Anthony Bourdain Dead at 61 ... Apparent Suicide

Published | Updated

Beloved chef and TV host Anthony Bourdain is dead of an apparent suicide.

Bourdain was found dead in his hotel room in Strasbourg, France ... according to CNN. The network says Bourdain's friend and fellow chef Eric Ripert discovered the body Friday morning. He had hanged himself.

They were on location in France shooting an episode of his award-winning show, 'Parts Unknown.'

Ripert tells us, "Anthony was a dear friend. He was an exceptional human being, so inspiring and generous. One of the great storytellers of our time who connected with so many. I wish him peace. My love and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones."

Bourdain made his name first as a chef ... and then an author. His famous book, "Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly," was published in 2000, and its enormous success helped him jump into TV.

His first show was "A Cook's Tour" on the Food Network -- but the series 'No Reservations' on the Travel Channel was his breakout hit.

In 2013, 'Parts Unknown' premiered on CNN, and it immediately won a Peabody Award. During a 2016 episode, shot in Argentina, Bourdain admitted he sometimes struggled with depression.

His last Instagram post was a meal he had 4 days ago in France. In typical Bourdain fashion ... lots of meats and potatoes.

His suicide comes just 3 days after Kate Spade took her own life by hanging herself in her NYC home.

Bourdain leaves behind an 11-year-old daughter. He was 61.

RIP

Anthony Bourdain Talked Depression in 'Parts Unknown' ... 'I Feel Very Isolated'

Published | Updated

Anthony Bourdain revealed he suffered from depression during a 2016 episode of 'Parts Unknown' -- in which he said something as simple as a bad burger could send him into a downward spiral.

Bourdain addressed the issue while visiting Argentina -- a country that fascinated him because it embraced psychoanalysis and mental health treatment.

The episode featured several scenes of Bourdain speaking with his therapist and addressing real issues in his life. And, even though it seems like a joke at first, it becomes clear he's not kidding around.

When asked what brought him into the office, Bourdain says ... "I will find myself in an airport, for instance, and I'll order an airport hamburger. It's an insignificant thing, it's a small thing, it's a hamburger, but it's not a good one. Suddenly I look at the hamburger and I find myself in a spiral of depression that can last for days."

He goes on to explain how he often feels alone.

"I feel kind of like a freak and I feel very isolated. I communicate for a living but I'm terrible at communicating with people I care about."

The episode ended with Bourdain saying he has positive moments too.

"There's the evil cheeseburger that sets me off. Suddenly I'm super depressed for days. It's like that with the good stuff too. I have a couple of happy minutes there where I'm thinking, life is pretty good."

OFFICIAL INVITE

Maury Povich just extended a red carpet invite to Drake to come on his show, take a paternity test and prove once and for all if he's got a kid.

We got Maury at LAX Thursday, and to say he's eager to have Drake come on his show and take a DNA test that proves his paternity would be an understatement.

Maury says he's offered his expertise to other rappers in the past, most recently a lie detector test to Cardi B and Offset who went through a rough patch shortly before she announced she's pregnant.

It's actually not a bad call for Drake. Many feel Drizzy took the L by staying silent after Pusha T allegedly beat him to the punch and hinted he had a son with porn star Sophie Brussaux on his diss track, "The Story of Adidon."

It'd make an excellent music video too.

Eric Balfour Neighbors Shut Down by Judge In Nasty Feud Case

Published | Updated

Eric Balfour scored a huge win in court when a judge denied his neighbors' request for a restraining order.

Eric -- who starred in "24" and "Six Feet Under" -- got the word Wednesday after the the request was denied in court. As we previously reported ... Eric's neighbors wanted a temporary restraining order last month because the actor allegedly put threatening letters in mailboxes for years and harassed their whole family ... peeping at the wife and daughter through the bathroom and bedroom windows.

The judge wasn't buying it and shot down the request until a hearing this month ... which sided again with Eric ... so it's done for good.

Roseanne Barr Everything's Coming Up Roses ... Not Really, Though

Published | Updated

Pretty sure Roseanne Barr would rather be in a writers' room working on season 2 of her show, but instead she's got tons of time to smell roses ... and scowl.

Roseanne's retreated to her Salt Lake City home, and Thursday morning she was looking pretty down and out while clipping rosebuds. Gardening is probably a wiser pastime for her than tweeting ... considering that's what led to her hit ABC sitcom being canceled.

