DOING DUE DILIGENCE

Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby says her team went above and beyond to keep the family of Hae Min Lee informed about Adnan Syed's release -- and adds her office is far from done with the case or Adnan.

This is coming after the victim's family attorney blasted her for "completely excluding" them.

Mosby joined us Tuesday on "TMZ Live" Tuesday to defend herself after the Lee family attorney said they feel "blindsided and betrayed" by prosecutors' secret moves to spring Adnan from prison. She shared numerous ways she says her office reached out to them throughout the process as they worked on releasing Syed.

GREETING THE CROWD

Mosby notes there's no way they would've done any of this work without first contacting the Lee family. She also filled us in on her plans to retry Adnan for murder, but noted there's one remaining hang-up and it's related to DNA testing results.

As we reported, Syed was released from prison Monday after serving 23 years of a life sentence for Lee's 1999 murder.

The Lee family attorney, Steve Kelly, called out Mosby on CNN Tuesday, saying his clients should have been allowed to weigh in on the Syed decision -- but Mosby laid out all the irregularities she says made it absolutely necessary to free him ... for now.

Brooklyn's Bishop Whitehead I Didn't Choke Woman .. New Video Shows I Protected My Fam!!!

Published | Updated

The Brooklyn pastor who went viral for manhandling a woman during his church service says he and his family are the real victims ... and he's released security footage to prove his case.

Bishop Lamor Whitehead joined "TMZ Live" to explain his side of things after he came under fire for shoving a woman on Sunday, and removing her from the church. Previously, the only angle we'd seen was the live stream cam directed at the pulpit.

Whitehead says this new video shows the woman -- who appeared to be protesting the Bishop -- heading directly for his wife and 10-month-old baby while cursing at them.

We can't hear what she's saying on the security footage, Pastor Whitehead is insisting he felt the woman was a threat to his family ... and he adds the whole incident was set up by bloggers who take issue with the fact he's been known to hang with celebs.

In other words, he feels completely justified for getting physical especially because he feared she might have a weapon in a small purse that was under her arm.

He also says he never choked or scratched her, but he did grab her shoulder in order to escort her out to police ... despite her posting a huge scratch mark on her neck.

Cops seem to be backing Whitehead's version of events. As we told you, the woman's been charged with trespassing and disrupting a service, while the pastor was released with no charges.

PnB Rock Body Set to Be Released ... Amid Tensions w/ Officials, Family

Published | Updated

PnB Rock's body is ready to be released to his family, but the process behind the scenes has been drama-filled between them and officials ... and actually required police intervention.

Sources tell TMZ ... PnB Rock's mother wanted her son's body right away because of religious reasons, but the medical examiner wouldn't give it up because his death's part of a larger homicide investigation. PnB's brother, PnB Meen, alluded to this online -- saying the family was having issues with the M.E. -- making him question how PnB's Janazah would go.

Janazah is a Muslim funeral ceremony ... and there are certain rules that come with conducting one -- including getting a burial started within 72 hours.

We're told PnB Rock's mom flew from Philadelphia to Los Angeles after being notified her son had been shot and killed Monday, and she went straight to the medical examiner's office to ID the body and try to get it released to the fam.

Our sources say Rock's mom was adamant the body needed to be released ASAP because their customs. We're told things got heated when the family was informed their request for immediate release could not be met and that LAPD was called to the L.A. County Coroner's office to help calm things down.

Our sources say PnB's mom also didn't want an autopsy performed, because it goes against their religion ... but we're told the M.E.'s office told her they had to conduct an autopsy by law.

TMZ broke the story ... PnB Rock was shot and killed Monday while dining at a Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles restaurant in South Los Angeles.

The M.E. released the autopsy findings Friday, saying PnB Rock died from a gunshot wound to his back/chest, classifying his death as a homicide.

With PnB Rock's body finally getting the green light to be released into his family's possession -- after tons of back-and-forth between his loved ones, legal team, LAPD and the M.E. -- we're told the plan is for his family to take the body back to his Philly hometown for a funeral.

