Robert F. Kennedy Granddaughter Died From Accidental Drowning ... Her Son's Body Found

Published
UPDATE

1:32 PM PT -- 4/8 -- Gideon's body has finally been found, according to cops, who say the boy's body was found in 25 feet of water about 2,000 feet away from where Maeve's body was found.

UPDATE

11:22 AM PT -- Maeve's cause of death is an accidental drowning, according to officials handling the case. The search for her son Gideon's body continues.

UPDATE

7:25 PM PT -- 4/6 -- Divers found Maeve's body Monday evening about 2.5 miles south of the family home on Chesapeake Bay. Authorities say her body was located in water that was 25-feet deep ... and they plan to continue searching for Gideon on Tuesday.

UPDATE

6:15 AM PT -- 4/4 -- Maeve's husband, David McKean, said Friday it seems clear his wife and son have tragically passed. McKean said, "It is clear that Maeve and Gideon have passed away," adding, "It has been more than 24 hours, and the chances they have survived are impossibly small."

UPDATE

McKean said his family was self-quarantining at Maeve's mother's home on Chesapeake Bay, so they could have some space. He says Gideon and Maeve were playing a game of kickball and the ball went into the water, so they got in a canoe to get the ball. He believes the canoe got pushed by either the tide or the wind, into the bay.

UPDATE

12:22 PM PT -- There were local reports Gov. Hogan confirmed Maeve had passed away, but we got video of his news conference, and he merely offers prayers as the search continues.

UPDATE

Two members of the Kennedy family are missing after a canoeing accident on the Chesapeake Bay, and after 24 hours, Maryland's Governor says the search continues for them.

Robert F. Kennedy's granddaughter, Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean, and her 8-year-old son, Gideon, were reported missing Thursday after paddling out near Annapolis, MD ... according to the Washington Post.

The Kennedys are reportedly gathered at a waterfront house and children were playing with a ball in the yard Thursday afternoon when it was kicked into the bay. Maeve and her son hopped in a canoe to track down the ball, but they were unable to paddle back to shore.

Maryland authorities said an overturned canoe matching the description of the Kennedy's had been recovered. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan held a news conference Friday and announced the search for Maeve and Gideon continues.

Maeve's mother is former Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.

The Coast Guard says Maeve and her son were "seen struggling to return to shore in a canoe" before disappearing. Thursday was an extremely windy day on the bay, with gusts of up to 40 MPH in the D.C. area.

Helicopters and boat rescue crews have been searching the area for 24 hours, but still nothing.

Just last summer, another one of RFK's granddaughters, Saiorse Kennedy Hill, died of an accidental overdose while at the family's Hyannis Port compound.

Dating back to John F. Kennedy and RFK's assassinations in the '60s, the family's endured countless tragedies -- including JFK Jr.'s fatal plane crash in 1999, and Michael Kennedy's death in a 1997 skiing accident.

Sen. Bernie Sanders Ends Presidential Campaign ... 'Struggle for Justice Continues'

Published | Updated
Bernie Sanders
ENDING THE CAMPAIGN
UPDATE

9:28 AM PT -- In a message to his supporters, Bernie promised he'd work with Vice President Biden to help further his campaign ... Biden also posted a message about Bernie.

UPDATE
UPDATE

9:05 AM PT -- President Trump just chimed in on Twitter, of course, saying ... "Bernie Sanders is OUT! Thank you to Elizabeth Warren. If not for her, Bernie would have won almost every state on Super Tuesday!"

UPDATE

Trump adds ... "This ended just like the Democrats & the DNC wanted, same as the Crooked Hillary fiasco. The Bernie people should come to the Republican Party, TRADE!"

Sen. Bernie Sanders just ended his 2020 bid for President ... leaving Joe Biden a wide open path for the Democratic nomination.

Bernie made the inevitable decision Wednesday from his hometown of Burlington, Vermont after telling staffers he was suspending his campaign. The news, of course, makes Biden the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Bernie tweeted, "Today I am suspending my campaign. But, while the campaign ends, the struggle for justice continues on."

