Mayar made a total of 42 appearances for the University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks over the two seasons he spent on the squad.

The athlete's drowning happened while he was swimming at a reservoir in Herriman, Utah, just southwest of Salt Lake City, according to The Athletic.

Mayar and a friend reportedly began to experience difficulty staying above water, and while his friend was able to make it back to shore, the basketball player didn't make it out, even with the assistance of bystanders.

Rescue crews arrived at the scene and reportedly searched for the athlete for hours before a submersible robot located his body at 10:40 PM, and he was officially pronounced dead 20 minutes later.

Mayar's friend was hospitalized, and he's expected to recover from the ordeal.

Mayar's death shook the athletic community, and his loss was noted by various individuals and organizations he'd worked with in the past.

University of Nebraska Omaha Basketball Head Coach Chris Crutchfield issued a statement saying he and the rest of the team were "devastated" when they learned of the drowning, according to the New York Post.

Crutchfield also described Mayar as "a joy to be around" and stated the athlete's involvement with the Mavericks "made our culture better."

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past decade or so, you know Taylor Swift is one of the biggest pop stars right now -- and of all time, it turns out -- and she's certainly built herself a solid fanbase over the years!

Shellback eventually began collaborating with Max Martin -- who's got a history of his own with Swift -- and started working in the pop music scene as a producer and songwriter.

He racked up a healthy amount of hit tracks as a co-songwriter in the 2010s -- like Pink's "Raise Your Glass" and Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" ... long story short, the guy's got a knack for writing catchy tunes.

Shellback began working with Swift in 2012, and he helped write the smash hit tracks "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," "I Knew You Were Trouble," and "22" ... all of which were featured on her album "Red," which he co-produced.

The producer became one of the singer's frequent collaborators, and they worked together on numerous occasions over the course of the decade.

The football player made quite the impression on various institutions over the course of his high school career -- and he ended up having to pick between a few universities while figuring out where he would make the biggest impact on the field.

LaNorris attended South Florence High School in South Carolina and was involved with the school's soccer and football programs.

The athlete helped lead the team to the S.C. High School League Class 4A championship game in 2022, where they came out on top over Northwestern High School.

Coach Drew Marlowe spoke about Sellers' performance at the matchup in an interview with SCNow, where he described the athlete as "unbelievable" and claimed the then-high schooler was "the best player in the state."

Sellers remained a bit more down-to-earth about the victory, stating the team "just had to execute" on the field.

The athlete naturally attracted attention from recruiters over the length of his high school career, and he flip-flopped between institutions before landing on his final choice.

Although Sellers received offers from institutions like Virginia Tech and Washington State, he appeared to make up his mind in July 2021, when he committed to the University of Virginia, according to 247 Sports.

But then he received an offer to commit to Syracuse University the following January, and he decommitted from Virginia that same month.

Sellers waited two more months before deciding to officially commit to Syracuse -- but then he decommitted from Syracuse in December 2022, after he received an offer from the University of South Carolina ... where he ultimately attended.

Sellers' debut with the University of South Carolina's Gamecocks took place in January 2023, and he ended up making three appearances as a true freshman, according to the school's official website.

The quarterback made waves throughout the college football world in September 2024, when he made a 75-yard score against Louisian State, which proved to be the longest touchdown run by a quarterback in S.C.'s history.

Oh, and in case you were worried about his sports life affecting his grades ... he's made it onto the SEC's Fall Academic Honor Roll -- twice!

Robbie Brewer's career as a stock car driver came to a tragic end on August 9, 2025, when he died after crashing into a wall during a race at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The tragedy grew worse in the days following the event, when it was revealed the driver had actually suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel before the collision.

We're going to look into the background of the late competitor and go over the events of his final time on the track.

Brewer had been involved in racing events for more than three decades, and his first career start on a racetrack took place in 1990, according to ESPN.

The driver racked up a total of 311 Bowman Gray starts, split between the track's Stadium Stock, Sportsman and Tour Type Modified divisions, according to CBS Sports.

Brewer earned himself a track championship in 2011 in the Sportsman competition, and he had a total of 11 career victories at Bowman Gray.

The competitor also appeared in various 602 Modified races in the region surrounding Winston-Salem.

Brewer's final event was part of a Sportsman Division race at Bowman Gray Stadium.

The racer was coming up to a restart with four laps to go in what was the first of two 20-lap features.

However, the competitor's car veered when he reportedly experienced a heart attack, according to Short Track Scene ... and the car crashed head-on into a wall, rolling to a halt near the finish line.

Emergency crew workers cut Brewer out of the wrecked car, and he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

A spectator spoke to the New York Post and said racing fans descended into "silence and reverence" after the crash. The racing fan recalled seeing several individuals "clearly praying" after the horrific wreck.

Brewer's daughter Courtney made an official announcement about her father's death on her Facebook account Sunday, writing she wasn't the only one who'd lost "a best friend," according to the New York Post.

Candace Parker's made plenty of connections over her time in professional basketball ... and it looks like the strongest of the bunch is with her wife Anna Petrakova.

The athletes went from playing on the same team to tying the knot and starting a family -- all within a decade!

We're going to take a look into Petrakova's past and see how her love story with the former WNBA star has played out.

Petrakova's originally from Russia, and she moved to the United States at the age of 17 to play basketball at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

The athlete, whose older sister also attended the institution, was inducted into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.

Following her graduation from the university, Petrakova returned to Russia and began a career in basketball, and she played for several teams throughout her professional life.

She was also a member of the Russian women's national basketball team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, which took fourth place.

Petrakova and Parker first met while they were both playing for the Russian professional basketball team UMMC Ekaterinburg, where Parker played from 2010 until 2015.

Parker was previously married to former NBA player Shelden Williams, and they welcomed a daughter named Lailaa prior to their divorce, which was finalized in 2016.

Petrakova and Parker grew close while competing together, and although they "denied" their connection at first, they eventually began dating, according to Time.

Petrakova described accepting the idea of having a relationship with another woman as a "long, hard process" -- although it evidently worked out.