Unclear if the family has actually gathered the body just yet, but we imagine that could be happening right now. The M.E.'s Office tells us the body's been ready since Friday, and that they've been in touch with his next of kin ... so they're in the loop as well.

Blueface New Vid Shows Attack on Chrisean's Dad ... After He Gets Punched

SUCKER-PUNCHED
UPDATE

10:40 AM PT -- Baltimore PD tells TMZ ... they got a call for disorderly conduct and an assault, and while multiple officers showed up -- no police services were needed.

Blueface attacked his girlfriend's father this week -- but it wasn't out of nowhere ... the guy literally swung at his daughter's boyfriend first, and seems to have connected.

TMZ has obtained the video that everyone's been wanting to see as it relates to this scuffle -- actual surveillance footage from Friday evening in Baltimore, which shows Blueface actually deliver the knockdown blow to her Chrisean Rock's dad ... whose name is unknown.

This is an entirely new angle than what's been floating around on the internet -- terrible shaky shots of the aftermath that don't really capture or show anything clearly whatsoever.

Now, it's unclear what exactly was going on here or what might've precipitated this -- but it seems the rapper was meeting Chrisean's larger family, with a film crew on hand, at the Four Seasons at around 6:30 PM ... this following their lovey-dovey display at NYFW.

In the clip, you can see the couple facing off with a group of people -- presumably Chrisean's brood -- in a tense convo ... and eventually, a man in black approaches Blueface, only to swing on him unexpectedly in what can only be described as a sucker punch.

He appears to graze Blueface, who stumbled back, and a would-be fight breaks out -- with Blueface attempting to swing back on the man but missing. He wasn't done yet though ... in the second half of our video, you see Blueface charge that same man (who's reported to be Chrisean's father) and finally get his licks in ... punching the dude and toppling him over.

Chrisean has since admitted the guy who Blueface retaliated against was, in fact, her pops -- but it sounds like she's on her boo's side with this one ... 'cause she was crapping on her old man in since-deleted tweets, saying he was an absentee dad/claiming he was abusive.

Blueface, meanwhile, took to his IG to say he was Chrisean's daddy now ... and seemed to be laughing off the entire episode. We're told cops were called to the scene, but folks had scattered by the time they arrived -- we've reached out to Baltimore PD for comment.

SERVING FACE SHOTS!!!

This isn't the first time Blueface and Chrisean have been involved in violence -- although lately, they've been in mutual combat against each other. Now, it's leaking out elsewhere.

Good luck, you two! 😬

LETTING KIM LEAD

Kanye West has tipped his hand in his divorce case -- how custody is going to work.

Ye jumped on the 'Alo Mind' podcast Friday and said, "Even to this day, I'll still give Kim advice on things that can help, because that's gonna go to the kids. She's still got [them] 80% of the time -- raise those children."

The reason that's significant ... sources connected to the former couple tell TMZ, Kanye hasn't engaged with his lawyer -- whoever that is now, because he's gone through 5 already -- about the remaining issues in the divorce ... custody and property settlement.

There's a trial set for December if Kanye stays radio silent, and so far his side hasn't engaged Kim Kardashian's team about all this. But, saying Kim gets 80% is the first time we've heard any sort of structure, which is the first step in hashing out an agreement.

Kim filed for divorce in February, 2021 after 7 years of marriage and is now legally single.

Prosecutors said Norman -- who owns Sweetie Pie's restaurant -- tried to cash a $450K life insurance policy taken out on his nephew after working with a woman named Terica Ellis to pull off the murder.

Ellis was also charged with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire and has pled guilty. She'll be sentenced next month.

Tim and Andre both starred on the OWN network show "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's", which is about the popular soul food biz in St. Louis. They starred alongside Miss Robbie -- Andre's grandmother and Tim's mom.

Britney Spears Settlement Talks Underway ... Britney, Jamie and Tri Star Open to Ending Financial Dispute

Published | Updated

Lawyers for Britney Spears and Jamie Spears are in talks to end their contentious legal battle ... sources with direct knowledge on both sides tell TMZ.