TMZ broke the story ... there's potential good news for her former coworkers. ABC wants to revive "Roseanne," but center it around Sara Gilbert's character.

The show revival could be announced this week. Of course, the new version wouldn't bear Roseanne's name.

What's that line about a rose by any other name?

LOOK AT MY WRIST SHEEN, CHYEA!

Lil Pump is handing out bust down watches like the Cavaliers are handing over games to the Warriors ... and the latest guy to get one is Charlie Sheen.

Pump recruited Sheen for his latest music video shoot and while the pairing might seem random, it's actually not once you consider it's for a song called "Drug Addict."

Sheen's struggle with drugs has not exactly flown under the radar, but from the looks of the footage on the set, Sheen is looking great. Here's a scary thought though ... he's playing a doctor.

Pump courted Sheen for the video with a ton of cash a couple weeks ago. Unclear if Pump actually forked over the dough for the cameo along with the flashy timepiece.

As for the watch ... it's covered in diamonds, just like the ones Pump gifted to his crew last month.

Sheryl Underwood on Kate Spade I've Been Through This ... Her Daughter's Pain Won't Go Away

Published | Updated

Kate Spade's suicide note will make her death infinitely harder for Kate's daughter and family ... according to Sheryl Underwood, who sadly knows exactly what they're going through.

Sheryl had an extraordinarily emotional moment on Wednesday's episode of "The Talk." Her husband killed himself in 1990 after they'd been married for 3 years, and she bravely discussed how it's still affecting her.

As Sheryl put it, "I'm sad for her daughter, for that to be in the note because my husband left a note. And what the note does to the person who is still alive is, it shows that the person who is no longer alive has now had the final word."

John Goodman Hello, ABC? Yes, I'm 'Interested' in Reboot #2

Published | Updated

John Goodman's looking like he means business ... as in the "Roseanne" reboot business.

John was out in New Orleans Tuesday, and was spotted on a call that seemed more serious than lighthearted -- and ya gotta wonder if that's ABC or "Roseanne" producers on the line.

As we previously reported, Goodman is "very interested" in being a part of a second "Roseanne" reboot ... which we're told will be centered around Sara Gilbert's character, Darlene, instead of Roseanne Barr. All of this is the fallout from the show being immediately canceled after Barr took a racially-charged shot on Twitter at a former Obama aid.

Now that producer Tom Werner's gotten involved in negotiations to relaunch the show ... we're told an announcement could come as soon as this week.

Stay by the phone, John!

Henry Winkler About Miss America Changes ... I'm Trying to Vote, and Not on Swimsuits!!!

Published | Updated

Henry Winkler was fired up about Miss America right before he went to cast his ballot in the California primaries ... and ended up having even more reason to get ticked off.

We got the Fonz Tuesday as he was leaving e. Baldi in Bev Hills, and asked what he thought of the famed competition doing away with its swimsuit portion. He built up a lot of hype ... only to tell us how he really feels -- and the truth is, he had bigger fish to fry.

Moments after this clip, Henry got some bad news.

Turns out he was among the nearly 120,000 L.A. County residents whose names were left off the voter rolls at their polling place.

Seems he was able to cast a provisional ballot, though ... 'cause he got his sticker, and wore it proudly. Ayyyy, thumbs-up, Fonzie!

Oprah Nothing's Gonna Top My Smithsonian Honor!!!

Published | Updated

Oprah is absolutely shook about becoming an exhibit at a Smithsonian museum ... as you're about to see in this video. Seriously, it's "everybody gets a car" level excitement!

The TV queen spoke to Adam Glyn Tuesday in NYC, where he congratulated her on the Oprah exhibit coming to D.C.'s Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture.

The Smithsonian calls her an activist whose contributions run parallel to those of Sojourner Truth and Ida B. Wells. So, you can imagine ... O's going totally bonkers over the honor, and explained why it's the last thing she ever expected.

Some of the items in the exhibit include the suit she wore during that 2004 car giveaway, and images from her 1971 East Nashville High yearbook. "Watching Oprah: The Oprah Winfrey Show and American Culture" will be open for a year, starting this Friday.

We get it, O. What's gonna top this? Even she doesn't know.

Orlando Brown Arrested Again ... New Raven-Symone Tat on Display

Published | Updated

Orlando Brown's been busted again -- this time for narcotics possession -- and has provided another epic mug shot ... featuring some interesting new ink.

