Kim Jong-un proved to everyone that the stories about his death were greatly exaggerated ... that is, if you believe the state-run media in N. Korea.
A government-run newspaper published photos of the dictator at a factory opening in North Korea ... the paper claims the photos were taken Saturday in Korea.
Kim had not been seen in public for nearly 3 weeks, and there were reports in Japan and China he was dead. Other media outlets claimed he was gravely ill.
Various United States government departments are investigating. It appears so far, the U.S. hasn't been able to nail down the location of the factory or the date the photos were taken.
One of the reasons the stories have persisted ... Kim's sister seems to have assumed a larger role in the government and the talk there is ... she'd succeed Kim, at least in the short term. BTW ... she's even more dictatorial than him ... if that's even possible.
7:21 PM PT -- Joe is home and recovering! He says he has "a severe head injury and some chest trauma" but is looking good, and is appreciating the positive vibes everyone is sending his way.
UPDATE
Here's to a speedy recovery!
Joe Pantoliano is in a Connecticut hospital after he was struck by a car while out for a walk ... TMZ has learned.
Joe's wife, Nancy, tells TMZ ... the 'Sopranos' star was walking with family Friday in their neighborhood when a Porsche skidded across the road and hit him. She says the Porsche had been t-boned by another car.
Nancy says Joe was sent flying a couple feet backward into an old wooden fence. He suffered a gash on his head, plus injuries to his left leg and a shoulder.
EMTs quickly arrived and rushed Joe to a hospital where he's being treated and waiting on the results of a CT scan.
The good news ... Joe's wife thinks he's going to pull through. We're also told both drivers in the crash stayed at the scene, and police are investigating.
Joe posted a video of a rainbow in his neighborhood Friday, and family members say that was shot shortly before his walk.
Again, sounds like Joe got super lucky ... so the rainbow is pretty appropriate.
Joe played Ralph Cifaretto on 'Sopranos' from 2001 to '04. He also played Captain Howard in the 'Bad Boys' flicks ... and costarred in huge movies like "The Matrix," "Memento," and "Risky Business."
More importantly, he's just a really good guy. Here's to a speedy recovery.
Sam Lloyd -- best known for playing kooky lawyer Ted Buckland on "Scrubs" -- has died.
Lloyd was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in January 2019 -- just weeks after he and his wife, Vanessa, welcomed their first child, Weston. After a year and a few months, he succumbed to the disease.
"Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence paid tribute to the actor Friday, saying ... "Thinking a lot about Sam Lloyd today. (Ted). Truly such a kind, sweet guy. He will be missed by so many."
Along with playing Ted, Lloyd was known for his roles on "Desperate Housewives," "Happy Together," "Shameless," "The West Wing" and "Modern Family." He also had guest spots on "Spin City" and "Seinfeld," and notable credits in films like "Galaxy Quest" and "Flubber."
Sam reprised his Ted character on another Lawrence show, "Cougar Town," as well.
And, get this ... the quartet he belonged to -- The Blanks, which was featured on "Scrubs" -- gained popularity from the show and toured after it ended.
The actor was also working on his own musical for over a decade before his brain tumor diagnosis -- called "With Pam & Gil."
A California gym manager says it was a mistake for Governor Gavin Newsom to close all gyms ... so he's taking the matter into his own hands.
Jacob Lewis runs The Gym in San Bernardino County, and says he's decided to defy state shutdown orders because he believes gyms are "'essential' to people’s mental and physical health."
He opened his doors Friday morning at 6 AM, and several of The Gym's members are back inside getting their pump on, and sharing workout posts on social media.
Lewis tells TMZ, he tipped off cops and local officials to his plan to reopen, and received a summons from a code enforcement official. He's blowing that off, and says he doesn't anticipate any serious trouble.
He says equipment is spaced out in order to follow social distancing guidelines, and there's disinfectant everywhere. He says the showers and saunas are closed as a precaution, adding ... "Basically right now it’s a gym with bathrooms."
Lewis says he came to the decision to reopen after a recent conversation with an older man, who confided in him that The Gym is his "home away from home," and helps him stay healthy and battle diabetes. The man told Lewis he's falling apart without the facility.