Our sources tell TMZ ... Britney's attorney, Mathew Rosengart, has reached out to both Jamie's lawyer and lawyers for Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group to settle up. As you know, Rosengart has accused both Jamie and Tri Star of misappropriating massive amounts of money from Britney ... an allegation they have strongly denied.

BRITNEY IS FREE

Our sources say a few months after the conservatorship ended last November, lawyers for Jamie and Tri Star approached Rosengart to settle their differences, but Britney's lawyer was having none of it and was going full steam ahead.

We're told Rosengart had a change of heart roughly a month ago and offered to end the legal fight for a price ... around $7 million. Sources tell us lawyers for Tri Star and Jamie wanted to know how he reached that figure, but they say Rosengart didn't offer specifics, so there was an impasse.

Our sources say both sides are still open to settling and, a source with direct knowledge tells TMZ ... as recently as this week Rosengart contacted Tri Star to forge ahead with a possible settlement.

This is not to say everyone's on the same page. Sources with direct knowledge of Tri Star and Jamie tell TMZ ...  Rosengart is "scrambling" to settle the case. A source with direct knowledge in Britney's camp, however, tells TMZ ... Rosengart is not scrambling at all, and general settlement talks are simply standard operating procedure in any legal dispute.

The sticking point, obviously, is how much will Jamie and/or Tri Star be willing to pay, and how much will Britney be willing to accept to put an end to this legal war.

Chrissy Teigen I Actually Had An Abortion ... Not A Miscarriage 2 Years Ago

Published | Updated
UPDATE

11:37 AM PT -- Chrissy Teigen responded to people who are reacting negatively to her announcement on social media.

UPDATE

Chrissy Teigen says she actually didn't have a miscarriage in 2020 like she said ... she now says she actually had an abortion, but didn't realize that's what she did until recently.

Chrissy spoke Thursday at a summit called "A day of Unreasonable Conversation" ... saying it wasn't until nearly a year later did she process the fact that she had an abortion.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

She said, "Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions. It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn’t either without any medical intervention."

Chrissy and husband John Legend announced they lost their son Jack at 20 weeks due to pregnancy complications ... calling it a miscarriage.

But, now she's backtracking all that ... "let's just call it what it was: It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance."

091622_tmz_live_chrissy_kal
AN EMOTIONAL REALIZATION

Although she wasn't specific, it seems what she's saying is that doctors advised her at around 20 weeks the baby would not survive and she would probably die as well if she carried the baby to term. So, it sounds like doctors may have induced birth, knowing the baby would not survive, which she characterized as a miscarriage.

Chrissy went on to say the decision by the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade triggered the realization.

"I fell silent, feeling weird that I hadn't made sense of it that way," Teigen shared. "I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage ... and I became really frustrated that I didn't, in the first place, say what it was, and I felt silly that it had taken me over a year to actually understand that we had had an abortion."

Chrissy and JL have 2 kids together -- Luna and Miles. The couple announced they are expecting another baby saying ... "joy has filled our home and hearts again."

Kanye West Donda Academy Makes Families Sign NDAs

Published | Updated

Some parents whose kids are enrolled in Kanye West's Donda Academy claim they're being forced to sign non-disclosure agreements ... but Ye says that's all just hype, this according to a new report.

Two families sat down with Rolling Stone and spilled the beans about the non-disclosures, which are apparently in place to keep a tight lid on things that go on at the school. In the RS article, the families were unnamed and did not provide details on the hush-hush agreements.

But, one of Kanye's consultants, Tamar Andrews, reportedly fired back, saying only parents put their sigs on the forms and insisted the entire process was informal ... whatever that means.

"Honestly, we don't care if people know about the school," Andrews told RS.

He goes on ... "The people that want to come to the school are looking for a good Christian school in that area and they know that we're there ... there is also a certain notoriety that comes with being affiliated with Donda. So, I don't know that we have to advertise, which is a blessing and a curse."