The former "That's So Raven" star was arrested Monday afternoon in Las Vegas after cops witnessed him go in and out of a motel in a high drug and prostitution area ... according to law enforcement sources.

We're told cops pulled over the cab Brown got in after he quickly left the motel, and he initially refused to cooperate with cops during the stop ... so he was cuffed.

Our sources say cops found a bag of drugs on Brown -- later determined to be meth -- and a pipe ... and also discovered a warrant out for his arrest for an unrelated domestic violence case.

Brown was booked on felony narcotics possession, and misdemeanor charges of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. We're told he's currently still in lockup.

On the plus side ... the giant neck and chest tattoo Brown got of his former costar, Raven-Symone -- which he was flaunting on social media last week -- is getting more pub, albeit probably not the way he hoped.

As we've covered ... Brown's had a plethora of legal problems the past year, including getting arrested by bounty hunters in his underwear. He told us he plans to sue the men over the incident.

But like we said ... he makes the most of his mug shots.

Harvey Weinstein Pleads Not Guilty to Rape & Criminal Sex Act

Published | Updated

Harvey Weinstein cracked a smile as he walked into court before pleading not guilty to rape and criminal sex act charges.

The disgraced movie mogul -- flanked by his attorneys -- entered his plea in a low, gravely voice Tuesday morning in an NYC court. He struck a serious tone throughout the hearing ... looking straight the entire time. He's free on $1 million bail.

As we reported ... Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. announced last week the grand jury handed up charges of rape in the first and third degrees, as well as committing a criminal sexual act in the first degree.

Vance said the indictment brings Weinstein "another step closer to accountability for the crimes of violence with which he is now charged."

Weinstein's lawyer, Ben Brafman, had previously said he thinks prosecutors have "unfairly denied access to critical information about this case."

Weinstein's adamant he had a 10-year consensual relationship with the woman accusing him of rape ... both before and after the alleged sexual assault.

Isaiah Thomas Trolls Cavs ... You're Gonna Get Swept!!

Published | Updated

LeBron ain't gonna like this ... Isaiah Thomas is throwing ALL the shade at his former Cavs teammates ... trolling Cleveland for getting whooped in the NBA Finals.

IT was getting smoked by NBA legend Isiah Thomas (the other one) in a game called "Generation Gap" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Monday night ... and the Lakers guard compared his poor play to his old team.

"I'm like the Cavs ... I'm going to get swept"

Ouch.

Of course, IT was traded from Boston to Cleveland in the blockbuster Kyrie Irving deal just to get shipped to L.A. at the February deadline ... and IT's been poking fun at his time in the Land ever since.

We're guessing LBJ isn't laughing.

THE SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE

The guy who claims Dr. Phil badly injured him when his car allegedly plowed into him has some explaining to do ... because we got the surveillance video and he didn't seem hurt at all.

TMZ has obtained video of the October incident, which shows Dr. Phil trying to pass a van in front of him on the way out of the Universal Studios parking structure. You see him pull around the van ... coming in contact with the skateboarder.

The impact seems pretty mild -- and the skateboarder was able to get up and shake Dr. Phil's hand. As we previously reported, the skateboarder told Phil he was fine, but after a passerby called paramedics, he told the EMT's he was injured.

As we reported ... the skateboarder was gearing up to sue Dr. Phil, claiming he experienced pain and injuries after the fact. We've reached out to the alleged victim's attorney, John H. Mardoyan, who tells us ... "After viewing the video footage, we have decided to no longer represent Terrence Bembury in the matter."

Case closed.

Published | Updated

Dunder Mifflin fans have lost a member of their TV family -- Hugh Dane, who famously played Hank the security guard on "The Office," has died.

One of Hugh's costars on the sitcom, Rainn Wilson, tweeted out the news Monday with a link to a nonprofit Hugh was involved with. The org., The Inner City Cultural Center in L.A., posted about Hugh's death late last month ... they say he died in mid-May.

It's unclear what Hugh might've died from -- the ICCC didn't provide any details about the circumstances surrounding his death. They did mention, however, he'll be honored through a memorial this weekend.

Hugh had a long acting career dating back to the 1990s. Besides his recurring role as Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch enforcer ... he's also appeared on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "Martin," "Boy Meets World," "Everybody Hates Chris," "The West Wing," "Friends," "Sister, Sister," "The Steve Harvey Show," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "New Girl" and lots of other shows and films.
