How Kevin Gates Started A Family -- And Worked With -- His Estranged Wife Dreka

Published | Updated

It looks like Kevin Gates might not need two phones anymore ... because his "one for the love" could be silent for a while.

We revealed the rapper's now-estranged wife Dreka filed for divorce in July 2025, and she cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind the split.

We're going to take a look at the background of the performer's former partner and see what happened in the months leading up to their split.

Kevin and Dreka Were Together for Decades

Kevin and Dreka started dating at some point around 2003, as evidenced by an Instagram post Dreka shared of the two in 2020, where she claimed they'd been together for "17 years" at that point.

Kevin and Dreka -- who's an entrepreneur -- eventually decided to make things between them official, and they tied the knot in October 2015.

The rapper and his partner started a family with the birth of their first child, Islah, in 2012, and they welcomed a son named Khaza two years later.

Oh yeah, and Kevin actually named his debut album after his daughter, and his third album after his son -- how's that for a proud dad?

Dreka Was Her Husband's Business Partner

So we know Kevin and Dreka had a long personal relationship ... and it turns out they had a professional one as well!

The former couple co-founded a record label -- Bread Winners' Association -- in 2010 ... and most of the rapper's releases have been through the imprint.

In addition to her involvement with the label, Dreka worked as her now-estranged husband's booking manager, stepping down from her role in 2022.

The businesswoman has her own professional interests outside the music industry, as she's worked on various projects in the skincare and cannabis industries.

Brittany Renner Was Married To Kevin ... For 52 Days

The thing is, Dreka wasn't the only woman in Kevin's life, as he was married to reality television star Brittany Renner -- for just a few weeks!

The rapper and Renner -- a model and media figure -- were first linked in April 2025 when they went Instagram official with their relationship ... and she referred to him as her "huzband" in a post she shared the following month.

However, Kevin and Brittany only remained together for several weeks, as she claimed they were married from April 6 to May 28 in an interview with Real 92.3 LA ... and added she didn't feel as if their split had been a "sucky situation."

The "Basketball Wives" star stated she had "followed my heart" over the course of her marriage to the rapper, in which she "gave 100 percent" of herself to their relationship.

How Didarul Islam's Loss Was Felt Across New York City

Published

The Midtown Manhattan mass shooting of July 28 sent shockwaves throughout New York City, and much of the metropolis has come together in support of the victims of the attack.

One of the individuals who was gunned down in the violent incident was NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, whose family has taken his loss especially hard.

We're going to take a look into the background of the late law enforcement figure and see why he's been described as a "hero" in the wake of his death.

Islam Was An Immigrant From Bangladesh

Islam immigrated to the United States from Bangladesh and settled in The Bronx, where he lived with his family in the Parkchester neighborhood, according to abc7NY.

The officer had been with the NYPD for three and a half years at the time of the shooting, and he was assigned to the city's 47th Precinct.

The cop was off-duty and was working a private security detail assignment at the time of the heinous attack, which marked the first time an NYPD officer of Bangladeshi descent was killed in the line of duty.

Islam was wearing his NYPD uniform and was reportedly carrying his service weapon when Shane Tamura carried out the shooting.

Islam's Family Was Greatly Affected By His Passing

While Islam's loss was felt throughout New York City, it hit hardest with his immediate family, which includes his wife and two young sons, according to CBS News New York.

Even more heartbreaking is the fact that Islam's wife was pregnant with the couple's third child at the time of the shooting.

Islam's cousin Muhammad Mainul Islam spoke to CBS News after the officer's death was shared with the public, and he said the late cop's father suffered a stroke after he learned about what happened to his son.

Congregants of Parkchester Jame Masjid mosque, where the law enforcement officer and his family attended prayer services, have also been affected by his loss.

Islam Has Been Called A 'Hero' Following His Passing

Islam's death was marked with numerous tributes from various figures, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams and NY Governor Kathy Hochul, both of whom directed flags to fly at half-staff in memory of the fallen officer.

Adams spoke about Islam at a news conference following the shooting and stated the cop "embodies what this city is all about."

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described Islam as a "hero" who "made the ultimate sacrifice" for the residents of New York City.