Ye launched the private Christian school in 2022, catering to pre-K to 12th-grade students. Only about 100 students attend Donda Academy, which is not accredited.

Who are these students? Well, that's still a mystery. And, it's hard to piece together who the teachers are. According to the Donda site ... the mission is to motivate its students to "grow in their faith and community through daily all-school worship and celebration at Sunday Service."

Anne Heche Family Fight Over Estate Heats Up

UPDATE
UPDATE

6:30 PM PT -- An attorney for Anne's older son, Homer, tells TMZ ... "We prefer to see the estate administration play out in court and not in the media, as our legal documents speak for themselves."

UPDATE

Homer's lawyer, Bryan Phipps, adds ... "The court appointing Homer special administrator today supports that decision."

Some of Anne Heche's family members are duking it out in court over the late actress' estate ... and it's getting nasty.

Here's the deal ... Anne, who had 2 sons with 2 different men, died without a will and her oldest son, 20-year-old Homer Laffoon, wants to run the estate. He also wants his younger half-brother, 13-year-old Atlas Heche Tupper, and himself listed as Anne's sole heirs.

That would've been clean and simple, but enter James Tupper -- Anne's former "Men In Trees" co-star and Atlas' father says Anne wanted him to be in charge of her estate.

According to new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, James claims Anne emailed him and 2 other people a copy of her will back in 2011, when they were still dating. James says in the email Anne stated she nominated him as the executor of her will so he could carry out her financial wishes.

Meanwhile, Homer's recently doubled down on allegations James is trying to manipulate him ... with Homer claiming he can't get in touch with his half-brother because James is controlling Atlas' phone.

James is firing back in this latest legal filing ... claiming Homer "is not suitable" to run the estate, claiming he's only 20, is unemployed, dropped out of school and was estranged from Anne at the time of her death.

What's more, James claims he's trying to meet up with Homer, but says he's being ghosted ... and James also accuses Homer of locking him and Atlas out of Anne's house as soon as she died.

As we reported ... Anne lost consciousness shortly after last month's car crash and never regained it, dying from her injuries days later in a hospital from thermal injuries and smoke inhalation.

Serena & Venus Williams Childhood Home Headed For Auction ... Worth $1.42 Million

Published | Updated

Serena and Venus Williams' childhood home in Florida -- where the tennis greats lived as teenagers with father Richard Williams -- is set to hit the auction block this month after 5 years of fighting in court ... and will now go to the highest bidder.

The 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath home in Palm Beach Gardens -- estimated to be worth around $1.42 million -- is scheduled to be auctioned off in late September ... after Richard's 43-year-old ex, Lakeisha, failed to keep up with the payments.

The home, which was built in the 1980s, has fallen into disrepair over the years.

According to the notice of sale, the house will go to "the highest and best bidder for cash.”

Venus and Serena moved to the house as teenagers after Richard purchased the property, which features two tennis courts on its 10+ acre lot. It's pretty cool ... it's the court where "King Richard" trained his daughters.

Of course, the girls went on to become two of the greatest tennis players -- and athletes, period -- that the world has ever seen.

Their story was told in the hit movie, "King Richard," where Will Smith portrayed Richard Williams.

Serena, after a run at the U.S. Open earlier this month, retired from tennis after winning 23 majors.

The tennis superstar recently left the door open when asked if there was a chance she may play again in the future.

Clemson DT Bryan Bresee Sister Dies Of Brain Cancer ... 15 Years Old

Published

Clemson defensive tackle Bryan Bresee will be playing games this season with a heavy heart ... he just revealed his sister, Ella, has tragically died following a battle with brain cancer.

She was just 15 years old.

"My beautiful sister Ella you amazed me every single day with the fight that you put up and how joyful you were constantly through this battle," Bresee wrote on his social media page Thursday morning. "Never did I think I would be sitting here today saying bye to you."

Ella was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in 2021. Bresee and the Tigers had shown support for her throughout her fight with the disease -- with the defensive lineman leading the Tiger Walk last weekend while he and his teammates wore "Ella Strong" shirts.

