr. Seuss 6 Books No Longer Published ... Due to Racist Imagery

Published | Updated

Dr. Seuss books have been beloved by children and adults for generations, but 6 of them will no longer be published because they are racially offensive ... according to the business that preserves the author's legacy.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises says these 6 Seuss books -- including "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street" and "Scrambled Eggs Super!" -- "portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong."

The company says it made the decision to cease sales on these books -- which also include "If I Ran the Zoo," "McElligot’s Pool," "On Beyond Zebra!" and "The Cat’s Quizzer" -- after consulting with educators and reviewing its catalog.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, March 2 -- Dr. Seuss's birthday -- though the decision was made last year. The move comes as President Biden also omitted mention of Dr. Seuss on Read Across America Day ... which is held annually on the author's bday.

Dr. Seuss -- born Theodor Seuss Geisel -- has come under increased scrutiny over the years as his history of racist and anti-Semitic work has been uncovered. A study of 50 Seuss books in 2019 found 43 of 45 characters of color had characteristics aligning with "Orientalism" and 2 "African" characters had anti-Black qualities.

Of the 6 books being pulled ... "The Cat's Quizzer" and "If I Ran the Zoo" were cited in the study specifically for examples of Orientalism and white supremacy.

Britt Reid Crash Photos Released ... Little Girl Still In Bad Shape

Published | Updated
UPDATE

8:59 AM PT -- TMZ Sports has obtained photos of all three cars involved in the crash ... and the images are horrifying.

UPDATE

The pictures show major damage to all 3 cars -- and it's a miracle no one was killed.

UPDATE

In the photos, you can see the front of Reid's white pickup truck was completely smashed in. The car Young was in, meanwhile, had its third-row caved in by the violent contact.

UPDATE

The photos show the third car also suffered significant damage to its front end.

The little girl injured in the Britt Reid car wreck likely has permanent brain damage and will be confined to a wheelchair for the foreseeable future, her family lawyer says.

The attorney for the family of 5-year-old Ariel Young appeared on "Good Morning America" with an update on her health ... and it's not great.

Attorney Tom Porto explained she's awake from her coma but has suffered very serious injuries that will affect her for the rest of her life.

"She’s awake, which is a huge development,” Porto said ... "She likely has permanent brain damage that she will endure for the rest of her life. She’s not walking -- it’s a sad, sad, sad story."

Porto also released images of the crash scene to ABC News showing Reid's white truck completely smashed in on the front side of the ride. It appears the truck was moving at a high speed when the collision occurred.

Reid -- an assistant coach for the KC Chiefs at the time -- allegedly slammed his truck into two cars that were parked on the side of the road on Feb. 4, badly injuring Ariel Young.

Young's family had driven to the scene to help another family member who was stranded on the side of the road after running out of gas.

All three of the cars involved in the wreck suffered severe damage -- and it's a miracle no one was killed.

As for Ariel Young, Porto says she had a long road ahead of her when it comes to her recovery.

Porto told ABC News the family wants Reid -- son of KC Chiefs head coach Andy Reid -- prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Porto cites a police report in which Reid allegedly admitted to consuming 2 to 3 alcoholic beverages -- and taking the prescription medication Adderall -- before getting behind the wheel that fateful day.

Porto said the family is hoping prosecutors hit Reid with felony DWI charges.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Doubles Down on LeBron Comments ... Stay Out of Politics!

Published

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not backing down from his criticism of LeBron James -- reinforcing his belief that athletes should stick to sports and stay out of politics!

"Athletes unite the world, politics divide it,” the soccer superstar said at a news conference Tuesday morning.

"Our role is to unite the world by doing what we do best. Athletes should be athletes and politicians should do politics."

Ibra -- one of the most famous athletes on the planet -- has been under fire for going after LeBron last week during an interview with Discovery+ in Sweden.

At the time, Zlatan said, "[LeBron] is phenomenal at what he's doing, but I don't like when people have some kind of status, they go and do politics at the same time."

"Do what you're good at. Do the category you do. I play football because I'm the best at playing football."

"I don't do politics. If I would be a political politician, I would do politics. That is the first mistake people do when they become famous and they become in a certain status. Stay out of it. Just do what you do best, because it doesn't look good."

LeBron clapped back in a big way -- saying he'll NEVER just shut up and dribble because he understands his voice can make a real impact for those who aren't being heard ... and feels it's his responsibility to use his platform to make positive change.

Zlatan clearly doesn't feel the same way -- saying athletes can do more for the world by simply providing pure entertainment that will unite people from all walks of life.

Rapper Laney Keyz L.A. Home Shot At ... Captured on Surveillance Video

SHOTS FIRED

Bay Area rapper Laney Keyz's home got riddled with bullets and it wasn't a drive-by ... it was a walk-up, and it was all captured on some wild video.

TMZ has obtained surveillance footage that shows three men walk up to what we're told was Laney's L.A. home in the wee hours of Feb. 18 ... and you see them fire off several rounds at the property before they turn around and make a run for it.

One of the guys seems to linger to shoot a bit more ... and eventually scrams with his cohorts. It doesn't appear anyone returned fire -- even though they react like that happened.

Anyway, law enforcement sources tell us LAPD officers located a number of shell casings on the ground where the shooting was reported, but they’ve come up empty thus far on possible suspects. Fortunately, we're told no one was injured in the gunfire ... an investigation's underway.

