Masks alone don't cut it for this dude ... because he ventured out onto the mean streets of Manchester dressed as a "Star Wars" Stormtrooper!!!

It's understandable -- people in England are battling the virus like everyone else -- and this guy was taking no chances as he was taking his pooch for a walk.

It's amusing and at the same time really scary ... hard to know if he's just jk'ing or if he's genuinely freaked out that a droplet or a sneeze could do him in.

One thing you can say for sure ... Americans are united in their love and appreciation for the first responders, hospital doctors and nurses who are risking their lives to save others, and New Yorkers showed their emotions Friday night at eardrum-shattering levels.

NYC residents came out in force at around 7 PM and started a metal drumbeat ... banging pots and pans as they stood on their balconies or by their windows to show how they feel about their hospital heroes.

It's becoming a nightly tradition and, appropriately, it's getting louder and louder by the night.

The new movement, #ClapBecauseWeCare, has seen first responders in the city applauded and serenaded to thank them.

LaMelo Ball's barber took ZERO chances when it came to cutting the Big Baller's hair during the COVID-19 outbreak ... he showed up to trim Melo's head IN A FULL HAZMAT SUIT!!

We kid you not ... Philly Barber -- the famous hair guy for stars like Melo, Saquon Barkley and Patrick Mahomes -- tells TMZ Sports Melo was in desperate need of a cut, but with the global pandemic going down ... he had serious reservations about slinging around the razors.

"He kept approaching me and I was like, 'Look, man, there's a lot going on right now,'" Philly says. "'We gotta practice being safe, dude.'"

But on Tuesday this week, Philly gave in and went to cut the 18-year-old's hair ... but made sure he was doing it safely -- rockin' gloves, protective goggles, a mask and a hazmat suit!

"Melo is like a brother to me and the last thing I want to see, to your wife or to any family members, you don't want to see them affected by this," Philly says.

"I did what I had to do and it looked crazy, bro."

Philly eventually got the job done ... and Melo thought it was all pretty hilarious, saying, "My boy came in here lookin' -- I'm weak!"

Pretty funny, right? But, Philly tells us he's just glad everyone came out of the cut safely ... even if the outfit had him hot as hell during the job.

As for how the cut turned out ... doesn't seem Melo was complaining about the look -- and Philly told us, "It actually really worked out."

Restrictions on fertility procedures, coupled with a freeze on foreign travel due to the coronavirus, are drying up a bankable swath of the baby-making business ... TMZ has learned.

Right now, fresh or frozen embryo transfers, in vitro fertilization and pretty much all elective surgeries are being scrapped as U.S. fertility clinics follow guidelines released by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

A rep there tells us, the financial pain is being felt industrywide ... but even more so with clinics relying heavily on international clientele.

Our sources say many of the parent hopefuls from foreign countries are older Chinese nationals paying large sums for surrogate pregnancies, ever since the government tossed its one-child only policy back in 2015.

We're told these so-called "fertility tourists” flock to the U.S. to procreate, often because of relaxed surrogacy laws in several states. The conception costs aren't cheap, though -- experts tell us egg donations can fetch between $50k and $80k and surrogacy pregnancies run around $90k to $140,000.

John Wilcox, an endocrinologist at the California-headquartered Huntington Reproductive Center tells us ... "A third of our patients come from China and it’s a major part of our revenue stream." Their clinics also serve folks from Australia and Canada, but travel's closed off for those folks too.

He says consultations are still being conducted over WeChat with Chinese clients, but he fears the industry will take a big hit until international travel is restored.

Likewise, The Fertility Center of Las Vegas is a hub for patients jetting in from Europe and Australia, in addition to China, so these days ... they’re feeling the baby blues.

Smaller clinics are also feeling the procreating pinch. Dr. Danielle Lane of the Lane Fertility Clinic in San Francisco says she's noticed a marked drop-off, especially with foreigners ... as 15 percent of their volume is from China.