That's when Lewis had his epiphany ... "I realized I was being a BITCH!! By letting down the people that matter most to our community!! By not providing a service that helps them get through all the bull s**t! And gives them hope, strength, and health."
April Love Geary is ashamed to be from Huntington Beach because of all the "white privilege" punks, as she put it, protesting SoCal beach closures.
Robin Thicke's fiancee went off Friday on the protesters, calling them out for their utter disregard of people's health during this coronavirus pandemic. She said "it's the most white privilege bulls**t" thing she's seen.
Check out the video ... April says it's ridiculous that Black Lives Matter protesters across the country have been met by cops in riot gear, while Huntington Beach protesters -- with much less melanin -- are allowed to exercise their right to free speech. All while cops stand idly by without riot gear.
She urges protesters to keep their asses at home, and adds, "It's not that hard."
The demonstrations started after California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered the closure of all Orange County beaches, starting this weekend. Some protesters carried signs that read, "Masks don't work. My body, my choice."
As we reported ... heavily-armed protesters stormed Michigan's statehouse after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer extended the state's emergency stay-at-home order until the end of May.
No one's armed in the OC, but April's still super pissed.
There's also a giant penis on the beach in Orange County!
And, local news covered 'em both!
Here's the deal ... with California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordering the closure of all Orange County beaches, several people hit the sand Friday to protest the decision.
One excited beachgoer decided to send a message by drawing a giant design on the shore ... a giant phallus!
And, as the whole thing was being covered by the good people at KTLA, the sand schlong made the shot!
The best part of the whole thing ... the reporter talking about a "hard closure" just as they pan over the wiener.
Just last year, Tyson told Joe Rogan he cut training out of his life completely because the adrenaline rush reminded him of the old, bad Mike Tyson ... the one he was trying to forget.
But recently, Tyson has been kicking around the idea of a comeback -- telling rapper T.I. he's interested in taking some exhibition fights to raise money for charities.
"I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box 3 or 4 round exhibitions for some charities and stuff," Tyson said.
"Some charity exhibitions, make some money, help some homeless and drug-affected motherf**kers like me."
Well, he wasn't BSing ... Tyson really did strap on the gloves and he looks as explosive as ever.
Tyson hasn't fought professionally since 2005 -- but racked up a 50-6-2 record during his legendary career.
7:31 AM PT -- KC Chiefs head coach Andy Reid says he's seen the video of Breeland's arrest and has spoken to him following the incident ... but will let law enforcement handle the situation before taking any action.
Bashaud Breeland's arrest Tuesday nearly turned tragic ... terrifying video of the scene obtained by TMZ Sports shows the NFL player's face was within inches of a cop's drawn gun during the stop.
Breeland was detained at around 11 AM at a South Carolina gas station after a York County Sheriff's Office deputy says he saw the K.C. Chiefs player and 2 other men smoking weed.
The officer claims when he stopped Breeland for questioning ... the 28-year-old became combative -- and in new footage we obtained from the incident, you can see how the confrontation escalated in a hurry.
In the video, the officer attempted repeatedly to place the Chiefs cornerback in handcuffs ... but Breeland consistently refused.
At one point in the vid, you can see the cop pulled a taser on the 5'11", 195-pound defensive back ... ordering him to stop resisting.
"Put your hands behind your back or you will get tased," the officer said. "Turn around and face away from me! You'll get tased!"
Breeland, though, ignored the officers orders ... and when he wriggled away from the cop and got into his car -- things took a frightening turn.
The officer pulled his gun and put it inches from Breeland's face ... and screamed at the NFL player, "Let me see your hands! ... I'm not playing!"
Eventually, Breeland got out of the car, got on the ground and ultimately relented to the officer placing him in cuffs.
Breeland was taken to jail without further incident, police records show ... and he was booked on 4 charges, including resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
For his part, Breeland said in a now-deleted post on his social media, "I really was at a gas pump got approach by two guys police pulled up they throw something my car as police pulled up which the cop saw."