In announcing her passing, Bryan thanked Ella for "bringing happiness to not only me but so many people," saying she's "the best sister a brother could ask for."

"I know for a fact heaven has gained a beautiful angel today, Love you forever and always Ella bear.❤️"

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

Ella was originally supposed to attend the Clemson vs. Furman game on Saturday, according to the Associated Press, but had a setback and went to the hospital instead.

Coach Dabo Swinney said Bresee could miss this weekend's game against Louisiana Tech on Saturday night while he's away from the team with his family.

"He's got more important things that he needs to focus on right now than football," Swinney told reporters. "Lot more important things than the game of football for that young man right now."

Bresee -- a native of Maryland -- is in his third season with the Tigers and has 6 total tackles in 2 games this season.

Nick Cannon Surprise, Baby #9 Arrives!!! #10 and #11 On Deck

Published | Updated

Nick Cannon is gonna have a "Game of Thrones" situation in about 50 years -- he's just welcomed a surprise (to the world, anyway) birth of a daughter, his 9th child, with model LaNisha Cole.

It feels like it was just yesterday -- it was actually a couple months ago -- we were congratulating Nick on baby #8, but he proudly announced Wednesday night he and LaNisha welcomed Onyx Ice Cole Cannon's arrival ... and the little girl's really got daddy thinking.

Nick's clearly getting fed up with jokes about his rapidly-growing brood because he said, "As we all know I am not easily triggered and have quite tough skin and have always been an open book but not everyone in my family has that same level of strength. So I pray and ask others to please project all criticism and cynicism towards ME and not the loving and precious Mothers of my children."

Nick and LaNisha were, at least publicly, linked in early 2017, but broke up shortly after that. While the model -- who'd been on "The Price Is Right" for 8 seasons -- hasn't been hiding her pregnancy, she didn't reveal Nick was the father.

Anyway, Papa C is overjoyed, and says "I vow to protect, provide, guide and love this child to the best of my abilities."

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

Ok, grab your scorecards: We're already expecting 2 more announcements from Nick before we hit 2023! We know Brittany Bell -- with whom he already has 2 kids -- is expecting their third, because she and Nick did a pregnancy photo shoot together last month.

Also, Abby De La Rosa, is due next month and that will also be her third child with Nick.

As a quick refresher ... Nick and Bre Tiesi had their first in July.

The bottom line is double-digit fatherhood by Christmastime. To borrow a phrase ... Santa Claus ain't got nothing on Nick!!!

Jesse Williams Runs Back to Court Over Custody ... And Another Broadway Run

Published | Updated

Jesse Williams is doing back-to-back seasons on Broadway, and because of some apparent fighting with his ex-wife over the custody arrangement for their kids ... he's now asking a judge to step in.

The actor filed new legal docs that seek to change the custody order that was agreed to earlier this year when he was starting his Spring run for the baseball play "Take Me Out," when he and Aryn Drake-Lee settled on him having his kids 4 consecutive days a month in NYC.

In the paperwork, obtained by TMZ, Jesse is asking to tweak that a bit ... seeing how he's going back to Broadway in the fall for yet another outing in the production. He wanted the same deal -- 4 consecutive days/month -- starting in October ... but says Aryn refused to play ball, so he's going to court over it and wants a few other tweaks.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

For the month of October, Jesse is requesting he get his kids in the Big Apple for 4 days between Oct. 7 through Oct. 12 -- as well as 4 days through the Thanksgiving break ... and wants a similar arrangement to continue through January.

Now, you'd think that'd be A-OK since both he and Aryn signed off on a very similar arrangement back in March ... but, unfortunately, Jesse's saying they're fighting again over the dates for this go-around -- with him alleging that Aryn's refusing his requests.

Namely, he claims she'll only agree to his dates ... just so long as the kids aren't forced to head to New York, which is a no-go for Jesse, since that's where he's living at the moment.

Essentially, he's saying Aryn's being unreasonable and trying to enforce conditions that'll deprive him of seeing his children for nearly 2 months -- and now wants a judge to weigh in.