Mama June's looking for new ways to make that paper during the nation's unemployment surge, and like several celebs before her ... she's turned to Cameo.

The perennially-troubled reality star popped up on the personalized video shoutout site, and based on her one review on so far ... she's doing awesome.

June's asking price for a personalized vid is $25 -- quite a bit less than other big names who partake in Cameo -- but the cash can add up quickly if she gets lots of requests.

But check this out ... her daughter Honey Boo Boo has been racking up the Cameo cash after joining the site just days ago ... so there's hope for Mama, too.

HBB's vids are also apparently "Awesome" ... and 5 bucks less a pop.

This isn't the first new business venture for Mama June during the coronavirus crisis either. As we first reported ... she also emerged on social media a couple weeks back to push a weight-loss product.

Workout mogul Denise Austin says Richard Simmons is doing just fine in the shadows ... and she's sharing some of their old fitness routines for folks in quarantine.

Denise tells TMZ ... her old buddy Richard is doing just fine these days, even though he's kept himself out of the public eye for 6 years and counting. Denise says she's in constant contact with Richard's managers, and they assure her he's doing well.

Interestingly, though, she -- like most of the world -- has NOT seen him in person.

Richard and Denise go way back ... and she says their fitness routines from the '80s will really do people a lot of good during coronavirus lockdown.

As we first reported ... Richard is making a comeback of sorts during the pandemic, posting old fitness videos to his YouTube channel, the first activity there in 6 years.

Denise and her daughter, Katie Austin, also have some pretty simple workouts for folks cooped up inside ... and you don't need much other than your limbs and some canned pasta sauce.

A gun-rights group has sued the Mayor of Los Angeles, claiming he had no right to shut down gun stores in the City in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The California Rifle & Pistol Ass'n claims Mayor Garcetti broke the law when he determined gun stores were not essential businesses. The group notes the feds have called gun and ammo stores "essential" and therefore they can stay open.

Likewise, California Governor Gavin Newsom's stay-at-home order makes gun stores essential, with a twist. Newsom was asked if a city could shut gun stores down, and he said he'd defer to local law enforcement. L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said he did not consider gun stores essential, so they were shut down with the threat of arrest and prosecution if they stayed open.

There's no doubt ... there's been a huge run on guns in lots of cities around the country. This is a pic of a Southern California gun shop from last week, where people were lined up out the door to buy weapons, mostly for protection.

The org. claims their rights have been violated because the State order -- stating specifically that gun stores are essential businesses -- trumps any local ordinance. They also say their due process rights were violated because the City nullified their licenses to sell firearms.

It's interesting ... the suit does not focus at all on the Second Amendment which provides for the right to bear arms.

Selena Gomez says she has bipolar disorder, and she's sharing a message about her diagnosis that might not reach the masses the way she hoped.

Selena made the revelation Friday with Miley Cyrus, saying that after several trying years, "I realized that I was bipolar. And so, when I got to know more information it actually helps me."

The singers were chatting on Miley's IG Live show, "Bright Minded," and Selena went on to say her Texas upbringing stopped her from talking about mental health. Once she decided she was going to go public, though, she boned up on the disorder -- "I wanted to know everything about it and it took the fear away.

It seems she wanted fans to know how she's coping, and perhaps even pass on a helpful tip. The problem is ... the world is focused on a massive public health crisis right now.

No doubt, Selena's announcement would normally get way more attention, but coming smack in the middle of a global pandemic ... it might fall on deaf ears.

DJ D-Nice's virtual turn up is no joke -- he regularly has Michelle Obama, Rihanna and Halle joining in, and Diddy says the party is totally intoxicating.

DJ D-Nice was on Friday's "TMZ Live" and told us how his super-popular Instagram Live DJ sets were born. Turns out, it was a combo of loneliness while self-isolating, and his love for music.

His so-called "Club Quarantine" parties have sometimes drawn more than 100k people including the biggest names in movies, music and yes ... even politics.