"I was the one detained wit charges that really shouldn’t be charged."
Breeland's attorneys added in a statement Wednesday, "At the time of this encounter with law enforcement, Mr. Breeland was leaving a gas station store after making a lawful purchase."
"Moments after returning to his vehicle, a 2020 Range Rover with valid temporary paper tags, law enforcement officers approached Mr. Breeland and drew their weapons. We look forward to investigating why this level of force was necessary."
They added, "Bashaud Breeland is innocent unless proven guilty. We look forward to the truth coming forward."
R. Kelly has no shame ... he's making yet another plea to the judge to let him out of jail, but this time he claims he has proof he's vulnerable to COVID-19.
The disgraced singer's lawyer filed docs, obtained by TMZ, asking the judge to release his client pending his trial and claiming the Bureau of Prisons failed to disclose Kelly's medical tests from March showing he is "likely diabetic."
In docs, Kelly's lawyer also claims the singer has high cholesterol and high blood pressure ... further putting him in a vulnerable position if he contracts the deadly coronavirus while penned up at MCC Chicago.
The judge has not yet made a decision on whether to release Kelly. TMZ broke the story ... he swung and missed TWICE last month. During Kelly's first attempt, the judge denied him saying, among other things, the singer is a flight risk. Not long after, his team made a second attempt, but again, the judge said no dice.
The judge had previously expressed concern Kelly might intimidate witnesses if he's allowed out of jail. Kelly addresses that in the new docs, referring to one of his former girlfriends who used to visit him regularly in jail and correspond with him. He says during all those visits he was well aware she is one the Jane Doe victims in his case, and still never attempted to obstruct justice.
He doesn't name her, but our Kelly sources tell us he's talking about Azriel Clary, who's now working with the prosecution. Kelly says if he had tried to intimidate her, she would have reported him to prosecutors by now.
Normally, they say the third time's a charm, but R. Kelly's a different story ... for so many reasons.
Calvin Harris is allegedly a terrible neighbor who refuses to fix a steady flow of gross, disgusting water pouring from his house ... at least that's how one pissed off neighbor sees it.
Julie Opperman is suing the famed DJ ... claiming Calvin's Bel-Air property leaks and leaks and leaks filthy water that's coating a driveway and access road to her house. She says it's so bad, car tires spin in the muddy slime.
According to the suit, obtained by TMZ, Calvin's downhill neighbor claims the sludgy mess has been oozing for nearly a year, and it's only a matter of time before it causes an accident.
Opperman says the city has cited Calvin twice for the mess, but she claims all he did was throw down some sandbags to block the flow ... and it was a band-aid fix at best.
The alleged leak isn't the only thing pissing off Ms. Opperman ... she says Calvin has also failed to fix some hefty fissures in his giant retaining walls directly above her property, thereby placing her in constant peril of serious injury. She claims the wall could collapse at any minute and crush anyone beneath it.
Opperman wants the judge to force Calvin to stop the smelly flow permanently, and build a new retaining wall. She's also suing for damages for mental and emotional distress, and loss of property values.
We reached out to Calvin's camp, but no word back yet.
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro's avoiding jail after copping a plea deal in his domestic violence case ... but he's got a long to-do list to put the case behind him for good.
The "Jersey Shore" star pled no contest to 1 count of domestic battery and 1 count of resisting arrest. No jail time for Ronnie, but he's been placed on 36 months probation and must also do 30 days of community labor in Nevada (where he lives) and donate $20k in one lump sum to the Jewish Family Services of L.A., a battered women's shelter.
It doesn't end there ... Ronnie also has to complete a 52-week domestic violence program at a court-approved agency in Nevada. He's also been ordered to only have peaceful contact with Jen Harley and obey the 3-year protective order issued in the case.
As you know ... Ortiz-Magro was initially busted for kidnapping back in October 2019 after allegedly striking Jen, wielding a knife, taking their daughter from her and then locking himself inside an Airbnb they were renting in L.A.
When cops arrived, Ronnie allegedly refused to come out so they had to bust in and tase him before placing him under arrest.