A dignified transfer of the late officer's body from the medical examiner's office to a mosque in Parkchester was carried out on Tuesday, during which NYPD officers and FDNY personnel saluted the vehicle carrying his body as it went through the city's streets.

One of the people caught up in the harrowing attack was Wesley LePatner, who was confirmed dead when the dust settled.

We're going to check out the background of the victim of the unfortunate incident and see how her colleagues and families have reacted to her passing.

Blackstone issued a statement following the executive's passing in which she was described as "deeply respected within our firm."

LePatner Headed Blackstone's Women's Initiative

In addition to her work in Blackstone's real estate sector, LePatner was the head of the company's Women's Initiative, which served to develop programs focused on gender inclusion within the firm.

The Met's CEO, Max Hollein, provided Business Insider with a statement about LePatner's death, describing her as "a person of deep intellect and warmth."

The businesswoman also served on the board of the The Abraham Joshua Heschel School, as well as the UJA-Federation of New York.

LePatner's involvement with the UJA also saw her lead a solidarity mission to Israel, which took place after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks.

She Left Behind A Husband And Two Children

The executive left behind a family, which she started with her husband Evan, whom she met on her first day at Yale, according to the Daily Mail.

LePatner is survived by her parents, her spouse and their two children.

The late businesswoman's family released a statement following her death, saying they "cannot properly express the grief" they've experienced, according to the New York Post.

What To Know About Manhattan Shooter Shane Tamura

Published | Updated

Midtown Manhattan was plunged into panic on the evening of July 28, 2025, when a lone gunman entered a Park Avenue skyscraper and opened fire, killing four people and wounding another individual ... before the shooter died by suicide, ending the rampage.

The suspect in the incident was identified as Shane Tamura, who allegedly drove across the country in order to carry out the shocking attack.

We're going to take a look at the background of the gunman and see what led up to the violent incident.

Tamura Was a Well-Liked High School Football Player

Tamura spent his teenage years in Southern California, where he attended Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita before transferring to Granada Hills Charter High School.

The suspect joined the latter school's football team, and its former assistant coach, Walter Roby, described him to Fox 11 as "a quiet, hard worker" who led others through "his actions on the field."

One of Tamura's former classmates and teammates, Caleb Clarke, claimed the suspect was "a jokester" in high school and added he "never would have thought violence was something you’d associate with" the alleged suspect in their early years, according to NBC News.

Clarke said a future in athletics was "definitely on the table" for his former classmate, who had apparently become aware of his peers "telling him how great he was."

Tamura Worked as a Security Guard ... and Had a Handgun Permit

Tamura entered the security industry after leaving high school, and he later moved to Las Vegas, where he was employed in the surveillance department at the Horseshoe Hotel and Casino at the time he undertook his trip to NYC, according to ABC News.

The suspect had a concealed firearms permit, which was found at the scene of the shooting. It was issued in 2022, and it was set to expire in 2027.

He also received a private-investigator license in Nevada in 2019 -- although it eventually expired, according to CNN.

Tamura had two Mental Health Crisis Holds in Nevada in 2022 and 2024. The holds generally allow for an individual to be held for up to 72 hours if they're found to be a potential danger to themselves or other people.

Tamura Drove Across the Country On His Way to the Shooting

Tamura's vehicle had been driven across the country prior to the mass shooting, and a BMW he exited in Manhattan was registered in his name in Nevada.

The car passed through Colorado on Saturday, July 26, made it to Iowa the following day ... and it was in Columbia, New Jersey just a few hours before the shootings.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated officials found a loaded revolver, ammunition, a rifle case with rounds, and multiple magazines in the vehicle, according to the New York Post.

In addition to the weapon and the ammunition, medication prescribed to Tamura was also found in the car.

Tamura Claimed He Suffered From the Effects of CTE

Police found Tamura had a note on him claiming he'd been suffering from the effects of CTE, or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, according to the New York Post.

The disease is typically found in individuals with lengthy histories of repeated head impacts, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Tamura made a reference to former NFL player Terry Long, who was posthumously diagnosed with the condition after drinking antifreeze, in his note, where he also claimed the league "failed us."

Tamura alleged the NFL "knowingly concealed the dangers to our brains to maximize profits" despite having never played professional football at any point in the past.

