Jesse Williams drew some major criticism after promoting his new Emmett Till film with memes that incorporated Nike's new campaign with Colin Kaepernick ... and it was so harsh, he pulled the pics.

News broke Monday that Jesse was tapped to direct a new film about Emmett's mother, Mamie Till. The film follows Mamie's fight for justice after her 14-year-old son was murdered in the South for allegedly whistling at a white woman. Jesse promoted the project by posting the pics below ...

The bunch of photos featured both Emmett, Mamie and others involved in the outcry following his death with Nike's new Kaep-led tagline, "Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything." He also teased his new flick with "TiLL Coming Soon."

A lot of people were not amused by Jesse trying to conflate the two subjects, and he was quickly hit with a wave of backlash. Jesse then removed all but one meme he'd posted ... the one of Emmett's uncle pointing out the white men who killed him in court.

Jesse has been hailed as a modern day civil rights hero and was even given the Humanitarian Award by BET two years ago ... where he delivered a powerful speech about police brutality in America.

Sorry, Khalil Mack ... Mike Ditka thinks you got a great shot at an NFC North title -- but he's telling TMZ Sports it's time to slow the roll on the '85 comparisons.

ICYMI ... Chicago beat up Arizona on Sunday and is one Aaron Rodgers-led miracle away from being 3-0 -- leading some to call this Chicago's best squad since 1985.

But Ditka -- who coached that historic Super Bowl team 33 years ago -- says let's all calm down with that talk.

"I don't know if the talent level on this defense is near what it was on our defense," Iron Mike tells us.

Don't get it twisted ... Ditka's still in love with this team -- saying they do at least hustle and pursue like Mike Singletary and William Perry used to.

Is it cold in here ... or is Enes Kanter just thinking about the playoffs??

The NY Knicks star and LeBron James' nemesis was asked about the team's postseason goals at media day on Monday ... and the dude might've overshared juuuust a bit.

"I like it a lot, man. Because I've been to playoffs before, and then that should be everybody's goal," Kanter says. "It's the playoffs. When I think about playoffs, my nipples get hard."

Kanter immediately apologized for the TMI comment ... but it's too late. It's out there and we can't un-hear it.

"I'm sorry, that's the thing. It's the playoffs. That's what we play for."

The NFL. MLB. The NBA ... Quidditch?

Hey, it's possible for the "Harry Potter" inspired sport to join those massive leagues -- but only if black people start playing ... at least according to Martellus Bennett.

FYI, Quidditch is a fast-paced field game that's been described as part rugby, part dodgeball ... and involves putting a ball through 3 different rings while running with a broom between your legs.

We know what you're thinking ... but Marty B gave the sport a try recently (destroying his opponents) and told TMZ Sports it's actually super fun!

In fact, Bennett says the game has real mass appeal -- "If they took it to the urban community it would be [a national sport]."

He also notes the upside is huge because "there's more Harry Potter fans than there are NFL fans."

He may have a point, the NFL is primarily an American thing. Harry Potter is a global sensation.

Since Bennett won a Super Bowl with the Patriots, we asked if he thought New England could be a good landing spot for Colin Kaepernick ... since Colin's attorney recently suggested the Pats had an interest.

Everyone tends to fall for Jennifer Lopez -- just ask A-Rod -- but this weekend was different, 'cause she was actually in Vegas falling for us ... and bouncing back gracefully.

J. Lo was performing Saturday at her Vegas residency show when somewhere in the midst of all the action, she took a spill on stage, landing on her famous booty. A very helpful fan in the front row helped her get back up ... and Jenny was right back in the swing of things.

Luckily for her, it wasn't as bad of a fall as we've seen over the past year or so -- namely, Teyana Taylor nosediving into her crowd, or that Vanilla Ice fan falling into oblivion ... or even Bushwick Bill getting taken down by Treach. This was more Kesha-esque.

Even better for J. Lo ... she had a swarm of support after the show from the likes of Jessica Alba, Dua Lipa, Becky G, Sofia Vergara and, of course, Mr. Rodriguez himself ... all of whom went backstage to show some love and pose for a photo-op.

Logan Paul better abandon his UFC dreams stat -- because if he ever stepped into the Octagon, he'd get "hurt badly" ... so says Dana White.