The announcement comes about a month after getting walloped in primaries held in 6 states, but most importantly ... it came during a global pandemic that effectively shut down the U.S.

It also comes a day after Wisconsin controversially held its state elections. Sanders said about the decision ... "holding this election amid the coronavirus outbreak is dangerous, disregards the guidance of public health experts, and may very well prove deadly." The campaign refused to promote any "get out to vote" efforts for that reason.

Furthermore, the math just wasn't there for Bernie as he faced insurmountable odds. Bernie would reportedly have had to win more than 55% of delegates to score a delegate majority. That no longer seemed possible as Sanders badly struggled to make his case in Florida (Biden's shellacking him there, polls show) and Georgia (Sanders lost badly there 4 years ago to Hillary Clinton) ... two states holding primaries in the next couple of weeks.

The senator from Vermont -- whose platform resonated with young voters who were all-in on his push for universal healthcare and free college -- had hoped to pick up crucial wins Tuesday to give his campaign a much-needed boost. But, instead, it was Biden who distanced himself ... scoring victories in Missouri, Idaho, Mississippi, and perhaps most importantly, Michigan.

After a resounding win, Biden spoke to supporters and all but talked like he was the presumptive nominee saying, "I want to thank Bernie Sanders and his supporters for their tireless energy and their passion. We share a common goal, and together we'll defeat Donald Trump."

Once left for dead before the South Carolina primary, Biden's all but officially emerged as the Democratic nominee for president.

Published | Updated

One of the first bats used in Lou Gehrig's Hall of Fame career has a new owner ... and the going price was a staggering $1 MILLION!!

Heritage Auctions tells TMZ Sports ... Gehrig first started using the bat during his college days at Columbia University -- and continued to use it with the Hartford Senators and earliest New York Yankees days.

The Hillerich & Bradsby stick features Gehrig's last name in block letters on the side of the bat ... as well as a message from the manufacturer, "40 oz., Lou Gehrig, 4-22-25."

The bat was NOT made on 04/22/25 ... we're told the date represents when Gehrig brought the bat back to the factory to have duplicates made.

“It was one of Gehrig’s favorite bats and one he likely used over several seasons," Chris Ivy of Heritage says. "I believe that it’s the most significant Gehrig bat in the hobby."

Of course, as TMZ Sports previously reported ... old bats that used to belong to legends sell for INSANE prices ... with Babe Ruth's 500th home run bat going for more than $1 million.

Final price tag for Gehrig's bat?? $1,025,000.

No word on who the lucky buyer is ... but they just got an AWESOME piece of sports history.

Tom Brady Skipped Patriots OTAs ... After Gisele 'Wasn't Satisfied With Our Marriage'

Published
UPDATE

7:54 AM PT -- The Bucs QB was candid with Stern about his relationship with Donald Trump ... saying he was "uncomfortable" when his friendship with DT became political.

UPDATE

"The whole political aspect came, and I think I got brought into a lot of those things because it was so polarizing around the election time," said Brady, who once famously had a Make America Great Again hat in his locker.

UPDATE

"It was uncomfortable for me because you can’t undo things, not that I would undo a friendship, but political support is a lot different than the support of a friend."

UPDATE

Brady says Trump even tried to get him to speak at the 2016 Republican National Convention ... but TB12 turned him down.

UPDATE

"I didn’t want to get into all the political," Brady said, "because there’s zero-win in regards to any of that."

UPDATE

6:56 AM PT -- Brady just revealed he and Gisele had relationship problems toward the end of his New England career ... saying straight-up the model "wasn't satisfied with our marriage."

UPDATE

Brady told Stern ... Gisele wasn't happy with the way Brady was putting so much attention toward football and his business deals while leaving her to handle their children and housework.