The suspect claimed the NFL would "squash" anyone who attempted to "go against" it, and made a request for his brain to be examined for signs of CTE.

Who Is Bradford Gille? What To Know About The Suspect In The Walmart Stabbings

Published

The state of Michigan was shocked to its core when a stabbing attack was carried out at a Walmart location in Traverse City in late July 2025.

Although the attack ended quickly and without any fatalities, the legal troubles for the suspected attacker, Bradford James Gille, are just beginning.

We're going to check out the background of the individual suspected of carrying out the heinous incident and see what kind of consequences he's looking at.

Gille's Racked Up a Few Offenses in His Past

Gille lives in Afton, Michigan, in Cheboygan County, according to Michigan's MLive.com.

The suspected attacker has been arrested several times in the past for various offenses, including misdemeanor assault and battery and drug possession.

He was also charged with malicious destruction of tombs and memorials, although his charge was dismissed after a judge found him incompetent to stand trial, according to NBC News.

Gille's reportedly done time behind bars for his past actions, as he previously served 49 days in a Florida jail on charges of vandalism.

He's Suspected of Attacking 11 Victims

The stabbing began around 4:40 PM on July 26, when Gille, who was allegedly armed with a 3.5-inch folding knife, allegedly began randomly stabbing patrons of a Walmart in Traverse City, located in the northern part of the state, about 255 miles northwest of Detroit.

A total of 11 individuals -- including six victims over the age of 60 -- were stabbed in the attack.

Several bystanders attempted to subdue the suspect outside, and Marine veteran Derrick Perry drew a gun on Gille and yelled at him to drop the knife allegedly used in the incident ... local authorities arrived and arrested Gille, according to the New York Post.

The victims were later transported to a local hospital in varying conditions, and the Associated Press reported every victim was expected to survive.

Gille Could Potentially Deal With Very Serious Charges

Michigan officials were expected to charge Gille with 11 counts of assault with intent to murder, as well as a terrorism charge.

Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Noelle Moeggenberg claimed officials believed the attack was meant to "affect the entire community."

A motive for the attack hasn't been established ... the FBI has stepped in to assist with the investigation into the incident.

Walmart issued a statement after the attack and expressed its support for "those who were injured" as well as its gratitude "for the swift action of first responders."

How Country Star Adam Mac Met His Husband Lee Pfund Through Friends

It looks like country star Adam Mac won't be writing any breakup anthems anytime soon -- because he just married his long-term partner, Lee Pfund!

The singer and his new husband tied the knot in June 2025, following a year of engagement, although he didn't let his fans know about the union for a month, when he shared a post about the ceremony on his Instagram ... gotta keep 'em guessing!

We're going to take a look into the background of the musician's spouse and see how they went from meeting through friends to planning a life together.

Lee and Adam Met Through Mutual Friends ... And Dated for Several Years

Pfund's originally from the Memphis, Tennessee area, and he holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Memphis, according to his LinkedIn.

The country singer's new husband's worn plenty of hats within the real estate industry, and he currently works as a managing broker and realtor in the Nashville area, where he moved in 2013.

Mac gave People a bit of insight into his partner's background in a 2024 sit-down and claimed Pfund "wasn't even really a country music fan" prior to attending CMA Fest in 2017.

The singer added his now-husband was won over when his mother "dragged him" to a Maren Morris show, where he "fell in love" with the genre.

Lee's a Realtor Based in Nashville

Mac's love story with Pfund began after the 2017 CMA Fest, when they met at a bar after being introduced by mutual friends.

Although the two quickly became "obsessed with each other" and moved in together, the singer claimed his now-husband wasn't exactly rushing to tie the knot.

Mac stated he, as well as Pfund, apparently "grew up knowing that it was not an option," and added marriage wasn't really on his partner's mind when they first started dating.

However, the realtor eventually changed his mind, as he proposed in January 2024, and Pfund popped the big question by having the phrase "Will you marry me?" printed on two sides of their dog's ID tag -- how's that for puppy love?!

The Country Star and His Husband Had a Destination Wedding

Mac and Pfund made things official during a wedding ceremony in Sedona, Arizona, where they'd spent time on an anniversary trip a few years prior to tying the knot, according to Us Weekly.

The singer and his husband decided to keep their ceremony intimate and "deeply personal," as they "didn’t want anything big" to mark the occasion.