"That would be a really bad idea for him," White tells TMZ Sports.

Logan -- an accomplished high school wrestler -- had previously told us his dream would be to book a legit UFC fight after his highly successful boxing match with fellow YouTube star KSI.

In fact, UFC stud Sage Northcutt said he's down to make Paul's dreams come true -- if they can negotiate the right contract.

But, judging by this video ... that fight will never go down under the UFC banner -- because White turns deadly serious when he warns Paul about how extremely underqualified he is to brawl against the trained killers in the UFC.

Lil Wayne's highly anticipated 'Carter V' album is nowhere to be found on the day TONS of listeners expected to hear it ... and salivating fans have no one to blame but themselves.

A source close to Weezy's camp tells TMZ ... the hype surrounding September 21 as the release date for 'Carter V' was all generated by pure speculation that somehow morphed into conspiracies. Fact is ... all Young Money did was tease the cover and NEVER once mentioned an album release date.

The hype started after Floyd Mayweather posted the album cover on Instagram earlier this month and captioned it "[Goat emoji] #21." That led everyone to believe the album was dropping at midnight on September 21. But when midnight came and went ... fans were left scratching their heads, especially after Floyd deleted the post. James Harden followed suit with "#13" and also deleted it.

Making matters even more confusing -- Michael Vick and Kobe Bryant on Friday posted the same album cover on IG but captioned it "#7" and "#8," respectively. In retrospect, they were just posting the cover along with their jersey numbers. Wayne's daughter, Reginae, also posted the album cover on IG but her caption simply had "#C5."

Noah Cyrus had a funny idea for a joke ... and someone has now turned it into a scam.

Noah and her team thought it would be funny to advertise a bottle of her tears for $12,000 a pop. The idea was that she was super sad when she broke up with Lil Xan so she put an ad on Pizzaslime hawking the fake bottle of tears. It was all in fun ... a promotion for her new album, "Good Cry."

Here's the problem. Someone smelled an opportunity to screw her fans out of cash, so they put the ad on GoFundMe, saying they want to buy a bottle ... when anyone with a brain has to know it's not real.

Well ... 8 brainless folks have already contributed a total of $1,240 in just 15 hours. Mind you ... when someone donates on GoFundMe ... the money is automatically deducted from their bank account.

Noah's team is now hip to the scam, and they tell TMZ they're contacting GoFundMe, asking that the post be 86'd. They also say they will reimburse the folks who donated and will throw in backstage passes to one of Noah's shows.

Kevin Hart is riding hard for Tiffany Haddish ... telling Katt Williams to stop attacking her just because he blew his shot at superstardom on drugs.

Kevin lashed out at Katt Friday morning on "The Breakfast Club," telling him, "You had the shot! You were set up to be the star. You didn't show up to work! You f**ked off promo shoots!"

Tiffany was with Kevin when he went off. You'll recall, a week ago Katt blasted Tiffany for leapfrogging over dozens of other comedians who he feels were more deserving of Hollywood fame. But, Kevin says it's time for Katt to quit bitching and take responsibility.

He called him out directly, saying, "Have you ever used your platform to f**king bring the people that were under you up? You haven't! So, because you haven't, don't s**t on those that now are!!"

As for why Kevin thinks Katt hasn't become a huge movie star -- "He chose drugs" and that scared off the studios.

Howie Mandel is pissed about the state of stand-up comedy ... and he's blaming political correctness for its demise.

We got the comedian and "America's Got Talent" judge leaving Craig's Thursday night in WeHo, and he launched into a tirade about why comedy sucks now ... for comedians. Howie harkened back to legends like Richard Pryor -- who were revered for pushing the envelope -- but said anyone who tries that today runs the risk of destroying their whole career.

It's gotten so bad, Howie says he's actually afraid to crack jokes in public.

Chip Kelly's first three games at UCLA have been a disaster -- but it ain't time to panic in Westwood yet ... so says ex-Bruins star, Donovan Carter.

Carter -- a former DL and current star on HBO's "Ballers"-- joined the guys on "TMZ Sports" (weeknights on FS1) ... and preached patience when it came to the embarrassing 0-3 start his alma mater is off to under Chip.