As for Laney ... sources familiar with the situation tell us he WAS inside during the shooting, but walked away unscathed. Our sources say no one can think of a motive as to why anyone shot at him, so the whole thing remains a mystery.

He ain't sticking around to crack the case, though -- we're told Laney moved the hell out and is on to another pad. Good idea ...

Tekashi 6ix9ine Sued Y'know, We Covered Your Ass ... And You Stiffed Us!!!

Published | Updated

Tekashi 6ix9ine had a forcefield of protection around him in late 2018 -- shortly before he was locked up -- but forgot to pay the people guarding him ... so claims a security company in a new lawsuit.

69 is being sued by Metropolitan Patrol, which claims it provided protection for the guy ... including 11 days in November 2018. Part of that time Tekashi was in L.A. rolling deep with bodyguards, as seen in pics.

According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Metropolitan Patrol says Tekashi signed a contract with them in which they agreed to provide round-the-clock armed security. The lawsuit even includes a detailed schedule of shifts they claim to have worked work.

It looks like the rate was $85/hour during the day, while the late-night shifts cost $127.50/hour.

MP also claims it provided him armored vehicles ... namely, a fully-loaded Yukon with ballistic panels and 2 police-style Ford Explorers complete with lights, sirens, everything.

All in all, Metropolitan says Tekashi's tab came to a little over $75k for the job -- but when it came time to pay up, they claim he simply refused to fork over the money. Now, they want a judge to step in.

Metropolitan wants what they say they’re owed on the contract plus late fees and legal fees that have added up ... in total, they're asking for north of $88k.

6ix9ine’s lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, tells TMZ ... Tekashi's booking agency at the time, MTA Bookings, is responsible for covering the tab, and that Metropolitan's beef is really with them. He says Tekashi has nothing to do with it, and owes nothing ... calling the suit "meritless."

Capitol Police Officer Exodus Could Spell Doom Vulnerable To Attack???

Published

The potential mass exodus of Capitol Police officers could have devastating effects ... police fear Capitol Hill may soon be open to another attack like the insurrection.

Here's the deal ... the union representing USCP officers says many officers are leaving the force soon, and at least one of those officers tells us why the departures could spell trouble for Capitol Hill.

The USCP officer, who is planning to leave the department by the end of the year, tells TMZ ... the sheer number of officers planning to leave the department will put the Capitol at more risk and could make the building more vulnerable to another riot or attack in the future.

We're told there are around 20 USCP officers leaving in the next 6 months, and they're packing their bags because of how the department has been pointing fingers since the riots, with little to no accountability from the top down.

011921_capitol_riot_kal 1/6/21
DO SOMETHING!!!

The way this outgoing officer sees it, there are 2 factors that could lead to another January 6th ... less manpower, and a high degree of uncertainty from officers on what to do the next time a mob were to attack.

Part of that uncertainty, we're told, involves the use of deadly force. We're told USCP officers are still scared to use their guns, for fear of being suspended like the officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbit.

As we first told you ... a deadly force policy still remains unclear within USCP, and we're told there has still been no communication between top brass and rank and file as to how to handle another insurrection.

Making matters worse, we're told, is the union's overwhelming 92% vote of no confidence for acting chief Yogananda Pittman, who got the job 2 days after the insurrection.

It sounds like USCP can't do much to stop the impending exodus among the rank and file ... we're told the officers are just tired of working there with all the "organizational dysfunction."

Oh, and there are rumblings of another QAnon event March 4. We're told USCP leadership has provided no game plan or guidance for officers.

Questlove on 'Golden Globes' Tina, Amy Ripping HFPA is Lip Service ... Until it Diversifies!!!

Published | Updated

Questlove says Amy Poehler and Tina Fey calling out the Golden Globes organization for a lack of diversity doesn't amount to much more than a performance ... at least for now.

We got "The Tonight Show" band frontman heading into work Monday at NBC Studios in New York City and asked about Amy and Tina taking shots at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for having NO black members during the award show.

It certainly seemed strange for the show's own hosts, and other celebs, to openly raise the issue during the broadcast -- but Quest, for one, was not impressed.

He called the remarks purely "performative," and put it squarely on the HFPA to actually add Black members. Until then, he's basically saying ... spare me the lip service.

There's been a lot of backlash against the HFPA, whose members vote on the Golden Globes. As you might have heard ... it's got 87 members, and not a single one is Black.

It doesn't sound like Questlove is holding his breath for it to happen, but like many others, he wants to see real change before next year's Globe nominations.

Amazon Fixes App After Design Furor ... Did Nazi Mustache Mistake

Published | Updated

Amazon's done some much-needed trimming to its new app icon after users noticed it looked a lot like a very infamous mustache -- Hitler's.

The company just made a rather simple but effective fix to the new design, which was updated in January from the longtime blue shopping cart logo to a brown cardboard box-colored icon.

The new icon featured its well-known smiling arrow with a piece of blue tape -- resembling one of its packages -- but problem was ... people thought the serrated edge of the tape looked like a Hitler-esque mustache.

Obviously, Amazon had no choice but to correct this major design flaw ... so the blue tape's is flat now, with a corner folded back. Looks more like an innocuous nose now.

Hopefully, innocuous ... said the Amazon design team.