The happy couple is also planning a reception for their family and friends in Nashville, set to take place later in 2025, and they're looking into honeymooning in Europe.

Mac dedicated a song, "Last Rodeo," to Pfund, and the cover art for the single, which showed him sitting next to his husband, was taken on their wedding trip to Sedona.

How Brock Davies Started A Family With - And Cheated On - Scheana Shay

Published | Updated

Scheana Shay's been through plenty throughout her reality television career, and we've seen her romance with Brock Davies blossom right in front of our eyes.

However, the Bravo star recently made a bombshell revelation about her relationship and an incident involving her now-husband that could have potentially tanked it before she made her way to the altar.

Here's a look at Davies' background and personal life ... as well as the cheating incident that wasn't revealed for several years.

Brock's A Personal Trainer And Former Professional Athlete

Davies was born in New Zealand, and he pursued a career as a professional rugby player in his early years.

Shay's husband represented Australia in international rugby competition, and he subsequently played at the professional level in both England and France.

He eventually decided to make the switch to American football, and was a walk-on at Colorado State University-Pueblo, where he ended up as the team captain, according to ESPN.

Davies earned himself a tryout with the NFL's New England Patriots, but his football prospects didn't turn out, and he began to focus on building his profile as a personal trainer.

He Began Dating Scheana After Meeting At A Music Festival

Davies and Shay met at a music festival in San Diego in September 2019, and a source told People the two were officially dating that November.

Although the pair went Instagram official with their romance in April 2020, the "Vanderpump Rules" star revealed she'd suffered a miscarriage that June.

The couple was still determined to start a family, and Shay gave birth to the pair's daughter, Summer Moon, in April of 2021.

Davies and Shay got engaged that July, and the happy couple tied the knot in Cancun, Mexico, the following August.

Brock Admitted To Infidelity ... And Spoke About It On Scheana's Podcast

But, the pair's marriage hasn't exactly been perfect, and Shay revealed her husband had been unfaithful to her in her book, "My Good Side: A Memoir," which was published in July 2025.

The infidelity took place when she was pregnant, according to Glamour, and although Davies claimed he wanted to be open with his wife about his cheating, she felt "sick to my stomach" and said she was "unable to contain my rage."

Davies spoke further about his infidelity on an episode of his wife's "Scheananigans With Scheana Shay" podcast, and expressed he'd "minimized" the effects that his cheating would have on his family while he carried on his affair.

He also described himself as "an absolute coward" while he saw another woman, although he added he'd "felt horrible about it" and characterized his initial unwillingness to discuss his actions as "another level of betrayal."

Deondre Burgin's Complicated Legal History And Love Life

Published

Skai Jackson's ex, Deondre Burgin, has found himself in trouble with the law plenty of times over the course of his life ... and his record isn't too pretty.

The father of the Disney Channel star's son has been accused of various offenses over the course of his time as a social media personality -- including a July 2025 arrest on a pair of warrants.

We're going to check out how the actress' baby daddy found himself in such hot water ... and see where their relationship stands.

Deondre Kept His Relationship With Skai Private

Burgin -- a content creator who uses the handle "Yerkky Yerkky" on social media -- and Jackson were first connected just after she revealed her pregnancy in November 2024, when he appeared to throw shade at her in a Facebook post.

The actress had previously garnered controversy after she was arrested for allegedly pushing her then-boyfriend -- who wasn't named at the time -- during a day out at Universal CityWalk in August of that year, although the charges never came from it.

The pair appeared to reconcile afterwards, and the actress defended her then-boyfriend after a Facebook post about her was shared that appeared to insult her ... as she claimed the message was posted after Burgin's account was hacked.

Burgin was later arrested in Cincinnati, Ohio, in November for parole violation, and his arrest was caught on video.

Jackson gave birth to the pair's son, Kasai, in January 2025, but Burgin wasn't present at the hospital -- he was still locked up at the time.

His Legal Troubles Continued After He Became A Father

Burgin's legal troubles continued following his November 2024 arrest, as he was arrested again the following April after a warrant for his arrest was issued for failing to display a license plate on his vehicle and missing his court date.

Although he eventually reunited with his son and then-partner, Jackson later filed for a restraining order in May.