UPDATE

"She didn't feel I was doing my part for the family," Brady said. "She felt like I would play football all season and she would take care of the house and all the sudden when the season would end, I would be like, 'Great, let me get into all my other business activities. Let me get into my football training.'"

UPDATE
UPDATE

"And she's sitting there going, 'Well, when are you going to do things for the house? When are you going to take the kids to school and do that?' And that was a big part of our marriage. I had to, like, check myself. Because she's like, 'I have goals and dreams too.'"

UPDATE

Brady says things got so rocky, Gisele actually wrote him a letter explaining to him her problems with their relationship ... and says the two even went to therapy over it all.

UPDATE

Eventually, Brady skipped out on Patriots OTAs over the issues ... but made it pretty clear to Stern the problems have since been ironed out.

UPDATE

6:24 AM PT -- Brady refused to rip Bill Belichick over his Patriots departure to Stern ... saying there was "absolutely" ZERO resentment toward the New England coach.

UPDATE

In fact, Tom praised The Hoodie's loyalty ... and claimed there's a lot of "wrong assumptions" out there about his relationship with BB.

UPDATE

As for when Brady knew he was probably done in New England, the QB told Stern he had a feeling before last season he was likely on his way out.

What happens if something breaks in Tom Brady's new mansion in Tampa??

HE GETS DEREK JETER'S ASS TO COME FIX IT!!!

"I call and I bitch to him and he gets it fixed," Brady said. "So, he does what he's got to do."

Brady spoke all about being Jeter's newest tenant in Florida with Howard Stern on Wednesday morning ... and TB12 couldn't have been happier with his new landlord.

The Buccaneers QB says he turned to the Yankees legend on super-short notice to get him a proper place ... and he says Derek has more than delivered with his Tampa Bay pad.

In fact, Brady -- who says Jeter even left the place furnished for him -- said of the whole process, "It's nice to rent!"

"I would definitely say you get all of the benefits with none of the responsibility. So I'm totally cool with this."

Brady says the openness of the home is taking some getting used to ... back in Massachusetts, he says it was nearly impossible for fans to drive up to his door.

But, now, he claims boats pull up to his backyard and people are congregating outside on the streets.

"It's a little different," Brady said. But, the QB added, "Derek did a pretty good job of screening it."

As for monthly payments, Brady says he and Jeter had NO discussions of that ... claiming their reps got all the dollars and cents talked out before he moved in.

By the way, that monthly rent check is reportedly somewhere between $75,000-$100,000 ... which ain't much for Tom, who signed a 2-year, $50 MILLION deal with the Bucs.

Yeah, still great to be rich!

Flooded Hotel Viral Video Explained ... $10k in Damages!!!

LOOK OUT BELOW

The guy who ran out of a flooding hotel room didn't only ruin the Nissan he jumped down onto ... we've learned he racked up major damages to the room!!!

The bizarre video started going viral Tuesday, and the backstory behind it is just nuts. According to the guy who captured the scene on video, the trouble started flowing around 7 PM at a Studio 6 motel in Commerce, CA ... just outside Los Angeles.

The person behind the camera, Prophet Amen Ra, tells us fire alarms were going off, but motel workers couldn't get into the room because it was locked. One staffer smashed a window to get inside, and once the door opened ... the water started gushing out.

The now Internet-famous jumper escaped a hotel employee's grasp ... and hopped over the railing to flee the second-floor by bounding down onto a Nissan Murano. Smart move ... he hit the car, dented the hood with his ass, and nearly smashed his head on the pavement.

We're told motel workers claim the jumper had turned on all the faucets in the room, and also busted pipes in the ceiling -- and the total damage was $10k!!! There goes his deposit.

L.A. County Fire and Sheriff's Departments both responded. Our sources say neither the car owner nor the hotel management wanted to press charges, and the guy said he had no malicious intent. He claims the room just flooded. Mmmmhmm.

The owner of the damaged car tells us she does have insurance and she did get the jumper's info, just in case this ends up in court.

What are the chances???