"You just gotta be patient," Carter says. "Rome wasn't built in a day!"

Carter says there are plenty of explanations for why Kelly's team can't find a win -- and he tells us once Chip has the chance to recruit HIS guys to the roster ... W's will come.

Ashton Kutcher accidentally nailed a young man riding a scooter, sending him flying through the air.

19-year-old Leo Marenghi tells TMZ ... he was scooting along Tuesday afternoon on the sidewalk and as he passed the Sunset Bronson Studios in Hollywood, Kutcher pulled out of the lot in his black Tesla. Margenghi, who works as a nanny, says the impact propelled him into the air and he landed in the street.

We're told Kutcher was concerned, got out of his car and asked Leo if he was alright. He said he was fine, save a few bruises. Leo's not in showbiz, but he couldn't resist asking for a selfie as a memento, and Ashton obliged.

Leo, ever the nanny, was on his way to pick up his kids from school, and that's why he was carrying 2 additional scooters.

Machine Gun Kelly dodged danger during his concert in North Carolina when a fan got in his face -- but we're calling BS.

MGK was in Greensboro Tuesday night for his tour with Fall Out Boy, and at one point he got down to crowd level and stopped in front of this huge dude who started losing his s*** ... but stopped short of touching Kelly. The altercation looked totally staged.

You see the guy screaming at Kelly, and he even pretends to swing at his junk. Kelly never flinches, and his security on the ground with him doesn't seem too concerned.

Kylie Jenner being a near-billionaire at the age of 21 ain't the most impressive thing in her life -- that distinction falls to a bowl of cereal and milk. Idle rich, much?

Kylie is seriously blown away by discovering the joy of WET cereal -- Tuesday she tweeted, "last night I had cereal with milk for the first time. life changing." Her flavor of choice was Cinnamon Toast Crunch with regular milk ... she did not specify 1%, 2% or skim, but says she's considering branching out to almond milk. Slow down, sista.

As you'd expect, her 26 million followers are floored she hadn't discovered this at ANY point in her 21-plus years on the planet but, hey ... she's been busy. While you were choking down milk and Lucky Charms, Kylie was creating lip kits, buying houses and enjoying her cereal dry.

9:35 AM PT -- Cinnamon Toast Crunch has just responded with a little love of their own.

Scores of female McDonald's employees are staging a #MeToo walkout across 10 major cities ... protesting the company's alleged mishandling of sexual harassment complaints.

The strike is slated to begin during the lunch rush in major cities, including L.A., Miami, New Orleans, San Francisco and Chicago. The walkout won't go down at all McDees, only some. It's the first-ever nationwide walkout in protest of sexual harassment.

McDonald's employees are protesting what they say is widespread sexual harassment by coworkers or superiors ... alleging they groped or propositioned them for sex. The employees -- in conjunction with an advocacy group fighting for a minimum wage of $15 per hour -- say they were either retaliated against or fired after reporting the alleged incidents to supervisors.

The employees are demanding, among other things, mandatory sexual harassment training for managers and a better enforcement of its "zero-tolerance" sexual harassment policy.

Another advocacy group also plans to fly a plane over McDonald's corporate headquarters in Chicago with a banner that'll read, "McDonald's: Stop Sexual Harassment."

Those super popular/publicly menacing Bird scooters are NOT the most convenient way to get around ... IF you're allegedly wasted and attempting to blow past a DUI checkpoint.

This particular Bird got trapped by LAPD West Traffic over the weekend, and TMZ got this pic of the 25-year-old rider going through his field sobriety test. Law enforcement sources tell us the guy was riding by on the sidewalk. Mistake #1 -- they're supposed to ride on the street.

Mistake #2 -- we're told cops smelled booze on the guy's breath when they stopped him. Next thing he knows, instead of scooting off into the night ... he's trying to put one foot in front of the other.

We're told he refused to take a breathalyzer test and bombed his field sobriety test. He was arrested for misdemeanor DUI.

The takeaway for all you Bird fans out there -- a motorized scooter IS a vehicle, just like a car or a bicycle, and it IS against the law to operate 'em under the influence. Bird even spells that out in its user agreement.