In her court documents, the actress claimed Burgin attacked her on Mother's Day while she was holding Kasai, and he allegedly punched her in the face and slammed her head against a car window.

Jackson made several other troubling allegations, including her claim he wanted her to drink bleach while she was pregnant.

The actress was ultimately granted a temporary restraining order against her baby daddy.

Deondre Ended Up Behind Bars In 2025

Burgin found himself in the arms of the law again in July 2025, when he was arrested while scrubbing down a car in Kentucky.

The social media figure apparently got a ticket in March after he failed to reinstate his driver's license and had his license plate improperly displayed, and he had a warrant issued for his arrest after he skipped his court date in May.

And it turns out -- he actually had a second arrest warrant put out in June after he was allegedly involved in a carjacking that took place in Cincinnati.

According to a police report, Burgin and a suspected accomplice confronted a man near his parked Mercedes, and the individual allegedly had a gun pulled on him and was pistol-whipped ... although it was unclear if the social media personality was directly involved in any of the alleged violence.

Joe Rogan's had plenty of guests on "The Joe Rogan Experience" over the years, including some of the biggest names in politics and media.

We're going to take a look at the comedian's background and see what he's accomplished ... as well as how Rogan assisted in his growth.

McCann's Worked As A Comedian And Writer

McCann hails from Adelaide, Australia, and first made a name for himself with audiences in his home country through appearances at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in the late 2010s.

In addition to his work on stage, he's worked as a television writer and wrote for several shows produced in Australia, according to his website.

He's been featured in various Australian publications, and he's published three books of poetry ... the most recent was released in 2024.

McCann's collaborated with various comedians over the course of his career and he went on the road as the opener for comedian Mark Normand in 2023.

He Moved To The United States To Pursue Comedy

McCann eventually made a move to the United States to further pursue his dreams in comedy, and he settled in Austin, Texas, in 2024.

He began raising his profile through various podcast appearances, and he was featured on programs including "Matt And Shane's Secret Podcast" and "Stuff Island," among others.

The comedian has also worked on his own podcast, titled "The James Donald Forbes McCann Catamaran Plan," which premiered in 2021.

McCann's career received a serious boost when he was featured in several episodes of the wildly popular comedy series "Kill Tony," and his debut on the program took place in 2024.

James Told Joe He Helped Change His Life

Although McCann's appearance on Rogan's podcast saw the two bounce from topic to topic, their conversation ended on a heartfelt note, as McCann showed his gratitude toward the host for setting up Rogan's Austin club, Comedy Mothership, and allowing "Kill Tony" to be taped at the location.

The performer confessed he was "poor" and "had no opportunities" during the early stages of his comedy career, and he credited Rogan's club with providing him with the chance to get exposure for his work.

McCann added he'd been able to "pay my rent on time," and said his rise had been "very, very strange" and unexpected -- in a good way, of course.

The comedian then told Rogan he'd effectively "changed my life" through his participation in the program.

Livingstone College's president Anthony Davis commended McNeil for showing restraint, and said the young man frequently volunteered in his community on weekends.

McNeill's stepfather Alton claimed he'd "been through what he’s been through" as a young man, and he was greatly distressed to see his stepson undergo a similar experience with law enforcement.

McNeil was pulled over by deputies on February 19, 2025, for allegedly not having his headlights on while driving in the rain, and for allegedly not wearing his seat belt. He opened his door to talk to the first deputy, explaining his window was broken and wouldn't roll down.

He then closed the door and locked himself in the car, and had a verbal exchange with the deputies about the necessity of the traffic stop, and he asked if the law regarding headlight use could be verified before asking to see the deputies' supervisor. He pointed out it wasn't raining.

A deputy, later identified as Officer D. Bowers, then smashed McNeil's window and punched him in the face before the other deputies dragged him out of the car and pulled him to the ground, after which he was struck in the face again.

McNeil was arrested and charged with resisting an officer without resistance, as well as possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. A knife was also found in his car during a search of the vehicle after he'd been taken into custody.

Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters stated McNeil pled guilty to and was adjudicated guilty of resisting a police officer without violence, as well as driving with a suspended license.

McNeil Received Several Injuries As A Result Of His Arrest

McNeil was left with a busted lip after the arrest, which required several stitches to patch up, according to CBS News.