Harley allegedly suffered bruises and scrapes in the altercation, and a neighbor's surveillance footage shows her looking scared as she held Ariana and hid behind a car.
Ronnie denied the allegations, but he was still facing 7 misdemeanor charges -- domestic violence, child endangerment, brandishing a weapon, criminal threats, false imprisonment, and 2 counts of resisting arrest. But, this is now all behind him ... as long as he keeps his nose clean.
This husband will be on the couch for the rest of quarantine -- but this video of him ruining his wife's jigsaw puzzle right before she could add the final piece ... is pretty priceless.
Mr. Prankster (not his gov't name) was recording his wife as she prepared for her one shining moment -- sticking in the last piece after about 3 weeks hard labor on the puzzle.
The guy set it up perfectly, saying ... "and this is the final moment, she gets to put the final piece in ... or does she?" Then, with lightning-quick speed, he slid the whole puzzle off the table in one fell swoop. Even before it all crashed to the floor, his wife was going OFF!!!
He ran for cover in another room ... smart move, but then his wife threatened to get revenge by destroying his fishing rods.
Yep, this is where we are in lockdown life ... couples snapping over puzzles. Buckle up, folks.
Just because Beverly Hills voted to resume nose jobs and facelifts, doesn't mean plastic surgeons want to do them during a pandemic ... according to Dr.Terry Dubrow.
The "Botched" surgeon told us on "TMZ Live" Friday ... the city council's 4-1 vote this week to resume elective surgeries isn't sitting well with many of his fellow surgeons. He says they believe it's too soon, and still too risky.
Terry believes high demand from clientele tired of looking at their imperfect faces on Zoom calls will create some pressure for surgeons to take appointments. However, he says some are actually talking early retirement, rather than risking exposure to COVID-19 for someone to get a boob job.
Dr. Dubrow admits Bev Hills seems to be playing into a stereotype by deeming plastic surgery an essential activity at this point. He has a warning for anyone considering going under the knife right now. Definitely something to think about.
President Trump has found another group of "very good people" ... the gun-toting right-wing extremists who stormed the Michigan statehouse to protest coronavirus restrictions.
Trump is strongly supporting the heavily-armed protesters ... he says they are very good, very angry people who deserve a seat at the table with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Mind you, Michigan does not meet the very same federal guidelines for reopening that the President and his coronavirus task force announced last month.
Trump tweeted out his support of the rifle-clad protesters and tried to shift the onus on Whitmer, saying ... "The Governor of Michigan should give a little, and put out the fire. These are very good people, but they are angry."
POTUS added ... "They want their lives back again, safely! See them, talk to them, make a deal."
The protesters are up in arms over the fact Gov. Whitmer extended the state's emergency stay-at-home order until the end of May.
Of course, Trump started the battle cry for the "liberation" of several states -- including Michigan -- just hours after he laid out the federal guidelines. He, at least, said reopening should be done slowly and smartly ... based on data.
That's apparently out the window.
Multiple armed gunmen storm Michigan’s State House, State police are protecting @GovWhitmer and blocking the gunmen from gaining access to the house floor.
Humans aren't the only ones getting super bored and going stir crazy in coronavirus quarantine ... wildlife expert Jeff Corwin says animals need mental stimulation too.
The famed biologist joined us Friday on "TMZ Live" and told us how animals in captivity at zoos and aquariums are being affected by the lack of crowds, and what we can do to keep all our animal friends sane.
Jeff says the captive dolphins who are putting on shows in front of empty stands at a Japanese aquarium definitely know there's no oohing and aahing humans around, as do many of the animals in captivity at zoos and aquariums that have turned into ghost towns due to the pandemic.
It's pretty fascinating ... Jeff says zoos need to make sure their animals are mentally and environmentally stimulated, especially now that they are more alone than ever before with humans sheltering in place.
Jeff's got a few examples that really paint a picture ... gorillas slinging poop and polar bears with ice blocks.
But, it's not just captive animals that need stimulation ... Jeff says it's important to keep your house pets engaged, and he shows us how to play some fun mind games with cats.