He also claimed one of his teeth ended up chipped, and he said he suffered both a concussion and short-term memory loss from the incident.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office issued a statement to confirm it was investigating the incident after the video went viral, although the office added the Florida State's Attorney's Office had determined "none of the involved officers violated criminal law" when McNeil was arrested.

Waters also revealed Bowers had been stripped of his duty while an internal investigation was being completed, although he didn't make any comments regarding the deputy's behavior during the arrest.

Body camera footage from the event was later released, and Waters claimed McNeil's viral video "does not comprehensively capture the circumstances surrounding this incident."

McNeil's Still Experiencing 'Trauma' Related To The Incident

McNeil has said he was still feeling shock from the arrest in an interview with ABC News, where he claimed he hadn't driven his car for an extended period of time.

He also stated he "can't get sleep at night because of trauma," which resulted in frequent "flashbacks and nightmares."

McNeil has since retained the services of civil rights attorney Ben Crump to represent him as he explores his legal options regarding the arrest.

Crump spoke to us and claimed the incident was a case of "driving while Black" and called on the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to "immediately terminate" the officer who punched McNeil.

The civil rights attorney also described the unfortunate incident as a "21st-century Rosa Parks moment."

How Chris Hughes Ended Up With A Professional Dancer

Published

JoJo Siwa's garnered plenty of attention throughout her career -- and not all of it's been for her dancing skills!

The multi-talented performer's love life has played out in the public eye for several years, and she met her new man, Chris Hughes, in front of TV audiences ... it's funny how life works out sometimes!

We're going to look into the background of the dancer's boyfriend ... and check out how she ruffled more than a few feathers after they started dating.

Chris Made A Name For Himself On Love Island

Hughes was first introduced to the public after he appeared on the third series of "Love Island," and he ended up in third place alongside his then-partner, Olivia Attwood.

The two starred in a spinoff series, "Chris & Olivia: Crackin' On," although it only ran for a single season, and they ended up splitting in 2018.

Hughes has since embarked on a career as a television presenter, and he has hosted coverage of various horse racing events in his native UK.

And if it wasn't apparent already, he's pretty used to dating in the public eye ... as he was in a relationship with Little Mix member Jesy Nelson, although they split up in April 2020.

He Met JoJo On 'Celebrity Big Brother'

Hughes and Siwa met while appearing in the 24th season of "Celebrity Big Brother UK," and many viewers took notice of the pair's chemistry while they competed for the show's grand prize.

The professional dancer was in a relationship with Australian DJ Kath Ebbs while the show was being filmed, although her former partner claimed they were dumped by the singer at the season's afterparty.

Siwa later denied Hughes had been the reason behind her split from Ebbs on an episode of "The Viall Files," although he didn't exactly play it cool when he brought the dancer flowers after picking her up at Heathrow Airport in May 2025.

Any further speculation about the state of the pair's relationship was set aside the following month, when he shared a selfie showing him planting a kiss on her forehead as they relaxed in bed.

JoJo's Been Open About Her Affection For Chris

Hughes and Siwa have been very open about their relationship ever since then, as they've appeared in numerous photos on each other's Instagram accounts.

The dancer also slammed the door on any rumors regarding the veracity of her relationship with the television figure while speaking with The Guardian, and stated she and Hughes were "not platonic anymore" before describing herself as "head over heels" in love with him.

She then claimed her cheeks had "been in pain from smiling so much" about her new romance with Hughes.

The television personality did have to go through another major check, however -- and he got the seal of approval from her former dance instructor Abby Lee Miller after Siwa insisted they meet up, and he described their interaction as "tougher than the mom test!"

How Alec Van Khajadourian Played At Carnegie Hall ... At Just 5 Years Old

Published

Carnegie Hall's seen plenty of world-class performers come and go across its stage ... and had its potentially youngest performer in its history make his debut in July 2025.

Piano player Alec Van Khajadourian made plenty of waves for his performance at the venue, although much of the attention wasn't only due to his impressive playing -- it went to his age, as the performer's only 5 years old!

Here's a look into the background of the piano prodigy, as well as a few reasons why he was invited to perform on one of the most prestigious stages in the world.

Alec Developed Perfect Pitch At An Early Age

One of the chief reasons Alec made it to Carnegie Hall in NYC is his sense of perfect pitch, which enables him to identify musical notes just by hearing them, according to ABC7.

The ability, which only occurs in about 1 in 10,000 people, helped him develop prowess on the piano "real fast," according to his father Joe.

Alec's father recalled how his son "would walk over to the piano when he first started walking" and seemed to take to the instrument, as he would display "a huge grin on his face" while playing.

Joe also spoke about how his son "immediately showed some real promise" -- how's that for a proud parent?

Alec's Played During Various Competitions

Alec's parents aren't the only ones who've recognized his talents, as he's taken home first prize in various musical competitions over the course of his time as a piano player.

The prodigy's showed off his skills at contests all over the country, and he earned himself a bit of hometown pride after coming out on top at the 2025 Los Angeles Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, according to the New York Post.

Alec's time at Carnegie Hall took place as part of the NY Classical Debut Awards Gala Concert, which saw him perform alongside other kids from 10 different countries, although he was the youngest of the lot.

While the Gala's founder and artistic director, Pietro Molteni, described the musician as the "youngest performer in the history of Carnegie Hall," representatives for the venue couldn't confirm the claim, as they didn't have records from its earliest days.

Alec's Still Just A Kid -- Despite His Achievements

Despite his prowess on the piano, Alec's still just a 5-year-old kid, and his parents have spoken about not pressuring him to devote himself to the instrument.

Joe described his son -- despite his dedication to practicing the piano -- as "still very much just a goofy 5-year-old" while speaking with ABC7, and said neither he nor his wife put pressure on Alec to succeed as a musician.

Joe also admitted he and his wife "laugh sometimes when he's jamming," as they're
"not able to believe he's able to do that."

The performer's father concluded by expressing his support for Alec's musical pursuits, adding, "as long as he's happy and enjoys doing it, we'll let him keep doing it."

How Pete DeJoy Ended Up As The Interim CEO Of Astronomer

Published

Former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron launched himself into the zeitgeist when he was apparently caught embracing the company's Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot, at a Coldplay concert in July 2025.

The tech executive made a fast exit from the company after a video of the incident went viral, and he's been replaced by interim CEO Pete DeJoy.

We're going to check out how the new head of the company's got plans for its future ... and see how he feels about Byron's now-infamous catch on camera.

DeJoy Was Brought In After Byron Resigned From Astronomer

DeJoy signed on following Byron's resignation from Astronomer ... just days after the video of Byron and Cabot went viral.

A statement regarding his departure from the company was shared at the time, in which Astronomer expressed its standards of "conduct and accountability" expected of its higher-ups "were not met."

Also mentioned in the statement was Byron's resignation being accepted by the company's board of directors, as well as DeJoy's placement as Astronomer's interim CEO.

The company concluded by acknowledging its bad turn of luck in the press and expressed it would continue to focus on working with clients on data and A.I.-related issues.

DeJoy Called The Spotlight On Astronomer 'Surreal'

DeJoy helped co-found Astronomer in 2017, and he started serving as its chief product officer in 2025, according to his LinkedIn.

The entrepreneur -- who holds bachelor's degrees in chemistry and physics from Bowdoin College -- formerly acted as the company's vice president for product.

DeJoy shared a statement of his own regarding his placement as interim CEO on his LinkedIn, and described the attention surrounding Byron's actions as "unusual and surreal for our team."

However, the entrepreneur described himself as taking on "a wholehearted commitment to taking care of our people and delivering for our customers" at the end of his statement.

The Entrepreneur Reacted To A Post Regarding 'Memes' Of Byron

DeJoy's aware of the jokes that have popped up at Byron's expense in the days since he was caught at the concert, and he liked a post regarding said jokes that was shared by former Astronomer team member Zachary Hensley, according to the New York Post.

In the post, Hensley admitted he had "laughed at the memes" and had "shared a few" about the former CEO's behavior ... although he added he was still "rooting" for everyone else at Astronomer.

He also spoke about the dedication of everyone at Astronomer, and said he still had "love" for the company's staff.

Hensley later shared a separate post about DeJoy signing on as the company's interim CEO, and described the entrepreneur as "amazing."
